I wouldn't say I miss him, but I do miss him a little bit. I wonder which one he misses more, you or I. It's Jeff Milby, formerly of w h A S before he Big Time just to go, you know, pursue his dreams to pull this one on you. It's actually Daves. I missed Dave. Okay, Oh my l mg, oh my g oh listen, Dave and I had a special connection. All four of us knew it, and I knew he was the most heartbroken when I left. You know, I did love your restroom time together. I will

admit that we did. We really did. One of the last things was Jeff did say, you know, we'll keep in touch, and I know he won't, and you laughed and went, you're right, we won't. Hey, here, we are here, we are here, We are okay. So I I read this. I had this story and I was telling Tony Cruz about it, and I was like, there's a really good article about shotgun houses. And I can't remember where I read it or where the

reference was. So Tony Cruz goes go to get a goot gun and he goes is Jeff Milby, and I went, oh, perfect, this is great. H So I before I even knew it was you, I was objectively saying this is a good article. What made you do an article on shotgun houses? Well, it's we I write for Luke Today Now it's the name of the publication. Daily newsletter five days a week. We cover all

things about Louisville, and we write a lot of history content. We like to kind of explain the city to people, you know, little aspects of the city that maybe folks don't know about. And shotgun homes are everywhere. I mean, I know you guys drive around town all the time, but especially in like the oldest, older parts of the city of Louisville, they

are shot and gun homes all over the place. And so we just thought would be a cool idea to kind of explain that little bit of Louisville history because a lot of people, you know, maybe don't realize what a shotgun home is or why there are so many here, and that kind of thing. So we just wanted to explain our city a little bit to our readers. Tony had a good question earlier. I believe that it would be the entire nation, but are they referred to shotgun houses everywhere in other cities beside.

Yeah, they are, they are. They're really common, and a lot of cities across the South. Saint Louis has a big section of them, Houston, Texas has a big section of them, and New Orleans is really where they're credited with, like being created, where they became popular. They had the largest section of shotgun houses until unfortunately Katrina, right and then after that after that, Interestingly, Louisville now has the largest group of shotgun

homes in the country. Okay, yeah, they're called they're called hutgun homes wherever they are. Okay, that's interesting that Louisville. First of all, I don't know how they could actually pin that number down, but yes, we think so. We think Louisville has one of the largest collection of shotgun houses in America. Is crazy, that is that's interesting. But look, I grew up here, do I grow up at you did? So it's yeah, shotgun was just my friend's first house was a shotgun house. We

know everybody lived in a shotgun house. They used to be a cheap, a starter home for families and now dude, Jeff, they are three hundred thousand dollars some of these shotgun houses. Yeah, they're they're getting crazy expensive. I tell you what, I live in a shotgun house right now in Germantown that that was flipped in twenty seventeen. Yeah, I mean, they're they're really becoming a hot item on the housing market anywhere in German Town Stelberg.

Yep, they're they're really going up. You can find of other places in the city though, Like Portland, I was looking on some real estate sites for the peace there's still some very affordable houses and other parts the city shotgun houses and other parts of the city. Yeah, they're certainly trendy right now. For whatever reason, they originated in West Africa and then they were introduced to dy Huh. Yeah, that's right. They somehow. Don't ask

me how. I just did some reading on it for the piece, and you know, some architectural historians, whoever those guys are, they were able to kind of trace the history of the design of the shotgun house, you know, from New Orleans all the way down to the Caribbean and all the way to Africa. Yeah, oddly enough. Don't don't ask me how they were able to trace that, but that's what they came up with and that's

what they have written. So there's a long history of the design of shotgun homes and it's just a it's a neat little part of Louisville's architectural makeup. I mean they're all over town, you know, anywhere you go, you can see a whole whole slew of shotgun homes. And then I and part of your article goes over how some of them now turned into businesses. Yeah,

that's right. They're they're super versatile. I mean, the Louisville Metro government they put out a piece, a video piece several years ago where they talked about the value of shotgun homes as potential businesses because you know, they're often in walkable neighborhoods, they're often you know, really closely together. That's one of the things people that don't like shotgun homes are always like, oh, I would never live in a shotgun home because your neighbors can see take

a shower. That's not necessarily true. But the benefit of that is is if somebody wants to turn one of those homes into a business, they've already got a community of people that will go to that business right around them. So yeah, a lot of shotgun homes that have been flipped in businesses. I gotta do is take drive down Goss Avenue and there are a ton of shotgun homes along that stretch that are now you know, restaurants and bars and

all kinds of places. It's it's a really it's a really cool piece of Louisville. I've been trying to get my neighbors to watch me shower for years, so all I got to do is get a shotgun show. There you go, okay with Jeff Milby's who were to talking about with Louisville Today dot call lou Today dot com. The articles there about shotgun now it's very interesting.

That's why I called you. You wanted to talk about. But I don't buy that because I've driven in neighborhoods, whether there's seven hundred million dollar houses or whatever, where you can touch each house. If you're in between them, your hands can touch each one. They're very close together. So whatever it is, but shotgun houses are You're a starter. You you're you just had a baby. How's the baby? Tell you what, guys, It's it's pretty great. You just turned four months. He's he's healthy as

could be. Sixteen pounds already growing like weed. It's crazy how much a baby changes in four months. That's that's kind of the biggest takeaway that I've had. I mean, like, when you're not a parent, people always tell you that time flies when you have kids. Yep, you know, they grow up so fast. It's like the cliche, right, they grow up so fast. But oh my God is a true Oh my God is the true. Ye, this kid is a different kid than he was when

he was born. Do you when do you, guys stop watching what you say around it before it starts repeating things? You know what are you probably gonna start doing that now? Maybe a little bit. I don't know when they start talking. But here's here's the issue. I work from home now and my wife is always in and around the house working and sometimes you guys, know, when you're working hard, words kind of fly out of your mouth. Yeah, got a kind of yes, they do. We got

to start watching ourselves. Well, I think that's interesting. I think you that's interesting. Now. I had a tactic and no one told me or to do it or not to do it, But I talked to my kids. I don't care what age, whatever it was. I talked to them like an adult. I did not talk in kid terms, right, like talk down to them or whatever. When they were four or five, I talked to them like an adult. I thought their vocabulary was better than the

other kids in school because of that. But that's just me because dads, you know, parents think they're better. But we we just do your best. You do your best and then you move to the next day. But because you'll be a hero one day and the next day you'll be a complete zero. Uh but uh, so you're gonna have a Jeff, you'll have a choice, you and your wife. How you're gonna speak to your I was not gonna do the kid talk to my kids. I couldn't do it.

So you're gonna choice. I'll be real with you. Well no, no, no, no, because he is a baby. He's a baby, and I'm talking when they get to be when they start talking, you're having conversations. No man, I go, hey, yeh wait, you did you curse at your kids, Tony, Is that what you're saying? You cursed at your kids? Of course, we h, I don't know. We are very ethnic. We are I'm Italian and Cuban. They're part

of part of part of who we are is colorful language. We try to watch it write what our language is, but it would slip out, and but we we try to. Now our kids couldn't cuss, you know, but there was there was times that Maggie got a little spanking because she said the F word or no, John said it, and then Maggie threw me under the bus by saying, sometimes dad puts mother in front of it. So, yeah, there's some tattle tales. You gotta know. You gotta

know which kid you can trust. Right, that's not going to tell on you because it's Jeff. If you do have multiple kids, you will be included in the kid kingdom, right. Mom is kind of the adult, and you're you're part of the kingdom kid kid deal a right, Yeah, that's right. I mean I'm looking forward to the fun part of that, right, And I'm already in the dog house all the time. I'm already in the Yes, yeah, I'm ready to doing breaks. Go forward.

So did you know that Louisville also has the largest number of restored Victorian homes? Did you know that that's true? No? What they actually not, James Atkinson, not just restored. It's the largest number of Victorian homes in general in the Victoria Principal. Okay, all right, so Jeff Milby used to be with us. Now I don't know what you're doing besides Louisville today, and and I you know that you're also still calling the soccer games for

lu CITYFC. Correct, that's correct? Yeah, And when does that season start coming up? In mid March? We're actually getting really close, to believe it or not. That's one of the wild things about soccer season. It's like eleven months long. That's preseason. Just kicked it off for them about a week ago. I know both the men and the women racing racing Louisville and lou City. They're both out in Arizona right now and doing some preseason spring training if you want to call it that. But yeah, it's

really close upon us for both teams. I think the only sports it might have a longer season would be NHL. If the NBA's long, I would say NHL because your preseason starts mid September. But then if you go to Lord Stanley's Cup, you're skating from late September all the way to about mid that's a long season. I like that you full title Lord Stanley's that George Stanley's cup. I show respect. We're we're not talking about these Stanley cups

that the lady women's are walking around with our ice code waters in. We're talking about the real pimp your website real quick. Where we find this article? I found it very It was very well written. And I said that before I found out it was you. I might have been a little bit more tough on the article if I knew it was you, Jeff, But but it's very well written. Tell us, tell us about your website, not your complement from Tony Venetti is always well earned. I okay that it

is Lootoday dot six a mcity dot com. I can just google Loo Today, l ou Today, you can find it. We're a newsletter five days a week. We've got thirty seven thousand subscribers. We've got forty three thousand followers on Instagram. We we cover h you know, economic developments and just kind of positive news about Louiell. We don't cover politics, we don't cover crime. Thanks to do this weekend, fun events happening around town, awesome

that kind of stuff. So so it's positive news about Louisville lou Today, l O U t O d A Y and lou City and Racing Louisville that come up in mid March. A lot of storylines you guys can get to get into about those two teams. They both kind of win into some makeover in the off season, with LU City coming off of a little bit of disappointing year and Racing is still trying to build toward that first playoff appearance.

It's gonna be a really fun soccer season for both of those teams. Jeff Milby, We uh, we miss you, Yes, we do, we miss you. Tell you what, Tony, In honor of you, I'm gonna go curse right into the face of my baby boy. Fantastic, good boy, good Tony. Thanks, thank you. All right, tell all those people down at lou City when you get down there. And Mark said, we said, Hi, have a great season with that one. And if we see another article well written like that, I will try to see

who wrote it first before uh, before I do my decision. All right, Jeff Milby, We'll talk to you soon, buddy, all right, love a guy, you man, I love you, Jeff c Bro Jeff Milby, he was a lot of fun we was here. I think he enjoyed a little back and forth when we used to do these. I am Johnny from the news. Now. Yeah people. Yeah, two totally different people. Not one is better than the other, They're just different. I would say, semen, Johnny's better. Just gotta look at that. Hey

look like Margaret Thatcher said. I called him like a season. It is one of her famous Margaret Thatcher's statements. All right, Weight Loss Centers of Louisville nine oh six seventy one oh five. six seventy one oh five, or go to fatloss Kentucky dot com. Back after this, we'll play Reeling in the Years with Scott Carr from the Bloomberg Money Minute on news radio at forty whas all right, it is a little after ten o'clock actually almost down at the bottom of the half hours. That means it's Reeling in the Year. Scott Carr is gonna help us here with the Bloomberg Money Minute. We are planning a trip to New York. I'm not sure if we're gonna stay with Cody Donahoe or not. Uh. Like

I said, she got a little handsy. She can be a little. She's a lot hands that's true, so we'll figure it out. She is in a battle with cancer. She's in around seven She thinks of a ten round fight. So Scott, we are gonna come up to New York. We're trying to decide not whether to stay with Courtney because she's like, you all are staying here, and I'm like, ah, she's so handsy.

Yeah, she's a little handsy. So we're gonna we're gonna figure out what to do when we come up and see But I want to come see you too, Scott Card. Do you do it from home or are you at the downtown office? Well, unfortunately, I'm in Washington, d C. Scott flight, but if I'm in a littleville, I'll tell you what. I'm definitely stopping in your studio. Yes, darn right you are. And I've never People will probably be mad at me for saying this, but I

haven't been there yet. But it's a place I want to get to. Yeah, listen that smooth yet, Carval. Yeah, we're like any other town. We'll tell you what neighborhoods not to go into. Here we go. So we did Scott Carr's voice to do this. I know Scott. Car's got thank you for Tony and Dwight will be with you mom. He's more calming, he's a more calming voice than John Tucker. John Tucker's more

of an alarming like he. John Tucker is a the there's a fire alarm, get out of the house, right so, but Scott Carr is more of a you know, calm down blood pressure In New York, you know, they're a little more hyper app Absolutely, he did we piss off, Joan Donnagher. We haven't heard from what I guess we did. Certainly, I'm certain you did not. No, I'm sure. Well, you never

know. You don't know who gets to do? H is here the conversation where he go, all right, who wants to deal with Tony Dwight this week? Well, and then you look around the room and go, who's not here? Scott's not here? All right? Scott cars up this week? Scott just you know, we deal with that here at the radio station. And now they do us like people. They do it right in front of us. Who's gonna keep Pete Paul this weekend? I don't want him? All right? All right, Scott? All right, let's do reeling

in the years. Dwight has the song. So it's Rick myself and you we're gonna do. We're gonna try to guess songs we're on the top forty list this week. Nineteen sixty something. All right, right, ready, yeah, I'm ready. Green tambourine from the Lemon Pipers Lemon Pipers listen paper No. Sixty one of those psychdelic song. Yeah, that's actually a crossover. It came out on the charts in late sixty seven, and then that got to its peak in sixty eight. So it's kind of talking to you

know what, here's the thing, here's the thing. We don't need to know another song. We don't need to know another song because Rick said, I can name that tune in one tune in one note. So he says it's late sixty seven but charted through sixty eight, and since it's February fifth, Yeah, but is he right? I'm saying final, Scott, you want to go with me? I'm going and I'm going final final answer nineteen sure, yeah, Yeah, sixty eight was really hit the charts sixty eight

and he's right, yes, n sixty eight. Yeah. Wow. They love man for a filling right wreck and that gives it a love ten bits information actually recorded in Boston, but came from Cincinnati, so they oh my gosh, it's fantastic, all right. We start the week out right with he could have done without rain Man. That's right, all right, thank you, rec all right, have an excellent driver, driver, all right. So, so the market's been open for about an hour of futures looked

like it was going to come in just slightly lower. Are we about even here today or where are we looking for the dow at least? Oh, a little bit of a sellout going on today? Guys. The down's down now even further than it was three hundred and fifty one points down, the S and P five hundred lower by twenty nine Na's decks down ninety six points, and I guess we should mention we got some quarterly earnings reports today. McDonald's, which was a target for Boycott's after the war broke out with Israel

and Humas last October, they've reported sales. They missed their sales estimates in the fourth quarter of last year. Will that slow down the clown now? They still expect to open about sixteen hundred new restaurants worldwide this year. With the news radio eight forty WHA guess Bloomberg money report, I'm Scott Carr, Jim Brewer, very funny guy. We didn't get him back on the show. He just did that right off the cuff. Yeah, because most artists

go, how are you guys again? To go Tony and Dwighte'll go alright, Jim, all right? Do you have to mention the station? If you could, that'd be cool. But Brewer was like, I got it, got it, got it, and just rambled it off. You jomb dude. It is Monday, gonna be a nice day again today, the sun will be out fifties. How about that baby, where you get out of the house or are you gonna lock yourself in the houses again today? Well? Do you consider my backyard out of the house? Yeah, I'm

out of the house all the time. Like that's where I do. Ninety percent of my cooking is outside. Is there any way you build a bigger fence. You can't do it because we have way if we didn't have a homeowner station? Was it ten feet now? No, it's not even that. Most of you have a six foot Oh no, that that's gotta change. I want a twenty foot you know. I can't put a lid on it either. Canyon, Well, I thought about that, doing like a

dome. You want to be great. So here's why I did. I just got because the wife gets pissed off and I'll walk around naked outside and I said, it's my yard that they don't have to look. So she went and bought a bunch of these, you know, the gigantic umbrellas you put in the middle of the table. You know what you did? You like huh razor wire? Well, then you get sued. You know, Hey, Rick, do we have any like his work music? I'm gonna put you on the spots. I'm the damn he's quick, Rick, here,

quick, dude. I do want to say. That's the new Tom Hanks and the Steel Spielberg series about World War Two and the fly Boys called, Uh, what's it on? Please? I think it's Apple. It's Apple TV. So good, so good. Episode three was so good. I just I'm a nut for that kind of stuff. I like history. So that's why we're doing this segment called Today in History. I'm not getting another streaming service, no matter what. Even if Jaws, well even they

don't remake Jaws. All right, it's Today in eighteen seventy February fifth, eighteen seventy, the very first motion picture was ever shown to a theater audience. It was in Philadelphia. Fifteen hundred people got to see, uh, the first motion picture ever. It was just two people dancing a waltz and they did four. This is the first one. I was reading a text.

Well, this is the very first motion picture was shown today in eighteen seventy, oh without sound, because the very first one with sound was called The Jazz Singer. Well they had sound with it as as it was playing right, correct, but not yeah, yeah, so it was just two people dancing a walk. Okay, but think about what was year eighteen? What eighteen seventy? Okay, but can you think can you imagine like they're projecting this on the wall and some cowboy going what the hill? Kind of

which I wazerd blizzard image on the wall? How are you doing that? You better keep that away from the mcgarvy right, why'd you kill the projector guy? He needed killing? He's a witch. It's a people cake. Have you seen this? Here's commercial where they got all these gigantic cakes and there's two women and there get a fight. Yeah, and they break out and they fall out of the ground and whoever the country guy is it's like a cowboy goes there's people in the cake. It's a people cake. It's

a people cake. Today, February fifth, nineteen thirty one, Maxine Dunlap became the very first woman license as a glider pilot. Um you could tell because she hit her right turn signal on the entire flight. Maxine is a that's just an ant name, right, aunt Maxine. You think it is a Maxine. You get a lot of models named Maxine. No. By that, I don't know if I know a Maxine. Like if somebody said,

hey, Maxine's coming over you no, Maxine, No Maxine. No. It sounds like somebody would be like if someone said, hey, you know, uh Terrace is coming over and her friend Maxine's in town. Like if I were single, aggle Maxine, you say, yeah, Maxine makes an unbelievable pound cake. She knows a lot about pound Maxine. That one. I have a character with Hallmark cards called Maxine. That's the old Maxine I know. Really Yeah, she's like a grouchy old lady. I'm hearing

from my uh my pool guy. That says Louisill. Louis Will can have up to seven feet tall, not six feet. But I wondering your stupid neighborhood in Middletown that you have to have a Probably you know, it's probably our neighborhood. There's so much driving on mos of the road going, oh it's five and a half. Actually you're in violation. Well, as soon as sooner I started getting it measured with the good folks at Middletown fence, what's up, sammy? Uh? Both neighbors started coming out going, you

can't put up a fence. I'm like, what a bet you want to bet? One of them said, you're gonna ruin my view? I said, of what my yard? All right? So here we go is today and not limited landscapes, by the way, yeah, limited landscapes. It was today. In nineteen thirty seven, FT aka Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed enlarging the Supreme Court aka packing the Court, and it failed. It was today February fifth, nineteen seventy one, that Apollo fourteen astronauts Alan Shephard Junior

and Edgar Mitchell landed on the moon. Oh PAULA fourteen. Yeah, yeah. They They didn't last much longer than that because people just got it. Was it just wasn't as popular as it was. We beat the Russians and then people started to ask why are we spending this money on this? And NASA, To be honest, NASA was not a good steward of the money. It was just they were like jcps of space travel. It's like,

why does that ranch cost four million dollars? Right? And by the way, you know, when you're at the gym and you're naked and you're bending over to sit on the bench and some other guy is on the other side naked and your butt's touch, that's called a moon landing. That is not called the moonlight. And then if one of you are out of a shower and your butt's touch is called a splashtat. I don't understand people that do the naked sit on the bench because, first of all, a you're not

the only person that uses the bench all day. There are two thousand members of this gym and this is one locker room and we come and go all day. So why would you think it's okay to put your ball sack and the rest of your nasty butt on the seat where other people have to sit, or put their towel or put their gym bag or whatever it is on the bench. Some of us sit our grilled cheat sandwich there after our work.

Why God's name, I'll tell you what's worse than that? What about naked guy that walks up to the sink, puts one of the feet up on the sink and starts clipping his toenails. There was a guy you're doing blow drying his hair completely naked the other day, and he wasn't facing the mirror. He was facing towards us, of course, the locker room, and he was brushing his hair and had one leg to the side like he's in a Broadway play. And I was like, are you kidding the mirrors

that way, dude? It was very attractive man, But I said, dude, just look at the mirror. There's no one in this locker room gonna accept my invitation. What are we talking about? Oh, this day in history. Yeah, it was this day in history that Bob Douglas became the first black man elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, mass What was his name, Bob Douglas. We should we should know that name more Basketball Hall of Fame. I'm Bob Douglas. I'm in the Hall of

fame those man. You got to give it to those guys that broke the barrier mind. Oh yeah, could you imagine to put up with the treatment that those in the team got to stay in one hotel, they had to stay in another one. There was whole teams that wouldn't play them right, It's like crazy, it's crazy. But yeah, give it up to him for sure. It was today February fifth, nineteen ninety seven that Ojason Simpson was found liable in a civil court for the deaths of Ron Goldman, and

Nicole said, hey, you know why because he did it. Because he did it. Originally in the civil suit he was ordered to pay thirty five million dollars in damages. He has yet to pay any of it, and he now owes north of fifty eight million. How has that even happened? Well, and here's the thing, he doesn't care because your pension cannot be his NFL pension cannot be touched. So at least he gets that. And then the guy does, but he hasn't paid any of it yet. He

knows fifty eight million. But so here anyway, I use him as antage time. I said, look, that guy's that person that clearly did something, and then when you talk to him, you walk away from going he I think he believes he didn't do it, like in any situation in life, and I'll go he's OJ Simpson in this. I think. I think truly OJ has convinced himself he didn't do it well. And then he has the audacity to write a book if I did it well, and this also,

HI did it? I know only in America it was today. In two thousand and eight, a major's tornado broke out across the major tornadoes broke out across the United States. By the time it was over a day later, there were fifty seven that lost their lives homere injured. The most seven, Yeah, the most, says the May thirty first, nineteen eighty five outbreak that killed eighty eight. That is when two thousand and eight is about

the time that nerds found they're calling. I've got the nerds falling to become storm chasers. I've got a nerds finding their calling. Story. This truck is equipped to snatch it to the expressway, and we're right. It's extra heavy, and we have a doppler attached to the top. Shoot it up into the tornado. We will change, or as we just call it to natoes. That's right for tornado and NATO. Thank you. Ben's the what's the wind? Shear say? Seven point three? Go on my goat,

go on my camp, go go chase the NATO. That's short for tornado. It was today. In twoenty twelve, the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots at Lucasoil Stadium in the Super Bowl. That is one of the examples I give. I give people a cautionary tale about gambling. Yes, because the Patriots at that time were labeled the greatest football team of all time. They had a top defense, and they had the best offense ever. And seventy two Dophins had this to say, let's wrap it up with

some this is how you and I would get busted. Trying to steal one billion dollars from the Federal Reserve. It was February fifth, twenty sixteen. Computer hackers tried to steal one billion dollars from the Federal Reserve of New York using Bangaloo dash banking coats. They actually succeeded in stealing eighty one million dollars before typos alerted officials. Billion dollars are stolen every day is called the United States government from your tax dollars. Look at the post office? How much

day? If the government does it, it's not illegal. No, it's one last one, one last one. We'll do this when it was today. If they're giving immigrants one thousand dollars credit card per month and they're promising to spend it on food, well they promised, so we'll wrap it up on a better note than it was today. February fifth, twenty seventeen, and Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath played their last ever concert is Black Sabbath in

their hometown of Birmingtown. You can remember that, England, Birmingham, England. Sorry, bear knows. Pizza, Baby, It's what we had Friday night. Is what we have every Friday night, whether you get it to go, where you dine into your favorite neighborhood Baronos Listen, it's the big game this Sunday.
