Episode description

"The Last Scene" will be the FIRST comprehensive chronicle of what many believe is the LAST underground, DIY music scene. One forged in VFW halls and community recreation centers across the United States in the late 1990s/Early 2000s.

This is the story of the punk and emo kids who gave us the last "new" thing in rock music, during an era of change for the music industry and youth culture at large.

Kyle Kilday's objective is to make a feature-length doc that covers about a 10-year period and I envision the narrative being organized chronologically into 3 distinct time-periods: 1997 - 2000 2001 - 2004 2005 - 2007 (with a "Where Are They Now," "What's It All Mean" coda...)

I got Kyle on the phone and this is what we talk about"

  • Getting into music because of piano
  • The band Drexel
  • Jimmy Eat World’s album Clarity
  • Fred from Taking Back Sunday
  • How he’s setting up the interviews
  • The Kickstarter
  • Dealing with music licensing
  • And a ton more
