Welcome to UFO Headquarters on Hudson River Radio and welcome to part two of Strange Entities. And as a strange entity myself, I'd like to introduce Linda Zimmerman, another strange entity. Thank you very much. Yeah, we we had some fun with the last list of bizarre ones, and boy we've got some more. So yes, shall we dive in.
Let's do it all right, We're going to Italy. Have you been to Italy? I have not been to Italy. Oh God, I've got to get there. The history, the food, Yeah, yeah, okay, So we are going to December sixth, nineteen seventy eight, a cold, icy night in the Italian town of Toilia, which is about twenty miles northeast of Genoa. Their twenty six year old Pierre Fortunado Zanfretta, is a night watchman for the area, not just in one building that he drives all
around to different spots. He's married, has two kids. By all accounts, just a normal quiet family man. He's making his rounds. The driving is very dangerous because of the ice and he's checking on the home of doctor Ettore Rigi, who was not there at the time, and suddenly the engine of his Fiat car dies. The lights and rap go off, kind of
sounds like em effects or bad engineering. So now he's in the dark, and he realizes there's lights moving around the garden of doctor Regi's house, so he thinks thieves, So bravely he grabs his flashlight and his Smith and Wesson thirty eight special revolver and he goes over to confront the thieves. So he quietly sneaks up to the source of the lights and as he approaches, something touches him on his shoulder. Uh oh, somebody's got the drop on him,
so he spins around. Yeah, not a typical thief. He's absolutely stunned because there is more than one ten foot tall green, wrinkled skin skin that was not only wrinkled, but undulating creatures with pointy things sticking out of the side of their face, triangular yellow eyes, red veins in his head and their heads, and a metallic mouthpiece almost like a breathing apparatus. Well, he's terrified. He runs to the car and as he's running to the
car he sees a massive triangular craft rising off the ground. So nineteen seventy eight precursor to the Hudson Valley wave. You know, triangle sightings were around, but scarce. So this is a massive triangle. It's brightly lit and it's making a hissing sound and giving off waves of heat, which is interesting. At twelve fifteen, the security company in Genoa gets a call from him over the radio and radio operator Carlo Tacolino. Here's Freda screaming incoherent he's under
assault, and Tacolino's like, who who are these guys? And Zanfreda's yelling nonsno womini, nonsno womini, they are not men. Just puts a chill up my spine and with that the radio transmission goes dead. This reminds me of the Valentage case in Australia when he's flying his small plane and he's saying there's a craft and he's it's not an aircraft, he said before the that's transmission end. It's a very chilling. I think part of the whole the encounter is, you know, no, they are not men. Yeah,
yeah, definitely. So due to the bad weather. It takes a full hour, not till one fifteen am. Another patrol alive arrives, Walter Laia and Raimundo Masia. They find Zenfreda lying on the ground and as they approach him, you know, they think he's unconscious, he suddenly jumps up, totally freaked out and confused, waving his pistol and flashlight at them. Not a good sign when your coworker is out of his mind threatening you with this
gun. They talk to him calmly. They manage to grab him, disarm him, and they notice his clothes are very warm, even though this is a bitter cold night. For an hour he's been laying on the ground for as long as but his clothes are warm. So they call in the Carabinieri, that is, the national military police, and where the craft had been. According to his description, there were two nine foot diameter horseshoe shaped prints
pressed into the ground, so something large had been there. The local commandant of Tuilia, Antonio Noucci, said he knew Zenfreda for many years, vouched for his honesty, and so he did some digging. He found not one other witness, not two other witnesses, but fifty two other witnesses in the area of doctor Regi's house who either saw the craft or the bright lights.
So that's pretty good. Fifty two corroborative witnesses that something was there. So if Sanfredo was trying to create a hoax making up this story, he couldn't have duplicated a craft and these lights flying around. So he saw something so as old. Yeah, I was was going to say, if it's fabricated, you wouldn't expect that. Fifty two corroborating witnesses right to a complete hoax. At least something was happening that night. Other people saw, Yeah,
yep, something strange in the sky at the very least. So as always happens, he is hounded by the press, and he doesn't want any part of it. He said, I am not a liar. If I could have, I would not have reported my experiences. Now that I see the consequences, how unfortunately, how many times do we hear that? Well, that's weird enough for anybody in one lifetime. But twenty days later he's back
on the job. He's recuperated. December twenty sixth, foggy, heavy rain, he's driving on his you know, night watchman business through the Bargalli tunnel near the Skulfera pass. He loses all control of the car. It's not like he smashes into anything. It's driving on on its own. He radios in to headquarters again, my car is driving on its own. Suddenly the car stops and is bathed in a white hot light. That heat again again. It takes a while for another patrol car. One ten am, another
patrol car arrives. Sergeant Emmanuel Travenzoli finds Zenfretta on the ground in the cold, pouring rain. Yet his clothes are warm and dry. He's in shock, he's shaking, he's crying. The carabinieri come and they find that his car, his Fiat, is as hot as an oven, inside and out. Now, how would you fake that? In the it's been in the cold rain for hours, yet it's hot as an oven to the touch on the exter, the entire exterior and on the inside, and also around the
car. They find multiple boot prints which are twenty inches long and eight inches wide. That's a pair of boots. Yeah, I don't want to deal with them. I don't want to counter them. No, So if we are to believe Zenfretta with these ten foot tall, pointy headed aliens. He is abducted by them eleven times in the span of a couple years. Well, he undergoes hypnosis, psychiatrists question him, They find him to be traumatized but saying they even shoot him up with sodium pentathol truth serum, and his
stories never change. And again, like the first case where there were fifty two other witnesses, all of these other cases there were other witnesses seeing lights and craft, so something was going definitely going on. So you know, you really don't want to believe this because it's so outrageous, but they had the imprints of the craft, the imprints of the boots, the inexplicab explicable
heat, all the other corroborating witnesses. And unfortunately it takes a little dark turn because one of the times when Zenfreta went missing December two, nineteen seventy nine, four security guards and two cars are searching for him when suddenly a luminous craft beams two lights down on the craft, so now they're bathed in light. They stop their cars. Chief Lieutenant Casiba is terrified and starts shooting at it. Okay, because that's what you do, you shoot at these
craft. And unfortunately, security guard Hermano Zenardi was so traumatized by this, they said he lost his mind and ended up shooting himself to death. Oh as a result, he was so traumatized by this. So again you can go to YouTube. You can see the hypnosis session with zen Fretta, but it's in Italian. He is still alive. He is seventy one years old and he is still sticking to these stories. So and you know, if you can see renditions, artists drawings of what the creatures would have looked like,
and they are freaky. I mean these aren't pleasant looking at all. I mean these are just absolutely terrifying. If you had seen something that looks like this ten feet I mean, no, I don't see it. I don't want to encounter it, you know, wrinkled, spit, skin, spikes out of the head. back here. And Linda, that was a very creepy story out of Italy. You know, I've wanted to go there a lot for many years. I'm not so sure now, but we'll have to see. Maybe I'll get over it. But well, if you're going to Genoa, it's just a short drive to Trelia. Well that's that's on my list actually, So yeah, I may have to make the drive. I'm brave, Oh absolutely all right, but keep you keep your firearm with you. I don't think they'll
let me bring that with me now, probably not. Probably not all right. So we are going to Pascagoula, Mississippi, on October eleventh, nineteen seventy three. This might be one of the most famous cases, so probably a lot of people have heard of it. But I'm wanted to talk about this because they creatures are eerily similar to those in the Zenfreda case. So it's after work one evening and forty two year old Charlie Hickson and his friend
nineteen year old Calvin Parker just fishing on the Pascagoula River. You know, they're not looking for trouble, just unwinding after work. They hear this strange zipping, whirring sound, see flashing blue lights, and there is a forty foot oval craft about n eight to ten feet high. Now, there were several other witnesses to this craft, so it's not just them gliding out of
the craft. Are three creatures who are coming toward them. They have legs, but they're not using it because they're floating two feet above the ground. Kind of sounds like the Peru case. Right. They are described as being about six foot tall, kind of robotic looking, with gray, heavily wrinkled skin like an elephant like the Zanfreta case, only those. I think it was kind of greenish skin, but heavily wrinkled. They had either crab or
lobster like pincer hands, very unusual. And guess what they had spike like objects coming out of their head, all right, wrinkled skin spikes out of the head. One is Italy in nineteen seventy eight and the other is in
Pascagoula, Mississippi, nineteen seventy three, so rather interesting. And they had slits from mouths, so they were conscious but were like paralyzed brought into brought on board this craft scanned with what was described as kind of a football shaped crystal structure like almost like an eye, scanning them after their medical exams they are floated back to the river bank and the craft takes off. Well, obviously they are shaken, terrified. Calvin doesn't want to report it, but
then they realize they have to report it. Maybe other people saw it, but maybe it's gonna take other people. So they go to the sheriff station and the sheriff is listening. But I mean, how would you react if someone came in the police station and right, what have you been drinking? Especially in nineteen seventy, you know, three different era. Yeah, yeah,
So the sheriff gets a very clever idea. There is a tape recorder hidden under the table in the interview room, and Charlie and Calvin don't know that, so he leaves them alone, and they figure, great, they're gonna let him talk. Let them hang themselves with this, and when they play the tape back, they're going to hear them laughing and joking about their funny hoax. Exactly the opposite. These two men are totally freaked out.
What just happened? What are we gonna do? What? Nobody's gonna believe? You know, they are traumatized, they something us happened to them. So then they're starting to take it a little more seriously corroborating. Another piece of corroborating evidence, a couple saw the same craft. I think it was
the other side of the river. They were in a parking lot of a restaurant and for just a glimpse, a woman looked down and saw some sort of bizarre creature in the river who matched the description of what Calvin and Charlie saw. Okay, so if there was delusions going around in Pasca Goola that night, it was mass delusions. We could talk all day about this, but what I recommend is going to either the books or there's a lot of
podcasts. I recommend Martin Willis's podcast UFO where he had Calvin Parker on his show giving all the details. Definitely look that up. Calvin was just a real down to earth Southern gentleman guy, very believable. Unfortunately he just died at age eighty one just a short time ago. And Jay Allen Heinez said, there is no question in my mind that these men had a very real,
frightening experience. So worth looking into this case further. But like I said, I know it's well known, but a lot of people don't know the Zanfreda case and I've never heard anybody tie in the two descriptions. Yeah, they're definitely very similar, you know, not exact, but very similar. Yeah. Yeah, no, not exact, but you know, tall wrinkled skin spikes coming out of the head. I don't think they were sand hill cranes as was they talked about, as we talked about in the last
episode. Not not any sandhill crane that I want to encounter, is for sure. No, So why don't we take our second break and come back to two more bizarre entities Hudson River Radio dot com. This is Hudson River Radio dot com. So we are back from the break, Linda, And so far we've been to Italy, we've been to Mississippi, and I have crossed both of those off of my list of places. If anything. You know, it's like challenge accepted, right, you know, like, alright,
let's go and do not forget the barbecue in Mississippi. Bob can attest to that. I am. I'm sulry. But where are we going next. We're going back to ma Offman territory kind of. We're going back to West Virginia for the famous infamous Flatwoods monster. Okay, I have been to Flatwoods and the quaint little Flatwood's Monster Museum. You know, it's a muster. There's not much else left in town, unfortunately, but there's a Flatwoods
Monster Museum in Braxton County. And on September twelfth, nineteen fifty two, about seven fifteen pm, there is a light described as either a light or a craft going across the sky that seems to land on the farm of g Bailey Fisher. In fact, the Sheriff's department was getting reports of a downed aircraft. So nobody's yelling alien at this point, not yet, but that
there's some some sort of object has gone down down. So brothers Ed and Fred May, their friend Tommy Higher see this craft go down, so they run to get Edin, Fred's mother, Kathleen May, seventeen year old Eugene Lemon, who was a member of the National Guard, Neil Nunley, and Ronnie Shaver. So they want to see what's going on, so they go to the farm. They go to the top of the hill. They see a pulsating red light. Then they see a ten foot tall creature with claw
like hands. Where we heard that again the Pasca goula case. Yes, it has orange greenish eyes. It has what they describe as like a pleated skirt, which is very interesting. Long pleated green, metallic skirt almost looks like a robot. There is what was described as a pungent mist. Some reports they later fainted from it, but they were all nauseated. It burned their nostrils and some of them vomited for hours afterwards. That's a really really
bizarre detail. You don't often hear a lot of these encounters talk about smells and odors that make them sick. Yeah, this is very unique in that respect, Yes, definitely. So the National Guard guy Eugene Lemon, shines his flashlight on it, and when he does, this creature starts gliding, bounding, gliding and bounding again. None of these things seem to walk right toward them. He screams, drops his flashlight, falls backward, jumps up again, and they all run, which was probably wise. So they go
back home. They're telling everyone, and thirty minutes later, a local newspaper publisher a Lee Stewart, gets a couple of men with shotguns and of course because you have to shoot at these things, and has Lemon guide them back to where they saw this creature. And it was gone. The craft was gone, but the sickening odor was still there. And they also noted heat waves in the air. I guess, you know, like when heat's rising up and you see that ripple. So there was excessive heat and there was
still this seconding, sickening odor. So let's bring in the skeptics eye view of all this. Skeptics like Joe Nickel, okay, point for point, The light going across the sky was meteor, okay, disregarding that many people saw it land and no meteor was ever found. Pulsating red light was navigation lights on a plane. The ten foot creature was an owl, and the
nausea was fear induced. Oh. I forgot to mention that this creature's head was shaped like an upside down ace of spades or the ace of spades with its point up, So I add that. So yes, So the ten foot creature with the uh ace of spades head was an owl. Oh I you know I no, yes, thank you, I mean owl? Yeah, And you know I mean Joe Nichol, that was I mean, he was a skeptic that sought to debunk everything, and he often did what he
accused. You know, the believers of doing it as making broad conclusions without a lot of evidence. I find interesting. What what these are? Baby owls? Oh? Okay, Brian is holding up a picture of baby owls, and they do look like gray aliens. I will give you that very little, right, Yeah, baby owls are those are amazing? All right, Sorety, look up baby owls. They are freaky looking, but they were seeing something ten feet tall, and unless owls release a pungent mist that
burns your nostrils and makes you vomit. I don't know, miss is. Also don't forget the next day when they found in the field there an odd gummy deposit. Yeah, yeah, wow, somebody said that was so yeah. I don't want to know. Missus may always maintained it looked worse than Frankenstein. They never changed their stories. These people lived, They knew what owls look like. We have a lot of owls. They're all over the
place. I have yet to mistake one for a ten foot humanoid. I mean, you know it's not somebody coming from some foreign land and season owl for the first time and freaks out. Granted, the baby owls, you could mistake them for aliens, but very small aliens. Yes. Yeah, so all the people witnessing something going across the sky, something landing or crashing. Something happened and I don't think it was a meteor and an owl. No, no, all right, so we have another owl story, our
Final Lives. They're very popular media. Yes they are meteor owls. Yes. When this is another well known case, Kelly Hopkinsville incident, but I thought it dovetailed nicely with the meteor owl story. This is in Christian County, Kentucky and a town named Kelly. At the Lankford Farmhouse on August twenty first, nineteen fifty five, older woman Glennie Lankford is there with her kids Elmer, Lucky Sutton, John Charlie Sutton, their wives manned by the name
of Billy Ray Taylor. All together eight adults and three children. There were eleven people. I've seen the ratio of adults to children differently, but eleven people, most of whom were adults. Well, Billy Ray sees a bright lighted craft streak across the sky and disappear behind a tree line some distance from the house. It had an exhaust, all the colors of the rainbow and kind of looked like a flying saucer. So he runs and tell he's by
the well. He runs and tells everybody. They're all laughing. Oh it's another one of Billy Ray's stories. So a couple of the guys go out toward the well. All the dogs start barking, animal reaction, and then three and a half foot tall creature looking like a silver gremlin. You remember the Gremlin movies. Yeah, they weren't out yet. In fifty five,
big ears, big eyes, silvery looking start coming towards them. They run inside, actually barricade the house, and these things are trying to get through the doors and windows. So what do you do when someone's attacking your house in Kentucky? You start shooting. So with twelve gage shotguns and twenty two rifles, they are shooting through the windows, shoot the screens as these things are trying. They are shooting up a storm. This one sided attack.
Gunfire goes on for three to four hours. Okay, they are expending some serious ammunition here. They must have been stockpiled. I had that much. You are in a small town in Kentucky. You are armed and ready. So these creatures, like we hear all they floated around. They had very spindly legs, human hands. At one point they're trying to escape. They try to go outside. One was waiting above the door on the roof and is trying to claw at them. N So they probably go back in and
continue shooting. Finally, when it's after all these hours, when it seemed clear, they all ailed in the car and drove to the Hopkinsville police station. They are clearly terrified, traumatized. They're telling this story. These little creatures are attacking their house. We were shooting at them, so they don't know what they're going to find. You know, these crazed people come in
talk about unloading their weapons repeatedly. So four police officers, five state troopers, three deputy sheriffs, and four military police from Fort Campbell go to the house. They find nothing but bullet holes, no signs of the creature or a craft. But there was also no indications that anybody had been drinking.
The official skeptic explanation. The light that was seen was a meteor and the creatures were owls, very angry, great horned owls to be exact, because they're known to be pissed and attack houses even though they're getting shot at and I think they were shooting at these things and the bullets were having no effect because owls. Yeah yeah, owls are known to repel bullets. It's a horde of horned owls. Yes, like yeah, I wouldn't you think after
shooting so much too, wouldn't that scare them away? Whether you're hitting the hitting them or not. At what point do the birds then stop coming around? Yeah? Yeah, they take a few pellets, you think they might might go away. So just like flat woods, it's let's chalco it up to meters and owls. Yeah, because people living out in the woods confuse
owls with aliens all the time. Well maybe the baby ones, Brian, But I mean really, and you know, again, like you said, why would owls be attacking their house for you know, if somebody goes near an owl's nest, they feel threatened, they will come after a human. But a four hour prolonged attack by numerous silver owls who repel bullets. No, No, it's too simplistic of an explanation. Yeah. Yeah, so there we have it, those damned owls. H But yeah, bizarre,
bizarre. I mean we could probably do parts three, four, five, six, seven, and eight and still have material left over, but that that Peruvian case we spoke about in the first episode. If you didn't listen, go back and listen, just inspired me to like, well, you know, it's not all just these little gray aliens with big heads. There's
some weird stuff out there. Yeah, there definitely is.
