Episode description

Eartha discussed the GAS model in an article in Medical News Today, “What to know about general adaptation syndrome,” by Timothy J. Legg, Ph.D., PsD-By Lane Burgess, on November 28, 2017. General adaption syndrome(GAS)outlines three stages of how stress affects the body: alarm reaction, resistance level, and exhaustion. Eartha emphasized the importance of being mindful of how the body responds to different types of stimulation and encouraged listeners to participate in mindfulness practices to help the body recover from stress and recharge. She also highlighted the adverse effects of chronic stress. She suggested incorporating mindfulness activities (mindful walks, learning something new, and paying attention to what we eat and drink) to recharge our bodies. Eartha invites you to practice mindfulness daily to prevent exhaustion and promote self-care. Try to prioritize taking a mindful, peaceful sleep without devices for proper rest and recovery.
