Episode description

How do historians build their career, what motivates them and how they deal with professional and personal challenges? What shapes their professional path? Dr Michael Green from the Faculty of Philosophy and History welcomes you to his podcast, where he will be inviting interesting guests to explore their stories.

The guest of the 19th episode of the podcast “Historians in Conversation” is Prof. Aneta Pawłowska from the University of Lodz in Poland. She is the first art historian invited for the podcast, and in this episode she will tell Michaël Green about her academic career. Coming from an educated family in Lodz, she realised early on her passion was the history of art. The conversation will revolve around the way that she navigated her academic career, her scholarly and personal interest in local and international research. She is the author of important works, such as Studia o sztuce polskiej XIX i XX wieku (Studies in the 19th and 20th Century Polish Art) (2017); “The Art of Miss Irma Stern: Ugliness as a Cult”, Roczniki Humanistyczne, 70:4 (2022).
