Stephen is the first martyr as Paul watches and approves only to find himself (Paul) in chains for the gospel later. Paul makes the statement that he is both happy the gospel is being preached and that to live or die is gain. A relationship with Jesus that results in an unfettered life of testifying about Christ is what we hope everyone strives for.
