I can't remember what town it was, but some of the reporters it went down there, local said it took me fourteen hours, yeah, to get

back, and it was usually in an hour an hour hour drive. Took me fourteen hours. But it's you know, but they did get to see, you know, like dimmer's darkness, a dimmer switch. So you can go there and areos watch the recreation aureos. Well, if you can't make the solar eclipse today, don't worry. The stoner eclipse is going to be happening just a few a few days. This is something that you know,

it really does only happen once in a lifetime. What this year the date of April twentieth aka foh yeah four twenty yeah, yeah, I got it. Four to twenty that's when all the stoners celebrate. They're calling this the stoner eclipse because if you put four twenty twenty four, it's a palindrome. It's going to be four to twenty twenty four either way, just another excuse to pack another bowl, of course it is. Of course the kids

say these this won't happen again until April twentieth, thirty twenty four. Or light up a blunt? Is that what the kids says? I don't know it's illegal, so I wouldn't know. M puff puff give that what the kids say? Oh what a relief? It is. No, no PuF puff give I know it's puff puff passed? Oh no, puff puff past pass right right? Or it's all I've heard. I don't know. I

don't know either. Damn Stoner's knows. When people get hopped up on the pot, Yes, they get out of their mound and they do things they shouldn't. Yes. Well, good news is that the remake of Winning the Pooh is a horror movie did good enough where they're gonna make a terrible or they've made a sequel. It was terrible. It was terrible? Was it? He was terrible? I couldn't get through it, And then I started watching because it was so bad. You know how you're getting that. I

do love the concept because the concept is Christopher Robin. He becomes friends with Pooh Bear and Tigger and Piglet and all of them in the woods, and then he just grows up and abandons them, right, and then they're pissed off, and they're pissed. They're pissed, they're out for blood. And there is some boobies. Is there really? Yeah, there's some boobies in it. Let me right before the girls are brutally murdered. I don't care. That's it's like, it's like, okay, but I did not enjoy

it. I said, oh, this could have been so much better. I don't speak. No, don't watch Winnie the Pooh movie. Thank you for the boot reference. Good news is there's a sequel now, Winning the Pooh, Blood and Honey Too. It's now playing in select theaters. It's gonna it's opening to surprisingly good reviews. Tony, you always use Rotten of Tomatoes, right, y'all? Y'all initially Rotten Tomatoes with critics score of one

hundred percent, since dropped to sixty three percent. Right, But on the other hands, it's been it went to from one hundred percent of sixty three percent. Now it's kind of leveled off at eighty three percent. It's still high. Yeah. Right, And from an source I cannot mention, said, yes, it's puff puff pass and you pass to the left. Yeah, these are stoner hippie don't you from the left hand, me me me meeting all right, So a path of totality is today two thirty ish for

Louisville, but it's only not putting four percent total to total. No, I was just talking with Ian. Yeah, it's around three o'clock in because that's what I'm doing. That's what I'm doing my uh E clip soundtrack about Are you sure? Okay? Hang on, I don't really care. I do five eighty four. If you care. Let's see when is the clips? Uh? It's m well do tayo eight all had time? Yeah, thank you for banging on your sput nick laptop. That a is twenty years

long old Paduca, Kentucky. It's gonna be that can't be right? What time since twelve twelve forty two pm? Okay, that's when it begins. Uh. And then the maximum eclipse is gonna be two to one in Paducah, so I guess they're Central time, so it will be three okay, three oh five in Henderson, Kentucky is when it's gonna be a total claps. Well, we try to take calls. Apparently they're not they're not. Oh, there's somebody online too that possibly could be with us. It wants

to talk about the path of totality. Oh is uh Line one is interesting. Let's go to uptose. Oh hey, yes, yay, you're on news radio for w h A S. You're on the radio. What's going on? Oh? We gotta get these phones not again, we gotta get these phones working. Can you hear me? Yes? I can, Yes, we can, yes, we can. Are you doing too good? I am also the high priest of the Sun God Raw, and you got

angered. To God, we what do we do for forgiveness? At three o'clock he will show us to put this pleasure to you by blotting out the Oh my god, okay, thank you, thank you. Up to sun guy man, that was scary. I told you appreciate it. Goofing on the I know, son, guys is your fault. Some guys just so temperamental. You used to be able to goof autom I know, Sun God Raw's pissed. Let's go to Terry online too. What's up, Harry?

How are you? Hey? Good? Good? I have scheduled and looked up the schedule for Mount Washington. Mount Washington partially clipped start to nine. Well, let me stop you right there, because I hate to do this too. Uh, she's pronouncing it wrong. Friend of the show. Yeah, you dropped the r. It's Mount Washington, thank you, carry thank you. I'm sorry to correct you on air, but it's got to stop. Okay, So you're Washington. Okay, go ahead and start over.

Yeah, go ahead, okay. In Mount Worshton. It is oh night for the partial and the eclipse peak is at three twenty four. Are you going to go out and then and watch it? I have gotten glasses and made sure everyone at work has glasses and we will watch it. Terry, you want to make sure that you're wearing a mask. Thank you, Terry, Thanks you? All right? No, man, no, I don't think I don't think that's access. Well I will. I will invite you to listen to me on WQMF my son and his daughter. I'm like you,

it's going to be ninety nine points something percent totality here. Yeah. But they have to drive all the way to Indiana in traffic and all that. Ye, and you know Fordufences, I would not do that. Let me ask you. Let me ask you this. Uh. Did they have to pull the kids out of school? They have no children, They're millennials. Okay, okay, all right, good call Terry, all right,

take care of yourself when you're looking at it. I think there's a lot of a lot of people that are going to not wear the glass and go. But look at hurt my eyeballs? Man, Oh it is the moon, the moon sun whatever. Do take an eyeball. I don't care. I dare you? Dare you look at it? Dummy? As far as up to this is concerned, bring it all raw, bra If I can one of them cool patches, it look like a pirate. I'm good. Then is that is that the route that you would go? Or would you

go? Sunglasses? Patch? Absolutely? A patch is pretty cool. Are you kidding me? That's just pretty freaking Oh my gosh. Let's go to Mary d. She is on with us on w h A S. How are you Mary? I'm good, guys. Let's set you all the time in the morning while I'm working at home. Yay, thank you? Mary? What do you wear? Stop it? Are you going to attempt to watch the eclipse today? Mary? I am. I work from home, but my break is at three o'clock and my glasses from the last time that

we had the again. Oh you kept them. So, yes, I did. So I'm a pocrat. So today I got it from my mother. So but yeah, I'm gonna go out and see if, hopefully I can see it. It's a little cloudy here in Frankfort right now, but hopefully it'll clear up. Hey, can you help me because I have a drawer. I have a junk drawer, and kep talking about your drawers, and and I will empty that thing, like I'll say, we'll empty it, will empty the drawer in the kitchen, and then somehow, somehow it's

full again with used batteries and rubber bands. And I don't know what the hell else? Is there any advice? How do I get rid of the junk drawer in the kitchen? Just keep it and throwing it away? It's starting over. Okay, I got two questions. I got two questions for you. Okay, Number one, what do you do where you work? At home? I work for the Department of Medicaid Services. Ok okay, number two, you mentioned your pack rat. What's the very what's the difference

between my wife and Noah? Noah only had two of everything? Alrighty, I bet you I married you. I bet you have I bet you're a very patient person because you have to. I am, yeah, because I talk to people at working with folks that you work with, right, and they say the hardest thing is trying to describe them how they can go to a website to to fix something right, and then that that they'll call back and they'll go, no, no, no, don't click on that.

Here's what you need to click on. And you have to be very patient for what you do. I find I commend you at your job, Thank you very much. I work with the Waivers and but I really like it and I got a great you know, support staff work, and we work hard for the for the people of Kentucky. I love it. Thank you all right, you're welcome. Guys, you got it all right. See you see that had been my wife and like kept the glasses, like what

what are you keeping the glasses for? And it's like because there might be another adults and then guess who's right? She goes told you we needed these. Hey, guys, I just had a caller. He didn't want to go on the air, but he said those eclipse glasses expire after a certain time. I get ready to say that, how could they expire? Dude, that's what he said. That makes sense. Oh no, hey Mary d if you're listening, those things can expire. Well, boy, were

selling a lot of eye patches at Walgreens. Yeah, uh, Edlan and Edlan sell your home for one percent. Commissioner. If you're in the path of totality and you're just sick of this eclipse stuff, I want to move Edlin and Edland one percent commission rate five nine twenty eight hundred. That's the phone number of the owner, five nine nine twenty eight hundred column. So you're gonna sell my house for one percent? He's going darntute we are.

Let's get started five nine nine twenty eight hundred. Or go to Edlund dot com. Hey, I had on you know, truth and advertising. He more than likely won't say darntutin, but he will sell your hall for one percent. Okay, you're right, he's not gonna say darntuna like I wish, could I wait? Could you don't know? You don't know? News Radio eight forty whas all right, Derek? So jobs report is that? Is that what's driving today for? And remember to look at it. Oh

we're up about seventy two points right now. So not bad, not bad, not bad. I'm slightly higher right now. The DOUBT is up seventy eight points, the NAZAC up sixty, and the S and P is twelve points higher. Today's solar eclipse is expected to cut solar energy by more than thirty gigawatts, or roughly the output of thirty nuclear reactions. We've been making fun of the eclipse all day. All give me odent. We angered the sun. God raw. Yeah, he's pissed at us, He's really pissed.

Is not good? But continue? Will you apologize? I think it's ridiculous. Est put together by Schneider Capital showed that the Texas power grid will be affected the most, but the CEO of the consulting firm said power prices would be largely unaffected, so that's good news. Tesla shares are up nearly five percent after Elon Musk posted on x that four months from today, Tesla will unveil its long promised Robotaxi and Louisville Downtown Partnerships launching a new happy hour

music and market series in downtown Louisville starting this Thursday. The free market and music series will take place on select Thursdays and Fridays April through October at the Fourth Street Plaza across from the Kennedy International Convention Center. And that is what's happened with the news radio eight forty WJS Bloomberg Money Report. I'm Erica Hursquitz.

We did not expect what we heard this morning. Late last night, on a Sunday night, reports on Twitter started to come out that John Calipery could take the job at Arkansas. As early as today. We still have no official press release from the University of Kentucky or Caliperi, but it looks like it's a done deal. We bring in our expert from Lexington, Dick Gabriel is going to come in and talk with us. Dick, how are

you, sir? I'm good. How are you? It's a little weird, I thought, okay, So you know, you look back at the video for let's start from the beginning nine days ago. You get the video the interview between Mitch Barnhardt and Rick and Rick Patino. Oh boy, John Caliperi, Oh boy, John Caliperi, and all is great. He's gonna stay the coach. He's gonna change some coaches. He's gonna change some of his tactics. We're gonna move forward. But I guess that was all not

so not so true. What's your take, what's happened in the last twenty four hours? Well it might have been true at the time, but in the interim what changed. Arkansas comes calling and suddenly Miss Barnard has to sit down do better meeting with his employee. But the next thing, you know, the employees got more leverage than he had when he walked into that meeting. So now the employee can say, well, they're offering me this and

that and gonna let me bring in whatever transfers I want. And they got this big pile of nil money that's got a Tyson Chicken wrap around it? You know, Can I get any of that here? No? Okay, see you in Fayetteville, So you know, yeah, you're right. We haven't heard it's a done deal yet. I keep hearing it's all but done. But you know, that's happened before and things have fallen through, but I expect this to go through. Hey, Dick gabro, how do you

like? Who do you like? If you were a betting man on replacing Caliperry. I think they call Danny Hurley you got to make them say no. Then you turn to Nato, Scott Drew, maybe the guy at Iowa State tj otso Berger. But wouldn't Rick Patino be interesting? That's where I was going to ask you question how far down would he be on the list in your opinion, Dick, Because I mean, I think he's still got some years any but I don't know. Yeah he does, but how many?

And you know, do you want to be doing You hate to say this, you don't want to sound ages. And I think Rick Patino, for what is he seventy one? He probably has the energy of a fifty one year old. Agreed, But you know, and you talk about making the biggest splash in college basketball. Really, anybody the hire is going to make a splash. But what a great story that would be? Uh? He would keep definitely read Shepherd. I think, Uh, I don't know

whether this is re gooes now that Cal has gone. I don't know. But Rick comes in. You know his dad played for Rick, so that could be a we keep read. You got the other mister Kentucky kid coming in in the backcourt and rebuilding it from like the ground up. God, could it look just like in nineteen ninety when he did it with grassroots players, that would be amazing story. But I think Dan Hurley, you're right,

they're going to throw the brinks truck at him. Reports now that Mitch Barnhart is prepared, and again you don't know what's true on Twitter, but you're reading, you're reading that Mitch Barnhart is prepared to make him the richest basketball coach in college history. I think that's probably the smart play. And boy is he motivated because obviously how much of the relationship between Mitch Barnhart and

Caliperi had deteriorated and brought this on. Well, I think a lot of it had, But you know, I think it all starts with that win loss record and with the fact that the fan base was up in arms. And I don't think Kentucky was underachieving because of that relationship. I think it's cause and effect, you know, chicking an egg if you will. And I just think that Cali Perry's relationships with a lot of people deteriorated as the

program deteriorated. So you know, it's like anything, he's going to back his coach. He's going to support his coach. And as I understand it. He went in mid season and said, hey, is there anything I can do and didn't really have a pleasant conversation, but cali Perio did as I understand it, most of the talking. Wow, So you know, now a chance to start clean talking with Dick Gabrie. Of course, cali Perry's the topic. Dick. There's an old saying, you know, be

careful what you wish for. You just might get it. And you know, we've all had a girlfriend that we let go and we're refine and then you see her with another guy and you start getting the feelings back. When it comes to the fan base, look, they've been calling for cal Perry's head more and more, and towards the end of the season, you know, people were disappointed that he that he's had the meeting with Mitch. Do you think the fan base regrets this or do you think they're actually happy for

the most part. You can't speak on everybody for the fan base, but you think the majority of the fan base is at peace with this decision or is breathing a sigh of relief. Could be, but I'm never sure if the majority or the squeaky minority. I mean, but I think more and more, there was a disconnect with cal Perry and the fan base. And even if they didn't like him, if they may have still liked him,

but there was this disconnect, you know. And that's not to say that there will be this great warm feeling when the new guy gets here, but yeah, it just had deteriorated so much. And let me make it clear, I think John Caliperry's done more for the state of Kentucky when it comes to tornado relief, flood relief. Amen, the telethon he had for Haiti and our TV station back when I was at KYT, which I worked on, I mean, he was incredible, like that boundless energy as we all

know. It's what have you done for me on the scoreboard lately? Yeah, and it just hasn't been happening. Now. You also got to wonder about this how many I mean, you gotta think he's going to try to take every recruit with him that he has lined up for Kentucky, right right, yeah, all two, But you mentioned Travis Perry will well, no doubt stay here. But what happens if the new guy gets here and all those recruits are gone, Well, you got to hit the ground running.

You got to work the crap out of the portal. Yeah yeah, and it's it seems like late in the rotation, but there's plenty of players still out there to get. But we will see. It depends on and then what coach will bring his players with him. Louisville's new coach brought already brought two kids from Chattanooga. The two best players on that team are now on Louisll's team. So that you know, if you get Dan Hurley is hurly going to bring the players. But let's circle back and let's look at two

thousand and nine. I've always said Cali Perry needed Kentucky as much as Kentucky needed Cali Perry. It was a perfect marriage because Caliperi was the slippery rogue guy in CAA basketball and he needed the legitimacy of UK to shore his legacy up. I think right because Memphis and UMass. He had been in trouble in both those places and for some reason people had pinpointed cal as the bad guy in college basketball. He needed Kentucky's reputation. He needed Kentucky to legitivise

his career, and Kentucky needed him. After Billy g and boy. They hit the ground running. They I mean, he won the first nineteen games of that first season. Remember they went nineteen and oh and it was they were ranked number one. It was crazy, but they needed each other. It was a perfect match. I agree. And even though I think that he did get a bad rapid Memphis, but people said, oh, the

NCAA is going to set up a branch office on Euclid Avenue. Nothing happened here, And frankly, the situation was Marcus Camby's friends got money from an agent. That's what got him in trouble there. Cali Perry gathered all the influence, turned it into the NCAA, and he took the hit for it. Derreck Rose may or may not have cheated on his his act. Cali Perry took the hit for that. But you're right, it's stuck to him and basically coming to Kentucky kind of clean the slate for him. And you

know, in terms of major problems, there never has been one. Here might have been some secondary stuff. Everybody has secondary stuff. But that's a great point. And now you know he'll he'll start cleaning at Arkansas. Evidently, Dick Gabriels our Gas. We're talking universit Kentucky basketball more specifically Cali Perry and I don't think it's official yet, but more than likely close as supposed

to Canby leaving as head coach. And you know, Dick, the NCAA is the products is just not what it used to be because of one and done and Calas He's always able to get these great premiere players in. But because you can't jel as a team, in my opinion, it creates losses. But do you think that at what point did the decline happen? Does

the lifetime contract have anything to do with that? Because, if you ask me, having a healthy fear of losing your job is gonna I don't know help with performance that could be. But let me ask you this, if they complete that undefeated season, yeah, in twenty fifteen, are we having that conversation if North Carolina's if mat doesn't hit that jump shot that sends Carolina, yeah, instead of Kentucky to the Final four? Are we having this

nineteen? If they close out Auburn by virtue of a miss jump shot and go to the Final four instead of Auburn? Are we thinking in this direction? But again, it's what have you done for me lately? I can't tell you whether or not the lifetime contract had anything to do with it, but that just tells you how tenuous college sports can be. His first five years which were glorious here relatively injury free with the exception of Alex Poeters and

Willie cally Stein a little bit. But he has had such a rash of injuries of late. But hey, that's part of college sports. Well, let me ask you this. Do you think this factor's in with coaches decisions? Because coaching for University of Kentucky, I gotta tell you that's it's a hell of opportunity. But I know he what he's pointing to is that's why you settle. Is that why you settle for Billy g in the first place?

Because people are like, it used to be the job who Who's I don't know who said at first you would know this that says it's the job you don't want, but you can't turn down. Has it become the job that you don't want? And certainly you can turn it down because everybody else is paid that too, Dick? Along with does it factor in that the fan base is quite fanatical when it comes to sport of those can't turn down. Yeah, don't want Does that factor in with oh just for the pressure,

Yeah it has to. And caller Perry joked about how this job ages you and dog years, it's not a joke. Look at the before and after pictures and Suly, we all change in fifteen years. We used to kind of look at Tubby Smith's before and after pictures. He was there ten years, right, And Tubby once told me that Lou Holts had a conversation with Tubby about the basketball job at Kentucky the football job at Notre Dame. He said he told Tubby said, man, you got to get out of

there. Yeah, you know, before it kills you, because that's just not every job's like that. Matt Painter has been at Purdue forever and there's been pressure, but you know he's about to win or at least take a shot at the national title. But yeah, there's a grind. I think the Louisville jobs like that. But for so long, the coaches at Louisville

were successful and that wasn't an issue. But boy, I'll tell you what, if you're not successful and you don't make a final four run every three or four years at a place like Kentucky, that seat is pretty itchy. Yeah. Yeah, when we were doing the when we were doing the Dogs, I said that when after five years, I said, he was there's no way he stays longer than ten. I said, you cannot do this job longer than ten years. And when he did, I said, look,

I'm wrong. He's he's lasted longer than ten. But if you look at the record the last four or five years, maybe he should have laughed after ten. After ten. But yeah, but in the long run, legacy wise, for Kentucky, he will be treated like Rick Patino. He will be treated like one of the great ones, and they she should have a statue out front. I mean, John Calipari came in and turned Kentucky back into the coolest program in the country with the John Walls and everyone else's.

I mean, it was just what unbelievable runs they had and the players that went through and made them cool again. Kentucky was cool again. And I think in the long run his legacy will be secured as Kentucky fans will love him forever. I think I agre with you. And when Patino left, people were kind of tired of him flirting with the NBA. It flirted with five different teams. They were ready to drive him to the airport. Now they're they're on social media saying, hey, wantn't be cool if we

got him again, if he came back. So you know, but yeah, again, that's college sports and how Fickler fans and that's all part of being a fan is short for fanatic. Remember, Yeah, absolutely, and did Gabriel. By the way, I think the question on everybody's mind, the elephant in the room that has to be asked, is are you going to watch the eclipse during a path of totality location or just watching from where you're at? You know what, I'm happy to be on with you,

guys, Tony Veneti's my hero. You're a horrible judge of character. What are you talking about? What we're doing? Two or three other TV and radio shows. There's so much chatter around the country. I may miss the eclipse complex, dude. I said it this morning. I was like, damn, he couldn't do this tomorrow. We got the clips today and do call tomorrow. But yes, we stick together, us turned you guys stick together, go rocks, all right? That's right. Ex great to hear,

my friend, Dick Riel, you are the best. We'll talk to you soon and go do the other shows. I knew you're wanted and I appreciate you last second coming on the show with us. Brother never a problem, buddy, all right, man, see you, but we'll hear a lot from him in the next couple of weeks. Obviously Kentucky Derby comes and uh and we'll have to do that. All right, short break, we'll come back on news radio. Anybody Bardo's Pizza, real quick pizza. Baby.

I love Baronos pizza. You will too. But if you don't like pizza, no fret. They have lots of menu items like sandwich is, salads, pastas, wings. You'll be amazed. Go to your neighborhood Barono's pizza or get it to carry out or delivery. Bar knows pizza. Dine in carry out or delivery. Yeah, it's that good. Stick around back to put a bow on it and wrap it up in just a second. News right away, forty whas and then of course, no official word from

John Caliperry or the University of Louisville, Mitch Barnhunter or whatever. But it looks like it is done. Kentucky is going to get a new basketball coach. Their top target will be Dan Hurley. By the way, Dan Hurley is coaching in the National Championship game tonight with Yukon. So it's an interesting story. We'll dominate the news and the rest of the day along with the total path totality. Always remember, if you look at get the eclipse,

to wear a mask. It's the best way to protect your eyeshine. I hope you have a great time. Everybody. That doesn't sound accurately, and please don't do that. And these aren't just words. We love you, no, no, those are just words, all right, they are just words, but we still love you. Yes, for Rick, Dwight Whitten and Tony Venetti, we will see you later. And Dave will be back

tomorrow after he blinds himself by right directly into the eclipse. This afternoon on news radio eight forty wuh I love you, ma,
