Club. Unmute is a way you can support the work we do here at Unmute. If you're interested in an exclusive opportunity to learn more with us privately and to check out some of the social events we have check out Unmute show. This has been an ACB community call. Today's community Unmuted call was hosted on Tuesday, the 1 October 2024.
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Unmute. We have lots of announcements here at the top, so let's get rolling. First thing is we want to make sure everyone gets their question answered. So to start out with, let's answer the question of the day and your first tech question. And if we have time, we'll come back around and get second questions. We want to try and at least let everyone ask their question the first time through. And if we have time, we'll do second questions. Also, please be respectful. We'll give everyone the same chance you would want to get their question answered. Super important. And we want to make sure that everyone knows that there's no dumb questions. The question of the day is what is the first piece of tech that you used so you can raise your hands and we'll go through that. A couple of other big things that have happened. We are answering the call. So we have gotten from many, many people asking us, when are you guys ever going to or are you guys ever going to do an unmute? Not in the middle of the week, in the middle of the day. And so after lots of pondering and kind of working through, we are going to start doing Saturday mornings, which is going to be the first Saturday morning of the month starting in November. So the first Saturday in November and then moving forward, it'll be the first Saturday of the month. You can find us here in the community so you can check our website for all the details as we roll that out at Unmute show. Or if you have questions, comments or anything like that, you can email us at feedback Unmute show. Also, I want to remind everyone that there is a big Jaws special event tonight in the bits chat. So stay tuned for that. And that'll be a good one. So go and check that out. Let's see what else. We also want to let you guys know that we have the big unmute tech gift guide. We're doing that a second time for this year. So if you want to participate in that, you can check the website for all the details on that. We're going to be updating the website and all the information, details and everything that you need to know will be there also, we're looking for people who have possibly broadcasting podcasting talent. And if you have a good idea or you have something you would like to see turn into a podcast or anything like that, then also check the website. We're going to be taking a look at what kind of ideas people come up with, and we're interested to see, you know, what's out there and what you guys have to offer. So you can also check the website for that. It'll be updated, and all the details for all of that will be on the website. So you can check that out. Okay, that was a breath full. All right. Also, we've got Mike Marnie, slight correction.
The Vispero event tonight with Jeff Bezer is in a bits community zoom room. So check your inbox or the web zoom link. All right, Brad, thanks for correcting that. I appreciate it. All right, Michael Babcock is always with us. How are you doing, Michael? I am doing great, but I don't think you told people what the question of the day was after all of that. You may have. I think I did.
What's your first tech product that you remember getting if you missed that question? And so what's the first tech that you use? Which I'm really interested to hear what some of those are last five posts that we have currently is on. Yesterday's technically working, which did come out a little bit late, later than normal. You'll have to listen to the episode to hear why. You'll hear what Demossi sent me, because two weeks ago he said he was going to send me a gift. And I got that. So we can talk about that. And then we also talked about our thoughts on the meta event and what how the AI has been working for Demossi in his new ventures. And then we published on Sunday afternoon fixing the Flow, a listeners guide for joining club Unmute. We had some inquiries about, hey, how do you join this? And you know what? When I went through the process to join club Unmute, I found some challenges myself. So we are in dialogue with memberful, the company that provides the membership tool for us, in order to see if they're able to get some of these issues resolved. But go give that episode a listen if you are curious. On digital bytes, I demonstrated for you the advanced voice mode. Chris gave you some Android home screen hacks, and then I, Marty shared how to customize your today view on your phone. There was a town hall replay published the Jaws tip. This week was a keyboard shortcut lookup. And then on the shell phone show, I showed you how to use special symbols, like the at symbol. So, Steve, do we have any hands today? We have five already, and first one is Bobby. Hey, Bobby. Bobby.
Okay. Am I unmuted? You are.
Okay. Well, I was born in 1977, and the first piece of tech I ever, ever got my hands on, and it wasn't exactly tech for the blind, was a micronta Vox clock. Three. And I'll explain to you what that was. It was a talking clock that plugged into the wall outlet. It was almost looked like a clock radio. It had the date and the time, and it ran on seven double a batteries because this thing was from Radio Shack. And it's funny because I threw. I threw it away after about probably five or seven years because the capacitors went. And then years later, I meet somebody up at summer camp that said that they had theirs and replaced the capacitors. And then I got ahold of one from my old music teacher, and it needs new capacitors. So I'm definitely going to fix that one up. But if you don't know what that is or don't know what it looks like, you could definitely google it. It's called the Micronta Vox clock three from Radio Shack. And it talks.
Awesome. Gotta, like a good talking clock. I have a couple of talking clocks around here. I don't even know what brands they are, but they. They come in wide variety of shapes and sizes. So thanks for that, Bobby. Appreciate it. Oh, is there any you're not using? Can you plug any in the. Into the wall, or are they all battery? They're all battery operated, the ones that I have, yep. Well, thanks, Bobby. Steve, who do we got next? Stacy is next. Hey, Stacey. Hey, Stacey.
I think the first technology that I even got before a talking clock was a tape recorder. Good old tape recorders. Yep. Good old tape. There you go. Yeah. The next thing after that would be, I would say, was, after all that stuff with the talking clocks, a braille watch, and then after the braille watch, I would say would be an octagon. That was when I really started things there.
There you go. That would be. So your first tech, I got you there, and then you jumped up to the opticon, where you were able to find some independence. So thanks for that. Appreciate it. Stacey and Steve, who do we got next? Pam is next. Hey, Pam. Hey, Pam.
Okay. Well, Stacey just kind of stole my thunder. My first tech, not counting a Perkins braille writer and a reel to reel tape, that's how far back I go, would be an opticon. And I had that thing for years and I actually have one now. It actually is working, but that's a long story. And I actually have a tech question that I may need to send you an email about it because it's a little complicated. But about a week ago I sent someone needed me to send a video and I made one. And the first time I attempted to send it, it said suggested I might need to use mail drop, which I did. And that stupid message stayed in my outbox for the longest time and I thought I don't have time to wait any longer. So I tried to send it again just by regular email. And my first attempt, for whatever reason, didn't go through at all. The second one did. The problem is, and I don't know what caused it to mess up. The voiceover was assuring me that it, the camera did pick up my face. Yes, I was using the proper camera, it picked up my face, etcetera. I left every setting the way it was. I took the made the video, I said it, but for whatever reason, when the person received it, the video, the visual part didn't show up. All she got was audio, but it was sent as a video. Any suggestions of why the video visual part didn't go through?
Yep, because this has happened to me probably three or four different times and oh really? I don't know if this impacts you, but what I have found is my light. If my lighting isn't good, people receive a black screen on the video and then audio. So I'm wondering if possibly your lights were off or where you recorded the video. Though voiceover was able to see your face and give you feedback based on your face's location. I wonder if the lighting wasn't good enough. So what you can do in future, and this is helped me, is take a photo of yourself. Not a video, but take a photo of yourself, share that photo with be my AI and ask if the lighting is sufficient for recording a video. And I've gotten feedback on the lighting of oh no, it looks like your face is in shadow or it's too dark to see you, so you may want to turn on some lights and then be my AI gave me that feedback.
And the other thing I was going to say, pam, is you might also want to try using Dropbox or one of those and upload your video first. And once it's uploaded, then you can just send a link to the person and then they can just download it. That way it won't kill your email trying to send out a large file like that.
Okay, I will. If I ever get asked. I'm rarely asked to make videos, but this was a mess. And it was a presentation that the person doing it came up to me about 30 minutes ahead and said, can I take a picture of you? I said, you should have gotten one on the video. Gotcha. She took a picture of me in the middle of dinner, no less, stuffing my face. I thought, oh, joy. So I'm sure she got a good picture of it. Thanks a lot for your question, Pam. I'm not photogenic at all. Well, thanks.
And the other, the other, I need to make sure I understood this correctly. I have a friend who has a blind shell. I do not. If she needs help with her blind shell, other than calling y'all, she needs to make an international call now or email info. Lindshell.com. Oh, well, she's not really doing email yet. I understand, but those at this time are the options. Or she can, she may be able to contact the distributor who she purchased her phone from. Thank you, Pam. Okay, thanks, Dave.
Who do we got? Next up is Abraham. Hello. Hello. So I wasn't sure if you were talking about lion tech or not, but. My first blind take was a victor. Something or other, a massive audiobook player. That can take a cd, and I. Still have it and still works. Wow. That I use it. Yeah. So my question is, TikTok, any tips for using it? Because it's a bit frustrating on the phone.
Yeah. So I will give you the tip that I. Well, let me. Let me stop, because I want to ask Marty first. Got to be fair. Marty, do you use TikTok? No, I don't, unfortunately. Who knows? Which.
I didn't want to assume, but I had, you know, make sure there. So what I have done, Abraham, it is not ideal. It's not. The best solution is I just turn voiceover off and I start swiping up with one finger. And then if I hear a video that I like, if you double tap the screen, you'll feel a haptic feedback that'll tell you that you have liked the video. When you get to a video for someone you want to follow, triple click the home button. And then if you find the follow button, it's directly above the like button in about the same position that the send button would be in your messages app, maybe a little higher. And then that's really the feedback I have. There is a hashtag you can search for called blind talk.
And if I want to view videos. From one particular creator. Ah. Directly above the follow button is a name of the creator and you can either double tap or I typically split tap on that and that will bring you into that creators page. And then I think you have to find the videos button on the screen and double tap on that. And then again you can turn voiceover off and start scrolling through the feed. Oh cool. Thank you so much.
Yep. Unfortunately, doing a three finger flick up, which I assumed would work, will only work for about five videos. And then it jumps focus back up to the top of where you started that day. So good luck and let us know if you have any other questions. Unmute is not currently on tick tock, but when we get there hopefully you'll follow us. Who do we got next? Steve? Next up is am. Hey, Anne.
Well, we're waiting. Let's just repeat the question of the day real quick, which is what is the first piece of technology you have used? So feel free to chime in on that. Okay. And you're still muted. Let's jump onto the next hand. We'll come back to Ann. Okay, next up is Pastor Gill. Hi. Goodness. Hello. Go ahead. Am I on? You are on. We can hear you.
Okay. The first piece of tech equipment I had was a braille watch when I was seven and I had time on my hands. I had a later on when I was about twelve, I had a telektro electric tape recorder, reel to reel, which kept breaking the tape, which was awful. And then I had a wall and sack tape recorder for a long time. My first computer was a Eureka a four and it was a CPM. And now I'm using a Dell desktop using Jaws. I do have a tech question for you. I have a Dectalk USB 64 bit synthesizer. It worked on Windows ten, the software that I had, but it's not working on Windows eleven. It says that the driver may be corrupt or whatever, but it's not. You know, it worked on Windows ten.
So sometimes you need an updated driver for Windows eleven. I'm looking for, yeah, dectalk software for Windows eleven and I don't know where to go. Access solutions is out of business. Going to the manufacturer's website to start with and see if they have updated drivers on there. A lot of times the manufacturer will put drivers on the website that you can download. So I would start. The manufacturer was access solutions and they're out of business. And the head of it I think.
Has passed, so you might be out of luck. Unfortunately, if the manufacturer has gone out of business, there might not be anyone making updated drivers. You might have to have a system that stays at the Windows ten level in order for you to use that, because if there's not anyone making new drivers, it may not be compatible with Windows eleven. Unfortunately.
Yeah, I'm using eloquence right now. And for sure if you have a. Second system that's running Windows ten, you might have to keep it at Windows ten to use that piece of equipment. Okay?
Yep. And if someone else has an idea, they'll go ahead and raise their hand and can give some input and really appreciate this. Before we go on to the next question, I actually got emailed a question when we were off on. I think he sent it in Saturday. And Marvin emailed and asked if I could explain what synthesizer I use with jaws. So this question actually reminded me of that, that question, so thanks for that. I am currently just using eloquence with jaws. That's been my screen reader. I have downloaded a couple of the vocalizer voices and when I send in screen grabs, which are screen recordings of. Of applications not working the way I expect them to, in a lot of cases, I'll use something like Samantha or Nathan in order to have a more human sounding, pleasant voice for someone who might not be used to text to speech. So that's an answer to Marvin's question. Steve, who do we got next? Teresa is next. Hey, Teresa. Teresa.
I'm fine. Okay. Let's go with Amy. Okay. I apologize. Go ahead, Teresa. Here. I'll try to be as brief and in chronological order I had. I am so sorry. We just lost her. I just muted her. I was trying to lower her hand. Punch star 6th again there for us, Teresa. Appreciate it. Sorry about that. Give Teresa a quick moment. Get unmuted. You know what the mute button means. You're good now, Teresa.
Okay. I had a portable that was my very own. My grandmother, actually. My parents got me a portable typewriter back in the seventies. I'm not quite as old as Pam, but almost. And then the state of West Virginia when I lived there, issued me an aph cassette player recorder for college in 1979. And then I didn't own it, but I got to use it. It was an octagon at the library on campus where I attended college. I'd love to know whatever happened to that. And I wanted. I should have asked my father before he passed. Just look into it. But he'd long since retired before his death, so I never found out. It would have been a good piece of equipment to have owned so I could read printed material.
Yes, ma'am. Everyone who uses the opticon seems to love it, yes.
And then I had one of those box talking clocks. They were cool. But mine died probably like in the late nineties, early two thousands. It lasted maybe a good 1415 years, give or take. I also had one of those sharp, I think it was the two, the time two calculator that had the date, you know, calculator, the calendar, the timer, and of course the clock. And sighted friends of mine used to love to play around with it, pull up dates of people's births. They thought that was more cool than I did. Almost.
There you go. Well, good. The two thousands came and I got more modernity things like, I finally got a Dell laptop. I also have an ipod touch. I had one that was like fourth generation. It doesn't do much for me anymore, but I have one that's a 7th generation at least. I can read email and pull up tune in radio, and I heart radio, so that's really cool. And I need to get an iPhone.
There you go. Well, thanks, Angela. We're gonna jump onto the next hand. Appreciate knowing what your first technology was. And Steve, who do we got? Next up is Amy. Hey, Amy. Hey, Amy.
Hello, everybody. So my first technology, I guess it depends upon how you define the word technology. So I had a, I had a braille clock, I had a watch by the age of nine or ten, I had a. And I had a wheel to reel tape recorder. 1st first one, just a commercial one, and then subsequently the Sony, famous Sony 105, which those people who are old enough to remember probably had that as well. Do any of you use one password? I do.
Okay. So I bought one password quite a while ago, and I'm finally getting around to trying to use it. So my question is. Well, two things. Number one, I have the information I was able to log in, I downloaded, and I think I added the extension correctly to my browser, primary browser, which is chrome. But if I log into a website where I'm not using one password, how do I switch so that I can use one password to generate passwords? Do I go into change password and then one password should be revealed as an option, or is there a different way?
So what I would do is go into change password, whether that be after you log into the account and change your password in your profile, or by using the reset password link that most sites will provide you. Once you're in a password edit field, you can try tapping your down arrow key. That'll then pop up a menu that'll say suggested password. That should be a suggested password. From one password, tapping enter will accept that suggested password. And then what I do in edge, and I suspect it's the same or similar in Chrome, is after you've reset your password. So you've chosen the reset password button. Go to the bottom of the page and there will be a pop up with one password there and there will be a save button. You can up arrow to make sure that the username is in the one password entry. If it's not, there's an edit button that you can choose to add the username and then choose the save button. And then when you return to that web page, press the down arrow to auto fill that entry. If none of that is working, try pressing control shift x to open one password xdev.
Okay, that's helpful. I did contact the one password tech support and they told me that I have to actually be logged in to any browser, site or app that I want to change a password to one password from before I can make any changes. I was hoping I could just go in and do it initially, even if I'd forgotten my password. But apparently you can't do that. So what you can also do is this. On windows, I have windows and I have iOS.
Okay, so on windows or iOS you can go into the one password utility itself and you can add information for websites manually that way. But to actually change your password on the site itself, you either need to log in and change it or use the forgot password option. Got it. Thank you so much. Save that to one password. Yep, very helpful. Appreciate it. No problem, steve, who do we got next? Oh, let's try an again. Hello, Anne. Yes, we can.
Oh good. I just can do it. I have a windows question. What is the shortcut, best shortcut to restart. Oh, okay. So if you press windows key x, you, alt r is the fastest way to restart. So windows key x, you have to. Do both of them.
No, let me go through that again with you. So tap windows key x. That will open the context menu for windows. So windows key x will open that menu. When that menu is open, tap u for shutdown. So u for uniform. That will open the shutdown menu and then alt r will restart because you're picking restart from that menu. So windows key x U alt r. There are other ways to do it, but that's the way that I do it myself. Oh, okay, I'll try that. Thanks, Ann. No worries. Steve, who do we got next?
Next up we have Sir Q. Hey, sir Q from Finland, who is muted? Sir Q. Okay, let's go with Deborah. Hey, Deborah, I hope there's not zoom gremlins. Yeah. Is there a zoom issue today? Everyone's having trouble unmuted. Hi, there. Sorry about that. There you go. Hey.
Well, my first piece of technology, I think, was a. It was a braille. Braille watch. My grandmother also had. She had a, she had a braille clock. And so I. And then she went from that to. From a, a talking book player. And. But my question is here is that the other day, I was trying to go into a. I can't remember whether was a website. It's with telehealth.com. it's all treble health. It's all to do with tinnitus. And I was going to make an appointment for, see if I could get one of the specialists to give me a call. And so I was tapping around, and all of a sudden I found this Microsoft wallet and. Okay. Okay, so what's it. What's in there? I thought that was going to help me to sort of get into the, you know, the. What I needed to do with that. The telehealth obviously did not. I thought that I would just play around with it in and install it, but now that I've installed it, I don't want it, you know, because it invites you to put all your, you know, your passwords in there and importance in important information and emails that you use. I don't want to do that. And I just, I realized I just don't. I just don't want it on the computer.
Got you. How do I get rid of it?
So I'm going to have to go through this process, first of all, what you can try doing for right now. And I'm going to go through the process of disabling wallet so I can walk you through those steps, because I don't remember those steps offhand. So if someone else has them, please raise your hand. Otherwise, I'll go through them while, while we're ahead talking with others. However, in the interim, the next time it asked for you to save a password, you can simply press your f six key to access the notification and then tab to never and hit enter. And that should never prompt you on that website again. But give me a couple of moments, and I'll look up the directions on how to actually disable that. Okay?
Okay. Thanks, Debra. Who do we got next? Steve? Okay. Next we have Jane. Hey, Jane.
Hello. My thing, my first technology. Do you remember the. I remember clearly the APA cassette players. They were built like tank, and it had a record function and, I don't know, blank cassette tapes. Come to mind. So it's vhs. But I have a question. I'm looking for a smart blood pressure monitor. I had one from cardio. That's Q a R d I O years ago, but the app is no longer available when I checked. Now I'm dormant with a smart blood pressure cuff without an app anymore. So where do I. Because I think I got the first cardio.
Couple suggestions I would say is check with your local pharmacies and ask what they're using that has an app that's compatible to. I'm assuming you want to have it on iOS on your phone, and they probably have a couple. You can try and call some of the remote delivery service pharmacies as well. But I would check with your local pharmacies. They got rite Aid and CV's, Walmart. Check those. And those pharmacies in there will have a good idea of what blood pressure monitors will work with the app, you know, on your phone. That's where I would start to be honest with you.
Okay. Or find. Okay. You can always check with your doctor and see what they use. A lot of times they use a specific one because you can, you know, sync with their system, and then they can see it remotely if you want to choose to do that. So that might be a good option as well.
You want to just what I would look up in your case, Jane, is smart blood pressure monitors compatible with Apple Health that way, even if you have to use an app, if the app isn't the most accessible, if you can get it connected to your Apple health, you can get the data from Apple Health because health will be accessible. Yeah, that's what it was great when the app existed.
I was able to do that for sure. And that's an unfortunate side effect of smart, connected medical devices. And, yeah, definitely worth it. I do not have. I was just trying to see if I could find it, and I can't find it right now. I use a very loud and annoying blood pressure monitor that shouts out my numbers to me and the rest of the world. But the benefit of that is it will also bluetooth them to Apple Health. If I can find the name of it, I'll send it to you. Okay, Steve, who do we got next? Let's try Sir Q again. Hey, sir Q. Okay, next up is doc utily.
Hey, doc. Good morning. How are you doing? Okay so far. All right. First technology, I think, was a ti handheld calculator. Cool. And then I probably after that was a trash, shady calculator. You know, the old radio shack machine. Perfect. And. And just to comment on this, on the restart, I have never used the alt key with that. I just have used the Windows x. And you are.
Yeah. Yep. I. I don't know why I picked up the habit of using alt r. I think someone suggested it on the show once, and so I just started doing it to test it out. But you're right, that will also work too, doc, so appreciate that. Windows. Windows x and then U and then r. And that. What is that? One more time, doc.
Windows x u r. So windows x to open the context menu. U for shutdown menu are for restart. So the only thing different than what I was telling you is he doesn't do alt r, he just does r. So Windows x, u r. Thanks. Hope that helps, Anne. Thanks a lot, doc. Appreciate it. Well, I have a question. On a double two column WordPress page, is, is there an easy way to jump from column one to column two?
I do not know off the top of my head, but if someone has an idea for doc, please raise your hand while I research that and find out, because I suspect it's just a real quick keystroke there, doc. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Thanks a lot. Okay, next up is Juliana or Bell. Hello, Juliana. How are you? Speakers. If you turn your speakers off, you have external speakers. I'm assuming if you turn those off, that'll stop the echo.
Well, I was on my glasses, and hopefully. Let's see if I can turn this. Okay. There you go. There you go.
Okay, so I just hung up the. I'm telling you, this is quite an adventure with these, uh, brand new meta smart glasses that I got from lens crafters. Uh, they are just so much fun. They are. But my first technology that was really meaningful to me, well, of course, the braille writer and tape recorder and all of that, but the opticon, it was so. I just loved it. I used it all the time, and I really wish they were still around, so. But my question has to do with the glasses. How do you raise your hand on. Because I was, like I said, I was using the glasses, and then I had to come back to the computer. So how do I raise my hand? I can't figure it out. I can't find a mute and unmute and to raise my hand.
So you have to do that from the device that the glasses are connected to. You can't do it with glasses. Right. And I tried that on my phone, and I couldn't find it. Okay, what were you seeing? What was it saying? It, all it said was just about Zoom. It didn't have anything about mute unmute.
So in that case, what I would try doing is. And I don't know if this would solve it, but I would try double tapping in the middle of the screen because it sounds like the action toolbar at the bottom of the screen got hidden. So try double tapping the middle of the screen, and then hopefully you'll find that toolbar at the bottom with the mute, the enable disable video and the reactions. And then under reactions is raised hand. Okay, thanks. Give that a try. Julianna, thanks a lot for jumping.
I want to ask you about Ira, but I'll wait. I got to call you about a couple things. And I did keep my blind shell. I decided to keep it good. Glad to hear that. Well, sounds good. And we'll talk again soon. Steve, who do we got next? Next up is Petra. Hey, Petra. Petra, you are muted. Okay. Shall we tie sir Q one more time? Yeah, try that. Sir Q. There you are. There you go. We got you finally. Sorry for the miscarriage. I. No problem.
Too long a day. But my first tech was probably the braille watch, of course, and then the real to reel tape recorder. So, yeah, they were the first ones that I had a long, long time ago. But my question is a clubhouse question. So someone sent me a message, that private message, and I don't know how to reply to it because there are. There are buttons that are not labeled, the ones that's gonna add button. And then there's a. I can see there's a big, like, round button, and then the next button is font buttons. And kind of. I just wondered if you had or if you have.
Is. This is on your phone, I'm assuming, right? Yes. Yes. I think I'm not. I don't remember how long ago it was, but Chris on digital bytes, did a walkthrough on how to label unlabeled things with voiceover on a phone. Michael, do you remember what episode that was?
I don't, but you can type in label buttons in unmute show on the search field and see if it pops up in that specific instance, though. Sir Q, I do not know how to reply to someone's message. If, you know, send an email to feedback unmute show or raise your hand, because I can't help you there. Sir Q. But thanks a lot for your patience while we got to your a. Thanks for your patience. You have a good day, guys. All right, thanks a lot. The first timers we have.
You want to go right second time around? Yes. Okay. Bobby. Hey, Bobby. Okay, Michael, if you, is Debbie still in the room? I don't know, but if you want to help her, it's going to be podcasted.
Yeah, I could help her. If you install something by accident and you don't know how to get rid of it. If it's a Windows store app, because Microsoft wallet is an app, what you could do is download a little program. Well actually you could put it on a memory stick. It's called Geek Uninstaller and the website is www.geekuninstaller.com. and what you do is when you launch this little program, you hit the escape key and then Alt V and that brings up your desktop apps and then you down Arrow once and it's your Windows store apps and you hit enter on the Windows Store apps and you can't do first net letter navigation. So what you have to do is you have to down Arrow until you get to letter M and you see all the Microsoft stuff. Now you want to be careful. You want to remove Microsoft Wallet and what you do is you do the alt key and right arrow and you see the actions button. There's an uninstall and there's a force removal and there's a registry entry button. And I hope, Debbie, that if you're listening, hopefully you won't have any problems. If you do have Michael, contact me.
Sounds like a plan. Bobby, appreciate it. And that's, that's a tool I have never heard of. So I have to check out geek uninstaller to build software. The website is just geek uninstaller.com. or if you want to do it the long way, it's www.geekuninstaller.com. Awesome. Well, thanks, Bobby, appreciate that. And that's why I love this call, because we all have unique tips to help each other out. Steve, who do we got next? Next is Pam. Hey Pam.
Yeah, I'm back. Okay, for the one who needed to label unlabeled buttons, you first of all, you're going to put focus on the button that is unlabeled. Do a two finger double tap and hold and you get this nifty little sound. And voiceover is going to say something like add label. I haven't had to do it in a while. It'll say something to the, and you may have to flick a time or two, but it'll say add label. If it says double tap to edit, then do that and you're going to put the name for the label in and then hit the, there is a save button if I remember correctly, it's in the upper right corner where a save button normally is. And you're going to double tap that, and that should take care of it, at least until the app or website updates. And then you may have to go back and do it all over again. But that's how you do it.
There you go. Well, thanks, Pam. Appreciate that. Two finger double tap and hold. And then follow the prompts that voiceover gives you in order to label that specific right button. Thank you, Pam. All right, Steve, do we have anyone else? Yeah, Matthew's up next. Hey, Matthew. Hello, guys.
Can you hear me? We can hear you, sir. Awesome. So my first technology, if I can remember that far back, I believe, is going to be the big old school tape recorder that came from where I'm from here at the Texas State Library. The big ones that had the colored big old buttons and you had to have a handle, you could carry it around, which is kind of cool. That was my first experience with technology. Question is, I just recently updated my. My watch, my Apple watch, and when I did that update, it turned off my digital crown. And I cannot for the life of, for me remember the gesture to turn it on. I think it's like a three finger tap or something like, I can't remember.
So you're talking about it turned off. The ability to navigate with your digital crown or your digital ground isn't working at all. I think it's not letting me, you. Know, how you turn it to go from one, you know, like in your apps and stuff. Yeah. It's not letting me. I do not remember that gesture. But bear with me a few minutes and I will figure it out for you. Thank you. It is a two finger triple tap. Two finger triple tap. Okay, cool. Thank you. I appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
Yep. Thank you. And next up is Stacey. Hey, Stacey. Hey, Stacey. Hi.
I just got a new braille sense, you know, while back, you know, I love it. I really happy with it, but I can't figure out how. See, chrome, chrome, I have an attached file which allows me to go directly to the. To the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints Braille, you know, braille page. And I like that a lot because I get to. Every month I get to download magazines from that and I get to down, you know, download extra things from it and whatnot. And I downloaded a whole bunch of stuff from it already, which I'm loving, you know, but I can't figure out how to go to another, a website from that one. That's the only website I can, you know, go to presently and trying to figure out how to do that from chrome because I'm using chrome basically because they're telling me that I, you know, gonna have to use Chrome for basically a lot of websites, you know, so how do I go from in Chrome to another website from that?
So I don't know the gesture that you would do on the braille cent six to get to the address bar, but what you can look and someone may have that in those insights and be able to raise their hand and let us know. But if you look in the user guide or reach out to selvis, you should be able to ask them for the Ur.
They told me that they're working on a new. They said look for a new tab and there's nothing like that in the website for a new tab. And they say they're working on solutions to Chrome, but they say they're having trouble, you know, getting. Getting solutions for chrome. So.
Gotcha. Well, if. If they're working on it. Yep. So I. If you've already talked to their support team, as I said, I don't know that gesture or how to be able to get to the new tab button, but it sounds like you're already working with Selva's support, so hopefully they'll be able to help you. If anyone else has any ideas, they can send an email to feedback at unmute show. We'll pass it on to Stacey. I am not seeing any immediate hands. What about you, Steve? Are you seeing any hands?
No, we have no hands left and we've got about nine and a half minutes. Beautiful. And it looks like Bobby just raised his hand. So we'll take that hand real quick and then have Marty wrap it up. Good. Bobby, you were unmuted. You are muted again. I forgot to tell Debbie something. Okay. I don't know if Debbie's still on here. Hopefully she is, but casted? Yeah.
Okay. When you download geek uninstaller, as I said, there's a pro version and a free version. Now the pro is for like, more work environments. Like, if you have to go deep, deep into the registry, you don't need that. But the free version is very, very good. And you have to unzip the file. I don't know how computer savvy this woman is, but when you first get it, it's you. It you die. It goes into your downloads folder. It's geek dot zip. Yep.
And you have to unzip it. Now, Windows has its own utility. I'm just going to tell Debbie this has, you have your own Windows utility. There's a. You don't need seven zip anymore. Gotcha. Well, thanks, Bobby. Yeah, go ahead, Debbie. Yeah, yeah, that was a lot of. I have troubles processing information, but thank you for that. Thank you for that information. I'll give it a try.
This will come out in the podcast version, which you can get probably later today. And if you need to go slow and rewind it a couple of times or play it over a couple of times, you'll be able to do that. Yeah. Okay. Thank you. Thank you very much, both of you. You're welcome. Perfect. Thanks a lot and appreciate Steve and Brad today. Marty, you want to go ahead and wrap it up? We have one more hand. I don't know if you want to take that. Yeah, yeah, let's take that. Yeah, take the last hand.
Okay. It is Marsha. Hey, Marcia. Hi, Marcia. I'm in Daytona Beach. I have a 2013 outlook and some of the jaws things. The keystrokes are not working. And somebody told me that I could get a complete list of keystrokes to use with 2013. And can you explain that? Do I go to Chrome and then to Google and then put in complete list of keystrokes for Window for Outlook 2013?
Yep. And. Or I would add Jaws in there in the version of Jaws that you have. So you could ask for the Jaws. Keystrokes for Outlook 2013. Jaws 2024 keystrokes for 2013. Okay. Thank you. And I highly recommend, I know it's not feasible in a lot of cases, but if you're using 2013, explore the Microsoft 365 option because you could get your outlook included for about $60 a year for one user, and then that'll get you up to date and get the latest outlook. So where do I go for that?
So you can get information about that. Just search for Microsoft 365 and that'll get you the Microsoft office 365. Okay. Thank you so much. Beautiful. You have a great rest of your day. And Marty, you want to go ahead and wrap it up?
Yep. Yep. Thanks, everyone for being here as usual. Check our website unmute show for all the latest updates and all the things we have coming here over the next month or so. If you want to email us with any questions, comments, or anything else, you can always email us at feedback unmute show. Everybody. Have a great week and we'll see you next time. Thanks, y'all.
