Episode description

In the latest episode of Understanding Men, Luke and Fraser are joined by elite performance coach for professional footballers and host of the Footballer's Mindset podcast, Rob Blackburne. Rob was very vocal in sounding the alarm over the mental health issues existing within professional football and has now run therapy sessions with countless young players. Most recently, Rob has run 7 marathons in 7 days for the James’ Place Charity which provides life-saving treatment to men in suicidal crisis.

Through the episode, Rob shares some of the approaches he takes with young players, and how he teaches them to shift their mindset. From his own experiences with poor mental health, he explains how he connects with people and shares the importance of getting out of one's comfort zone. He also shares common fears that many professional players have and how preventative measures can often prove to be the most effective.
