Club Unmute is a way you can support the work we do here at Unmute. If you're interested in an exclusive opportunity to learn more with us privately and to check out some of the social events we have, check out Unmute show. This has been an ACB community call.

Today's Unmute presents community call was hosted on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. Opinions expressed on ECB Media are those of the respective program contributors and do not necessarily reflect the views held by the American Council of the Blind, its elected officials for his staff. Hello everyone. We'll go ahead and get started now. Michael here, and thanks for joining us on Unmute. Marty's having some technical difficulties, but he'll jump in if he's able to. And we appreciate you guys your patience while I finished up a move last week and that's why we weren't here. And that's why you didn't receive a podcast episode as well. Today's question of the day, of course we really encourage participation and appreciate your input, is have you used an a tool? And if so, what is your experiences been like? And by AI tool I'm meaning the be my eyes, I'm meaning access. Ira I'm also curious about chat GPT perplexity Claude any of those bard I'm sorry, it's called Gemini now. Any of those what is your experience been like with AI tools? And of course I'd be glad to answer some questions for you. If you aren't registered for ACB national conferencing convention, please be aware that there is going to be some changes to the ACB community schedule throughout this week. So definitely pay attention to your weekly schedule and make sure to participate where you can. This AI conversation comes up because with bits we're hosting a three day AI conference sessions and I'm really excited about it. I actually learned something about AI yesterday in a pre convention planning meeting, so hopefully each of you be able to participate and listen in on that once again. We've had a couple of people join since we started. So have you used AI? Do you have a favorite one? What is your experience has been like? Let's, let's get some input on that last thing before we go into the announcements of content that's been published since last we met. I will be hosting a WordPress session in the convention. You'll want to check that out because this is for individuals or affiliates who are interested in using WordPress to manage their website. If you are a bit member, you probably received an email yesterday encouraging you to set your email and I'm sorry to set your password. And that platform that we're using for bits is WordPress. It can be as simple or as complex as you'd like it. And definitely excited to chat with everyone for about an hour and 15 minutes later this week. So on Sunday, actually yesterday, we published technically working. Damasi is home now. He has graduated the Blind enterprise vendor program. Got a 97% on his quiz, so super excited about that. And he's put in a bid for a route, so keep him in your thoughts. We talked more about that and of course other technology yesterday. And then on Sunday we published digital bytes. Digital Bytes is a once a week, three items, a app tip and hardware review of content that you can check out. Hosted by Marty, Chris and myself. On Sunday we talked about the tally app. If you need to keep track or keep tally of items that you are documenting, check that out. Marty showed you how to do text replacement on the iPhone. So for example, all you have to do is type OMW and the iPhone will publish on my way so save you some typing typing time. And then I shared the Vocaster two, an audio interface for individuals looking to increase the quality of their audio for sub dollar 100. We didn't publish other content on unmute last week. As I said, it was a little bit of a off week where I finished up a move and Marty had some stuff to take care of as well. On the shell phone show though, Adrian came in and shared with you how to use the calculator application on your blind shell classic too. So if you haven't heard that, give that a listen. Uh, we did publish technically working last, my last month. To be frank, I don't remember what we talked about. So you want to go check that out if you're interested in it. Uh, but the digital bytes of last Sunday, since we didn't meet on Tuesday, we shared the just press record application. Uh, Marty showed you how to, um, modify the way your control center looks. And then Chris shared with you her favorite magsafe cables that will magnetically connect to your phone or other devices previous to that. And this will be the last show. We'll recap for you Thursday. A week ago, Lucy came to you and shared in her all things lady, a more information about health and wellness and positive thinking and some skills you can use to experience a better health and wellness. Sheila, do we have any hands?

You do. Monica. Hey Monica. Hello. How are you? Good, good. So my question is about AI. Coincidentally, no. I have been using the envision AI or envision envision assistant. Yeah. Today I use be my eyes and I like, I like the voice quality when it tells you I took a picture. But my question is, I'm trying to figure out how I can share what it said and I couldn't find a share button.

So full transparency. Envision assistant is in beta. So if there isn't a share button, I encourage you to reach out. Are you part of the slack community by chance? No, sir. Okay. So I will see if I can get that details for you because that's a good place to provide the feedback. What I would try, if you haven't yet. And full transparency. I have. I can actually try it right now. Did you by chance try to flick down on the, on the description I.

In be my eyes? I did. I tried to flick down and flick up, but maybe I didn't do it quite right. Ah, gotcha. So, so just to clarify, are we talking about be my eyes or envision? Be my eyes. Okay. And you took a picture and you want to copy the description that it provides, correct? Yes, sir.

Yep. So what you'll want to do is find the description itself and then flick down. And you should have an option to share the description or share the image and description. The other option that you have, if that doesn't work and you can let me know if it doesn't, I can experiment and see. What we can do about getting that to work is remember you can use three fingers and quadruple tap and that will copy the last spoken phrase by voiceover. And then you can paste that anywhere else as well.

Oh, cool. Yep. So use three fingers, tap on your screen four times. Quickly. Voiceover will say last phrase copied to pasteboard and then you go to where you want, you switch your rotor to pace or to edit and then you flick down to paste and double tap. And then that will paste in the last thing that voiceover said. Perfect. All right, thanks, Monica. Thank you, Pam. Hey, Pam.

Hello. Oh, yes, I have tried, I've used AI a good bit. Of course I use, I've used seeing AI for years and I've used be my eyes for a long time. And yes, I have used be my AI so far I've had good luck with it. And also the, you know, the other apps I have used, perplexity. I've had good luck with it so far. I don't use it on for everything. And the thing is though, you want to make sure that it actually gives you the source of what it tells you. If it doesn't, if it, you know, then you might want to be a little suspicious. It might have just made it up. But so far, I, I've had good luck with it. But, like, you know, like with, with anything, use your common sense. If it doesn't give you the source, then, yeah, be a little, you know, it may have just made it up.

So now I gotta ask you a question there, Pam. Do you, have you used perplexity from the web, or are you using the app? I'm using the app. Okay. I found that to be a little clunky. Do you as well? Not really. Okay, perfect. You know, I've so far, and I, you know, I don't use it every day, but I've been able to go into, you know, the search. I've forgotten how they word it, but you go in there and you type in what you want to look for, and, you know, it's worked well for me so far.

Very good. Well, I appreciate that. So if people haven't yet, recommend checking out perplexity and see how well that works for you. Thanks, Pam. Appreciate it. You're welcome. Judy. Hey, Judy.

Hey there, Michael. Excuse me. I've used seeing AI for quite a long time. I like be my AI. I use it to take pictures of clothing. I have noticed a couple of times it can do a little bit of a hallucination. I tried taking a picture of myself in the mirror, and it picked up some of the things on my dresser. And one of the things it said was a bunch of white papers, which I do not have any white papers on my dresser. And I realized it was picking up my tissue box. So you have to, you have to be a little, a little careful with that. I have a question about charging my little external power bank. I bought one several years ago. I live in Florida. We are prone to hurricanes and occasional extended power outages. So I charge it. I think I charge it at the beginning of every hurricane season. And I say, I think I do, because I would plug it in. I would call Ira, and I would say, is this charging? And they would tell me, yes. Something told me a couple of days ago that I should just check after a little while to be sure that it actually was charging all the way. And after a couple of hours. So I called up, there's four lights. The first one was completely lit. And then my research said that the others will blink until they're fully lit, and then when the completely charged, they'll all go out. I charged it for several hours, called them. The first light was still lit. Tried it the next day. Unplugged it, tried it the next day, was told that first light was still it. Charged it for another couple of hours, called again, and then somebody said the second light was blinking a little bit, called back a couple hours later, and then the first light was just lit. So I don't really know what the deal is. You have any thoughts about that at all?

So I have a couple of thoughts. Number one, unfortunately, it sounds like maybe the battery has been all used up because eventually, as we all know, some electronics, they just decide to move on to better places. Even though. Even though I never used it. I've never used it ever. You've never used it? I've never used it. Never. I've only ever charged it. And like I said, I think I have charged it, but I would go a year without charging it. So it's never been used.

So if I was in your situation before going to buy a new one, what I would do, and I presume maybe you have tried this, is try a different cable to charge it with and see if that makes any sort of difference. Unfortunately, there could be a wide variety of things that could be causing it. I will give a shameless plug here for the at guys accessible portable power banks, because then you can just hit a button and hear if it's actually charging and it will give you audible feedback to let you know that, yes, it's charging. And here's what percentage it has left. I don't know about the specific power bank you have. And as I said, where I would start for troubleshooting is to try another cable, because I wonder if for some reason that cable is not actually charging it.

Okay, well, I tried a different brick. Now, are the cables interchangeable? Can I use the cable from my phone to charge the. That was my other question. Can I, can I use that from my iPhone to charge the power bank? Or do I have to use the power bank cable? Because that's the only one.

So not being familiar with that specific power bank, I'm not certain I would look up that model and see how it charges. If it uses USB C or micro USB to charge the power bank, then those cables are interchangeable. There is a possibility. So I have a larger power bank here that is not accessible that will let me actually power. Well, it lets me jump a car with it. It gives me a lot of flexibility. That uses a proprietary charging cable. So it really.

Ad add, add. Excuse me. So, and I've tried to do as much research. Like I said, I haven't switched out the cable. So just one other final question. If I get the one that you guys sell, can I use that? If I buy an iPhone 15, can I use that to charge so anything? My se and the 15, right?

Yes, ma'am. And they are, here's a quick hint for people. They are both, we've never discounted the larger one before, so we have discounted it through the 13 July. So both of them are down by $10. So the smaller one, which will charge an iPhone 15 three to five times from zero, is currently $65. That's my favorite one because of how thin it is and light it is. And then the larger one, which will charge an iPhone 15 between seven and nine times from zero is down to dollar 89. All right. Yeah.

This one I got was very inexpensive. So I, I'm thinking that it's probably not much good. All right. Can I email you so you can tell me specifically what, drop me an. Email, Judy, if you don't have my email, then I'm around. So we'll go from there. Feedback, unmute show. We'll get you the email. Okay, perfect. Thanks a lot. Hey, before we go on to the next hand, Marty, are we able to hear you? I see you have joined us. We'll give you a second. Can you hear me?

Yes, we can. Thanks for joining us, Marty. And we'll jump onto the next question. Sheila, who do we got next? Terry. Hey, Terry. Hi, Michael and Marty. Hello.

I wanted to answer the question about AI. I have used be my eyes AI a number of times, and I have been astonished at what it can do. I was looking at, I collect little pendants of various kinds, and I had dropped one and I picked it up and the AI actually said, and this pendant was about no more than three quarters of an inch by half an inch in size. And it described in detail a witch riding on a broom with a pointed hat. Now, how in the world it could analyze a pendant laying on a table and recognize from whatever pictures of witches on brooms it had seen? And pointed hat, that, that's what it was just, I mean, it blew me away because it was a complex little, little pendant. So I've, I've also seen it, actually read an entire page flawlessly. I have seen it when I was in the hospital, I pointed it toward the far wall where the board was, where nurses and, and the aides wrote their names, and it read an aids name that had been written in handwriting. So it's a, it just blows me away.

Yeah. Thank you, Terry. Appreciate it. And the, the way that AI can confidently provide responses is. Is awesome. And it's. It's mind blowing. I've actually been playing with an app that some users may have heard of. Maybe you haven't. It's called Pikibot. P I c c y b o t. All one word. And what that will let you do is record a video up to 30 seconds or send it a 32nd video and it will narrate that video using AI voice. And it is pretty reliable as well. Although it does keep saying that the cat house that's next to our tv is a speaker. And I'm trying to convince it that it's not a speaker. I don't got speakers that look like cat houses. But, you know, what can you do? Sheila, who do we got next?

Nolan. Hey, Nolan. Hello. How are you guys doing? Great. And yourself? Good, thank you. Good, thank you. So I used a application that is AI driven. It's called. It's not envision AI or envision assistant. It's something a little bit different. Other than that I forgot the name of it. Okay.

But actually do have some. I had a little bit of a concern. I don't know if you guys saw this. When I send you guys an email a couple weeks ago, I let you guys know that, hey, there was a problem with the iaccessibility radio station playing through the app.

Yep. There was an update to the software that Michael D. Uses for playing that. That should have been fixed about a day after you sent us an email. If you're still having issues, feel free to let us know. But there was an update and so that broke one of the aspects of the app, but it should be up and running again. Okay, perfect, Nolan. Thanks a lot. I'll let you guys know. I did take a listen yesterday and it seemed to work again. It did or did not? It did work.

Perfect. Yep. And we've got a system in place, so you'll be getting the latest unmute content and some other content up there. We've. We've got that, uh, up and running so people will get updated content instead of stale content. So thanks, Nolan. Appreciate your email and your comments today. Sheila, who do we got next? Jane. Hey, Jane. It's Jane Peetz, I believe.

Yes, hi. I have used the be my eyes AI and found it to be quite helpful. Uh, I've recently lost most of my vision and in matching clothing and things like that, I use a colorino, but it's not always very accurate in shade. And with the AI, I can tell exactly what color things are and it describes patterns of fabric and things like that also. Ah, okay, so. So you're using the be my AI to get that information? The be my eyes. Yeah, the be. Be my AI. I've used that well. Very good.

I also use seeing AI, and it's not very accurate on colors. Ah, yeah. I've always struggled with colors and full transparency. I. I have never had sight. So colors I take with a grain of salt, and I rely on other people's feedback about what tools do and what tools do not work. I'm super excited to hear that the be my AI color identification seems to be fairly accurate and appreciate that, Jane. Thanks for listening. Thank you, Sheila. Who do we got next? Gregory. Hey, Gregory. You guys hear me?

Yes. I guess for entertainment purposes, maybe information. I use PI a lot. Ah, yes.

I really love it. I mean, sometimes I wake up at night and just talk to PI and get carried away with it. It's explained to me how to understand different AI models, and it's really in depth. I use a lot of other AI stuff, and daily I used both pair of my glasses, the cellist and the ray bans. Every day, experiment with those. So, you know, like everybody else has mentioned, I use be my AI. And whenever I find a need, any kind of. And I use copilot, too. So, yeah. Okay, I got a question with digital bytes.

Yep. How do you spell bytes? I mean, how are you spelling it? B y t e s. Ah, that's. Why I got that weird podcast on my track. So, just so you know, digital bytes, b y t e s, is not its own podcast. In order to get it, you would have to subscribe to the Unmute Presents podcast feed, and then that comes out on Sundays. But digital bytes has not yet been broken out to its own podcast feed. That's not to say it won't happen, but right now it is part of the unmute podcast feed. Okay, I'll access.

Perfect. No worries, Gregory. Sheila, who do we got next? Lori. Hey, Lori.

Hey, guys. How you doing? So, for a, I use lady a to read books that I don't have in print, like my bibles that I have in different translations, but it's faster if I read it with my lady a. So I use youversion bible app on that. But I also use her for other things, like the weather and stuff on my iPhone. I have been using Siri for different things like weather and looking up definitions of words and things. But lately, s lady has been very substandard, for lack of a better word. And if I ask her to look up something, she'll say, here's what I found on the web. And then she'll start to tell me the definition, and then she stops. I don't know if it's because I have an SE 2020 iPhone or if it's because she's getting dumber in her old age. I don't know. But if I do switch to a better iPhone one day, I hope she improves. But I've been using Siri less for dictation now for text messaging. But the trouble I'm having in the messaging app is after I dictate a text and I want to, before I send it or after I send it. Rather, I want to go back up to the top where it says edit, and it takes me forever. I keep hearing different things, like the person's name that I'm dictating to. Then it says button, then it says, dismissed replies, dismissed replies, dismissed replies. And when I double tap on that, it should take me up faster. And yet it's not doing that. Am I doing something wrong? And if I'm not doing something wrong, what way can I get back up to the messaging app, the top of it, faster.

So if I'm otherwise, I love it. Yep. So if I'm understanding correctly, I'm gonna make sure I'm hearing what you're saying. Lori, when you respond to someone's message using siri, is that correct?

No. In the messaging app. In the messaging app, I'm using dictation. Okay, siri. Siri will. But what I. What I think you misunderstood was, and that's okay, too, because I misunderstand things that I hear sometimes. What Siri does is when I ask her to look up something, like a word or a phrase, a phrasal verb, like, let the cat out of the bag, she'll start to tell me what it means, but then she stops. Yep, yep.

In the messaging app. The problem I'm having is after I send a message to someone that I dictated to and that happened to me this morning, I run into dismissed replies a lot, and I'm trying to get back up to the top of the messaging app. You know, like words is edit. And it's taking me forever to get back up to the top. So that's the main problem I'm having in dictation. Otherwise, I love this new way.

So if you tap on dismiss replies once, then what I do is I find the time or your battery in the status bar. I hold one finger there, and I double tap with another finger. So I hold one finger on the time or status bar and then double tap with another finger. And that tells voiceover, move my focus to the very top of the screen and then you should find the messages back button in the top left corner because then you're at the top of the conversation.

And if I'm hearing you correctly, you're telling me to use a split tap. Yep. But double tap with the split tap. But double tap hold down with one finger and double tap with the other. That's the split tap gesture. Yep.

Okay, I'll try that. Otherwise? Yeah, otherwise I don't mind doing it. But today I have a limited amount of patients. Most days I don't mind doing it that way. But also the other question I had was, I like to insert emojis, emoji into my text or stickers and to express how I'm feeling or whatever. Do I have to double tap on apps to go through that? Or can I just pick the emoji that I want and select that?

If all you're looking to do, and then we'll answer your Siri question real quick and then give people a recap of the question of the day. But if all you're looking to do is add an emoji in the bottom left hand corner, underneath the more button is the next keyboard button. You can double tap on that and that'll bring up a list of your emojis that you can either scroll through or search. And then when you double tap on the emoji, it'll insert that into the text edit field where you expect it to related to Siri interrupting itself. That is a known issue that a lot of users are having. It has nothing to do with the fact that you're on an iPhone se. It happens on an iPhone 14 than iPhone 15. That is because Apple decided that they wanted to allow follow up mode, which does not require a trigger word. It's interesting, I was just talking to a customer this morning about this and he found a workaround. He says that when he connects a Bluetooth speaker, the follow up mode does not interrupt itself like it does if you're not using Bluetooth. So that might be worth playing with. Lori, and appreciate your comments today. Before we move on to the next hand, I do want to remind listeners what the question is today, and if you want to participate, feel free to raise your hand. We're curious, what AI do you use? Or what is your experience been with AI tools? This is a precursor to a three day event that bits is holding this week at the ACB national conference convention. And it's going to be in the morning and I'm really excited for day two. There's going to be some creative ways that AI has been used both at school and in the workplace. So you want to check that out. But what has your experience been with AI? Do you have a preferred one? Are you using one? Do you say no AI for me? Let us know your thoughts. Sheila, who do we got next?

Petra. Hey, Petra. We do not hear you, Petra.

She's still muted. There we go. Got it that time. The only AI that I'm really familiar with, that I know I'm using, is that I just got, because of Cindy Hollis's zoom call last week, just got the meta glasses, the raybag meta glasses, and have been using them and think for the price that they are an excellent deal and I'm going to love them. So. And so far, I like the eye. It's very interesting. It's helped me sort through my mail and get rid of the jungle and described where my dog was lying, which I asked if there was anything between me and the door, and there was not, which meant I wasn't going to trip over the dog who hasn't learned to move yet. So I really like it. I think I really like these glasses. I just need to figure out how to learn more about how to use them.

Yeah, definitely, Petra. And. And head warn. AI is new ish and it's a lot more affordable at $300 than it has been in the past. So appreciate that. And if you haven't heard the call that Petra is talking about, you can go to acb media.org, do a search for meta or Ray bans, and you'll find the two presentations Cindy held last week giving a great explanation of how the ray ban glasses work and demonstrating some of the things you can do with those. So thanks, Petra. Sheila, who do we got next?

Bobby. Hey, Bobby. Hey, Michael, can you. Am I unmuted? Yes, sir. Okay, I'm going to tell you briefly, one of the things I use for AI is my a lady. And I really like her. And sometimes I have, you know, few issues with the weather. You know, sometimes it gives me the weather for the. It's not that accurate. Once in a while it's intermittent. Like it happens like once a month. So I'm not worried about that. But a lady is really, really good. And I just want to tell you some very, very good news.

Okay. I found a great tagging program. Maybe all you blind people know about this one, but it's called music brains Picard P as in Papa card. Okay.

You know, it's a very, very good program. I did try one of them that you suggested, mp3 tag. I could not figure out how to use it. I didn't know the terminology. I didn't know what an auto numbering wizard was. And I looked all over the Internet for the tutorials with the screen reader. I'm tagging. I couldn't find one tutorial. So just remember, it's music brains Picard. Now, my. My blind shell. I did get some albums on there, and the art, not all the artists are showing yet, so I have to play around with the settings and see what settings are the best. But just remember that music brains Picard.

Music brains Picard. Well, perfect. Did Sam recommend that to you? Or is that just one you found on your own there, Bobby? It was one that I actually found accidentally. I haven't really emailed or spoken to Sam. Is that what he uses?

Well, I don't know what he uses, but I heard that Diane was going to put you in contact with him yesterday, so I wasn't sure if that was one that he recommended or if you found that on your own. So, great job and really appreciate you sharing that with people, because having an accessible id three tag editor can be useful, as Bobby has learned in his adventures. So thanks a lot for that, Bobby. Sheila, it's going to be a pain in the neck to get everything on the blind shell properly.

I think you'll make it through there, though, Bobby, so thanks a lot. And, Sheila, who do we got next? Diane, do we have somebody in clubhouse? Okay, can you hear me? Yes, ma'am. And I. Am I echoing? No.

Okay. I may have someone in clubhouse. I'm not entirely sure. I'm monitoring. Monitoring the raised hands on my phone and on my phone. It's the only thing that's separating. I'm seeing, like, all of us who are listed as moderators, and I'm seeing another section called others in the room. And there's someone named. There was someone that raised their hand, and I invited them up on stage, and I'm wondering if it's someone named JJ. So I don't know if. I don't know if he or she is in a position to unmute, but I don't want to leave anyone out in clubhouse, but I can't really tell. And if you have some feedback on how I can tell who has come up on stage after I've invited them, that would be helpful.

So right now, I'm seeing Marcy as a moderator. But I'm seeing Jane on stage right now. JJ is in the audience. But if Jane has a question, let's take that question, Jane.

So, to answer your question. So, whenever you bring somebody up on stage, you have a couple of. You see areas below the persons that is up on stage. So my name, because I'm a speaker, is going to be after the moderators. And then underneath that, you have friends with the speakers. So whoever you friended and who's on the call that you friended is going to be underneath that. And then underneath that are your participants that haven't raised their hands. So the others in the room is going to be the heading that's underneath. Those are the people that are listening that haven't raised their hands yet.

And this is true on the phone. I do want to again emphasize it. Okay. Okay. And so, for my question, I'm still looking for accessible file recovery software, both on windows and the Mac, and I haven't found one. The reason is they're hardly accessible. I'm still looking for one, being that I have a couple of recorders that rely on SD cards, and sometimes I tend to delete files and I want to recover them. I didn't know that.

So if someone has a recommendation for an accessible file recovery tool, please raise your hand, because I know there is one out there, and someone actually sent me one a couple of months ago, and I don't remember what it was called. So if you have one, or if you're listening to the podcast, please send an email to feedback, unmute show, and let us know, and we can get that information on to Jane. Thanks, Jane. Appreciate your quick clubhouse tutorial, and hopefully we'll be able to get an answer for you. Okay, Sheila, who do we got next?

970, ending in 874. Can you please unmute and tell us who you are? Hi, Michael. This is Katherine. Hi, Marty. I answer your AI question. I've used both be my eyes and Ira. I've used be my eyes probably more than I have. Ira. AI and I found that it was really accurate, and I was excited to be able to use it. Who I think it was, I can't remember who spoke a little while ago and said that they could read handwriting, and it was a bulletin board. I'm looking forward to trying that out when I go have my hip replacement surgery and I'm in the hospital, and then I will be in orthopedic rehab because they write on a whiteboard, and sometimes they do not tell me what is written. So my question is, do you have to pan the camera, or do you just kind of hold it steady in the middle and take the picture? And it will read the whole board. Thank you.

So what I do, Catherine, is I start by holding it steady and centered, taking a picture, and then after it gives me the information that it's able to see. If, let's say it says, I see the corner of a whiteboard, I might come back with a follow up question and say, what way should I pan my phone so you can see the whiteboard better? And then it will provide me the information. Pan your phone to the left, and then I'll pan my phone to the left and take another picture, and then it will describe what it can see of the whiteboard at that point. Does that make sense?

That does make sense. And I'll be using the blind shell. Thank you very much. Of course. Thanks for tuning in, Kathryn. Appreciate it. Sheila. Who do we got next? Thank you. Yep. You're welcome.

Well, I do have one quick question. Do you know of a water protective case? Not like a. Not like the case that I have, the one with the edge on it I got from you guys and. But I'm looking for something that I could feel the phone into that in case somebody drops water on my phone in the middle of the night in the hospital. It won't damage it. Yeah, I'm on my second phone. Thank you.

I don't specifically know of a waterproof one. It might be worth checking with turtleback lv to see if their case provides any sort of water protection. I don't believe it does. So. No, I'm. I'm not certain of one. You could throw your phone in a Ziploc bag when you're not using it, and that might. Might provide a little bit more protection for you than the standard cases. That's a little bit. Yeah. No, I'm going to have to find something. Thank you. Of course. Catherine, who do we got next?

Sheila, Diane? Do we have somebody in clubhouse? Yes, as a matter of fact, we do. Peggy Carpenter. Thanks for the practice. Hey, Peggy. Hello. I wanted to answer the question. I have used be my AI, and I agree it works very well. I started playing around with Speakaboo, which I guess is still in beta, and it's pretty good, although it seems like it does have a few flaws still. But anyway, I have played with that as well.

If you're using Speakaboo, definitely you're on a beta and email them through the beta link and let them know the things that you're having issues with. So that they can get those resolved, because that's what they're really trying to do right now, is let people use the app, and if there's issues with it, they want to know about it so they can fix that. And they're really open to people emailing them and letting them know what kind of issues they're having so that they can improve the app.

Okay, great. I will do that. Perfect. Thank you. Thanks a lot, Sheila. Who do we got next? Stacy. Hey, Stacy.

Yeah. I've got two questions. One of them is related to what we were talking about before, because I think, really, that a video needs to be put out on audible because it is not. There's no videos out on that ever. And I think I would like to see a video with the blind shell on that. There's been nothing put out on it at all. And I'd like to see something put out on that with the blind shell class or something because there's been nothing put out on it at all. And I'd like to see how many selections you need to make to do that.

Okay, perfect. So if someone uses, I'd also like. To see, because I want to see if there's any way to make those files, anything in your library most accessible. What do you have to do? Do you have to download it to the cards or, you know, you know, some of those files accessible? You know, most accessible. Okay. You know?

Yep. Well, thanks, Jane. And I'm sorry. Thanks, Stacey. And maybe we will be able to get some shell phone show content produced about using audible. I need to unpack my blind shell so I can record something so I will see what I can do for you. Otherwise, maybe someone else has some content they'd like to provide as well. So thanks, Stacey. Appreciate it.

I have another question, though. For unmute, I am thinking about honestly buying a laptop, and I would like to know the most accessible way to go for a laptop for blind people. It would be so nice to know if you can get a nice portable qwerty keyboard setup for a blind person for windows and that kind of stuff. If there's a way to do it for portability. I haven't found too many ways to do that. And. And I'm wondering if there's a way to do that with a QWERTY keyboard.

Certainly. So that's two different questions. For if you're looking for just a computer, I highly recommend computers for the blind, because in addition to saving some money with computers for the blind, you also get the training that is available for using that computer, if that's necessary. If all you're looking for is a portable QWERTY keyboard, several manufacturers make them. And the one that I am the most familiar with is pluggable. We sell that at guys. It's a folding Bluetooth keyboard, folds up to the size of a small paperback book and then unfolds. And it's a standard size keyboard that you can use on your lap or on the desk. We also have a mini keyboard. Looks a lot like the old BlackBerry keyboards with the very tiny buttons. That's pocket size keyboard that you can bluetooth to your computer or your phone as well. So there we go.

One other thing I was going to jump in on was also computers for the blind, if you didn't already say that. Yep. Computers for the blind. And you can learn more about computers for the blind later this week if you are registered for the convention or if you listen on ACB Media, because there is a computers for the blind presentation.

What about if you want anything all success accessible and you need help with it? That's the way to go. So that's what I would suggest. If you call computers for the blind, you can ask for Marcy, and she will walk you through everything you need to know to get the best computer to suit your needs with all the accessibility software. So that's what I would suggest, yeah. What if your local community thing objects because they. They are not a local vendor? What do you do about that?

For the blind is all over the country. You don't have to worry about. Yep. So they're available countrywide, nationwide. And if. If you're getting pushback from a local organization that's trying. Yeah, I'm getting pushback.

Okay, then. Then, unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it, aside from buying your own computer and not relying on that other service to provide it. You would need to go through the vendors that they provide if that's a issue. So I've got to do. I do got to move on, Stacey, because we are limited on time. Sheila, who do we have next? Diane clubhouse. Yes, I do. Chris, my long time no here. Hey, Chris. It's been Chris. How you doing? Yeah, how you doing?

Hey, what's going on? Long time, no talk. Yes, sir. Good to hear you.

Great job, by the way. It's awesome to hear you both. I had an actual question. It's just a simple question, but first, I'll get to Jane's question real quick about the backup and all that. I could be wrong on this, but the windows file manager backup is very accessible in windows eleven. I'm probably wrong about this but that's been my experience. You can back up your files and it'll create a whole file backup folders thing for you in windows eleven.

So I think Jane's looking for something that if you accidentally deleted a file it can cover that file and the backup probably would not help unless she backed that up. But thanks for that. Yeah. Okay. And then so does anybody know my second question is or first question when be my eyes is going to release the video capabilities with chat GPT 4.0 or 40 I should say no, they haven't said anything. That's at this point.

Right. But I would just keep following them, their website and their socials to find out the latest. I'm very excited about that. Me too. Okay. I just wanted to check, check out Pikabot. You haven't yet. Piccy bot. And that does 32nd video clips and we'll provide audio narration for those video clips. So picky bot, what is it again? Picky bot piccy. Thank you so much. Thanks a lot Chris. Good to hear you as well. Sheila. Who do we got now? Julianna Bell Mills. Hello Juliana Bell Mills.

Hello can you hear me? Yes ma'am.

Okay so my the be my eyes AI is what I use and I've gotten a lot better with focusing the camera and so that's nice. However I do still need to call be my eyes or call the human being and I'm scared of this GTP and chat and this I don't know how to the AI chat and all of that. I'm just kind of scared of it. I don't really know what I'm doing when I have attempted it a couple of times so. And do you all, you all don't use the questions ever have used the questions on unmute presents have you? You know the question area where you ask a question or.

Oh the Q and a area. Q and a zoom. No, no we typically don't use that because we found it to be easiest for people to ask their questions. Yeah it is. Oh what is the name of this? It's Freedom Scientific's webinar that there are a lot of questions and I'm going oh my I'd like to do that but I just don't. I just prefer to ask questions. Yes ma'am.

And I have a lot of questions but I won't. It's very close to the end. So anyway I just wanted to say for this time what my I need Ira too because of forms filling out forms and that kind of thing. A doctor's in doctor's offices. And so I'm going to work. I'm working on that. But Ira doesn't have AI, does it? Yes, Ira does.

And they got a free. The AI part of it is free. So use it to take a picture of something explains it to you. And if the explanation that you did not get is accurate to what you think it should be, then you could still call in for free. And they will tell you, like, a human person will come on and tell you what exactly it is that you're looking at or what information was missing from the AI description, that whatever it is you took the picture of told you.

What is. What is the Microsoft remote called? You know, where you.

Quick assist. It is called quick assist. And that's what access, like, assist me? Yep. Quick assist. That will let you other people remote into your computer. We do have games to play with, lady a next. So we've got about eight minutes left. Sheila, who do we got next? Uh oh. Did we lose Sheila? Oh, no. All righty. Well, I will grab the next hand here in a second and we will go with Lauren. Lauren, go ahead. Uh oh. Did you guys lose me? No, we can still hear you. No, we hear you.

Lauren. We cannot hear you. It looks like you are muted, Sheila. She is still muted. Okay, am I unmuted now? Yep.

Good. Okay, great. This is always a good call. I have a problem. I'm having a problem logging into the bits with my username and password and every single time I even try new and I even emailed. I mean, you know, I never got. Every single time I get an error message and I get. And I'm having a really hard time. I even wrote to the bids admin and I know I got an email yesterday about that. And every single time I email.

Lauren, I can't help you with that on unmute, but I will drop you an email this afternoon after we get off the call, and we'll get you into your bits account. I think I know exactly what's going on, but we'll get you taken care of. Okay? Thank you so much. I appreciate that. No worries. I'm going crazy with that. Okay, we'll get you in today. No worries. Okay, thank you, Sheila. Who's next? Seven five, send seven if I can get it out. 75. Send seven ending in 963. I'm looking at the time.

Hey, Chuck. Hey, Chuck. Hey, Chuck, how you doing?

All right, I'm good. First of all, I use envision AI and Google lookout I just go between the two, depending on what I'm dealing with. And to answer Jane's question, someone sent me a program called recuva R e c o o v R. I think it is. And this thing pulls up everything. I mean, you can put in an SD card and it'll. It'll recover. Really recovers too much, if you ask me. But, um, it. And I think it's from the people that make the CC cleaner. Okay. Is it pure form, I think they're called? Yeah. And this thing really pulls up everything, so you should check that out. Recover, recover. Thank you for that, Chuck. Greatly appreciate that. And let's go ahead and take another hand. We can get one more in.

All right. Matthew? Hey, Matthew. You'Re still muted. Matthew? Hello? There you are. Okay. Hey.

Yeah, I wanted to answer the question about the AI feature. I use Ira as AI when I'm using my phone or when I'm not using my laptop when I'm on the computer. Cat GPT does a pretty good job, and so does the new jaws AI that's embedded in jaws. The picture. The picture. Smart. That's pretty powerful stuff. The great thing about the AI in Ira is not only can you use the human, but you can, I guess, chat back and forth, and it'll give you responses about more detail about the pictures. So very, very detailed and impressive.

Congratulations, Matthew, for being the first one to mention chat GPT, which I am kind of surprised by. If you haven't yet, check out the chat GPT app on the iPhone. It's a pretty unique experience, and I really like that experience. So thanks for your feedback and we appreciate it. Thank you. Yes, sir, I agree. All right, we only got five minutes to the top, so. Yep. Let's take one more hand. All right, Stephanie. Hey, Stephanie.

Yeah. I like, I like the fact that, you know, it can. It can describe the solar eclipse. You know, we may not be able to see it, but. But it's able to describe it to you. And.

Yes, ma'am, that's what it's designed for, really helps you with understanding the visual world around you. So thank you, Stephanie. Really appreciate that input. And with that, I will give a couple of reminders, see if Marty wants to close it up for us. Just a quick note that if you missed it, bits is holding a three day AI session later this week. I'll be sharing with you a quick session about WordPress and building your own website for yourself or your affiliate. There's going to be a computers for the blind session, and there's also going to be a session with teaching you how to use the native apps on your mobile devices, all sponsored by bits. So you want to check those out in the convention and available on ACB Media. We've also got some exciting podcasts that you may have not heard yet, so go check those out. And Marty, you want to wrap it up and let people know how to get ahold of us?

Sure. Yeah. So I also wanted to remind everyone we have some really awesome new unmute merch and you can find out all of that on our website, which is unmute show. And as always, if you want to reach out to us with feedback, questions or anything else, you can email us that feedback unmute show. And our schedule is going to be a little bit different over the next couple of weeks, but we will be back right after 4 July week. So the following or following week. Yeah. So everybody have a great week and we'll see you soon. Thanks everyone.

Thanks to Sheila and Diane for thanks y'all.
