Episode description

Dax Riggs is a singer songwriter and guitarist based in Lafayette, Louisiana. He has spent much of his career in the worlds of metal, punk-blues, and psych rock, starting with the heavy sludge band Acid Bath as a teenager then moving through country-punk, folk and gospel along his journey. His newest record in 12+ years, 7 Songs For Spiders (out now via Fat Possum) is a honed and realized expression of death, life and the door in between. Dax tells us why he left the scene for such a long time, what he learned and how he fell in gospel singing along the way. He shares his writing process, how he examines and re-examines his tunes and why goosebumps are his main barometer. We learn why Dax picked up a guitar in the first place, Joe and Dax share some early band experiences and we hear a few tunes.
