Want to know God? Religion can't help you.
Nothing wrong with religion per se. It just can't complete us or make us whole. A relationship with God can.
Jesus was not "religious" (in the way that we think of it) — he was hated & killed by the so-called "religious leaders" of his time! He called them out on their hypocrisy. Ouch...
All religious denominations are man-made, hence there are THOUSANDS of them. They give us a false sense of knowing God. Religion focuses more on human interpretation & is often works-focused to honor God, but the only way to really KNOW God is to open our hearts and let him transform us through a relationship with Him.
How can our little human brains contain the Create of the Universe, the God Almighty, the King of Kings? It can't...
This isn't a good enough reason not to SEEK to know. The Bible speaks for itself. Build a relationship with God and ask his Spirit to reveal all truth to you.
"Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” -James 1:26-27
