And then if kids are not allowed, if it's over twenty one and no kids are really huh, yeah, you have a choice to trace. As soon as he said that, I knew exactly what He's right. It's exactly right. All right, Marty, So yesterday it was rough as a Louisville fan, as an Indiana fan to watch it and watch the Big Ten Championship between two great teams, Uh, go

at it Illinois and Wisconsin and went down to the wire. Boy, it was like, what was it, ninety seven to ninety six? Whatever the damn score was. It was fantastic game. But what did you think of the overall selection and where do you think this is going to go for your bracket? Marty book, Well, I think they did as fair as they could. I really feel like Indiana State got jobbed bad. Oh. I

thought so too. I really really deserved to be in there. And I heard you guys talking about a little bit earlier they fled deserved like a seven or an eight, not to be out right, you know, and her Dave mentioned you're about to whatever those Pomroy rakings or whoever does the empire, and then yeah, then whatever, what the hell. I mean, why are we doing it then if we're not gonna pay attention to it? Where because ultimately that's what killed Indiana. And I look, Indiana is not good.

They did not have a good year, but what what And they did play a strong schedule, that's fine, but they got the hell out of it. And there was in all those games, right yeah, you know, you know the only team they played co close was Kansas, uh and then beyond that, you know they played a lot of tough teams this year. They didn't beat any of them, so you know, there's no complaint there. It does, think man, because that that that selection show is

fun. You're in anticipation. You know, you're sitting you find out where you're going, and you charge start to make plans. The second you find out you're going to Birmingham or Pittsburgh or wherever you're going to, You're like, okay, we can do this, we can. Then you start getting reservations. You've seen the show up at places before, so yeah, I probably would have got there if it was Yes, so we're gonna make it. We're gonna make it. But I think that's one of the wives.

And I even more than Bowl games. It was just because there's six or seven teams there and it's just and it's a great, great environment. But Louisville's out again for the fifth or sixth year in a row. Uh. So we our hopes are laid on Morehead State, UH and Western Kentucky. Will talk to Gus about that in the next hour. And uh in Kentucky, Kentucky Uh now once again got a gift, once again, got a

gift once again. You know I was, I said earlier, seem Newton back on the on the committee, uh, because it just seems like gods his soul, him and Bobby were good buddy by the way, him and Knight that fects him was on the Uh. It was on the staff of the Olympic team night Oh yeah, yeah. So anyway, but he was Kentucky gotta give Oakland in the first round, you know, Okay, that was my They was in my conference whenever I was in college. They was

in a Division two school. Okay, it's in Michigan and whatever. I mean that that's that that that could be a one sixteen game. That's nothing. And then in State. I love the way n say State played down the stretch. Obviously, Uh, and you got to pay attention to that that. I don't see them having any problem in Texas Tech. Kentucky's not gonna Kentucky will probably win that game against hen Sea State, but that's not gonna be as easy as people think. And to your point we talked off

the airbout, is Kentucky can give up points. Oh, Kentucky can give up points? Oh and how many terrible teams did they play and give up ninety eight points? Right? Seven? That's why I might be I just found if you answer quick enough, people believe that. Yes, yes, well your your your basketball acumen, I guess would be us ordering a seven and seven. As a matter of fact. Might I might have a number one tequila? They do have number one tequila out here, So, uh,

that's five o'clock somewhere right. Hell, yes, so they'll take look but to get a lot of people are picking them to go to the Final four. I'm like, you know, Houston, they have to get through Houston or a possible Marquett come on, Like, I don't see him either way. I like Marquet against Kentucky in that game, Yes, I do too. I feel like Kentucky is Buyacy State but and and you know,

we talk about spreads all the time on the show. The one thing that you'll see with Kentucky, with Duke, with with these big time teams is spreads aren't necessarily Vegas don't set something to where they think how the game's going to be played. They said, so they can get even money on both sides. You got a Kentucky, They're gonna have a whole hell of a lot of money bet on Kentucky no matter where it is, right right, So you might that'll be a game where that spread will be a lot closer

than what it really should be, is my prediction. I think Marquette could be if everything works out fine, I think Marquette could be a good number there. I do think it's amazing how these handicappers get so damn precise that it's so difficult. It's a little scary, Especially on NFL. It's a little scary. I mean, every once in a while would be a flop. But for the most part, Man and other sorry, even college football games, they it's thirty two to thirty one in a field goal in the

last second, right, they nail the score right on the number. You're like, money is going on how they do it. I follow the NBA a lot, the Pacers a lot. Why and they're scoring fools. I mean they score they're over and unders every game or two hundred and forty, two hundred and fifty, something like that. It's on the number, every number. It's amazing. It's the hell they do that because there's smarter than

me. I promise you that, all right. The biggest question a lot of people ask is will it be chalk or will it be underdogs in like the San Diego States of the world of the Saint Mary's What do you think is? Is North Carolina Yukon Purdue in Houston? Who out of those ones, who is going to be in the final four? The ones I think Yukon Houston will be. That's amazing because Yukon happens to be my favorite women's team because I've always been a fan of Husky women. Lord, we'll talk

about women's basketball at some point today because they did it. Really don't laugh at that. Here's what the people done? That joke? You know, he's done forty times? What is the what's the song? I got jokers to the left of me here, I am stuck in the middle with you. Well, I think for your case, that's here. I am stuck with the fish and IQ. Who you got? Who you got winning at Marty? Yeah? I looked for Tennessee to come out of the Midwest Midwest. Yeah, like Baylor to come out of the West, Yukon, now of the East, Houston, the South. Okakay, that's not a bad idea. I have listen, this gonna get you in a lot of hot water with my wife.

How far do you have Kentucky going? I'm getting beat by mart I heard. I'm worried about her. Anybody that would pay five dollars for a teen is not in a tournament. I don't, I swear to you. I lost it that day we were at beat Uves we used to do the show videows, and I looked over at her bracket and she had scratched someone's name in and put Kentucky and then had them all the way to the national title, turned it in and paid the five dollars, and then I said,

now that's who she scratched sickness. I forgot who did scratch out the something Cardinals and had Kentucky going all the way. But Arkansas. Thank you, Carl, Thank you, car thank you again. Man, it was and they're they're way cooler now than they were now. F one fifty is the greatest pickup truck of all time forty seven years in around forty

seven years, and there's a reason for it. And you've got plenty on the lot today. Yep, we got we got all kinds of them, and right now you've got zero percent for seventy two months on those I think it's fifteen hundred dollars in trade. It says one thousand and fifteen hundred dollars.

That goes on top of whatever your trade is worth. Yeah, you know with the zero percent, if you're working at the plant, you even got a little extra incentive right now, if you're listening to this out there, Uh, there's some some stuff you can call me about anytime and I can go over with you. So but look, I bought a car from you for my daughter and she's running it back and forth from Cincinnati because I needed a better car for her, and you set me up, man, And and that's a literally everybody says the whole same story is like this is this is an old lady's car that drove it to the grocery, into church and back. And that's actually the truth. It's absolutely what this vehicle was.

He was forty miles on twenty fourteen and it looked like a brand new car. It was a new dude. I was like, you were a kid, and he goes, I'm not gonna lie to you. And I was like, well, Marty, you never know, so uh but we bought it. I saw it. I said, Okay, that's it. We bought it. That was it. But I appreciate that one. So we're gonna call you later in the week to give your national champion and you're, uh, in, who's going to get to the National championship game? All

right, we'll keep it a secret until then. One thing, Marty big dufist in Indiana State, did they get jobbed? They got jobbed? Yeah. I mean that's in the greatest story there since Larry Bird. Yes, the greatest story there since Larry Bird. The Power Ranking of twenty seven or twenty eight or whatever it was. It's wrong, it's wrong. I mean, there's all kinds of them. They there's so many teams on here that

they would beat. Now. I know some of them are automatic qualifiers, but it's talking about just the the the last four or wherever that crap is. They talk about or the second to last four or whatever they belong in this tournament. And they belong not even as a twelve seeds or I mean the sixteen or fifteen or whatever they belong in midpack. Well, that will tell you CBS has nothing to do with it, because they would have the CBS would have said, we need to have that guy Yep in the tournament.

So I totally agree with you on that one. All right, man, Marty, we love you, buddy. Yeah, but you're gonna stick around out right around a little bit. It wasn't hard for me at all. This is a great day. No Louisville Cardinal and even a chance to be in it,

obviously, Uh, but I knew that. I am so happy for Western. You all won your conference, and that's the way you got in, right you weren't. There was no way you're getting in with that one in there. They weren't getting in unless they won. That's typically a one big bid league, although that think they got two last year, but you know there's only nine or ten in that conference now, typically one bid.

You gotta win it. You don't want to leave. Look at Indiana State, Adana State twenty nine and they should have got come on, they were ranked earlier in the year. You know, it just goes to show you just just win the conference tournament. Don't worry about it, and don't worry about it. But how happy were you? I saw pictures of you and your son at the championship game. Believe it or not, it's been eleven years since I went to I usually try to go to the championship game.

It's eleven years since my cousin Kletus evans that you all, yes, toys for times. That's right. We took off and went to Little Rock and went to a game down there. Made that trip and back in less than twenty four hours. Eleven years ago. Well, I thought i'd go again, never win again. And they haven't been back. It's the longest drout Western's had and I don't know ever they usually go over four or five years. Yes, I'm like, hey, we got to go to Huntsville.

Yes, easy trip, Yes, get in the car and it's not too bad. It's not too bad to drive. No, gosh, I hope it didn't affect your sleep. No, none at all, not at all. That's a big aerospace engineering area, park area. Nice city you ever get, That's a great place to go. Visit clean. Now, this is the first time I think you've ever admitted on the radio that Cletus was your cousin. Well, you know, I try to keep that under wraps, but I think the smoke from the hog is probably affecting it. Okay,

So who who does Western have in the first round Marquettes? Oh dude, and they got their point guard back. Yeah they do. Oh boy, that guy is second in the country and assists and he set out the conference tournament. So I was hoping it wasn't back Tony. I was really harry that he's back the holding me out because they didn't care about the conference tournament. Obviously they didn't because they got they gotta be pretty good. Then they get me pretty Yeah. No, they they barely lost, but they

played without their best players. Beat them. They're a good team. Went in your bracket, Western Kentucky will win it off. I always you know, right, your wife and I were right there with it. Look, okay, let me ask you seriously. My wife would always fill out two brackets, and she will this year to one. Just two, I'll fill out three or four. Give me three or four, because you know you

got it. You can't pick against your team, right, if you're a Kentucky or a Louisville, Indiana fan, you gotta put them all the way through because you gotta have some faith. No, not me, not me. Well, I haven't had my team say you're kind of how many years now is you have not been in the tournament? Five? So it was first unheard of Chris Mack's first year. No, so Chris Max's first year they lost in Minnesota, correct, So then he had three more years and

he was gone. And then Kenny Paynes two years, So that's five and they didn't go his second year because that was COVID year. Yes, and uh and then and they went almost roaded. No, that team was loaded. I want to rewind because look, not only the program director, but before we were program director obviously with the company. But I remember one of the most chilling things is when Tony I were on the air and it was when the n C doua A tournament day one, when they were starting.

We went to you and the guys come back to me. We came back to you tournament, Yeah, a tournament, and and you held the microphone out as they announced that they were canceling the tournament. That was that was the beginning of everything shutting down a car but yeah, that was the last day we were on the air. It was so chilling. Oh yeah, maybe left by the way. We left the studio and went home and then

we got email, don't return to your office. I'm like, what my weeds and the I mean, I've got I've got things in my office. What did you say? I'm sorry I didn't hear that that. Yeah, we don't have, But how chilling was it to stand there and hear that? That was I forget that? That is a That was weird. It

is the oddest thing. I remember. It was at the Greensboro Colisseums, where they always held the tournament, and the night before I had gone back to the hotel and I'm just sitting there watching something or maybe it's the next night, and Paul Rodgers said, hey, you want to go get something eat? He goes, what are you doing? I go, I'm just sitting here watching the world come to an end because they're talking about we're closing Broadway. Yeah, the NBA canceled the game. That's what started it.

That's right, That's exactly right. Because the guy got COVID, he got called the NBA said Paul's all games. And I'll remember this very well.

The night before we were still playing a game, and I was just kind of looking around and I don't think Louisville didn't even play until the next day and Nick Coffee was behind me and I turned around to look at it is, and Nick was looking at his phone and he's just going with his mouth wide open like some he'd gotten some news that shocked the lights out of it. And that was when Tom Hanks had gotten COVID that was announced, and

it was at that time we didn't know. Everybody thought it's a death sentence, which it wasn't. It was just you know. Well, then the next day, that morning we started getting word that they're they're maybe going to cancel the tournament. I said, you can't do that, that's what we thought, and we walked in there and then yeah, we're gonna In fact, they were within ten minutes. The cheerleaders were out there, everybody was out. It was like a regular game. They were still ready to do

the game. And we're like, oh, look we're gonna play this. We're not canceling this. They walk out on the floor and the commissioner's out there and goes, circumstances be on our control. And the real that the ambiance and Rudy Goldbert was that that was the NBA game or NBA player that got it all right, So you held the mic out and it was echoing like a movie, and he said, doing under church and chances we were canceling and it was so surreal. I'll never forget it as long as I

can. You can hear a pin drop, Yes, you can hear a pin drop. And then everyone went home. And here's the odd part. They were telling us not to, you know, get around people, actually older people. So here's this older ACC commissioner. I'm going to present this trophy to you. And what is it? They're all gathered around him. They gave it to, uh, Florida State. Florida State won the regular season. Yes, said, that's the way we're gonna it was their best

chance to win international title. And they gave it to Florida State. That's exactly right. And when we were done, I went and walked around. We're sure you were getting home? Yeah, we had to stay because nobody had travel arrangment. That's right, Yeah, yeah, right, right, So you came back the next day. We just kind of had to keep waiting. I remember sitting in the hotel that night. Ye down there with Chris. We're going to be stuck here. We're trying to talk about Jay

Billis and uh dan uh I can't Shulman. They came in. We're saying, hey, guys, I guess you got a little time off. They're like, man, this is just weird. Hey, I gotta tell you what followed was the dumbest next four months of my life. I said, when that happened, the masks and the yes, and I'll tell you what really pissed me off. It is shortly because that's started. Look, it started with the turn of it. That was a domino effect of casting everything

of this. And I remember the Rolling Stones were set to play Papa John's Cardinal Stadium at UH in June and they can't and they can't and they can't it. What do you just give us some time? Then we are doing and everybody they people bailed on that, and I remember being in the office and because we got back and then like you said, it was we've got everybody has to get out. That was the rule for everybody, And I go, this won't last but two weeks. And my theory was in two

weeks, everybody will be in their house flatten. They're gonna be wanting to beat each other because they can't deal with everybody on being on top of one another and it lasted. We were wiping down our Kroger bags when they got a hole. I know we were individually with wipes on the bags before. So listen, man, I would spray Susan down head to toe with special Lady Freako Germany. I'm like, hey, you want to have special Lady

time. I saw your ass before we do anything. But I'll tell you another creepy thing about that was when we finally dig it back in the office, going back into our individual offices, seeing the calendar from that same day, seeing the paperwork from a year and a half, damn near two years ago, it was like chernobyl. It was just caught in time. It was. It was so bizarre. Okay, so where where is the Western Kentucky game against Indianapolis on Friday? I will Belisay night to all of my

employees and other people. I will not be answering the phone at that time. That is on Friday, Okay, Friday, easy trip. It's also where is playing? But what time was Kentucky playing? Are we going to be preempted on full level of foolishness? We got some guests here, all right, gus Man, we'll have you on again a little bit later.
