Is it really possible to smell a Bream Bed?

First of all, I didn't know that that "Bream" is the correct spelling.  I always thought it was Brim and not Bream.  Goes to show what I don't know, which is quite a lot.

According to Nick Giles, Jimmy (James-T) Smith got a scent of a Bream Bed while tracking across Lake George one day.  A trip with Daddy, Nick and Mr. Jimmy that I wished I would have been on.  Anyway, Nick says, James-T hallowed to stop the boat, and turn around and backtrack a bit.  Told Nick to take the helm and go real slow.  And while doing so, Mr. Jimmy stood up on the bow and was cupping his hands of air just above the water's surface, then gave to the order to stop and drop anchor.  He said, fella's right here is a Bream Bed.

Great story by Nick and I sure wish I could have been with them.
