On May 21st, 1927, Charles Lindbergh became a household name when he became the first person to ever fly solo over the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, his instant popularity made him a target for one of the most notorious kidnapping cases the world has ever known. On March 1st, 1932, Charles Lindbergh Jr was settled into his bed in for the night, when someone used a ladder to climb to the 2nd story window and take the child from his family. The kidnapper left behind a note containing details of a ransom that would need to be paid in order for the child’s safe return to his family. Two agonizing months after Charles Jr. vanished, his dead body was found within miles of his home.
