Episode description

The KEMPER PROFILER™ is a leading-edge digital guitar amplifier and all-in-one effects processor. As a guy who has used many “modeling type” amplifiers, this was the first digital guitar amp to really nail the full and dynamic sound of what we call “guitar tone”. For me, it gave me that “amp in the room” or “amp on the recording” sound.

Now part of what makes the Kemper special is the ability to profile. Profiling allows you to characteristically harness an amplifier's tone (or an amplifier stacked with some pedals tone) and place it into a computer that can be further tweaked to give you the best possible sounds at your fingertips in the studio, bedroom, or live.

Of course in the features, there are the faults. But is the Kemper worth having? Are there any tricks to getting a better tone? Which version of the KPA is the best? Are there better options out there? Do professionals use Kemper? Does volume matter? And is there a cure for tone paralysis?

Well we will discuss this, and more on this group therapy session with Barber, on the tweed couch.
