Episode description

Stig of the Dump was one of the memorable children's TV shows of the 1980s, based on the hugely popular book by Clive King.

But whatever happened to the actor who played the eponymous character?

Keith Jayne had already appeared in some massive TV dramas - such as the Onedin Line and Upstairs Downstairs - before landing the part of Stig. He was also one of the cast of Murphy's Mob, another great TV hit in the 80s.

In this conversation with Steve Randall, Keith talks about those amazing days in TV, the impact on his life of playing such an iconic character as Stig, and how standing up for victims of a medical treatment led to an early halt to his career because producers thought he was dead - or about to be!

Keith has been living in Cornwall and running a financial services business for many years but still has some acting parts he would love to play. He talks about the challenges of getting back into the business.
