Have you ever wanted to send a message at a really late or early hour, but you don't want to wake someone up? Or maybe you want to remind them of something and you want to send the message right now before you forget? Well, iOS 18 has introduced a really cool feature called Send later with messages. This is also available on the MACD. Micah Sargent on hands on Mac did a walkthrough of this yesterday, but I want to show you this feature with voiceover. So I've got a message open to my buddies Michael and Marty, and I am going to have you listen to what it says.
Text field is editing hi guys, here is a message sent from my phone at an early hour that will arrive to you at 07:00 a.m. character mode insertion point at end okay, so here. You have the message. And now what we're going to do to send this later is we're going to go to the apps button. If you have your message open, you just swipe left with one finger. And here we hear apps camera. And here are the various options in the apps. And pretty soon I will get to send later.
Photos, stickers, Apple cash audio send later. Here is our send later option. So double tapping here's the screen that has some options for when we want to send it. Interestingly enough, I was focused on the word camera when I opened the send later option. So you'll need to touch the screen just a little bit lower. So we have today, as the picker option send button. So there's the send button. So just beyond the send button today. Picker item adjustable I do want to send it today.
09:00 selected picker item adjustable. Nine of twelve. Okay, so the default is 09:00 for whatever reason, and I am going to adjust that value. 08:00 eight of twelve, 70 minutes. Select am selected picker item adjustable. One of two. So there are my options. So now I can flick back left seven today. Send message send button and double tap the send button. Send message send dictate button. Now, interestingly enough, here's what the message field looks like here today.
07:00 a.m. button apps messages your iMessage hi, today 07:00 a.m. edit button. Okay, at the top of this message window that I sent to them, it says today 07:00 a.m. edit. And then if I swipe right your iMessage. Hi guys, here is a message sent from my phone at an early hour that will arrive to you at 07:00 a.m. link 07:00 a.m. all right, now. I'm going to swipe right again. Vertical scroll bar apps button. Today 07:00 a.m. button.
Now that 07:00 a.m. timestamp will stay there until you back out of the message window with the back button. So I couldn't figure out how to get rid of that until I went back. Back button filters back button so when.
You'Re in your message conversation list, what happens is when you get to the conversation that you have just sent the message, you know, for the future, it is actually not listed as a message in your conversation list. So in this list here, I have a message to Michael and Marty that I sentence some time ago. My message to them this morning that has not yet been sent is not listed here because it hasn't been sent. But when I open Michael and Marty.
Conversation messages, you're my message. Hi guys, here's a message. There it is. So you won't see it when you're looking at your general conversation list because you haven't sent it yet, but you will see it when you open the conversation itself, the thread. So I hope this is helpful. I am looking forward to using this when I want to send somebody something when it's too late or when I don't want to forget to send them a message when I should. So the send later option under the.
Apps feature in messages accessing notifications with voiceover. So the first thing you would want to do is make sure that your voiceover cursor is all the way up at the very, very top bar. Up there you'll find things like the time Wi Fi. You need to make sure the voiceover cursor is set on one of those items all the way at the very, very top. Once you do that, you do a three finger swipe down and it will open up the notification center and you'll be able to see all the notifications that you have right there on that screen.
So I've been playing around with the ability to rearrange my iOS home screen since iOS 18 came out, and I'm kind of more excited about this than I thought I would so what I want to demonstrate for you is how you can put apps in specific places on your home screen if needed. I currently have four apps across the top of my screen, three apps under those, a widget at the bottom of the app grid, and then four apps in the dock at the bottom. The top left is my mail. The bottom left is my phone. The top right is scanner radio. In the bottom right is drafts. I have Mona that needs to be probably closer to the bottom of my screen so I can quickly access it. And then I want to put Castro in the top right corner instead of scanner radio. So what I'm going to do is locate Mona.
First of all, Mona Beta beta. Four new items, and I'm going to. Flick up to edit Mona beta edit mode. If you double tap here, you'll hear started editing. And now, because I want to move this to the middle of my screen, towards the bottom, I need to flick. Down, delete, stop editing apps. Activate default.
To activate default. Drag will not work. And you'll see why here in a minute. If I double tap and hold, you'll hear a sound and that says, we are now moving this app. So I'm going to drag my finger down the screen. Row two. Column three. Row three. Row two. Column three. Row three. Row three, column three. Row two. Column four. Row five. Column four. And I'm going to slide my finger to the left a little bit. Row five. Column three. Row two. Column three.
I don't know why it's giving me those weird coordinates, but if I lift. My finger up, Castro is editing. Focus moves to a different app. But if I touch my finger roughly where I had it on the screen. Mona Beta is editing. Mona beta is editing beta. Four new items. I want to bring that down a little bit further. Dropped it a little higher than I expected. So I'm going to double tap and hold, wait for the doo doo doo, the second one, and slide my finger down a little bit. Row two, column four.
I think that'll work well for me. So I'm going to lift my finger up. And then if I touch roughly where. I had focus at, Mona Beta is editing beta. There is my Mona. So now in the top right corner. Scanner radio is editing. Is scanner radio actions available. I don't really care where that is. So I'm going to double tap and hold. I'm going to drag it down. Row one, icon approaching border. I'm just going to drop it right there is editing. Now I'm going to find Castro. Castro is editing.
And then I'm going to double tap and hold. I'm going to slide my finger slightly to the right, but I got to be careful not to go to the next page. Row one, column three. We'll create folder with zoom off zoom icon approaching border. We'll create folder off zoom. Row one, column three, row one, column four. And I'm going to lift my finger up. I did wait is editing. I did wait until it said off zoom. If I touch in the top right. Corner, Castro is editing.
And then in the top right corner is edit button. Mail is editing. No unread emails. So now if I find my done button. Done button, I can split tap here. Finished editing, done. Cellular. Two of four bars. In the top left corner, I have mail. No unread emails. In the top right corner, I have Castro. And in the bottom right corner, I have doc drafts. And then roughly middle of the screen. I have Mona beta beta. Four new items.
And being able to organize your apps and put them wherever you want them on the screen is amazing because then that helps with your muscle memory. So when you open up your phone. Mona beta, beta, four new items. And then you tap with another finger. Munchkinver repost. All of a sudden, you are in mona, and you're in 150 new posts. Uh, catch up on those 150 new posts that you might have. If you're anything like me, Stephen.
