This week on the podcast we are talking about BLACK BREASTFEEDING WEEK!!! Me and the amazing, doula, Emerald Ortiz discuss the importance of breastfeeding, the historical issues surrounding surrounding it, barriers to breastfeeding and more! This is also an episode where you all share your stories too! A little about our guest: Emerald is a mother of 3, wife, full spectrum culturally competent doula, and a pregnancy and infant loss advocate. Birth work has been her passion and heart’s work since she was a teenager. She always knew she would end up supporting women in the birthing process. Recently she became a Shafia Monroe Consulting Full Circle culturally competent Doula. She finds it important to support pregnant people through the entire process, which includes pregnancy resource support all the way through labor support and into postpartum care. She also believes it to be very important as a doula and a Pregnancy And Infant Loss (PAIL) advocate, to be prepared to support people who have lost pregnancies and have stillborn (angel babies) and rainbow babies.
