CPTSD Special - Doing a 4 Step Process With a Part (Episode 1)
Episode description
Instead of doing an ADHD episode today I am going to perform to my audience in real time a 4 Step Process with a Part. this will be four 30 minute episodes over 2 weeks where I will go through all 4 steps (hopefully) with you the audience as I do some healing from trauma
the 4 steps are:
1. Listening to your Part - identify your part, learn why they came to be and why they are protecting you. When were they born? what is the part's name? Gender? Show this part Kindness and compassion and love. give them what they never received back then, show them that you are ok now!
2. Feel the Part's Emotions - sit with your part (unblended) and feel the emotions that this part felt when it was trying to protect you, allow yourself to feel what he or she felt back then. Experience the raw feelings so you can understand and empathize with this part later on.
3. Acknowledge and Appreciation - You need to thank your part, acknowledge that what it was doing for you was good! that he/she was trying to protect you from what it saw and believed was dangerous for you when you were that child! Show this part that you are thankful that they were created so that you could survive and be here today. Show this part that you have loved and appreciated him/her all the time and that he/she's an incredible and beautiful part.
4. Update your Part - after all 3 steps and if you know that your part trusts you and sees that you are now capable of taking care of yourself you can update this part! show them the present! Tell them what day/year it is, who you are, how old you are now. Show them that they have done the best job they could have ever possibly done for you and that they were amazing and brave and deserve so much better! Tell them that you are safe now, show them that they no longer need to protect you when trouble arises and you feel a trigger. Thank them for what they have done and show them love and care.
This Episode focuses primarily on Step one and Step two, although I will likely quickly revisit Step two before moving forward. each episode will be roughly 30 mins long.
