Episode description

I welcome my special guest, Mr. Nick Hendrix, a cybersecurity engineer, during this podcast. One of the goals of practicing mindfulness is to focus our awareness on our lives, our bodies, and our environment to strengthen calmness as a response to challenges and stress. We can discover barriers that block optimum reactions to our thoughts and communication. As a Cyber Security Engineer of the Cloud, Nick shares the benefits of secure communication tools and styles in the virtual and physical worlds. We begin our episode with basic communication skills regarding how positive and negative communication shapes our thinking. We talk about generational influences that shape normative structures in families and communities. Communication starts in the mind with our thoughts. When substances such as drugs or alcohol abuse are used, they cloud messages or thought processes and distorted thinking as a reaction to stress. Despite personal challenges, Nick shares his heart-touching stories of hardships and how he overcame those hardships by not giving up and learning from previous experiences. This is the first of a two-part episode. We explore the research that indicates that cursing is a healthy indicator of expressing trust.
