ABOUT TODAY'S GUEST:
LaTasha holds two degrees in Social Work.  She has served as the Johnson County community projects specialist, director of the Iowa City Senior Center and on the Iowa City Community School District board where she was the first African American woman to serve the school board in 30 years. 

As an alum of the National Juvenile Justice Network Fellow in Youth Leadership Institute and Chair of the State of Iowa Disproportionate Minority Contact Committee, she has been involved in justice system reform efforts.

LaTasha is a fierce advocate for women of color is the co-founder of several organizations and programs for women and girls of color in the State of Iowa including the Sankofa Outreach Connection, Black Women’s Maternal Health Collective and The Sound of LaLa Land, a vocal production company.

Her efforts have not gone unnoticed as she was the recipient of the Corridor Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award in 2017.  She was honored for her service to the community as well as her honesty, humility, and ability to effectively work through contentious situations.
