How you doing out there. It's me Tigger a dark wing duck. It's me Bunkers keep bobcat. All right, y'all, did it great? Your favorite firefly you desire? Hold the old knock guy. My name is Jim Cummings and welcome to tuned In. All right, welcome back, everybody. We're here tuned In with Jim Cummings. Today we have Erica Harlckerstone. Thank you for joining us. Thank you for having me. You know her from Persona. You know, we're from Seven Deadly Sins and much much more.
Yeah, thank you. Yeah. I couldn't believe your banner today was highly populated. Thank you. I put a lot of characters on there, just so people would walk by and go, hey, wait, I don't know the name of that project, but I remember that character. That's right. Yeah it worked. Yes, it's very cool to be here with you. You know, thank you for taking time out and hanging out with us.
I've been listening to you since I can remember so well. It's because I'm very old, you know, it's because you're very talented and you're in everything. I was just gonna say that, yeah, beat you to it. Yeah, sorry, I got you yeah, and uh we're kind of neighbors. Yeah, we're both Adventure a count of California. Yep, yep, yeah. I uh. I was born in Camerio and it was nice back then. It was like not a ton of people were there. I feel like it really filled out. All the orange groves are gone. Yeah,
you're right about that. Yeah, because when they opened Soaring over California at California Adventure, it used to have Camerio and it was just the orange groves and you could smell It's like my favorite party. You can still smell the oranges when you go on that ride, even though they aren't there anymore on the ride or in real life. And it's not Soaring over California anymore. No, I know, it's soaring around the world. Whatever. We have
to give everyone else a little bit of airtime, I guess. Yeah. Every time that guy hit the golf ball at the screen, I would always flinch. Oh I got me too, Yeah, memories true. God, this is amazing. I mean we've never worked together, but I feel like we have because you're at so many cons that I've I've been to and now we're here and so now we are working to each other. Yeah, thank you, thank you for being you. No, it's a it's a real honor. I you know, I I've loved Winny of the Pooh since I
was a kid. And you know, Dark Wing Duck amazing. You're just I love the passion and the everything that you put into the characters. It's a big inspiration. So thank you. Yeah, I've loved the since you were a kid too, So this is we're going to get along fine here. That's very sweet. Thank you very much. Yeah, thanks again for being here. Of course. Do you do a lot of these conventions. Yeah, within the last few years, I started doing a lot more of
them. I did some before the pandemic, but they used to really stress me out because I would just kind of, you know, go by myself. I didn't really have a company helping me navigate everything. And uh, I just you know, I got into this because I like to act,
so I'm I don't really want to do all the business stuff. And I'm also really bad at like being the bad guy if something goes wrong and things do and things do you know, as nice as everybody always is, sometimes things happen, and yeah, it's just it's been so much nicer since I got with a company and now go to a ton of them. So that's good. Yeah, so what's next? Where's next? I Am going to be in Salt Lake City in a couple of weeks. I've heard, really,
I've heard of that mystical land of Utah. Yes, Salt Lake City. Have you seen Mormon? Of course? I saw it twice. I saw with the original Broadway cast in la isn't ah? Shoot the actors name no, no, no, black Eye who played the original but general Butt. Yes, yes, the whole original is going to be in Salt Like I'm pretty sure. Oh my god, I have to tell him. He was so good in the original cast. Yeah, it was. It was
amazing, and it's like one of my favorite musicals. Yeah. I always say that's the hardest I've ever laughed with any medium in that span of time. Right, every time it's in town. Yeah, saw it in London in New York. I haven't seen it. You have, you have to see it. It's so good. Oh wow, yeah, sounds about right. I will, I'll do it. Yeah, there's fireworks happening very oh perfect. I was thinking, it's like should we be ducking? I know
it was like you cover, we should hide or it's a celebration. Yeah, obviously, yeah, obviously for the podcast is it's that time. That's when I ordered him. So that glad you did very very yeah. Well, speaking of theater, were you were you a theater person in high school? And yeah, So I did speech and debate. I did oh really cool debate. Were your categories? Well, I started off, I did something original, oration boring, I did one, and then you know,
I'm glad you asked that. I'm glad you I made you ask you that, because then I switched over to humorous interpretation and I just would do like I did guys and Dolls and something called green Pastures, which would be completely politically incorrect now because everybody in it was black, and yeah they were in white face. And no. Well, in speech, you have to play all the characters. Yeah, you have to play all the characters. So
I played. I did it just like this movie that was on long, old, ancient movie, probably the forties, and it was a retelling of the Old Testament through an old black church preacher and everything, and so it was filtered through that, you know, and the guy was probably from Georgia somewhere, like that. Yeah, and I did it all and I made it all the way to the state finals. Nice. I was, Yeah, I was. I was like gonna be it, you know, I thought, because I was so stupidly cocky, I did. I did one
speech for this. There were three rounds, one speech for this round, guys and dolls for the next round, and then green pastors for the third round. And they compared them and they go, well, wait, but I got ones. I mean it was it was like golf. There were three judges and if they they said, well, he was the best, so he's number one, and sounds like I'm bragging. I'm really not ad
It's kind of a stupid story. But uh so I got a nine, which is the best you can get because three good judges gave you one. H And then they somebody discovered that I was switching, switching around doing different speeches. We can't we can't have that. And I was thinking, well, doesn't doesn't that make it a little harder? Yeah, I mean I would ones. Yeah, it is more impressive. But when you said that, I was like, well, you can do that. You can do
a different thing. Yeah, apparently not you can, but they'll you can but you can't win hands, you're smack your little hands. You can do it just just because you want to, just because you can. Yeah, kind of like white dogs anyway. Yeah, because they can. I feel like most people when I say speech and debate, they're like, what is that? Yeah? Yeah I did. I did h I humor and I did dramatic d I And then I left duo too because I got to work
with a partner. Oh that's cool. Yeah. Plus you have to memorize less, Yes, exactly. There was one. There was one category which was only in our county as far as I know, and it was called thematic. And the reason that I liked it was because it was the only category that you were allowed to have a binder up there with you, so you could have the lite written down. Yeah, I couldn't read it the whole time, but you were allowed to glance at it every now and then.
Okay, so you anytime you're allowed to take a test with a cheat sheet exactly. Yeah, that's why I went on a voiceover. I don't memorize anything, boy, you are singing, said that. Yeah. Yeah. When I was a theater major in college, I was like, man if I just didn't have to memorize all this stuff. It so nice. You know. I'm I'm known for terribly uh living oh yeah all the time, you know, and every single thing I do. And and the only
reason that I'm good at it is because I can't memorize anything. It's like, for the worst reason in the world. But but it accidentally kind of trained that little muscle inside of me to well, what was I supposed to say? Make something up? Okay? And then then yeah, they're they're off to the races. Yeah. That's why I love improv so much, because I just feel like you just you just go with your instincts. And it was so fun. I was in the Second City Conservatory before the pandemic
hit and then you know, everything kind of stopped. So I haven't been back since, but miss it. Oh yeah. And where where were you based in in? Like Hollywood? Was that? Yeah city? Second City? Hollywood? Yeah? Yeah, okay, and it was it was so fun. That's pretty darn cool, real close to the end. But are you leaning back into it now or yeah? Well they did they sifted to online. Doing improv over zoom is the worst thing, thank you, I
have ever experienced, especially improv zoom. Yeah, so like you know how zoom it'll like it'll focus on the person talking, so then it will kind of cut off anyone else who wasn't just speaking, and there's like lag issues. And when we first shifted over to zoom, I was like, okay, well, should all of our scenes be like we're talking, we're on like a webcast or something. And they were like, no, pretend you're in the same room. I was like, this is so hard. Yeah,
yeah, yeah. My daughter Raley was doing it a place, she's an actress, and as soon as they were ready to open, they said, oh, you can't what no, no, no, no, you have to have to be remote. You have to be sitting at home in your bedroom, you're you know, with a with a camera on you.
And then and it was like the beginning of the Brady Bunch, Yeah, with all the Brady's on the screen and they're all sitting there, and you know, it'd be somebody would and it was just awful because somebody would have to be handing somebody a drink and they go, well, here, George, and you know, and and somebody would be just like their friend would be over here and they'd hand the drink here. I almost poured that on myself. I can't believe you didn't spill that. That was incredible. That
was like a magic trick. I just realized you took the goddamn tap off. But anyway, and then you know, they'd hand it over here and it would come in down there, and it just it was so realistic. Yeah, but she was great. Probably you know you were great impressive blocking. I mean yeah, yeah, I uh yeah, I did like one one semester on zoom and man, the fireworks are Yeah, by the way, we're under oh my gosh. Yeah, I don't know where we are
that there's fireworks happening right now. But for everybody listening, we're not under attack. I swear we're pretty far. I was thinking we are under attack, but we're forging ahead. Yes, So I hope you understand the gland that we are expressing here for you guys, all of you, just for y'all, for podcast must go. Yeah. Yes, oh my god. Have you seen Peter Pan goes wrong? I have not. It's so good. I'm sorry. I go to a lot of theater. That sounds nice.
It's so good. I think it's playing. It might have it might have just ended this weekend, but if it's not, you should really go see it. It's in La right now, and I think your Pan goes Wrong. You can't beat that title. Oh my god, it's so funny. It's Have you seen the play that Goes Wrong? I don't. I was in it, actually have Yeah, we're in No, I mean we're
just a lot of wrong. Yeah. Well, that's the basis of the play That Goes Wrong is that it's they're put on a regular play, but then set pieces start falling, and you know, the blocking is incredible because they have to have everything go wrong in a very specific way. Oh right, right, and so Peter Pan goes Wrong as the same company, it's just it was even better. It was so funny. Highly recommend it. It was at the Amendsene. I think in La. It's touring right now,
so if people look at their tour tour dates. But it's so good. Assuming we're I think we're allowed to go back to the theaters now. Yeah, yeah, it's definitely allowed. I've been. I saw Into the Woods recently and I saw, oh, Peter Pan goes wrong. Yeah, yeah, everything went wrong? Yeah, everything went right? And you made it. Yes, yes, I had to. You know, I couldn't go to theater for so many years because of the pandemic. So yeah,
trying to see as much as I can again. I also saw Beetlejuice recently. Oh my god, so good. Oh yeah, uh yeah. I literally had tickets for the Book of Mormon like two months before the pandemic. It was in LA and I was like, everybody, we should all go as a family. Yeah, and then the pandemic really threw things. I know, Oh my gosh. Yeah, but now we can see we can watch it again back in action. I'm so excited. So I just has to come back to l late. Yes, I know, yeah, I
mean I think it's going to I'm sure. Yeah, we'll be there when it gets there. Good good, yeah, more or less. Yeah, Peter Pan goes wrong, super good. Yeah. So I heard that you can't even go to Japan because you'll just be so swarmed. Is that true? Can you tell us about that. I am not swarmed in Japan. No, I am really tall. So I feel like people are like, WHOA, and I did. I went to Japan for three weeks for my
honeymoon last year. Oh yeah, congratulations, congratulations you and uh while we were there, you know, people would ask like, oh, what do you do, and so I would say I was a voice actor. Then you said whatever i'm want. Yeah yeah, well and over there like being a voice actor is like the coolest job you could have, you know. And so we're going to Japan. Yeah. Yeah. As soon as I said voice actor, everyone was like, oh my gosh, oh wow,
that's so cool, Like what were you in? And I was like, well, I mean, I'm in the English version of They didn't they didn't care. They were like, you're in a Hunter Hunter. Oh my gosh, you're in seven Deadly Sin's Demon Slayer. And it was really cool.
It was that's na. It was nice. Yeah, it was. It was good to be a rock star right and every now and yeah, and I like, you know, I like, I like people not really knowing who I am until I say something about it because then I don't I don't want me I don't want people to come talk to me all the time. So yeah, it was nice. Yeah, yeah, no, I agree. It's like it's a weird thing because uh, you know, you don't
you don't want to feel like you're obligated to be on exactly all. Yes, you know, yeah, you know, hey, can we just call my eight nieces and nephews. Yeah, I don't know, maybe not right now. Yeah. Yeah. I've had instances where I like, go to the grocery store and then there's a persona fan at the checkout, and I'm like, I'm so happy to meet them, but also I'm like, oh my god, I was not prepared to meet fan right now. I need to start dressing better when I go to the grocery store and uh yeah,
yeah. So I get a little anxious now that people have started, I think because I started doing YouTube stuff more so people know what I look like more now, so it happens a little more often. What do you do on YouTube? I play a lot of the games that I'm in, oh way, yeah, and I mean mostly I do that. I also play. I do a monthly among us game with the cast of a game that I'm in. Cool and so you know, whoever's available? Are you on
Twitch? I was on Twitch, but I like YouTube better because I would always forget to download my streams from Twitch and then they disappear after a couple months. And so there are some streams that I did of Persona in particular, that are just lost forever. I know on YouTube it keeps them forever. I'm sure somebody recorded it. Somebody. Yeah, I got like clips of it, but yeah, I mean probably if I asked, I could have Okay, well, okay, everybody, you've got your work cut out
for you. Yes, right, my whole one hundred hours of Persona that I played. Please, Yeah, somebody ask yeah, come on, come on, give it me, give me it, give us a break already. Yeah. I like it. It's it's fun. I put up some of my Uh. I did a couple of music videos that I put on YouTube. Right, do you make music? I do? Yeah, I have two singles out so far. And then I also did a cover that got really popular in the Gension Impact fandom because nice it was. It was
really cool. The company that does the game aim I asked them. I was like, hey, I really think this song fits my character really well. Can I do an in character version? And usually they'd be like, you know, every company would be like no, but they're super cool about it. And they were like, yeah, sure, that's that's great. So I made a music video and wow, yeah, it's really cool.
Where can everybody see it and love it, so it's on Well, you can listen to it on Spotify. I have three songs up there, and then you can watch the music video on YouTube. But my channel is with the K Games because everyone spells my name E R I C A, so my brand is now with a K everything. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's cool. I always laugh extra hard in the comments when people will write Erica with the scene and I'm like, hello, it's in the name, you guys. Yeah, alas, Yeah, it's fun. And I just
finished writing a novel. I have like too many things going on. Well ones, Jesus, my focus is unfocused. So and then you're going to open the show tomorrow with some juggling I understand. H recycle also at the same time while I'm playing the accordion. So so we got that going for us. Yeah, yeah, we'll be looking forward to that. Yeah, ye show. Yeah it's fun. Yeah. I just like being creative. Yeah yeah. Jim has a musical background as well. Yeah yeah he do.
Yeah, so cool. I was always I was always the singing drummer. Nice and then finally I auditioned for this band that already had a drummer, and I go, can I sing, and so then they let me sing. Oh that's and then all I had to carry was a tambourine and a cow bell. Oh hey, those are fun, you know, as much as I love the drums, tambourine cow bell much lighter. Yeah,
those are are very less work. Loop them onto your boat. Accidentally took mine off, you know, because I was going to impress you with my darn it next time, the luck next time I'm both at once cow bell and yeah yeah, plus singing, Yeah, well there you go, and tap dancing, which is hard in OC extra impressive. Then yeah, I don't be too impressed yet. So did you do musical theater? Uh?
Yeah, I did. I guess I was the I lived right next door to my high school in Youngstown, right, and I was always in plays as a little kid, and whenever they would need like, I was the I was the little kid in the King and I and a few other shows like that. What else was there, guys and dolls? But I was always literally in the neighborhood, so they will get that little ship over there,
that little weasel, you know. And because my older brothers and my older brother and sisters went there, so they kind of knew me, so I got drafted into being a musical theater. We're giving you the skills for your future career, so we should thank all of them. Oh I do. Yeah, and it was it was great, you know, yeah, it was really really a great way. And then that started me singing, yeah you so. And you also did an abridged version of The Phantom of
the Opera? Correct, Yes, I did with Tara Strong Terror Strong Strong. That's so cool. I love abridged versions of things. They're also what you see. Okay, anyway, I think I accidentally sang her part. I think that's the first time you sung on the podcast. It sounded great. Can we get some more? Well, the Fan of the Opera road is due inside your mind. I am geeking out. The Phantom of the Opera is my favorite player, how about that? Yeah? Yeah, that's
cool. It was the best music in the world. Yeah. I saw it on Broadway when I was in high school and it was so cool. Oh yeah, it was so cool. Yeah, I saw it on We saw it in London. Yeah, I saw it in London and uh and Broadway and uh at the Pantagious I think in l A. Oh yeah, who's your favorite fantom. You know, I don't know. I can't. I couldn't name a phantom. Okay, to be quite well, it wasn't Gerard Butler. Yes, he was in the movie. In the movie,
yeah, the movie. Okay, in the movie. All right, yeah, But I don't think he's my favorite phantom. I wouldn't say that.
But Robert was amazing. And i'll tell you who's. Michael Crawford was the first and I saw and he was the acting, you know, the big, big Broadway guy, and I came up, came because I saw it like three, three or four times, and after his performance, which I ended up saying twice, and I was walking away going, that is the most amazing performance of an actor, an incredible singer, an incredible actor, credible, oh my god, choreography, this, this, that and the
other thing. And I thought that was it. And then there was another guy, Norman Somebody, and he was another study, pretty dog gone, exceptionally good. And then when I saw Robert Gillome, my reaction was, oh my god, that poor bastard that because I mean, he really was a tragic figure. But but with Michael Crawford, you didn't he didn't feel the tragedy, you just felt the right right right or I great? And with Robert Gillum, you're going, you know what, if you think about
it, this guy's screwed. His face is jacked up, everything is about it. And he was so vulnerable and so you know, and and and he made you feel, he made you feel. This is why I love seeing plays more than once with different casts. I feel like everyone, if they're doing it right, brings something new to the character. And it's just so cool. Even if you know, I'm like I didn't like them as much as the other person, it's still, I don't know, it's such
a such a cool, cool experience. Yeah, yeah, yeah, God, I've always said they should do that with movies, like they remake movies, but use the exact same script and then let's see how it'll go differently with direction and acting. I mean, that's what plays are. You know, they don't change the script. Yeah, you know, why don't Why don't we do that with cinema. It's good question, especially if it's already such a good script. Yeah, you don't need to rewrite the whole thing,
right, have a new cast. Yeah. My favorite movie is The Matrix and the Watshowsky sisters shot so much footage for that movie that they literally could just re edit and have a completely different movie off the Frail, And I know I kind of thought that's what they were going to do with that Matrix for I don't recognize that movie. But there's a fourth one. Yeah, there is not. Well, there's not a glitch in our matrix. Yeah, okay, we cleared that up. Yeah. Yeah, sorry.
I could talk about theater forever, but I won't. That's not what we're here. Cool, that's cool. It is we're here to happen. I guess that is how I ended up here. But that's right, that's that's the that's how you got here. Yeah. In my high school from seventh to twelfth grade, every spring semester was just Shakespeare for our English courses. So that wasn't very ambitious at all. Then. Yeah, so you went the easy way exactly. Yeah. So I started off with the easy stuff
and then wound up an anime. You know, I don't know, I don't know what happened there. Yeah, but yeah, so that end of the at the end of the year, each grade would do an abridged version of each of the whichever play the grade was working on, and so I've always just I love abridged versions of things, and I just I think that was so cool. I feel like more high schools should do that. It's pretty cool. I feel like if you can read and understand Shakespeare, you're
pretty good on most other things. That's true. That's true. Definitely, definitely you suffer them slings and arrows. Damn it. Right, Oh my gosh, it's been a while. I need to go see another Shakespeare play at some point. Yeah, yeah, well I think we're allowed to go back outside now. Yeah. I'm seeing all. I'm seeing everything, everything I come across, every every play. Yeah. We were just talking about stand up comedy at dinner. Are you comic fan? I saw? What
did I see? I saw John Mulaney recently his like comeback tour, and I had been I'd seen him before before everything went down, and then I was like, what is this going to be? Like a whole new feel? What's going on? Oh? Okay? And it was. He was still very funny, so you know, I still still had a good time. Yeah, And yeah, I don't go to a lot of live stand up comedy, but I like watching them on YouTube. But you go all the time. I got to start joining. I try and go once a
week. Who do you Who do you like? The last person I saw was Jeremy Piven and Trevor Wallace from social media. Yeah, and they were hilarious. Yeah, oh man, they would never have thought Jeremy Piven was Yeah, because I know him best from uh Entourage. Yeah, he was killing it and wow. Yeah and I didn't even know. I had to google him after and he's almost sixty and he looks great. Woa god, he must die his beard. Yeah, I think that I do too,
but I die a gray or is it white? Distinguished? Full blown, full blown white silber fox. Yeah, there you go. I really want to see Jeff Dunham at the point. And then there's another like Australian puppet stand up guy who I forget his name. Yeah, but he's also really good. I can't think of him. Yeah, we're going to have Bert Kreischer. You know Bert Kreischer. He always performs shirtless, has that big bell. I don't know that I've ever seen him. He just had a
new movie come out. Oh yeah, what was the name of that? The Machine? Yes, the Machine Cool. Yeah, he's gonna so nice. It was ridiculous. Yeah, check it out. Awesome, Yeah, I'll check it out. Yeah, we promised him we'd promoted because he's struggling. Perfect. Yes, that's what we're doing. So we're here. I feel like here we give to the chaps. I feel like my TikTok algorithm has just fluctuated between stand up comedy and just animals looking so depends on the
week, and that's what I see. Yeah. Yeah, you know, baby kittens hanging on to ropes. Oh my god, kittens with yarns. That's my favorite tech talk page. Yeah. Yeah, I've been getting a lot of Zay Frank videos, you know Frank, Oh my gosh with his crazy Dave is crazy Dave here? Yeah, I love those videos. Every time they come up, I start smiling and my husband goes, is that the animal guy? He's talking about giraffes, but he calls them goof offices. It's so funny, so simple. Love. Yeah, so we do
this, we do this fun little thing on the podcast. Who would you say is your most popular character? I think maybe right now it's Venti in Kensian Impact Okay, which came out in twenty twenty, which I think is why it got so popular because it was Yeah, everybody's stuck at home exactly, so everyone was like, what's this new games we'll busted out. Yeah, so a lot of like teenagers love benschen Packed and I play it on Yeah, I play it on my YouTube. But it's very fun. It's
like, actually a very fun game. It's also free to play, so it's very accessible. So I think that's also why it's Yeah, you can, like, you know, pay money if you want extra stuff in the game. That's how they make the most money these days. Huh, exactly. Yeah, I try to on my YouTube play it without putting any money into show people like you can play the whole game without paying money, which is really cool. So yeah, i'd say he's like a drunken Bard character.
Yeah, he's very fun. Just then to the Bard. What's up Traveler? Yeah freedom you know. Yeah, we were just with Sarah Milla Cruz. Yes, oh my gosh, yeah, I love Sarah. She is on one of the series on my YouTube. I'm introducing Kingdom Hearts to her. Oh yeah, I had no idea what it was the Kingdom Hearts. Oh yeah, she did not know who Pete was and I know, I know. I Sometimes I'm like, are you an alien? How do you not know anything? Dear girl? What's the matter with your face?
Yes? And so we just yeah, right, and so we just started Kingdom Hearts too, and she was like who is this? And I was like, what this is? Pete? What are you? It's Pete. Now she's she'll text me if she sees like any videos and she's like, Pete, I know who that is? That's right. Well, you know, people think Mickey Mouse is the oldest Disney character because he is actually I think Oswald Rabbit predates it. Yes, but Pete and Mickey Mouse were both
in Steamboat Willie. Yes, we just did that level in Kingdom Hearts. Yeah, and again she was so she was like, what is going crazy over here? She was like she so, you know, we went up to Pete and he was like, somebody stole my little guy stole my boat. And she was like who could that be? And I was like have you do you not know Steamboat Willie? Like do you not know any of us? And I was like, you know, Mickey he was kind of like a trouble maker. He's always he's taking pizza staff. They kind of
switched places. Right, Yeah, I'm teaching her so much. I'll give you a hint. Wow, pow. That's that's all I that's all I've got. That's all I've got. You just do the whole all of the characters. Yeah. Yeah, well you know, speaking of that, well, since you insist on me telling you I'm blue, now, I kind of ended up being blue by default. I was talking with my buddy Rick Dempsey's had of Disney character voices, and it was a couple of weeks ago,
about a month ago. I talked about this and that and and I said what are you doing and said, what are you up to? And he says, well, I'm currently casting for Blue. And I said Blue, and I'm King Louis for Disney too. And I said, well, come on there, little bridges, we could do something for you. Let me know what I can help. Yeah, and he goes, Jesus Christ, thank you, you just cleared my afternoon. And he goes, okay, yeah, no, you're you're blue, You're blue, And I had
two lines, Wow, anyway, I'm blue. Oh ya. That's how you get roles in Hollywood by accident. Talking on with the casting director and being a goober. Just just sit down with the head of character voices. That's all you have to do. That's all you have to do. You know what I've got, I've got his number. Let me get you guys are really all slacking out there. All you guys who want to be voice
