I'm like I just got I had to First of all, I pulled up and I was talking to EU straight. I pulled up like I was putting this, pulling up the country club like I'm about to park the country club. I pulled up like, hey, you need to go to Wayne State University and then catch the shuttle to come back.

And I'm like and just pulled out in front of the golf club, thinking for eg a golf event. He's just gonna pull up in like the dry through area and clubs. Yeah, yeah, yeah, drop baby, And I'm like, I'm like, you know what, I'm about to pull up. I'm about to pull his truck up, put up up on the curb on the grass. But then I started seeing some boots on some cars. I was like, no, no, no, I'm about to go ahead, go du Wayne State. So and I told hey, I'm just

I'm just getting on the bus. Get there. And I was like, hey, I'm on the fifteenth hole. Come in, come on, come to come to the cabana. The cabana. So I'm walking that way and I tis you No, he comes around the corner and it's like in too fashion, I go, I go, I see you with that floral and he's I saw. I was like he would he would absolutely where what he wore today. But there it is da there it is man picture to too

man. But no, it was a great man. Listen Marking mortgage is obviously one of our partners and they man, they do an outstanding job. Man. We met some of we met some of some of loves local guys who just wanted to obviously meet with It looks like you guys are having a good time out there. That look, that's that right there is because we were talking to loud. So everyone's on the green and all the guys in the red shirts are like quiet please, and so we chose. So this

is what happened, right, This is this is what happened. We're in a cabana right in front of the fifteenth Green. These guys are playing for months, you know, like their livelihood is on the line, and here's Otis yelling and then okay, okay, sotis otis otis yes or no, Yes or no? Get the guy that now, look, did he not make eye contact with you yes or no? To tell you to come sunglasses on? But I will make eye contact with him, and then I will

put it up because people are talking around me. When I put my hands up, people were starting before before did he not make eye contact with you, like, hey, doc, you're gonna need to kill it? Was? Yes? One time? Absolutely? Okay, your honor the defense rests. I was like, I'm just happy to be here. I'm just happy to be here. Man. I was out here and mingling with people, having people. If you win this tournament, you get one point five million

dollars. And here Otis is yapping it up on the that, you know, like just the guy hits a shot and he's watching what's happening, you know, and like Joe looks ats like, hey, bro, we're gonna a little bit straight straight He's like, he's like and then so it became a fun thing, you know, going back and forth and everything like that. And we took a picture with him with all our hands up, and Joe was ended up being a really cool dude. Is that right? First

of all, he just like somebody was under the bus. And then yeah, he flipped the script on me because he was the one talking loud too. And then he goes, absolutely, I got caught. He was like, yeah, you were, you were talking a little bit loud. He got caught. Like he just said, you telling me about you. I think everybody knows about you. About this man, I'm like said, he just said, as soon as I got caught, Yeah, I did not get caught. It's all good. AnyWho. We had a good any who,

man, we did have a good time. We had a really good time. You guys looked like you had a great time there. You guys go you know, it looks like a lot of smiles. Yeah, man, you know times out there it was a look if you do that crazy you know Canada fire smoke. Uh. It was. It was a great

time, man, it was. It was you know, you get a deeper appreciation for obviously the golf you know game and like it's a it's a high pressure like event, you know what I mean from a standpoint of there's a lot of people looking at you swinging and you already know like obviously you want to be a perfect shot every time, and then it's just pressure in an amount of times you want to make that cut. You know. I

was more enamored about like how the whole operation was being ran. But the best part is, like you there's a lot of Michigan State people, you know when you walk in saying go green, go white, and you're talking with people. You know, it was just very like very good event. Man. So kudos to Rocky Mortgage is one of our partners to inviting us out there, and I know we were at Trying Solutions as one of our partners, So it was good to be out there hanging out, you know,

seeing some good golf. Well good stuff. Man. Let's let's go on to some some other Michigan state news. When you see the Red Wings have now drafted Michigan State goalie Trey Augustine in the second round of the n h L draft, that's another you know, Steve Eiserman, he's building this Red Wings team and he talked about it going you know, he said,

we're gonna build through the draft. And I actually talked to someone, Frank Souris, he has another podcast out there called Champagne Athletics, and he I said, at what point is enough enough? You know, like, as Red Wings fans, do you be like, hey, we want to you know, win, and we want to win now. But he's like, you know, I give it another two years. Because Steve Eiserman, you know, he's he was a captain here in Detroit, he won some titles

in Detroit. He knows what he's doing. He's building this organization and he said it outright, He's going to build through the draft and then having a guy from Michigan State. We know what Michigan State goalies can do. You know, you're going to look at a guy like Ryan Miller, you got Jeff Lurgh, you know, all those guys that played goalie at Michigan State and went on to have some successful careers in the NHL. So, you know, congratulations to Trey for being you know, you know, drafted by

the Red Wings and you know, drafted in the second round. I mean, it's phenom noticed. I mean like this, look, I know that you talk to a lot of people on campus about what's going on in the athletic department on a daily basis. What is the feeling about Trey Augustine and what this means for the program as they had a phenomenal season last year. Yeah, I think that's a true testament to coach Nightingale and what he did

in the short time that he's had the program back. You know, we everyone you know a year in being your you know, as a leader. As for our coach, you know's it was shocking from a standpoint of like how quickly the success we had, but the amount of recruiting and the amount of you know, evaluation coming from bringing in some top talent. It's a true testament to you know, we have some some some guys that came in.

Now you know, Trey was a transfer and so like it was, you know, this is one of those positive transfer portal guys, right, Like you know, the portal helps in every sport. But you know, from a standpoint Coach Gale and the staff he put together and the development that he's put for our guys to be prepared for the next level, true testament to the program. Is exciting to to kind of get back into that swing of our guys being in NHL from college to to to pro. Gotta love

it. I mean, look, it's always good to see, you know, misign state athletes excelling in anything. And anytime you see somebody's name get called and in a professional draft, that's a great thing. So definitely spartan dog for life, that's what that guy is. We'll talk about that another day. Guys, we have to bring this up. I will be remiss if we didn't do this. We love you know, Malik Carr Peggy,

you know, like doctor Peggy and what had occurred a day ago. Jeremiah Beasley, this is Malik's brother, has committed to the University of Michigan. Let's discuss this and then talk about like our feelings and like what do you think about this, gentlemen. He's four star linebacker out of Belleville. Uh. It blew up the internet yesterday. So let's talk about Jeremiah committed to

the University of Michigan. I'm torn, man, I'm torn. It's one of those things like family affair where you know, if he chooses Michigan, it's like to your point where you talked about this behind the curtain here. Now it's like they're trying to like, you know, not stablished, but like they're they're they're they're putting us in a situation of like they know what

they did right. Like it's one of those things of we have an in state talent and you know, a brother of like it's it's just it's hot right now, and I don't even know my clear thoughts on it because like in the family, like how is it going right, Like it's a situation where you know, yeah, now you've got a really house divided in you know, from a standards now it's going to be a true like rival.

You know, it's tough man, because like, especially what happened last season, right, like what happened last season, and I don't bring up past bad news, but what happened last season at the Big House. Then coming over to here, it's like, obviously he's a top talent, so why

haven't we stepped up to get him in the door? And I know our linebacker room is full filled and packed, and we may have eyes on certain other guys, but from an in state talent standpoint, this is a guy that you really wanted to secure, like you wanted to get a commitment and bring into the house of Michigan State. And obviously he's going back to the team down the road. So any I mean, you celebrate it clearly because he's committed and that's an opportunity for him to go play at the next level.

But it hurts a little bit because it is a family affair and you thought we would, you know, be more motivated to get him secured. That's all I could say to you. Put turn that frown upside down, put that dome and gloom away. He's not gonna go play at University of Michigan. This is a thing. It's a knee jerk reaction. We're all in our fields right now. He committed to Michigan and everything like, he's

not gonna go play there. Michigan fans are in the dms, in the tweets, in the igs, in the facebooks, in the tiktoks, whatever social media is there is nowadays that oh, you know, your brother goes to Michigan State and he won't even go there. He's coming to us. He's not going to University of Michigan. It's like, relax, people, or relax. He still has time and it's gonna hurt a lot more when he changes his commitment back to Michigan State, you know when it comes signing

day. So just everyone needs to relax right now. He's not going to University of Michigan. He committed there right now. Knee jerk reaction and everything like that. He's saying this, You're saying this was so much confidence to like, what makes you think that his commitment it doesn't mean anything because revenge is a meal best served cold. Listen man, oh man, I just want to I don't want to get in the debate because what's today's day,

what's to's day? He still he still needs to sign right June twenty ninth, twenty twenty three, when we play this back in February on signing day, and this kid flips his commitment because he sees the body of work of the Spartans this season. His brother gets in his ear, his mom Dukes gets in his ear, We see that body of work that comes on after the on field play and everything like that. And this kid flips his commitment and say, hey, you know what, I'm going to East Lanson.

I'm going to Michigan State. It's gonna shot those uf M people up. And it's gonna, like I said, it's gonna hurt them more than it's hurting us right now, So everyone needs to calm down a little bit. We still have time. Who's gonna get in his ear? Mom Dukes? And who brother? His brother? What about Ben? It's fine, we'll be all right, We'll be all right. Okay, listen, shoo Shoe has sources you know too. I mean, that's a very bold statement right

there. Say it ain't happen. It's twenty nine, twenty twenty three, Officers Agent and thirty. Listen, listen, listen, what what you know? Notice? Listen? I just want to revert back to the Killer Bees. Just I just want to revert back because you were so confident then, and I understand it. It ain't gonna it's nothing. It's nothing, solid concrete until you sign thenother line. I get it. Maybe he's using it as clout to get more in like a state competition. I get it.

But you go back to back CNP like and you are committed to that program. I think it's very solid. And that's just me saying that it's a very solid commitment. And it's up to us now to go into the drawing board and truly see like the value in what he brings to us and fits into our program. So I think it's gonna be still a battle in competition, but I think it's a solid commitment. We gotta do with a cigarette, like like what the pulse of the team is, and like how guys

are currently feeling about something like this. It's a lot more. You know, we have a special guest. Everybody knows that we got a special guest coming up soon. Man, this is one of those guys that don't have their hands in a dirt, like guys like me and Chu Chuo. Old us never had his head of dirt either, but anyway we're gonna have I never had my hand in the dirt the wisp bone. After this message from

my friends and I'll kick off. I was eye hoppy hour starting at six dollars at three p m. Only for my home downloaded and join the rewards program today. Well, guys, without further ado, we have to welcome a quarterback, our quarterback, Spartan dog Katon Houser joins. This is Sparta m s U. Welcome to the show. How you doing, kayten doing? Good man? Thank you for having me. I appreciate it, oh man, thank you for being here. I gotta say when you when you

when you choose ready for you. He loves quarterbacks. When you when you paint the mold of a quarter if you say, hey, draw me what a quarterback looks like? Is this guy here? You got the hair the backwards, having the hairlone af like all American boy look and everything like that. You know, I appreciate you, you know quick none and not you know making it. Thank you for joining us here. Yeah, of course,

thank you for having me. I appreciate it. So you were just out on the golf course today, Olgus and I we were on the golf course to that we didn't play you played? What did you shoot today? I didn't really keep scoring. We uh we did like whole score, so if we won the whole we just get the point or whatever. If I were to guess, I'd probably say I was like ten over maybe thre eighteen. So okay, okay, you're the eighties, your low eighties guy.

Yeah, you super playing golf for six months and your low eighties guy. Yeah, yeah, I'm pretty good today. I'm usually like eighty five to ninety range. So okay, okay, look, I feel like we're gon. We got to put that to two tests, right, absolutely, absolutely absolutely? Who did you go for? Scrambled partner Jake riland the quarterback assistant coach and then we played against the other qbs and stuff, so it was like a little event. It was nice who is terrible in that? Who's

the worst golfer out of all? Like, I mean, I ain't your own plast, but you know, I don't want to shout out anybody out, but we have a we have a we have a quarterback like assistant Quinn Stoleman. I mean he just he had a rough day today. I mean yeah, it was a good time. It was a good time. Of course, what course you're going were you playing Jackson? You played at I

think it was called a Rone golf club for sure, Jackson. All right, yeah, very nice man, Okay, talk about like okay, so you you were originally from California, sir, When did you get your love for the game of football? Well, actually, I grew up in Vegas, so I grew most of my Vegas. My dad played football, he played at utep D tackle, So I grew up loving football playing football.

So I started when I was like five or six, and I played a bunch of sports growing up, but I just knew that football was going to be the sport for me, and it kind of stuck with me throughout. When I got to high school, I was like, yeah, this is what I want to focus on. I feel like I have a future in and over time I started playing quarterback and I just fell in love with the game and it all kind of worked out. So I don't know if I

lost you guys, are you good? So when you started, when you started out as a young young jit, we talked like the same Jit, what other positions did you play? Because like, yeah, you probably started evolving quarterback. What other positions do you play? Like Pop Warner little League, I played everything. I played a running back, player, receiver, and I played a little bit defense, dive. I played a little linebacker. I love playing linebacker. Loved him, so yeah, I'll played that

younger. Yeah, I mean, man, look, I don't know if we lost. Did we lose? Oh? I was like I thought she was free pros. You know, people are sending me questions to my tax for houser here and I'm just trying to, you know, scroll through see which one I like, which one I might ask which one? You know, I want to make you do it in the live chat too, Yeah right, obviously we talked about you from California or originally from Vegas, but

California, California. Way coming to Michigan State, right, Like you could have went anywhere school wise, Like there's other schools that are out there that you could have went to. But you know what truly kind of drawn you, drew you to Michigan State. And uh, you know how has East Lansing, Michigan treated you since you've been on campus? Man, it was a crazy kind of turn of events. I mean, I was committed to Boise State. I committed there without seeing it is during COVID and everything.

It was. It was tough, and that I expect is trying to find the right school and trying to commit early. And then as of late, like Michigan State hit me up and started recruiting me. And I talked to Tucker a little bit, talk to Jay Johnson, and they were showing me a lot of interest, and I was like, I want to go see it. I want to go see what Big ten football is like. I want to see what the Midwest is like. So I took an ov I'm pretty sure it was in July, and I went up and I looked at

the campus. I looked around, saw the facility, saw just saw the vibe from the team and the coaches staff, and I saw the opportunity for me to step in and be developed and be the best quarterback I can be at the school. So with that, everything that went into that, I just it felt right for me. So I made that move. I committed,

and since then, I mean, I love it up here. I mean I didn't think that from being from West Coast southern California going to the Midwest, how that would how that transition would affect me and how I enjoy But so far it's been great. I love it up here, and I found some really good friends on the team and stuff like that, and I'm really enjoying just like the team and going around campus and East Lanting itself is it's a great place to be. So I'm I'm really happy right now.

Yeah, so you said you committed to Boise. What was it about Boise that attracted you to There is the blue Field? Uh No, it was it just felt like the right place. I like the coaches there. I felt like I could have been developed there too, But I wanted to play in big time football. I want to play in big games. I want to play with a bunch of fans in the stands. So I thought Michigan State is a perfect place for that. Okay and uh okay. So the

big thing is this the elephant in the room. All right, let's let's let's get down to brass tasks and everything like that. Peyton Thorne was the start two year starter. He transferred out of there. Noah, Kim, It's a guy who had a really good spring. You know, has a big arm as fast elusive has made place. So now there's there isn't really there has not been announced who the starting quarterback is going to the season. It's gonna come down to camp. It's going to be, you know,

the quarterback battle between you and Kim. You know, at the end of the day, you both are going to push each other to make each other better. You know. That's that's what Spartan dogs do. You know, So like, what do you bring to the table? What what about your game that you bring to the table that you know you can help you know, the Spartans, you know, go in the right direction. I feel like in my game, I just feel I feel like I bring a lot

of juice to the team. I feel like I'm I'm stepping in as a leader. I'm trying to be a guy that can just lead this team and taking to a good place, Big ten championships, all that kind of stuff. So as far as my game, I feel like there's understanding the offense and developing and growing. I feel like it's something that I'm trying to work on right now now. But I'm just looking forward to the summer and fall camp and just trying to adjust and learn and keep growing as much as I

can, Okay. So when when you think about what it takes to be a leader now that you've been in you know, big time college football for a couple of years now, when you look at the quarterback position as you happen to play obviously, what does it take to really gain the respect of a locker room? Because I mean everyone looks to a quarterback. So what do you think it takes. What's the marxi you have to have? I

feel like the biggest thing is just setting an example. I feel like showing up early to meeting, showing up early to lifts, just working your butt off, like and workouts and stuff like that, and showing guys that you really care about the team and you really want to push yourself as something that can get guys around behind you and really trust you. And I feel like I've done a really good job of that my freshman year and even into the

spring ball and a little bit in summer. I feel like I've done a real good job of that. Yeah, a lot of people, I mean I want to know, is you know, from coming from high school, coming to here and then Coach Johnson developing you, Like, what have you done since high school to kind of prepare you for it if you were to like win the job or could you know as an open quarterback competition, but

like what has prepared you with coach Josh's toolage, tuolage in training? What have you developed and the ways your growth from you know when you stepped on the campus. My growth is it's it's really exponential. I feel like I've really made strides in the film and I feel like the mental aspect of my

game has really improved. He's meeting with him even like one on one stuff, just going through film and his review and everything and finding little things in my game I need to work on and improve, and then just going through that every single day and every single week. I feel like it's just it just keep stacking. I feel like I just keep getting better as far as just like mental side, just trying to understand defense a little bit more and

just try to keep expanding my game in that aspect. I feel like it's really paid off so far. What do you think what are the strengths of your game? Kayden? A couple of strengths. I feel like I can I can read a defense really well. I feel like I can find the keys and the different leverages and stuff and different defense looks. If I can command the offense really well as far as like ball and stuff, I feel

like I'm really accurate. I feel like I can put the ball anywhere on the field, and I feel like I have a huge arm I can I can launch it downfield if I need to. So I feel like all those aspects are part of my game for sure, Kat, And who do you model your game? After talking about the NFL quarterbacks that are you know everybody looks at. Obviously big one is Tom Brady. For me, just growing up watching him, just seeing all the successes had is something you want to

emulate as a young kid. For sure. I got a couple kind of I wouldn't say like comparisons, but a lot of people compare me to like Justin Herbert. It's like a couple of guys on the team Sam Justin Herbert. So I mean, yeah, growing up, So I mean watching him and seeing just how how big his arm is and just the way he can fit the ball is something I try to implement in my game. He's a really good player, so so you know, being a defensive guy and then

obviously these guys are on the offensive side. Everyone knows that guys that are, like, you know, behind the starting QB are really the signal callers, right Like you're you're knowing the playbook better than most and like the starter quarterback starting quarterback. But you know what about our playbook and you don't got

to give any trade secrets. But what's what's what's very like attractive to our playbook that we're able to go ahead and be like, we're gonna have some full confidence coming into next season knowing that we got kind of two fresh guys in the quarterback position that's going to take the field. I feel like in our playbook, I feel like we have it all. I feel like we

can we can use our athletes the best as possible. I feel like that there's a bunch of different plays and different schemes and different motions and stuff that we can do to get guys open and use every player we can on the field. So I'm really confident that we can use our backs, our tight ends, our receivers, we can get anyone the ball with these. So I feel like that's something I really enjoy and I feel like that we can keep going on and doing as we go into next season. Absolutely. Yeah.

So all right, so last year was a disappointing season. We everybody on this call, on this video right now will admit to that. You know, that was a disappointing season. The year previous to that that, you know that was a breakout season. It was the season that I don't think a lot of people anticipated and expected. You know, so, how can we move Like, what was the difference from the Peach Bowl year to this past season not making a bull game? And what can we anticipate,

you know, in this year coming up for the team? That's all. Yeah, I feel like the biggest thing is from the Peace Bowl of victory and then this past year. I feel like we had a bunch of high expectations going into that season and we just didn't execute the way we wanted to. We had a couple of close games we didn't end up winning, and it was just it just got on to a bad start and it was just tough. I feel like going to this season, we have a lot more

depth as far as that, like all positions and stuff like that. I feel like there's like a different energy in the building. I feel like we have a chip on our shoulder going into this season. Compared to the after the Peach Bowl. Like, we have this mentality where people are doubting us and they're they're saying all these types of things on social media and stuff like that. But I feel like we have a chip on our shoulder and we're

just gonna go prove everybody wrong. So there's a different vibe in the in the facility and I really, I really have a good energy and good feel for the season. So yeah, Ka, you're around the team all the time right now doing the off season workouts and stuff like, is there a person, is there a player? I'll be outside of the quarterback room. Let's say that you and your opinion says like this guy is gonna have a breakout season. Hm hmm, I probably say. I probably say Nate Carter.

We just got a running back. Trans Is he reading the comments? Because I feel like the man's speaking thoughts. Go ahead, look like the late Carter. This guy, this guy comes in every day, shows up early, and he just dominates every every lift, every run. He just is on top of everything. He does everything perfectly. So and we see some glimpse of him and like even in like spring practice and stuff like that, like not even full speed. Just how he moves and how he sees

things. Is this really impressive? And I feel like this is a guy that's gonna it's gonna step up this year. So I'm really excited for his future and what he can do. It's I'm like, I'm not a hater, but like you, you did say, he did say that Nate will be the guy. And he's there on the same town. You know,

it's New York. You know the card. It's ridiculous. You get the whole stadium singing that you gotta get some houser noise going on, man, Kaden like, man like, look you you are a guy who played UH in one of the toughest leagues if you want to say, in the in the country, the Trinity League out in UH Southern California, Saint John Bosco. Look, man, would they win the national championship last year? It?

Okay, yeah, And there's been a laundry list of quarterbacks that come out of there, Like, how do you think that your time in high school has prepared you for the task you have right now and being a power five starting quarterback. I feel like it's prepared me in the sense that there's

been a lot of high pressure games. Like there's a lot of people in the stands, especially in high school level, playing Modern Day playing survey, playing those types of schools once or twice a year, playing out of state, just those high pressure games, a lot of fans in the stands. I feel like it's really prepared me to win these tough games. Like I've I've played these tough games and it's been close, and I've won time i lost them. But I know what it feels like to play in tough games

and really battle it out. So I feel like that's something that's really prepared me in the high school level that that will translate to college for sure. Good. Like I'm all about like I want to know, like just the mind of the quarterback here. I just want to know, like fully when you're out there dissecting those defense. But you said, is your strength is

dissecting and breaking down the defense. You know, based off of when you were watching what transpired last season, you know, what what were things that you felt like could have been done or that you were seeing that we may have been missing or that we weren't capitalizing on. Like just talk bring spartanation into the photo of a quarterback's mind of things that we could have done better that you're going to probably expect for this season coming up. Yeah, that's

that's tough. I feel like there's there's a lot of things that went into it. I feel like execution was the biggest thing. I feel like we were doing the right things. It's just it wasn't like the perfect, like the way we wanted it. I felt like in certain certain plays and certain aspects, and I feel like just the time I mean in the chemistry of

the team like wasn't all the way there. I feel like this year, the chemistry and stuff throughout the whole team, I feel like it's gonna it's gonna improve and we get that chemistry and that timing down with the whole team. I feel like it's gonna improve. And the plays and stuff that's that's it's all good, like running the right stuff. It's just we just got to get the time in the chemistry with the team down. I feel like

that's what we're working on this year for sure. Absolutely, because I got a lot more questions, but I like to get I like to share the question. Well, you know what you're trying to say, you know what I'm trying to say. They like to think that I always ask all the questions and everything like that. They like to think, don't let the smooth taste. It's not a conspiracy, right right, that's the question. Listen, Like you're two minute drill right two minutes games online and we're playing that

team down a row, and you know exactly what happened last year? Yeah, what what are the what are the go two calls, pass plays, et cetera? Like that you visioned yourself if you put your put you into that mode of a two minute drill, you know, how are you attacking that and approaching that to win the game for Michigan State. I like to play aggressive. I like to go right out of them. So I play I go like four verts, try to stretch them, do some drives,

some little mess things, just try to get pick routes going. But I feel like the biggest thing is in games like that, like it comes down to matchups. Who's gonna win for you? Finding guys that are gonna step up and make plays for you, Like that's the biggest thing in tough games like that. So just getting guys opportunities to go one on one is something that I feel like is huge in those types of games. Absolutely. So let let's let's talk a little bit about this, Katon. You know,

you're playing in the Big Ten Conference. Now you're here and you know at in these lands and of Michigan State and twenty twenty four next year, the Big Ten's expand and everything like that, and uh, the opportunity to go back to your home state and play you know, U C, L a

USC and everything like that, Like what does that mean to you? And what does that mean for kids that are in California, you know, who probably would not have chosen, you know, a team out in the Midwest or on the East coast to play, but now that they're in the Big Ten Conference and you know that you're gonna be able to go home and play in your home state, what does that mean? It means a lot for

me. I mean, I haven't really thought about it a much because I'm just trying to focus on this year, but just thinking ahead and something like that, it's really exciting because being having the opportunity to go home and play in like my home state and stuff. Is this It's really exciting and something that I really wanted to do, but as far as that, I feel like it's gonna help recruiting. I feel like it's gonna help our team a lot. More so, I feel like it's really exciting and I can't wait

to get an opportunity to go play down there for sure. Look, Kate, there's a couple of questions that have come up in the chat. Who is one player you not like throwing that so far on our defense this year? I got on our Uh, Jacoby Winman. He plays, He plays the end. They put him out linebacker. He'll try to like duck under

and try to disguise like he's rushing. They will pop up and he'll try to throw a ball and he's just all of a sudden there and he makes a play and it's like, oh my goodness, Like how do you make that play? It's Yeah, he's a tough player to go against, and you always have to keep an eye on him. He's like in the corner your aisle at all times, just trying to find out where he's at because he's he's a monster on defense. So I'd say number four. Wow,

Okay, there's one more. What wide receiver do you have the most chemistry with? He's stepping up in that receiver room. This is a good question. I feel like there's a couple of guys I could say, but in my class, I probably say drum Glover. I feel like it's always always getting to team reps stuff with him. I feel I'm always connecting with him. So I feel like that's a guy that's really stepping up and he's gonna he's gonna be good. He just gotta keep working. Uh, just keep

his set downs, keep working. So I feel like he's gonna be a good player. Okay, mm hmm. What else what I'm like, man, I'm like, okay, this is this is a Sparta family. They're asking some good questions here. I want to know what's happening in the chat here. Yeah, so what what is what is the like home run past route for you? Like you know, for a fact, like and I'm not well, I'm not giving away Tracy. I'm just saying, like I asked when well, we had Kean and we had other people on what's your

favorite rite? You guys are you can't ask not because no, no, no no no. Now you want this man to give a what give tip off his hand? Like you want hurt go to like, no, don't answer that question, don't you to? Scar Man Can like what the hell? Kayden? So, so what how do you think this summer has been going as far as either preparation. You got a lot of teammates. You know, we've been hearing about this past year's construction affecting how the team has

been able to interact together. And I know that things are, you know, getting to a point where they're gonna have the locker room ready. That's the goal right by by season start, is there has there been improvement as far as you guys getting together on a daily or weekly basis as a team one hundred percent. I feel like there's I mean the weight room and stuff

and having the construction. It is what it is. But I feel like last year compared to this year, it's it's night and day just with we're taking real effort and taking like real time to like try to connect with the team. So like, for example, like we had like a little bowling thing. We divided the whole offense and we we went out in like bowld for like an hour and a half or two hours, and it was just good to like connect with guys. And now we're like We're gonna go do

mini golf next week. Like we're trying to find ways to to connect with our team and to get good chemistry. And I feel like it's working. I feel like we're going out and having a good time. Like the other day I played, we played kickball, like just the offensive defense. We just went out and we had teams. We played kickball on the fields like it was just it was like we're little kids like in on the playground.

It was it was awesome. It's just connected with guys and and going through different things other than football and working out, like doing other things with guys on the team. It's just it's really paying off right now. I mean, we have people are really good. There's really good energy in the building right now. So shoot, do you remember when where do we would play

ultimate Frisbee? When we went to come on a game this so after like you know how after games you go and you get a workout in like Sunday Sunday, Sunday Sunday, you play Saturday Sunday, You'll go in, you have your team meetings, you have a you know, stretching stride and everything like that. But like if we won with John l we will play ultimate Frisbee, okay, And it was just someone like get that tooth knocked and

it was bad Matt Trannon. Matt Trannon busted his chair wide up and like fifteen stitches like and we were like, we are here hurting each other because we're competitive. Like it was like wide receivers versus DBS, linebackers versus running backs, and like you're competing and we're like we're tired. Like so we're tired. You played a full game and now you're here peeding again. And yeah, all I'm trying to do is like, man, we got to

hit this apple Bee's for that? Uh all? You can eat ribblets at before close, kat, you know, like those things like you know, just talked about and you know talking about, you know, going to apple Bee's doing it. Like what do you like to do for fun? Like, you know East Lands and it's a it's a really beautiful campus. For one, there's a lot that the campus offers. There's a lot that university offers. What do you like to do for fun outside of football? There

is a couple of things. Somemer' is a good time to to do some other things outside football. You have a little more free time. I feel like one thing is golf for sure, just finding guys and go out and golfing is really fun. Going to pools, like we'll go to just different dorms and stuff and go chilling the pool and send the sun for a bit. And another thing is is going I am West and running five is running basketball. So get some hooping. Yeah that's okay. I talked about this.

We talked about this the last time because I did I didn't play. I did not hoop im West because all fights started and everything like that. And I'll be one hundred still basketball. Yeah, Carl will go in there and piss everybody off. That's how kind of how it goes. How is your hoop game if it's solid. I mean I'm not like, I'm not like strapping everybody down, but like, I mean, I can I got

a little little handle going. I can pass the ball a little bit, but I mean I can make some tough shots too, So I mean it's all right. I mean I'm not like I'm saying, but that's fun. The best best best food spot in eastlant Oh, good question, best food spot? Okay, I probably say just putting the canes there. I mean, I like Canes. I like the Canes. Got you what's your major major? I'm an ECON major, so I'm gonna go into financial planning. So I'm gonna go into Econ and kind of do that route. Okay,

very nice, all right? Pre game meal? What? What? What do you? What do you eat? Let's just say, let's just let's go to two folds. Here. Your kick off it's at twelve o'clock, so it's a noon game. What's your pre game meal? And then let's go with h five o'clock. That night game a seven thirty kickoff, So twelve noon kickoff, what's your pregame meal? And seven seven thirty kickoff?

What's the pre game meal? Usually have breakfast for us like in the in the hotel or whatever, but usually get like I usuld get a couple of carbs. I'll get like eggs, bacon, sausage, a little bit, and then usually have like business and gravy and that's like my go to, Like I'll get a little business and gravy going and yeah, that's good. I don't eat too much before the game if it's an early kickoff, but yeah, I'll get a little bit of that. Okay, fun fact,

I've never had business and gravies in my life. That's crazy, right, seven thirty kickoff? What do you got that chicken breast though? What you got? Yeah, keep it pretty light. Chicken breast, maybe some some noodles maybe if they have some passa there, but yeah, it's pretty light. Okay. Favorite tradition about being a Spartan. What's the favorite tradition? You know, like the walk to the stadium? You know what, what's

your favorite Spartan tradition? You probably just said it right there. The walk, I mean that was something that I've never really experienced before. And just walking through and seeing all the fans just go crazy and love for the Spartans is crazy. And see my family, like the family comes games too, and just seeing them on the walk, it's just it's a real like full

circle moment. Just all the time to put it and stuff in high school and just being able to see them walking like have you walk into the stadium and stuff is It's it's awesome. I love that that walk every time before you ask this question, before you ask the next question. So the walk has always been right like from the kelog, Yeah, walking from the stadium. Now I've changed that up a little bit and you get on the bus and you get you know, transported to the Spartan statue. He doesn't know

anything different. Wait we no, no, this they this first. This is the first year. Last year was the first year. Yeah, so he knows it. They used to walk from the hotel. So is there a difference for you from a standpoint of preparation and just the the suspense right like the like, is there a difference for you when you walk from hotel or get on the bus walk from Sparts statue. I'm probably only gonna say this, but I wish we walked from the Kellogg like I want. I

don't. I don't like getting the bus and trying to get on the bus and then get off and then walk like I want to do the whole walk and I want to experience the whole thing. Is I feel like that's something that is like tradition. I don't know why they changed it, but as far as that, I mean, I enjoy that walk. I don't really listen to music, kind of just like in my head, just kind of

just getting my mind ready just for the game and stuff. As I walk into the like you're kind of calm and neutral when you walk in, and once you get in the locker room, it's it's go time, so you kind of flip a switch for sure. So no no music even when you get into the stadium or we know in the stadium because we've got the speakers off. I mean that level. Oh yeah, well, yeah, I listen to music when we get in the locker room and stuff like that,

but not on the walk. What you listen to? I listen to a bunch of different music. I'll listen to some rap to kind of get me going, but before the game, will listen like some calm, just like chill music to kind of just calm my mind down and get myself ready for the game. Like what I listened to a bunch of stuff mm hmm. I probably say like Drake or Kodak or Kendrick or something like that to get me ready for the game. And then okay, just some chill stuff before

the game. Got Kodak and Kodak then don't want the entry? So do you? What's your favorite game? Like? I once in a while I loved night games, but not every single day. What's your favorite? Twelve twelve o'clock kickoff, three thirty kickoff or night kickoff, night kickoff, night game for sure, plan of the lights and a bunch of fans. I mean, you can't beat that. So I probably say night game for sure.

Bat in a thousand with that one. It's all amazing night. So many people are against night games when like there's not one player in the history of the game that doesn't like night games. Okay, I'm just yeah saying, what's what's your what's the pregame ritual before team comes out? Because you know, everyone has their their thing, Like, you know, it took me a while to find out I could go out to the stadium before we

went out, So what is your ritual? Like as soon as you get there, you know, tape whatever the case may be, getting out on the field, what are you doing before you do your your organized instruction training, before you get ready. I kind of just take a second to take it all in, just look going on the field, kind of looking around, just like just kind of realizing where I came from and where I'm at right now, and just kind of just just getting my mind common ready.

And then I'll go into like a series of like just get my arm ready to work out and stuff like that. But yeah, just trying to just take it slow, not trying to rush into my my warm up or anything. Just kind of take it slow and get my mind ready as much as possible. Definitely, So I want to know, like, what's can you do an impersonation like coach Tuch? I mean I probably wouldn't do it that well honestly, but I mean he's a good guy. I don't know.

I don't know, man, I thought I had, I thought about to do something. No, I couldn't. Man, I couldn't. I couldn't reenact him. He's so unique. What's what's a coach toughanism? Like what does his go to sayings? Because like we know Coach d said some sayings and I know Nick Samon and everybody, but what is the saying that like he says all the time where he just beats in beside your head, like every time, what's those saying? I feel like one thing he always comes

to me is like do you love football? And then it'll just catch up like what's up, man? Do you love football? I'm like yeah, and that's like an obvious question. He's like You'll be like good, good, it is like, all right, coach, speaking of that love for football. You know we had last year with that school down the road playing there. You know, you had everything that went on that transpired, the tunnel incident, the suspensions and everything. You know, how has the team

digested that and what's the thought like going into this year. You know that game in October. Yeah, it was tough to process that. Everything happened really fast and we didn't really know what to think of it. But as far as now going to this season, it's in the river mirror, like, we're not even worried about that. Now, it's a new season, it's a new team, so we're not even focus on that anymore. That's in the past. Like that answer, it was, it was a great

answer. You know, Kayton, Look, you were you're you are from you know obviously Las Vegas, but you played in southern California, as we talked about earlier, highly competitive air area that has a lot of parent involvement, uh, compared to a lot of other places around the country. I don't know if you've seen Baby Gronk or you know who he is. Yeah, yeah, okay, So like we have a video to see we want to talk about parents involvement and what's too much? If we have to cue

the video of baby Gronck? Are you him? Is the real question? Yes? See a gamble? Say man, what kind of question is that you see my instagram? Say that ready a baby Gronk? Are you him? What kind of questions that look at my insta? Man? Those those podcasts should be fired like someone like ask him again? You know, like yeah, go lay down? Yes? So like that bit's the question when is too much too much? Right? Like? Is that something that you

know? I know this is an extreme issue, but you've been around situations I'm sure where parents are pushing kids in your opinion, what works? You know? Did your parents push you to be the player that you are right now, Kaiten or is this something that had to come from within you? Yeah? I think that's a little bit of both. My parents definitely pushed me and they saw my goals and they were like, do you want to

do this? Is this what you want to do for a future? And I kept telling them like, yes, this is what I want to do. So they're like, Okay, this is what it takes. My dad's been through it, so him and my mom they both pushed me to this everything I needed to do. They just kept me on. They helped me to like a standard of what I needed to do, and I felt like

that's that really pushed me. But they were never like going out on social media like trying to flaunt and there, trying to show me off or anything like that. I think was kind of behind the scenes, just trying to push me the best I can be. And I'm so thankful for them because they they got me to where I am today. So I wouldn't be here without them. It's one of those things that man like we get it.

We call it helicopter parents, right, like, yeah, they are constantly hovering and not letting coaches train and and it's also about this social media like cloud where it's like you do one little highlight and then you try to get you know, go viral and knowing that like, yeah, you might have one great clip or a couple of clips, but what's the work ethic, right, like work in silence, like Joe Burrow was saying, like,

just you don't got to highlight and videotape every time you're doing some training and working on your craft. And so, uh, you know, we did have you know kean On and when he was talking about your work ethic, where like you have put it in the work and going and doing the extra work inside the indoor facility. You know what, what what motivates you to

do that? Right, because like you do have your required workouts and your practices, but what is motivating you to go and then just do the extra work and not saying, hey, look at me, I'm doing this versus like I truly need to perfect my craft. Yeah, I feel like the biggest thing is my parents. For sure. My parents they sacrifice a lot for me to make to get where I'm at. So my biggest thing is what gets me up in the morning is like making them proud. I feel

like that's the biggest thing for me. And I know, I know my potential, I know where I can get and I'm not gonna sit and like just not get my best. So I'm gonna do everything I can to put myself in the best situation possible. And that's if that's getting extra work. And if I'm sitting down doing not, then like obviously I'm gonna go and try to perfect my game as much as they can, because I feel like it's that's important for me in my future. So I feel like that that's

the biggest thing for sure. Yeah, so you you want you know, you committed a Boise State before and you switched your commitment. And so with today's you know day and age with you know, people committing early going to different schools and the transfer portal and everything, like, what are your thoughts on that? It's it's pretty crazy. I mean there's people moving all over

the place and stuff. But I feel like the biggest thing is just looking internally and looking at our team, not trying to focus too much on who's going to where, who's going what, just focus on the guys that are in the building and just trying to improve that. So that's kind of how I look at it. Yeah, And so with and then also with that, you know there's nil and everything like that, in the perfect world you could have any nil deal, what would it be. That's a good question.

I drink. I drink energy energy drinks in the morning. I drink like C four rains. So probably getting like an energy drink one where I can I can kind of get a sponsor from that'd be pretty cool. I don't I don't really have like a big one. Honestly, I haven't really thought about it. Say no, that's that's the next Who is your favorite breakfast place? That's what you screwed it up? But anyway, so for the record, Kate, who what is your favorite breakfast restaurant? Mm hmm,

I said, I House pretty good. But there's a place called House on Ground too. Okay, okay, AMA's house pretty good. Fresh juice, they got that fresh squeeze juiced. It's golden Harvest. It's golden Harvest. Still there. No, used to take me there in that buffet on Sunday it's closed. Yeah no. And then Coral Gables to more Gables, core Gables. Yeah. See, people they don't know my Coral Gables. They used to take me there. I'm like, man, they got this

buff favorite breakfast. Look, we were talking about like the crazy dads, but you know, like, let's talk about some dads that are doing it the right way. Let's look at this tweet from Barry Sanders, who said that his favorite job in the world is probably my fuser favorite thing to do in life. It's just being an ms U dad. Guys, what do you think about Barry Sanders? He's a legend of my book watching him growing

up. So you know, it's great that he is a Green and White and we had that experience in sweet and basketball, right, so we already know it turns part in that sweet but you know him like him coming Steve

Smiths Fall. Yeah, so just seeing a legend and the Hall of Famer come in and you know, just support his son like in his endeavors, like his son could have played elsewhere or you know, he was a decent football player too, could have played it somewhere football a little bit, but you know, yeah, you know, Kate, no, I don't, I gotta, I gotta hit him up. Absolutely, yeah, but you know, one he got some hops because he'd be dunking in warm up.

So like that's crazy too, you know, being his son. But just to see a father support his dreams and efforts and and and just you know adapt as a Michigan state we know he's an Oklahoma state guy, right, so you know, to to absorb the Michigan state mantra. It's good to see Barry Sanders knowing that he's a legend in State of Missigan, legend worldwide. So I appreciate that he said legend worldwide world. Why perfect, Kayton. We appreciate you jumping on with us today. It's a lot of fun,

a lot of good conversations, great questions. Uh, hey, let's get it done this year. You know, good luck this season to you. I know there's that quarterback battle. You know, keep competing and like we talked about, you and Noah are going to continue to you know, raise each other's game and you know, let the best person out there for the spartans, that's right, control what you can control, man, and

the best man win and keep it going. Man. We're also also don't be a stranger because you'll see to You'll see straight, you'll see myself around. Definitely, don't be a stranger to come up, dapping up talk to us and we'll but you'll see them on the game day too. So definitely give cheat you some love on the sideline there. Appreciate, appreciated, Thank you, guys. Appreciate it. Kate and how's or everybody. I mean

that, hey, great kid. I know that he's in direct competition with you, you son, but I like the guy got some good luck to you. Go crazy to say good luck Caten. Yeah, there's a lot of people don't personally listen always be ready. So I want to give a shout out to uh my boy Alex Jesse Kirsten, all the people say, oh boy, watching the boy. Uh back at the crib. You know, just send me a picture so, you know, just getting it out there. Want to give it you don't everyone a shout out for that?

Absolutely, yeah, I love that. Listen. Look, this is the best part about today. So you know what to says, oh boy right when he doesn't know somebody's name. I guarantee, right, I guarantee you did. Like thirty times, I got caught up and I was I became self weird and hey you what are you talking about? It'll be good for you today. We love you too. Look, hey, we gotta stop. I'm drinking diet coke. I don't know, so okay, good all right, Silance, Silance Wiley, ju cul Corict. I'm Jasons Straorn.
