Episode description

One of the main concerns that people new to ketogenic diets is cholesterol. For over 60 years, we have been told that cholesterol was the main cause of heart disease and people interested in the benefits of a keto diet can't ignore the elephant in the room while trying to justify eating a diet based on larger amounts of fat. These seemingly opposite positions create a lot of confusion understandably. What's also fascinating is the fact that not everyone who starts ketogenic diet has the same results when it comes to cholesterol.

To discuss this complicated issue and their groundbreaking research, we invited Dave Feldman and Nick Norwitz to the show. Dave is the founder of The Cholesterol Code and he teamed up with Nick to create The Lipid Energy Model (LEM) which examines the phenomenon of rising cholesterol levels for those on low carbohydrate diets and how this may provide powerful insights into lipid metabolism overall.
