Club Unmute is a way you can support the work we do here at Unmute. If you're interested in an exclusive opportunity to learn more with us privately and to check out some of the social events we have check out Unmute show. This has been an ACB community call. This Unmute presents community call was hosted on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. There happened to be a Google event today too.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Unmute. Some announcements here at the top. As always, first, I want to remind everyone to please be respectful when you answer your question to everybody else and make sure that everyone gets the same respect to ask their question as you would want. Also, we want to try and get through all of the hands as best as we can. So we are going to say the question of, of the day and one question, and then if we have time, we'll come back around and we'll take second questions if we have the time. Also, I wanted to remind everyone that tonight at eight eastern, we have Mac bytes with bits. You can check out all that information in today's email that went out, or you can check out their website. And the question of the day is, do you use AI or have you ever used AI to complete a project? And if so, what was it and how did you do it with us today? We got Michael Doyce. How's it going, michael?

Great, Marty. It's good to be back with you guys again today. I can't tell you how many AI projects I are. Projects I've used AI with over the past couple of years. I use it with code, use it with, you know, the meta glasses to, you know, learn things and use it with, well, I even have it on my new website. And I wanted to mention that we, Iaccessibility.net, which is what hosts the IAcast, we are creating the app directory, which we, we have over 24 apps in now, and there'll be another one up pretty soon. Fantastic resource. Check it out. Iaccessibility.net and the iacast still running strong. We did not put out an episode this week, but we have a very question of the day themed episode coming out very soon in the next week. So very exciting. So I will hand it back to you, Marty.

Awesome. Thanks, Michael. And as always, we also have Michael Babcock with us. How you doing, Michael?

I don't use AI. Ever. Never. Not at all. That's a lot. I am doing good, Marty. Thanks a lot. So you may have noticed another, notice another item when you came into the zoom room today talking about AI companion that's one thing that we are experimenting with a little bit is getting a list of everyone's questions so we can go further in detail, especially with those questions who we don't get immediate answers to. So super exciting how that goes. Yesterday we published TW 73, where we talked a bit about how, well, everything, a lot of my office setup, Damasi is moving and his office set up and how we're configuring and what devices we're using. So that was published yesterday to technically working. On Sunday, digital bytes. Chris shared an app called Nature Space, which sounds pretty cool. Marty showed you how to move mail in the mail app on iOS, and then I gave you a brief rundown slash overview of the Orbitz 40 Braille display that is pretty affordable. On Thursday, Lucy shared an episode of her all things Lady, a content called Gacha Pets. So if you're interested in those, you'll definitely want to check that out. And that's all I have right now, Marty. So, Sheila, do we have any hands?

You do. Beth. Hey, Beth. Hi. Yeah, I was wondering, you know, I. I'm on YouTube music, and, and by the way, I can skip ads now, but. Oh, good. I double double tapped on something. You know, I had to do it, like, like to say save to playlist. And I think there was another thing. I, I had to do it like, do the action, like two or three times before it actually clicked on. And I don't know if that's an.

Apple thing or if it could be multiple different things. So you had to double tap on the button multiple times for it to activate? Yeah, until I had to hold the phone a little differently or move the phone. Sometimes I have to move the phone and then it activates, but otherwise, sometimes I have to, like, do it, do it like three times, probably before it will activate.

Yeah. So it could be a multiple different things, and I'm not certain what's causing that. Maybe a listener has some ideas that they can share with you if you have to hold your phone at different angles, though, in order for it to activate things that. My mind goes to hardware, but I'm not certain if it's an issue with hardware or an issue with configuration, because I know you've also messed around a little bit with the double tap timeout function of voiceover. So if anyone has any suggestions that might help, beth, feel free to raise your hand. And. Thanks, Bethe.

Yeah, thank you. All right, who do we got next? Sheila Taylor. Hey, Taylor. You are muted. There you go. So I want to answer the question of the day I use AI so much, it's not even funny. I use it for my job. I use it for different projects. I mean, I'm an AI enthusiast, and so AI is everything that I do, and I explore new AI and I write about it and I talk about it online. So what kind of tasks do you do with AI? Well, just name one or two things.

Yeah. Coding primarily and writing and communication. Cool. That's awesome. Thanks, Taylor. Yeah. Welcome. All right, Brad, who do we have in clubhouse? Hello, Brad. Well, to start with, we have Greg. Go ahead, Greg. Hey, Greg. Hello, Michael. Hello, Marty. Hello, everybody.

Mama, Sheila, Bradley, everything, everybody like that. Anyway, I noticed that clubhouse changed a little bit lately. It now tells me more information than I ever wanted to know anyway. It tells me who's listening in a certain room. Yep.

I don't know that. I. I probably do, but I. Who knows? AI may be tracking everything I now and, you know, reading my mind and all that sorts of stuff anyway. But I guess I've fooled around with chat GPT a little bit in writing up program descriptions for an affiliate that I'm in. But.

But, yeah, I don't know. I don't know what my favorite AI companion is, but I do have a question. So what was it now? Oh, my question is this. So, how do I find out what my battery life is on my phone? And how can that help me? Well, I would say, are you on an iPhone? Yeah, I am.

I would say the best and probably the easiest thing to do would be to put the battery widget somewhere on one of your screens. And that will not only tell you the battery life left in your phone, but it will also tell you the battery life of, let's say you have AirPods hooked up or other headset hooked up or anything like that. So I would go into your widgets and add the battery widget, and there's a couple of different versions of it, small, medium, and large. So.

Okay. Okay. Thank you. I appreciate it. I may have one more question for later, if there's time. So thank you. Yep, no problem. We also have Jane on stage. Hey, Jane.

Hello, everybody. Yeah, clubhouse has changed yet again. Great. My question is, I'm kind of sad. Apple, this is shutting down. I have been trying to save most of the guides, and of course, I saved all the podcasts that was ever published. That's the first thing I did. What on that? How do you go about saving, you know, xbased guides and. Well, it would be hard to. I mean, it's HTML, so I guess you could save that. But, yeah, before it goes away in a couple weeks.

Jane, one thing you can do if you want to save HTML is you can just go to the website and select the guide or whatever information you're trying to save and then just copy it to your clipboard. And opening it in a word processor should retain the formatting. In most cases, like if you open it in word or another word processor, they should retain that formatting.

And one other thing that I think is important for people to realize. Yes, as of right now, to the best of my knowledge, Apple, this is shutting down on August 31. But there's a website called archive.org that you can go to and type in applevis.com in the search edit field, and it'll bring up previous versions of the website that is archived that you can go grab the tutorials from or the guides from. So if you don't get everything saved by the end of the month, there are solutions to get content. And because they gave it 30 days before it goes offline, most, if not everything of that website should be archived. So again, that's archive.org dot sheila. Who do we got next?

Alberto? Hey, Alberto, can you hear me? Yes, we can. Okay, I wasn't sure. I'm using my computer. Yep, we can hear you.

So I'm gonna answer the question of the day, and that is, I do use AI more than I would need to or want to or whatever, every single day, 24/7 use AI for like, you know, reading and use AI for, most importantly for, you know, like, visual tasks. Be my AI, Ira, seeing AI, everything. You know, I live on my own, so I obviously need to use it like, I use AI last year for a Mother's Day project where I took a near collage of images and put music and like, the images were so perfect. But my mom was so impressed, all because AI, a blind person doing a video like that is anything you can. Anyways, speaking about AI, I do have a question for the unmute show, and my question is, is there any. I listen to a podcast on the Ray Bana smart glasses, but the podcast was from June 2024, and I was so impressed with the things that it can do. So I was wondering if you have any information or any. Are there any updated, like YouTube demonstrations or demos or information podcasts about recent changes to the AI, the meta AI and the meta glasses? I would like. I'm pretty fascinated with those glasses.

I would say two things. One is this is a rumor. There's no fact yet, but the rumor is they're supposed to have some sort of event or announcement before the end of the year, and they might announce new features, possibly new glasses. I'm not really sure. Some announcement from them by the end of the year. The other thing I would suggest is actually Michael Doyce on Iacast has a really good meta podcast that they did all things meta. So I would check that out. Okay, Michael, you want to chime in there?

Yes. So we. It's on YouTube and on your on podcast catchers. Just search for iacast and it's comparing the rabbit r1 with the meta ray ban glasses. Cindy Hollis did two great community calls that you could find. Those are the ones I listened to. Yeah. Those back in June. Yeah.

Okay. Okay. I wasn't sure if those were the ones and I was thinking they were July. So those are good. And that's pretty relevant. Sunday edition, we just did a talk about those. And so there's resources out there. The glasses haven't changed too much, I can tell you that. It's a big topic on WhatsApp in different places. There's a bunch of different groups talking about those. And really, and truthfully, just looking online, downloading metaview and checking out the tutorials, they really tell you how to do everything with these glasses. And it's kind of up to your imagination to come up with new ways of talking to the AI and getting it to do what you want and what works for some person, somebody may not work for somebody else. So the more you play with them, the better luck you're going to have with them.

All right, Sheila. All right, Ann. Hey, Ann, how you doing? You're still muted. Ann, can you hear me? Yep, we can hear you. Oh, it took me three times. I don't think I use AI. I don't know how to do it, so. But my question for you, Michael, is getting simplisafe. I think you said that you could help me with it one time if I ever wanted to get it.

So I can. Full transparency. We no longer use simplisafe. We had some issues with their cameras not staying connected and. But I do know a couple of other people who do use simplisafe. So I'd be glad to help you out where I can and, and drop us an email to feedback unmute show and let me know what questions you have. Is that a reason for me not to do it? By what you just said, are you. Planning to get outdoor cameras with your system? Yes.

Okay. So I can't speak for the reliability of all of their cameras. I can say that after two cameras would not stay connected to the system. My wife got, I guess, very frustrated, reasonably frustrated, because she wanted to simply open her app and access her camera. Other people have not had problems with that, but that is the experience we had. We have switched to euphy. Eu fi, I think is how you spell it. The cameras are. The app itself is not the most accessible, but once you have it set up, you can bring in some of their cameras to the Apple Home app. So you can go into the home app, tap security, and then tap on the camera that you want to access. And again, some of them, not all of them, give you bi directional audio, so can hear and talk through the camera. And if you're. I believe Ufi also offers security systems as well. I don't have any experience with that right now, but we are exploring their doorbell, too.

So if I want to do simply safe, you. If I had some questions, you could help me. Yep. And if I don't know the answer, I know some people I can ask who do have. Oh. Because I'm not getting more than two cameras, if that. Yeah. Yep. So. And are you only getting the cameras or are you getting the security package as well? With the security package, yeah. Okay. So I can use it with my phone? Correct? You can use it with your phone? Yes.

And I've got a sighted friend who can help me some, but might be able to answer some questions she couldn't answer. Well, perfect. And you have our email feedback on mute. Show. Feel free to drop us those questions. We'll do our best to help you out. Thank you. Appreciate it. No worries. Who do we got next? Sheila. Peggy. Hey, Peggy.

Hello. I do use AI for a few things. I do have the meta glasses, so I use them a lot with those. And also I've used it a fair amount just to, like, look at clothes to come up with the colors. Which. Which t shirt is this? Is it the green one or the red one? Things like that. So I've used it mostly for that kind of thing. And I have used it also to, like, look at pictures that I have hung on the wall and make sure I know what they are. Someone says, oh, I love this picture. I'll know which one it is. I've used it for that. Awesome. My question is in Facebook, and I don't know whether there's anything that I could do about this, but in Facebook, a lot of times I get posts from people and they've written the stuff in, like, a weird font, like, it'll say mathematical, blah, blah, blah, letter a, mathematical small, letter b, you know, something like that. And I'm assuming those are some kind of special characters that they're using, but I don't know if there's anything I can do on iPhone to make it so it just recognizes them and doesn't give that big, long explanation or whatever it's trying to do.

Michael, do you have any ideas? I know what she's talking about. I have some potential ways to solve it. I've seen this, but I'm not sure the solution of that.

So for me, the solution for that, and I'm going to warn you right now and tell you this is not ideal, but you're going to have to get those symbols and figure out what they are. And then you can go into voiceover, into pronunciation, and add each one of those symbols with the proper letter. Someone else may have another solution for you, but that's the avenue I would personally take. And if you have another solution for her, please raise your hand and let us know.

All right, thanks. So it's not some simple thing, right? Yeah, exactly. Okay. They are frustrating. That sounds interesting. There you go. All right, who do we got next? Dan. Hey, Dan, how are you?

Yeah, hi, guys. I use PT for personal research, but I've never actually done projects with it. But it's great. GPT is just absolutely amazing. My question is, I'm having a problem with Winapp for iOS. On iPhone 13, I can't get the radio portion to work. And when I go into settings in the app, in preferences, it shows the default as radio off. I'm using voiceover. There's two radio off buttons and I double tap on each one and it doesn't make any difference. So what can I do about that? So I don't know. If someone knows and uses the Winamp app on iOS, please raise your hand and let us know. I actually just learned that this was a thing a couple of weeks ago. So unfortunately, Dan, I don't have that answer and hopefully someone else is able to help. Okay, I'll stick around.

Sometimes if an app is glitchy, you could uninstall it and reinstall it. Sometimes that helps. You could also possibly write to the developer. Yeah, but there could be another solution too. Yeah, I'll try reinstalling it. Thanks, Lynn. Hey, Lynn. Hi. Can you hear me? We can hear you. How you doing?

Okay, good. My thing doesn't tell me if I'm unmuted, so that's kind of crazy. Anyway. I do not. Well, I use AI with be my eyes. And I'm not really sure what I think of it. I think it has some really good uses, but it could be really scary if it got out of control. So I have a question. I'm trying to help a friend. She just got an iPhone twelve a few weeks ago and she is learning to deal without the home button because she's going from an 8th. When she does a Zoom meeting, she always, when she gets into the meeting, she always has to hit the Wi Fi or cellular data in order to get audio. And I have tried everything that I know. I updated Zoom or tried to update zoom. It was already updated. I have made sure that her, you know, data was on and I don't know where to go. Is there anywhere else I can go? I have a friend who says she doesn't think so.

So there is. And if you stick around, I will tell you where to go and hopefully we can get you that answer here in about five minutes or so. Oh, okay. All right. All right. Hello. Okay. The question that was just asked, she'll need to go into the, in the Zoom app when she's not on a Zoom call and go into settings. And there is a place where you can choose, you know, that you come in using Wi Fi or cellular and you need to have that turned on, need to have that enabled.

So I'm going to interrupt you real quick. So when you go into settings and then you go to meetings and then you go to auto connect Wi Fi or cellular data. Yes, that's on. That is strange because that's what you would do. So at that point, have you tried to remove the zoom app and reinstall it? No, I haven't. That's what I would try now, is to remove the zoom app and reinstall it because I think something's corrupt because I have that on and it works every time for me.

The next thing you try is to go into the settings app on your phone, go to the zoom app and make sure that it is allowed to use cellular or wifi. It is. We check that. Okay, that's the. Yeah, I would remove the app and try again. Yep. Okay. Thank you so much. Go ahead, Pam. Thanks for letting me interrupt.

To answer the question of the day. I use AI, you know, not for everything. I use seeing AI every, just about every day, and I sometimes use be my AI, but I do not use the chat GPT. I occasionally use an app called perplexity. But part of the reason I don't use things like that all the time is that I want to know where the information is coming from, and if it doesn't give resources, I am a little bit suspicious. So that's my take on AI. But I do use the seeing AI a lot and sometimes the be my AI.

Perfect. Well, thank you, Pam. You're welcome. Appreciate it. And Sheila, who do we got next? Elizabeth. Hey, Elizabeth. Hello. Can you hear me? We can hear you. How you doing?

Great. Great. Well, that's another whole story, but yeah, I'm here. Okay, so I noticed first my question and then I'll answer the question. Okay, so I, a couple of things. I noticed that blind bargains is no more, and that so you can comment on that or whatever and so forth. And the other thing is that there is a very useful thing called if you put into a search, quote, terms and conditions do not read, unquote. You will find the nonprofit website whose job is to search through the terms and conditions, which all of us don't read well enough, and find the little things that were not evident. Apparently one of the AI companies was collecting information which they said was going to be aggregated, but apparently was not, and they were going to use it to train AI to serve blind people better. And then they were caught and they backed off. I don't know. Apparently it was all over Reddit. I do not currently use AI. I have followed all the talk about the glasses for the last six months or so in the various iterations, envisioned glasses and now these new meta ray ban glasses and everything. And it's very interesting, but I think there is a lot of possibility for people storing your pictures and or storing information without your consent or in some way that you kind of didn't think you consented to, but did, and given the combination of that and stuff that's being engineered and then shoved back on the Internet, particularly as if a woman does it, you could wind up getting naked pictures of yourself showing back up on the Internet. So just be aware that there are some real security risks with this stuff and try to be as careful as possible. Chansey Fleet did a very wonderful podcast, very wonderful presentation. It wasn't a podcast a week or so ago. I, it's all running together. Yeah, really good. With a lot of information. You are walking around with a camera on your face, so you are opening yourself up to security issues and you're opening other people up. People may not want you to video them, to identify them, and that's a real concern of the people you are taking pictures of. So just be aware.

Get consent from people who you take pictures and video for sure. Yeah, that's a good point to bring up. And that website for people who just want to type it in is to s doctor.org. so tos for terms of service, doctor for don't read. So tos.org, to sdr.org dot. You can just type in a name of a company and it pops up all the information. So thank you, Elizabeth. Appreciate that. Sheila, who do we got next? Lori. Hey, Lori, how you doing? Hi, guys. Hi, guys. Can you hear me? Yep, we can hear you.

Okay. So my answer to the question of the day is, yes, I do use AI a lot. I use my Amazon lady a for weather reports, for bible reading, for news, a couple of podcasts I listen to. And on my iPhone I use seeing AI, and it now has a feature called ask seeing AI. So when I'm reading a label on a product, I want to know, let's say, how can I use this product if it's not described in the document? And AI will come back and say, sorry, I did not find that information in the document. So that's good to know. As for my question, I'm having a problem with s lady on my iPhone. I asked her what the weather is in my area, and she says, I don't know where you are. You need to adjust your settings. And I don't know what settings she's talking about. And also when I go into the weather app on my iPhone, it shows me the weather for Cupertino, California, which I don't live in. I live in Springfield, Massachusetts. So that's my tech question.

In terms of the weather app, you can lock in other locations. Not saying that that is what the issue is with yours, but you want to make sure you're not on one of your saved locations and you're on the one that says current location and it should tell you your current location and what the weather is there. I do know, and I have this issue as well, that in there was an update that came out a few days ago, but it wasn't that update. It was the update that came out before that, which was about a week and a half ago, maybe two weeks ago, that sort of botched Siri and its location services, and it screwed some things up. And there isn't really a whole lot you can do. One of the things is go into your settings, go into location services and make sure it's turned on. With Siri, it is. Yeah, mine was.

I even went into syrian search to look for that, and it's on. So whatever the update. Did it really. Whatever the update did, it really botched her up. Yep. So what you can do, and then we'll move on to the next hand just to help you solve your problem, is say, hey, s lady, what's the weather in and teller, the city and state. And that should solve that for you. Which I've had to do, but I never had to do that before the update. So that's a mildly annoying, for lack of a better word. Okay.

Yes, ma'am. Thank you very much. Thanks a lot. Who do we got next? Terry. Hey, Terry. Terry.

Hi, folks. I have a question. It's a zoom. Zoom question. When I enter a Zoom meeting and I flick to the message that the meeting is being recorded. I know now that I flicked to an ok button. But before I knew that, I tried double tapping on the record button, and I wound up in a place that I could not get out of unless I left the meeting. And leaving the meeting by. Just. By closing zoom, the. The screen had record and two other things. Rotate screen and one other thing, and, oh, it's something like, you are muted. And they did not seem to be controls that responded to being tapped or double tapped or flicked or, you know, responded to. And I just wondered if any of you knew what that that particular screen is and if there's any way out of it. I don't plan to get into it again, as I now know what I need to do to not get into it, but it just seemed kind of curious to me.

So some of those functions. Oh, go ahead, Michael.

So I believe that screen is giving you more details about the recording, about how your meeting is being recorded. And as you saw, there are some buttons that you cannot access. What I would have tried, because I admittedly have not tapped on that, but I would. I would have tried is you muted yourself, Michael. Yep, I muted myself. It's what happens when you push too many buttons, but the scrub gesture. So if you use two fingers, set them on your screen, scrub from the left, right, left, that might take you out of there. If it doesn't, then it's just one of those gotchas that you need to quit the zoom app. Okay.

All right. Thank you very much. No problem, Terry. All right, Carla. Hey, Carla. Hey, Carla. How are you doing? Really well. I'm not very happy because this is going to be my last time I get to be with you guys for a long time. But at least you go back to teaching. That's the fun part, right? That's the fun part, yeah. And you can always listen to us and post if you want to get the podcast after we go off the air.

Yeah, I can do that. I know, but it's not the same. But anyhow, as far, I'll answer the question real quickly and then I have a question. Okay, as far as AI, of course I use the a lady and I use the CNA, you know, be my AI, that AI and trying to learn the AI and envision glasses. And one thing I'd like to learn how to do with the AI is how to learn to do chat GBT and use AI to read scripts and voices for, and make voices and read things for the audio materials that I produce and so that people don't have to get sick of listening to my voice, you know. So I wish there was a tutorial out there about how to use a lesson labs and how to do that because I'd like to be able to do that, but I need some handholding. So my question is, with Zoom, Zoom keeps changing its interface and I am having a terrible time finding how to schedule anymore. There's no, you know, it used to be so much, the interface used to be so much better and it would say schedule and you could just go across and sometimes it'll take me a half an hour to schedule a class, you know, so I wonder if there's any advice for that. And then I go to try to call them and they need some sort of a pin that they say is in your profile and I can't find any such pin. And so I just wonder if anybody has any advice because they, it just keeps changing all the time.

So I do have some advice and some possible help. Number one, send an email to accessoom us and express your frustration with, especially the more recent changes. Because in order to get to a list of your meetings, you have to switch to the meetings tab and tab somewhere around 22 times before you actually get to the list of the reoccurring meetings. So it is a very frustrating experience and I highly encourage anyone who runs into these type of challenges to, especially with Zoom, reach out to accessoom us and provide your feedback to solve the problem. What I have started doing more often than not, and I don't know if this is the solution for you, but there is an outlook plugin. If you're using outlook to be able to schedule the event in your Outlook calendar and then pick a zoom as the meeting location and that will integrate with your Zoom account once you have it set up. Or if you're a Google calendar user, there's a similar add on as well that I found to be the easiest way to actually get a meeting scheduled in Zoom.

So how do you get to that? You know that scheduling? I do. Outlook. How do you get, how do you get that? So if you search Google for Zoom Outlook plugin, you'll find both the download and the instructions. And if you have any problems, drop us an email to feedback, unmute show and we can help further. But that's where I would get started. Search the web with your favorite search engine for Outlook zoom plugin.

Outlook zoom plugin. Okay. And then meanwhile, write to access at. What's that address? Accessoom us. Okay. Okay. Well, thank you very much, and I want to thank you for all that you do, and someday I hope to run into you again. Likewise, Carla, it was a pleasure doing your poetry call and streaming that, so appreciate it. And Sheila, who do we got next? Hey, Eg. Hey, how you doing?

And real quick, before Eg goes afterwards, I'm gonna, before we go on to the next ten, I want to share a really cool outlook tip. Speaking of outlook. So go ahead, Egde. That's a great outlook. Thank you. One of the questions I have is how are you defining AI on the question? Because I consider smart speakers like Alexa, et cetera, as an AI device. We just never thought of them as AI devices, but I think they should qualify because they do artificially speak to us and answer questions. But I do use scene AI quite a bit, particularly when I have very small print that I cannot read. And, and then I also, I'm using Gemini quite frequently because of its chat feature. Thank you, Eji. Appreciate it. Yeah. How do you define AI? That's a very interesting question, Michael. Do you have an answer? I don't think he is. There I am.

Oh, go ahead, Michael.

You know, I define AI as well. AI could be many different things, but AI is typically defined as machine learning. There are many different, you know, things of machine learning. I don't consider, like, you know, a lady s lady necessarily as AI. Yet I think that's coming. But seeing AI is definitely AI. You know, what we have with chat, GPT and Claude perplexity. All those, those are definitely newer AI. Well, and the other thing is there's a difference between generative AI and machine learning. So those are two things to keep in mind there as well. So I think it just, AI is kind of like when we say something's a soda, right? There's many different types of sodas or pops. So AI is kind of the general umbrella term that we use to define those.

Thank you, Michael. Before we move on to the next hand, I want to share this tip. I want Marty to remind listeners of the question of the day and then we'll go through the last about ten minutes or so. So real quick if you need to quickly open a new email. So I want to thank David Goldfield for the suggestion of doing this and I forget who shared this tip with me on Mastodon, but if you need to quickly attach a file to a new email, open outlook classic. When focus is on your inbox, go find the attachment, copy it to your clipboard, paste it into your inbox, and that will create a new message. With the file attached to that message already and the focus in your to field, you can type in the email address, fill out the subject, put in the message and then choose the send button. And your file is already attached so hopefully you found that to be useful. Marty, remind people the question of the day is and then check for your hands.

Yeah, question of the day one more time is how do you use AI to complete a project? Or have you used AI to complete a project? And if so, what was that? Viva. Hi, Stacey. Hey, Stacey again. No, she's not been yet. Oh, no. Hello, Stacey.

Okay, if you consider the Alexa, I use it to do Sunday school lessons. I use it to read the, I use it to read the. I open gospel voice with it to look at the Sunday school lessons, to read conference talk, general conference talks because it's got all this Lds stuff in it and the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and it's got a whole bunch of stuff that's just wonderful. Very good. Well, thank you, Stacey. We appreciate that. Sheila, who do we got next?

Brad? We have somebody in clubhouse. We have Robert on stage. Go ahead. Hey, Robert, how you doing? Good morning, my friend. First, I want to thank you for giving me your solution, how to reset my PC. I did it with your help. Thank you for that. And I use seeing a and Alexa as AI and with the little python knowledge I have, I'm able to develop some simple Alexa and something like that. Thank you.

You're welcome. And thanks for sharing your input on that. Glad to know we were able to help you with resetting your PC. And Sheila, who do we got next? Deborah. Hey, Debra. You're still muted. There we are. I think I. There you go. Now we can hear you. Well, I haven't really used, aih, sort of experimented with it with the independent specialist from Vision loss rehab that we have here where I am in Canada. Right now my smart vision phone is. Oh.

And I just want to, I'll try not to take too much time because I've also got a question here for you as well, but anybody that does have a smart vision phone, the smart vision three most unfortunately, what happened with me was I had it in my purse and I don't know what keys I accidentally hit, but it locked the whole entire phone. Not even sighted help could help me out. My dad said that on the screen, all it showed was a picture of a huge padlock and it said lock for different things on the phone. I can't remember. But the thing is, it doesn't even give you any information in their manual as to how to unlock it. So I had to send it all the way to France. This is where the smart vision phones are made. Like the smart vision three phones and stuff like that. They're made in France. So, yeah, so I just wanted to put that, that little tip out there. I don't know what I'm going to be faced with when it comes back. So. Yeah, now, my other question is for both you, both you guys. I'm, I seem to be having problems getting into my documents on what are. I'm on a desk. I'm on a desktop windows Mac. No, I have windows ten and I have, I do not have the latest in jaws. I think I have jaws. What the heck is it 2022 or something?

No worries. Okay. Yeah. So what exactly is going on? What I would do is go to file Explorer by using Windows key, the letter e. What's happening lately is when I press D, I get something like devices and printers. Let me just see. So I'm into file Explorer now. Yeah, it says devices and drives and when I arrow around it says local disk.

So. So this might take a little longer than what we have time for here. So I'd send an email to us. But where I would start is two things. Number one, to quickly get to your documents, you can always press Windows key r. So hold the windows key down and tap the letter r. And then if you type the word documents with an s, all lowercase and hit enter, that should bring your focus straight to your documents, assuming that your documents are saved in the default area, which I suspect that they are. Okay, so.

Yep. So windows key r, type the word documents, press enter, and then for your file explorer, you may need to shift tab and change the focus of what is currently in view. And if you send us an email to feedback, unmute, show, we can figure out with you what exactly is going on with your filing spawn, how to get that fixed. Okay. Okay. So right now I just did it and it didn't even say documents. I did the windows r, and then I typed out documents and pressed enter. And it didn't say documents.

No. Okay. So yeah, drop us an email or probably what might. Someone else may have a suggestion. So if they do, they can raise their hand. We can help the or we can take that shortly. But you remember, you always can use be my eyes from your phone. But if you don't have a phone because it sounds like your capsiz is gone, you can also call the disability answer desk with Microsoft, and they can help you figure out what changed in the view and they can actually see your computer screen.

Oh, yeah. Okay. I just might do that, too. Yep. Yeah. And if you go to aka Ms. Dad. So aka stands for, also known as Ms for Microsoft. So aka Ms. Dad, that'll get you their phone number. Okay. Okay, that's great, Mike. Thank you. No worries, Sheila. Who do we got next? All right, we've got time for about two more. Julianna Bell. Hey, Juliana Bell. Hi, Juliana. Hello. Hello.

Well, I use AI on the blind shell, but it's not very good. So I tried my iPhone and it's, it's better, but a lot of times I do have to call be my eyes. The be my eyes is what I've been calling, but I'm getting ready to go to Ira. I just don't have a choice. It just, you know, and then I'm thinking about getting the glasses. But I was going to say yesterday, I was talking to a man who has the meta glasses, and he loves, loves them, and I, he said, don't believe everything AI tells you right now. Don't believe it. And he was really just very stern about that thing. And then, of course, we talked about, you know, don't take pictures, but it could accidentally happen. Say, if you say what's to my left and it's somebody to your left and you take a picture of that person but you don't know it.

Yeah. And what happens to. Exactly. And that's something to be aware of. Belt, what state are you in? Alabama. But. So rehab here is awful. I mean, I'm right. However, I don't know if you were aware of this, but if you reach out to a IDB, they. Yeah, but they're bad, too. Okay, then I won't let you know.

I know, I know. I know it. I'm going to have to get an advocate, I'm afraid, because they are so bad. But somebody had a good. Somebody did have some good results with it. We were talking about it in the tech, and she said that if in bits, and she said if I needed help, she'd be glad to help me. So. Perfect. Yep. So anyway, yeah, AIDB does offer free access to Ira, so I would reach out to them and discuss that. Somebody said it was like 80 minutes, and I thought it was just 30.

Nope. AIDB has a, a special relationship with Ira, and I think it's actually 200 minutes. So you get a decent amount of minutes on a monthly basis. But that does require you to reach out to them to explore those options. Okay, perfect. Thanks. A lot of gazillion forms. Hey, you should be able to, you should be able to use Ira to help you fill out those forms. See? Oh, good. Great use of it. All right, who do we got next there, Sheila? Doc. Hey, doc. Hey, doc. You will be our last hand today.

Good morning. I'm having trouble with voicemail. When I double tap it to expand it and it starts talking, voiceover talks over the top of it, and I do a two finger single tap and it'll shut up for a second or so, and then it's right back yakking again. Is there any setting that I can.

I face this on a very regular basis, doc? So what I do is I find the voicemail that I want to play, and before I double tap on the voicemail to play it, I do a three finger double tap, and that turns the speech off. And then I double tap on the voicemail and I listen to the voicemail. And then when I'm done, I do a three finger double tap again to turn speech back on. Okay. So there's no setting that would just do it all the time?

Nope. It's inconvenient. But that is the process that I use right now to be. Well, thank you very much. You could also voiceover cursor to something else, you know, like move the voiceover cursor up to the top where it's not going to change something like that. And that'll hopefully make the talking a little less.

Okay. Thanks, doc. And at that note, I think we will hand it over to Marty to wrap it up for today. Thank you, Sheila. Thank you, Brad. And thank you for tuning in and listening and asking questions. We appreciate the participation, Marty. Yep. And don't forget to tell them about, about apparel, too.

Oh, yeah, we have. If you check out our website unmute show, we've got some apparel on there that's really cool. Sweatshirts t shirts, stuff like that. So go check that out. Really cool unmute stuff. So check that out. Don't forget, Mac bites with bits is tonight eight Eastern. Check out the email today for all the information there. And if you want to get a hold of us, you can reach us at feedback unmute show for any questions, comments or anything else. Everyone have a great week and we'll see you next time.

Yeah. Thank you. Thanks, y'all. Everybody have a great week. Ending, everybody. What's the ending? What's the address to write to again? Feedback at Unbe show. Thank you very much.
