The Nares Strait is the body of water that separates the north east edge of Canada and the north west edge of Greenland. Both Denmark, for whom Greenland is an autonomous territory, and Canada claim the island as their own. The theoretical line that marks the boundary of the territorial waters of those two countries runs right through Hans Island. This has resulted in one of history’s friendliest wars...
