All right, let's bring him in It to our boy Nick Coffee three pm to six pm on Sports Talk seven ninety every single day. He is the voice the authority that is sports in this town. And no one will question it. Coffee or I will fight you if you question it. Coffee, May coffee. How you doing? I'm doing well. That may be the best introduction I've ever received. So thank you. My day that was already going good, is going better. Now, what was it deal with the

naked guy at McDonald's yesterday? Ye had a naked guy mill It was exactly what you think it was. I was taking a left there on I believe it's Muhammad Ali where that no, I'm sorry, Market Street with the McDonald's is, and was going to head up to Fish Street and wasn't even really paying that close attention to the sidewalk. But then you kind of catch You look once and you think, wait a second, and you look back again, and there was a man with just a look to be a tank top

around his neck, not on, and then no cants or anything. Se Yeah, butt naked. And what really really stood out was that what you know, it wasn't an industry. There were many people driving and it's just, I guess become somewhat normal. It has a lot of naked I'm used to it now, I kind of dude. Like I was shocked when I pulled out of the parking garage and the naked dude was walking around, But so it should. Here's the question should have been, question does it does

it? Does it give you more of, like, you know, an interest in doing it knowing that others are doing it. I'm kind of interested. I might want to take a stroll through the gallery of the problem here, Nick, is that that second look is kind of a leer, you

know at that point. Yeah, all right, all right, Nick, we just we just had to Bloomberg moneyment it on and they are He told us the price point for this, for this possible new network that will be a streaming app with ESPN, TNT and Fox Sports, would be forty dollars a month. I mean that would lead to a lot of people probably canceling what ever service they have that gives them any level of live television. And forty dollars a month, I mean that's all massive in regards to how expensive

that was. But like, yeah, that's the only thing I watch live So what I what I was curious about is this. I mean, this clearly will give those sports networks more power. I think they're well aware that they are one of the last things that people truly consume live and they make sure it's something they see when it's happening live. But you know, do the schools, you know. I'm just curious how this would factor those contracts

because technically the Fox and ESPNS they own the rights to it. But I just if there was some burbage in there that that means you're going to be on lineing your television, because yes, the sports fans will get it because they're gonna want to watch. But I still think initially you would have an overall you know, you would lower your overall viewership. However, it may not matter because again, the reason they give you all that money is because

they own those rights and they'll do with them whatever they want. Well, they screwed me on the peacock thing. Couldn't watch the Dolphins Chiefs game without buying that I and I have the TECHNI on the peacock yeah, I'm suppoll yeah on the Cocks to get all of the NFL games, and I did not get that one. Is this gonna further erode that too. Yeah, they're gonna keep doing it. Yeah, I don't know they're gonna do it. I I remember, you know, I guess about five years ago everybody

kind of saw this was where we were headed. And sure enough, I think it's actually gone quicker than most realized. But Nick, at that time, though the streaming services were five dollars, he was like, oh, it's like six dollars you download the streaming ab Now. Oh, I'm sorry that we just heard it's gonna be forty dollars. We just asked him that. So but five dollars was okay. You're like, oh fine, I'll do it for five bucks. But you're you're gonna run people off at some

point. And I don't care. No gambling is gonna carry this thing into the next century. I just don't think it can. Nick, come on forty bucks. No, I I think it's not an issue with the product that is NFL college sports. You know, whatever it is you consume live. It's not that the product getting worse and there's less interest. It's just

we've never had more things to occupy our time with. And honestly, it's just doing stuff on our phone more than I mean, I think when you're a diehard fan of a team, it's really just part of your lifestyle. But there's a lot of people out there. It blows my mind because it's all I've ever known. But they don't really get into sports like that.

They keep up, they know what's going on. They listen to sports radio here and there, but like they're not in you know, they're not crying themselves to sleep like I am every night because Louisville basketball is a mess. So yeah, those people, you know, they may just feel like I can. I don't need to watch I'll know the score, I'll know who's good, I'll know what's going on. I don't need to actually pay for

that and watch it live. So I think you're onto something. I mean, I just think it's more so us evolving, as you know, society, different habits as far as how they spend their time. I start have a promotional night for the Cardinals of the Young Center, naked people night, you get in free, and all the naked people from downtown Low would just go in and fill the seats. Well, now, Nick speaking to Louisville basketball the other night, they looked as good as I've seen them in a

long time. Tyler Johnson was unstoppable. Question for you were more the Cardinal fans happy with that performance are disappointed. I think they're happy because it's a real good distraction, and I think it fades pretty quickly. But that was the best I've seen Louisville look since the twenty twenty season, when they were legitimately going to be a top three or four seed in the tournament and were number one in the country. I mean, that was a really, really

good performance. They were the better team really from start to finish. Not that Florida State didn't hang around and make some runs of their own, but I mean, Brandon only had Phil's duncan on everybody's head. Tyler Johnson clearly the best player on Florida and statistically did something that has never been done before by any Louisville guard, which is saying something Curtis Williams junior, He's as smooth as as I've seen a Louisville freshman, just really good offensively. It

was impressive. You know, I'm somebody then maybe it's just the way I'm wired that you know what it did to me is it confirmed what I've believed for the entire season. And I think I've said it to you guys many times. This team does not have seven wins in February because they don't have capable players. I mean, I've watched them play against Clemson the game they lost. I've watched them play against I mean even Virginia when they played them

there. I mean again, they got in both games. But it's not like you see a humongous gap. This isn't when Tom Crean took over Indiana and he literally started two walk ons. These are capable players, and I get more frustrated when I see that, because there's just no excuse to be this bad. Was well to answer, I'm answering with you, Yes, I think it made people happy. But on the second part of that is these idiot U of L fans that say, dude, what if he runs

six in a row? And they look at the rest of the schedule and they're like, he could get six, he could get six wins out of this, And it's like, what if what if we go ten to nineteen, Well, ten wins, this whole team's back if they do that.

Well, see, that's that's another thing that I don't want to mislead anybody like I have any kind of information, But if you're paying any attention to how college sports works in the last two years, the belief that any despite these guys playing hard for Kinny Payne and apparently still you know, supporting him when asked, that does not mean that are going to come back. No, you could keep Kenny Payne and lose half this team, the whole team.

That's just where we are because they're gonna get away and they're going to realize. Man, I've been here a year or two and we sucked. This is not a good situation for me. I mean, it's that's just delusion, I think. Now. Another part of it is that I've tried to figure this out in my head, and my brain doesn't work very well, especially whenever I'm just irritated by people who are doing what you mentioned, just acting as if a few wins here and there would make it that this

should continue to keep going on, we should sustain this awful era. And I just think there are certain fans that are wired that way. They know it, they don't want to acknowledge it, they don't want to hear it, and if you say it and you're somebody that they believe is supposed to be, you know, shaking the pom poms leading the pep rally, they

attack you. And it reminds me a little bit of you know, because there were people who called it in the post game show Saturday that wanted it to be a party, and that's just I couldn't fake that if I tried. We talked about the good stuff, but that's just not me, and I don't think that'd be good radio. But when Saturdayeople was here, we all knew that the ceiling wasn't high and he wasn't terrible, but man,

everybody was bored. There was no interest. I feel like they should have done something to make a move in the end, you dow, But I got crushed for that, Okay, And when he left, nobody complained because everybody knows down this is what should happen, and same things gonna happen with Kenny payn. These people out there that claim he should get a third year. When he gets canned and they move on with somebody else, will never

bring it up again. Nope, Okay, we go. We got two minutes here, So I want to mention this Dartmouth men's basketball players have basically they want to be employees of Dartmouth, which would allow them to move forward as electing a union. Uh. The Supreme Court or which what body of work? Baby baby basically said that's fine. You are now in the labor organized Yes, an l RB. Yes. I said, yeah, that's fine. They ruled that you can be employees. This is a way out.

I think this is a way If you're going to be a union, then then there's a negotiation table. Then we could say, fine, you want to be a paid employee, then here's a contract, like Rick Patino said on Twitter and said, you got to stay two years, you have to stay three years. If you're going to be a union and you're gonna be an employee, then let's set some ground rules. And right now we don't have any yep. I think we'll see what happens with this appeal.

But yeah, I mean, first of allf Dartmouth wants to be employees, they'd instantly be fired because they're literally one of the worst teams in the country and they don't bring in any money. So their case is interesting because of who it is. Cause reality like when it comes to being a student athlete is a choice. Nobody's making you do it. You don't have to do

it, you choose to do it. And yeah, you may have to balance some things, but if you want to be an employee and make money, you probably will get capped out to where you won't make the money you could make through NIL. And oh, by the way, if you suck, they'll fire you. I mean, like I just there's NIL is such a mess. We don't really know exactly how it works, and it needs

to be regulated more than it is. There's no perfect solution. But as far as players want to be wanting to be taken care of and paid, the way it's currently going is their best case scenario. Because if they want to be employees again, they're going to be required to do things they're not required to do now they can be fired and again they'll be capped out. I mean, it's just that's and I would be willing to how many players truly would consider that it actually still say yeah, I want to be an

employee. Nick Coffee three pm to six pm on Sports Talk seven ninety will listen for you today, buddy, have a great day. Thanks guys, you got it. I have a great day. Go to lunch at Lots of Pasta. Love the homemade soups and the sandwich is. On a cool day like today, a hot panini for lunch would be awesome. Sit there in the cafe. Went in the other day and it was jam packed,

people having a great time. Lined it at the cash register, lined it at the deli counter, filling up the cafe, or the coffee shop. Now because it's so good. I had somebody tell me yesterday he goes, I had to go over and get one of those cookies because Dave told the

story about putting the cookie on top of the hot soup. Yeah, and he kind of melted it or got it warm a little bit before they got in the car and ate it. Those cookies are amazing, and it's time to go to Lots of Pasta thirty seven seventeen Lexington Road in the heart of Saint Matthew's. Before you check out, that's the bread, that's the bread stack, and the cookies are right there on your left, So just grab whatever you know. Italian bread, delicious for sandwiches, whatever you want to

do, and it's already they're already sliced and baked that day. How many times are you buying bread that is baked a couple of hours ago only at lots of Pasta stop on by Today. Back after this on news radio Way forty WA, Chance
