CLARIFYING THE ISSUES There are two kinds of teachings regarding Moshiach: 1. Some sources, most notably the Rambam’s Mishneh Torah, discuss the legal requirements for appointing Moshiach. These laws and teachings relate primarily to the Sanhedrin (Jewish Supreme Court). 2. Many other sources provide insights. These sources discuss both the literal and the deeper metaphoric process of Moshiach. They give us vital insights into the nature of Moshiach and the process of Redemption. Understanding the differences between these sources will help us to avoid confusing them. We will discuss one example tomorrow. See Igros Kodesh, vol. 2, pg. 233
