Dr. Brian Sicari, Biomedical Engineer for the Artificial Heart Program at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital lectures to a live audience at UPMC Mercy Hospital. In his presentation, Dr. Sicari reviews the various types of ventricular assist devices, and provides a series of best practices for EMS providers to effectively trouble-shoot these devices. Dr. Sicari also overviews patient assessment and management strategies for the VAD dependent population.
