me from the smith and D'Antonio eras the boss. Otis Wiley Hard hidden safety who is on assignment right now. And Jay you shoot Choo Culchrick who joined the show today season you know, single season TV record holder. I don't know. He had twenty something touchdowns. You know, pretty good player. We need you to hit that subscribe in like button right now and do not forget to head over to the live chat where all the party is at and follow us on all of our social media's at This is Sparta MS. Let us know where you're watching from as well. Oh too, man, it's just me and you, Betty. So we got to talk about some stuff today. A new intro. I mean, I'm like that music. I mean it was hitting with

Kyla Ellsworth hit on that it was it was hitting. It wasn't like you know, Taylor Swift as you would like to talk about earlier, but it is Nonetheless, I thought it was very uh fitting. So you're saying you're not a swifty, not a swifty, not a swift. I don't know what that is. What is that? Yeah it's swifty? Okay, yeah, well you know an end of that music right now? Is she getting

there? She she's getting into that stuff. She just whatever it is, she just loves every time, like we play music in a kitchen, she's like dance with that day, I just melt, I absolutely melt, absolutely get ready for that daddy daughter dance coming up. That's the thing that was soft. But I gotta yelled at the other day because I'm trying to announce now she's too so we gotta get start training her and everything. So like to the living room. We'll have like a little step there and the rubbish

spins are right on the side there. But she like all along, she would like try to like grab the rubbish spin, you know, to you know, help herself come up, and that's what we call trash can here in the States. We'll go ahead. Yeah, But so like she's two now, so I'm like, no, no, you don't need to use that anymore. So you don't need it because she's done it without using you know, putting her hand on a rubbish bin to push herself up. So I'm like, no, no, no, you ain't. You ain't using

that anymore. We got to build those leg muscles. Yeah. Yeah, she's gonna be Diesel Thoroughbred, absolutely working on her balance or chorus string, making sure those the hamstrings and everything right. Get her. We're getting her. Ready December she's gonna start tennis lessons and two and a half. So wow, wow, King choographic for that, King cho Man. Hey, let's talk about the new two hundred million dollars center that was approved last week

by the Michigan State Board of Trustees. This is gonna be a remodel of the I AM West. You know, the thing is, did you go, um, did you go to the I AM watched when you were in school? Did I go? Yeah? I went? I went? Yeah? Who play I didn't go to hoop there. I didn't go there because like every that's where every football player went and thought that they could hoop and everything that ended up happening. You getting fights every time. I am wet

because you going too aggressive. And then these other dudes that are playing there, you know, they think they because you play football, they can go at you. So they come in a and then you're you know, you're used to being, you know, playing aggressive, and your athleticism kicks in and your pride kicks and you're like, there's no way this narc can beat me. So then you're going you're going against them, you know. So I never went to i MS because too much fights and stuff like that.

But you know, it is pretty cool that you know that they're they're doing this and uh, you know something really good for the students and everybody to enjoy. Yeah, I think it's gonna be a lot of the Olympic sports. You're gonna be housed there, and it clears the way for a potential return of MSU swimming and diving. That's a big one thinking about that. Everybody has been wanting that to come back for a while since it was cut a few years ago. But the table now set, it's been approved.

I mean, you know, all of a sudden, you know, we signed that big deal with CBS and then we're adding a two hundred million dollar WREC facility. See how NBC Peacock. Everybody eats. Everybody eats because that's the thing people think, you know, signing this TV deal, it just

benefits football. That's not the case. Everybody eats. You know, this money is going into the university, into all these other sports that everyone else can have an opportunity, you know, to you know, perform at a high level and you know, get the best facilities and everything like that. So that is the thing that's money isn't just for football. Everybody eats off of football and what happens at basketball as well. But that's what this is

not. We're team players in Michigan State, you know, most Big ten universities. But we're doing better in East Lansing. That's my opinion. I know that's George as well. The two. You know, there was a visitor for the second time on campus. It was Henry Hasselbeck. He decided to come back this time. I wanted to bring mom, bring my dukes to town to see so she could see what her with him and his father saw on their official visit. Yeah, you know, this is something like

really interesting and really are really cool. You know, he came back to town because he loved his visit the first time. And I'm sure you know you know this, Jason, You've gone to different universities and colleges with your kids and you know they liked it, you know, talked about it, you know, came back and you know, just kept talking about all the different the love that was shown, the facilities and everything like that, and you know, and it's really cool that he's like, Mom, you gotta

come back with us to see you know what we're talking about. And that's really big because we were talking in our production meeting earlier today about the importance of recruiting the moms, you know when it comes to you know, coaches knowing that some people do it, some people don't. But the schools that do that recruit the moms and everything like that, it really you know, those are the schools that people go to for the right reasons. And when

coach Tucker came in, you know, he changed things around. He wanted flowers planted, you know, around the facility. He wanted those things to attract the mothers and everything like that to make it feel a nice warm feeling for that. And someone that you know, really can really be talking on

this topic is um, Mama Hall. You know, she's the one that that really you know, what's recruited to and she felt the love and she's going around and telling other families that Michigan State is really a family and then really recruit you. That's true. I you know, you talk about you know, Mama Hall and Jordan Hall. You know, as you know, my son's down at IMG. There are guys at IMG that get recruited by

a lot of schools. And it's interesting when you talk to the parents about, you know, the schools that really focus on the parents versus some schools who clearly will recruit the kid away from the parents. They want to separate. Um, it's not a good look for those coaches out there that are thinking about recruiting players. Want to including the family. If there's a family,

include them. Um. That's just my humble opinion. That's what I hear from other parents around and typically the kids will you know, comply with

that unless there's some kind of real, real issue in the house. But look to, like you told me yourself when Stalin was recruiting you, the reason that you were done and dusted is because he called your mother about hitting your test all right, exactly, yeah, And you know we got that too, and you know, like you got, you know, recruiting the moms and they form a bond and form relationship and it shows that sense of you know, because if you don't and you know, Alicia, you know,

set a great point to this, uh to, you know earlier today in the production meeting and you know, shout out to Elia. You know, she does a lot behind the scene. She's part of the production meetings. She's you know, everything that we do. She's just not you know, posting clips and everything like that. Everything that we do to make us look good and stuff like that. She's one of the people behind that.

But she drew a good point today. You know, if you're my I'm not there with you to check it, check out for university, fall in love with it and you you go there and you get homesick and you know, and you call say, hey, Mama, I need to come home, you know, and they don't understand what that's like. They don't understand, you know, like where you are, what those coaches are doing for

you and everything like that. It's gonna be easy for them to say, yeah, you can come home, but if they're there, like, no, this person has your best interests at art. You know. Those are some of the things that I think go unnoticed in the recruiting. Those are some of like the little unsung heroes, you know, of recruiting, those little pieces there that people don't really realize. And you know, you got

people who still loves the university. Mama Raven, she's still on here all that because she loves the university and you know, still wants to be part of that and everything like that. So it's it's really interesting, you know,

the whole recruiting cycle and everything like that. And I think it's huge Toru, the moms and the parents because the parents as Spartan dogs too, so as we're concerned, that's what it is, right, the Spartan dogs for life, and that that's not just one player, that's the entire family. Him, little brother's cousin, Mam and m Grandmama and m m two in ones. I know I didn't forgot that's to the halls, they know.

But but you know, speaking of recruiting, we got another five star visit of David Stone, who's gonna come into town this week on his official visit given Michigan State the last look pretty much in this cycle of official visits. Yeah, you know, David Stone's coming in. Um, everyone knows how I feel about this topic. But I said, I'm gonna be in my best behavior today. You know, choo Choo's gonna be good. And because you know, at the end of the day, he's a very good

player. He's a good football player that we would be, you know, lucky to have, will be fortunate to have him, you know, come to your Michigan State university. He has a lot of you know, ice on him. I got some contacts at University of Oklahoma. Some people out there saying, oh you guys. Yeah, they're saying you don't have a chance, you don't have all that stuff. But I say, yet, he keeps coming back here, you know, for you know, two visits.

So he's coming here this weekend. I'm sure you know, the red carpet is gonna rolled out for him. You know, he's gonna get a ride in the sling shot with Coach Tuck. He gets to listen to you, you know, some music that he's listening. I'm sure he's not gonna choose Taylor Swift like I would choose. Maybe, you know, he might pick a little little baby or you know some you know whatever. These kids listen to that little baby, that baby, some baby and the NBA some

some you know, all of them have the same names now. But right so, you know he's he's gonna be back on in town. You know it's gonna be an official visit. They're gonna be able to you don't wind him, dying him, take care of him, show him a little thing or two. Um. But uh, you know, if we can get them, great, you know, if not, good luck. Well we need to know is who is going to be assigned as the host for David

Stone on the team. That's that is the thing, because you gotta you gotta like look at it now, like those hosts are like very important and uh you know everyone's gonna be like, oh here it goes, shoot you again, you know, patting himself on the back. But I was ninety five percent when I was a host, ninety five percent because the only time I messed up was we lost the kid to uh to uh true story hands

it got true story. Um. His name was Nadar and he came in and uh it was us in Ohio State and we go to Champs for dinner and uh he looks at his family's there. We're sitting there. He's like, oh, what's good here? And got chay. I was like, dude, you gotta get the pork chops. The pork chops so good man, you got it. He's like, oh, you know, maybe I might get a burger. I was like, no, man, you gotta get the pork chop. He's smarting get Port and I just I'm getting kicked

under the table. I was like, who's kicking. It was Jeff Scotland. He's kicking, He's like and then I realized like, oh no, this dude's Muslim or yeah, and Jeff port chops down his throat, come on. And and then I really once it hit me, I was like, oh, the burgers are fire here too. It definitely wasn't how I'm oh my god, oh man, so we know this is what we do. Porty. Let's say let's just say he ended up at Ohio State, right, was a big sline eaters over there too. They didn't push it

though. Man, look, speaking of the rides in the sling shot with Coach Tuck, we had a five star quarterback just drop in. This week Charles Lester had an unofficial visit. Charles to the third out of Venice, Florida, came in and just hey, man, bless yourself, bless ourselves with his presence on campus. Well you think about that, Yeah, you know, I think that's really huge. Um, you know those guys from Florida, they're coming coming down and uh, you know an unsung hero in

that. A guy from Florida, the Bradington area that who brought a bunch of recruits over this weekend was Sir Darian Adams. You know he was a teammate of mine. And otis this Jason you know him very well. You know he brought some guys through there too. He had something. You know, he's trying to spread the word of East Lanton down in Florida. But you know Charles coming down to East Lanton, you know for a visit, you know, a surprise visit, you know, really something that's that's really

good. And did I hear this correct? Well? Did he after the visit, did he cancel another one? Yeah, he's supposed to be going to Georgia this weekend for an official visit or for whatever reason he said, family issues. He canceled his official visit to Georgia after spend a little time with Mail on the sling shot. I don't know man, that would do it to you. You know, his teammate was none other than Shuck Brantley. Yeah, I cinently played with him. I believe they might have taken

some pictures together. Yeah, to be determined, like to be to be determined later. As far as the release date on those picks, we need to see those. Maybe a picture that'd be real cool too, because you know, Michigan State wasn't even in the picture for him prior to this. So I think it was like Bama, Florida State and Georgia. And you know, we don't know we're in the game. We're not all the way out, that's all. I know. We need more defensive backs. We'll

tell you we have one in fifty eleven. The them, No, but they're gonna graduate. You know, it's gonna be you know, it's an attrition thing, we think because these recruits are for next year. You know that's what this is. Like budget planning, like budget pointing, like literally and figuratively budget planning. But yeah, yeah, for real, you know this is uh for next year's crop. You know there's gonna be some graduation, I'm sure. Um, And you can't ever have enough speed on the

team. And guys can play at the five char level like Charles Lester the third out of Venice, which is a great high school down the beautiful place. Um, and a lot of great talent comes out of there. Heyeully, the thing is, the thing is straight and uh, we talked about this and we saw and Corey mentioned it. It's like there's a difference in Coach Tucker right now with the recruiting. I think he's back to that you know before like the farm animals and cars on there. It's that pure recruiting

right now that's going on. And it's that you know, like we want, we want guys for you know, the loyalty factor the guy says gonna be here. So I think if there's a little there's a that switch going on right now with Coach Tucker and his staff in recruiting right now, and you know, for the people that want more and more and more. Right now, I say be patient because stuff like this is it's in the works. Yes, it is on the move in a good way, So just

be patient. I think that, you know, the commitments are going to start falling here in the next few weeks as we enter into the last week of official visits, and we're gonna have to bring Corey or somebody from the recruiting side of things to give us a good picture of what it looked like in the whole month of June from Michigan State. And they're supposed to have

some prize visitors on campus this weekend as well. Coming up. Speaking of surprises, Josh Butler of the Michigan Panthers first gets he had a hit an issue during the game, but came back made the playoffs, and all I know is Josh was dancing in the locker room to you were calling this game? How did it go? Yeah? You know it was. It was, you know, definitely a good game. Josh played very well. He had some really good sticks and really good hits and some good PBUs um.

Unfortunately for Josh he had he had opportunity to hit the showers oh little earlier than anticipated um as he was subjected in the third quarter for throwing a punch. But you know, things get you get worked up and everything like that. Um so, But hey, the Panthers are in the playoffs on Saturday night eight o'clock. Uh, you know on NBC. UH that will be playing the Pittsburgh Mawlers for a chance to uh if they win, they're playing

in the USFL Championship. And not just Josh, but we got Ryan Lurkey. He's the backup quarterback for the Panthers as well, so it will be an interesting game Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh actually beat the Panthers twice this year, but it's tough to beat it team three times, right, stright? Oh, I'm near impossible to do that one. And where's this game gonna be played? At you? This game is in Canton, Ohio, Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. And you can hear it, you

know. I turn it on NBC, hit the mute button and turn it on w JR seven sixty am and listen to myself and my broadcast partner Chris Renwick with the call. Oh, there's a few Grandpappy references that I throw in there, here and now, and then it's a great broadcast. I'm just saying that I listened to you. I don't listen to many of the guys that are on the radio, but you do a phenomenal job on that. And I gotta give Stray some credit because he said at the beginning,

He's like, Hey, I'm gonna listen to you. And I was like, yo, listen to me. Give me tips. And it was like the third quarter he said he sent something about man something else like damn, bro, you're still listening. He's like, yeah, what I told you all gonna listen. I appreciate that. Stray absolutely. Man, Hey, you don't need too much tips. I mean you're doing a good job. Man. Yeah, And congratulations on the playoff birds. Hopefully the Panthers can

continue. Man, you make this get to the championship. I look, they the players get bonuses, so does the broadcast team. It's all good. I'm trying to get I'm trying to get size and fit it for a ring, right, speaking of all the rings, that's all the rings I got. Lay let us get any rings. We play far back in the day. But anyway, you know, hats off to the Michigan Panthers and you chow on the broadcast team as you continue in the playoffs. But everybody

wants to talk about this update right now. And we got an update on alcohol sales potentially gonna happen for the Spartan Stadium this fall. The house. It looks like it's in a favorable spot as this bill is now in committee and it looks like, look, the the tracks are greased for this to happen to too. Yeah. Absolutely, and uh, you know they're talking

about alcohol sales. And then I was going through reading some articles, um and uh, even you get sucked in that little rabbit hole on social media on Instagram, Twitter, uh, Facebook, and once you know those those articles are posted on there and you see the comment you just want to click on the comments. You just go through and read those. And there's some people that are, you know, talking about, oh, that's not a

good idea. You know, kids are gonna be drinking. It's gonna be drunks in the stands, it's gonna be this, it's gonna be that. I actually think the opposite. I think it's gonna be a lot safer,

um for the for the the students that are of age. I think it's gonna be a lot safer for some of the adults, you know, because they don't have to chug a pint of fireball, they don't have to chug a pint of Nikolai vodka because that's what they can afford at that age, and call they can go into the game, you know, at a nice ober mind, they can buy beer, sit back and watch some football. That's what it's about. And also too, you know, it's not just

about the alcohol sales and everything like that. It's the revenue that comes in the partnerships and everything like that. And we talk about we talked about it earlier, that two hundred million dollars um you know, additions for I AM West. You know, all those these alcohol sales, these revenues and everything like that is going to go into helping other sports, is going to go into helping the facilities, you know, for the students at Michigan State.

All those things are going to be good. We've looked at you know, the twenty twenty twenty two revenue scale there. Michigan State was twelfth in that

and it didn't even sell alcohol. Think about how much higher they can be and think about all the the you know, the stuff that's going to come out of that for the athletes, you know, not just football, not just basketball, not just the money drawing sports, but also the Olympic athletes as well, you know, having an opportunity to have um swimming and diving

come back because of revenues coming in. These students, these narbs that are you know on the you know, going to school as well, have the opportunity for im wes to be rebranded and rebuilt so they can go and get a workout and play basketball and everything like that. It's just a win win

all the way around. You know. When you saw the Rep. Graham Filler, Republican of Saint John's who sponsored the House version, he said some interesting words to He said, I think Michian State is a great example of a university that is prepared and it's ready. It could turn on the proper safety and infrastructure and get it ready for this fall in regards to alcohol sales in stadium. So I mean, Michian State's prime and ready to go,

you know on this one closely. Yeah. And the thing too, it's not like it's like people just think it's gonna be a free for all. You know. They think it's gonna be like free alcohol, and it's gonna be, you know, just like a big keg that you can just go and dip your head under there. It's not the red seedar that you just dip your mug in the red cedar and it's gonna and a beer is gonna come out in that. It's not that you're still gonna have to pay for

it. They're gonna be loss and regulations against it. You're still gonna have to be twenty one years of age. They're still gonna cut it off probably at the in the middle of the third quarter, you know, of the game. It's not gonna be just everywhere you go. It's not gonna be Oprah saying you get a beer, you get a beer, You get a beer, you get it. It's still gonna be some laws and regulations that's

put in place for this. It's not gonna be a free for all, you know, but I think it's gonna you know, the person that's gonna be, you know, be out there like someone's putting a common chugging that fifth a fireball before they come in. They might be like, you know what I can get I can get a beer in there, and I'm gonna be like we want to. I was, you know, on the sidelines

at Illinois this old beer. I saw people in the stands, you know, and we were in um I think it was Maryland in the elevator there and talking to the sid there and he said, you know, our alcohol problems have gone way down since we're allowed alcohol in the stadium, you know, for people to drink. Those problems and issues that we've had before have gone way down because of that. So I think that's gonna be the same thing here. HM and we and and because of this, we want to

pose a question to all the listeners out there. What are your five top five beer and wine choices that you would like to see in Spartan Stadium this fall. M I got on the line, Oh you have something sad LBL and LBL baby lobat Blue Light, Bat Blue Light that Canadian goodness. Listen, we gotta find out. We're gonna do a pole. We're gonna put it on social media, so too it after the show. We want to find out what is the top five? Because you may be able to influence

this. This is the power of shows like this in streaming platforms. We're interactive, so you want to tell us what you like. The people who make decisions are watching, they're listening, and you know everyone in Michigan who but good I go to it's a summertime. I got to get an Oberon, love an Oberon overall against Oberon. I like Steve Smith, he says old So being a good Catholic boy, I didn't. I didn't drink in high school. The only time I drink was that communion because I was a

good Catholic boy. Um. The first thing my drink I came to get when I said once at Michigan State and uh it was Old English. They made me play because I don't go with the lineman at first. So we're gonna go out and they're like, yeah, you're not leave until you do that. Takes shot me down and wrapped two forties of old E to my play ever forty hands. You know you can the duct take the forties of old E to your hands. He had a complete ever forty hands before we

could go out. I mean, not not a not a Sparta beer from Jolly Pumpkin. We're going Old English. You didn't have jolly pumping back then. Hey, I think it's a great question. Drop them in the chat, put them on social medias when we put the pole out there, because we want to know inquiring minds. When I know what kind of beer and wine you want to spartan stadium for the fall, and it's gonna continue basketball

season, hockey season. It's gonna be great. You know, we're gonna get back to the script here after this message from our friends over at eye Hop I Hop, we're introducing to you new all natural black Anger Steak Brothers, the Bourbon Bacon Jam and the Hill Opinion Pick with a French four cheese Crisp get a combo with Friz in a Dream starting at nine dollars only for

my half bundle leverbur limited time only. Pry some participation in there. You constrictions apply and remember the follow us on all of our social media platforms at This is part of m as you you know what. Right now, the NBA Draft is going on right now to yeah, the pistons are on the pistons are on the clock right now the clock. Don't worry. Don't worry. We'll let you know who they pick um and so they can still be in the bottom of the league next year. Come on, man, Victor,

you know number one Victor? How do you say his last name? Windby? That's all I've heard people say they call him. But yeah, the seven foot you know, seven phenom did go number one overall. I think I saw there was a bet in Vegas. Somebody put up sixty thousand to win three hundred dollars. Yeah, that's stupid. Thank you tell me how you really feel about this, like like like if you that's just like

it makes zero sense. Like, God, I'm gonna put this up to win this and if you don't, then you you're out tick to win three if something ain't mathing, you know, Tony Allen Producers, that's a free three hundred dollars because everybody knew if you put if you got sixty, if you got sixty k too, put up. You don't need to worry about three hundred dollars. This is true. Yeah, I guess just wanted to

make a point. Yeah, so congratulations. Uh, there's so many different ways to flex in Vegas, dud dude, speaking of flex, and you know last year we brought up Austin Simmons reclassification discussion. This is the player. If you remember that went to Old Miss that was a twenty twenty five quarterback. He gets a five point three four GPA, finished all of his high school classes as a freshman, said, and he reclassified up two years

to twenty twenty three. Is there an issue and this is the question we talked about with going into college at a young age versus being a little bit more mature, because this is a question that is happening all over the United States with reclassing players holding kids back or pushing them through early. What do you think about it? Is he ready for the game mentally physically? No, he's ready for the game in the sense of he has the grades to

get him to that point and the Claringhouse he beat the Claringhouse game. He's not ready for the game physically. You know, if you're seventeen years old and going in you're playing with grown men, You're playing with guys that are twenty twenty one years old. You know, you're you're you know, you're doing these things and it's like and some of this stuff, especially at a quarterback. Yes, he's smart. He has to IQ and everything like that.

He can dissect the playbook. You know, he can understand these things. But there's a time where athleticism comes into play where hey, your first reason o there, your second reason out there, your third reason out there? Your check now, your checkdown's not there. You have to tuck that ball and go. Now you're getting tackled by a senior that's a linebacker who's preparing for the NFL Draft, and you know that that takes a toll on you. And you're asking a lot of a kid, you know, seventeen

making some different types of throws. You know you're talking. If you're on the hash and you have to make a throw to the opposite sideline, that's called a big time throw, you know, and you can't. You don't have that to make that right then and there at the end of the day too, My question is why would you want to do this? So soon you're gonna play a lot of football, Like, what's the rush? Enjoy your high school? Enjoy high school football. High school football is the funnest

and purest form of football you'll ever play in your life. What's the rush to go? That's gonna be there. You can take your scholarship offer, you can be the dude in high school go to these different camps, do all these different things. Go to your go to your senior prom. I was and uh I was prom king by the way at my high school. But you know, go to your senior prom, go to homecoming dance,

enjoy those types of things. The kid can't even sign his um his national letter of intent, you know, without a parent, you know, you know, signature on their proper guided signature. He can't even go into you know, to say, hey, you know, this is a form that our doctors, our team doctors can work on you in different things without his parents signing that illegal guardian everything like that. Enjoy your time in high school. There's no rush. Hey, you know, listen, I actually agree

with you on this. It's I don't understand the rush. And you're right when you said that high school football is the most pure form of the game when it's still fun. You know, they're trying things that right now, you know, with different rules or whatnot, bringing nil to high school and all those types of things. But high schools where it's fun. I mean, if you ask any player that's played to the Hall of Fame level, that's that's the time to have run and be with your friends. That's the

big thing too. You you talk about that, Jason, You're absolutely right to the Hall of Fame level and everything like that. I remember sitting in NFL locker rooms and guys weren't talking about Hey remember the time when we played in a national title game in college, or hey remember this AFC title game we played it. They're like, oh, no, my high school could beat your high school. We played this, we played that. There was, you know, a video of two players at the end of the game

in an NFL game. They're like, Hey, did you play on this so and so youth league? Yo, we played against you. We're the Purple and Gold team. You know all this that's fun. That's the fun people. I don't care what level. I don't care what size. If it's UM you're playing at IMG, or if you're playing in where I played a Class D school, that's the funnest football you will play. It's your boys, it's here, the town gets around you, the school, the

community, that atmosphere and everything like that. There's nothing like it, and no one can take that away from you. So I don't understand why you will reclassified up. You know too, could leave early. I can see reclassifying down because you want to be bigger, stronger, faster. That's why that's in places around that now. So the players that go into high school, it's very difficult now to try to reclass after you've already started high school.

So I mean, you know, I got a call the day from a former teammate that's having that kind of issue with the sun right now. And it's tough once you are in high school to do that. In certain states Pennsylvania, for instance, they track it from sixth grade. If you once you hit sixth grade, you got six years to graduate, period, no questions that, So there is no reclass and if if you're gonna reclass in Pennsylvania, be got to do it as a kindergartener. That's where you

know you're a ability strong. You know, it's crazy and it is cultural, is what I'm seeing. Like, not not cultural, it's more regional and base when you see it in certain pocket United States. I can see it a lot in California, heavy in Texas, but that's from birth. And then in Florida you see guys moving around in different schools like every week if you sign them the thing you just said, the twenty three the top

recruit, Dylan Riyoma is on his fourth high school. So see, but the thing you just said, you said those states, you said California, you said Texas, you said Florida. Maybe Ohio's in this as well. But that's why, year in and year out, those schools out are on a different level than of pumping out you know, collegiate athletes and everything like that. So maybe some others, you know, places can't look at that.

You know something, when I was back in New York, I preached to you know, like we need to figure out how to get you know, with the times. If we want to say New York football's on there and good, you know, we gotta put our players in the best position to be successful. And I will say it's the same thing here in Michigan. You know. Yeah, you got some guys that come out to Michigan everything like that, but Michigan New York there's so far behind, you know

when it comes to football and everything else. You got people doing springball. They're doing like padded spring practices in high school. You don't have that stuff here, you know, and if you're you know that one person that's pushing for it. Oh Man everyone's collecting their pearls, thinking like you're like the you know, you're something else that kids be a kid, blah blah blah

blah blah. But yet at the end of the day, you want them to go and perform and represent your state, but yet you're not giving them that full opportunity to do so. Yeah, that was well said. I think there's a clear line between overtraining the kid and being like that you know, the robot. Do you remember that guy time and a Renovich right was

programming him to be this ye, like like fights from little giants. Yeah, yeah, right, there's that, and then there's also look, you're given you you're you're keeping up in a way that's fun and healthy, and it's more mental reps is what we're talking about. Yeah, practicing, but they're not trying to kill each other practice. It's it's teaching them the proper

techniques at an early age and hold them accountable and just getting reps. What why did you get so good after you left New York and got to Michigan State too and get yourself into a position to play in the NFL, Because, like, like you said, reps, I did football, I trained football, I worked it. I worked muscle, so I didn't know I worked it off the field. I had, you know, different opportunities to get better. You know. It wasn't like, hey, you play football

August to November and see you next August. That's how it is in a lot of these states. Now it's like, all right, see you next August. You can still do other sports. I'm not saying you can't do other sports, but you still have the opportunity to do you know, you know, play foot, go to go to workouts, you know, go and watch some film. Right, You don't like the mental side of things. Kids these days don't watch enough football, you know, that is the

thing. You don't watch enough football. Well, they say, when your brain is watching the film and it kind of thinks that you're actually doing it. If you're focused then on the film, it's all right, it's like your body's doing it, you know, it's a it's a little that's what old vets do. They watch a lot, but they sure watch a lot of film. Makes them pretty good. I don't know. That's last my check. The Pistons picks in right there, it is Thompson, was it?

Oh sar, how do you say that we got us a guard forward. Osar Thompson, one of the Thompson Wins. Amen and oh Sar go back to Yeah, you know one of the Thompson twins. Yeah, I thought you were a good one. Y'all got Darko two, he went Victory Cigar. That was a number two pick overall. He did go before Carmelo, Anthony and a way. That's now we'll see. Time will tell, like who gets picked off after um, the Thompson Twins, why even the

Thompson twins, why never mind? But you know Darko did Darko and Tony just said Darko did win an NBA title with the Pistons, Dallas. I don't know, they don't know. He wanted with the Pistons. Yeah, because that's why he was. Yeah, he was a human Victory Cigar. That's every time he was in. You know, it's gonna be a win. Yes, yeah, he got in, got in. You know after the I think the Pistons beat the Lakers about two thousand and four, go to work Pistons, Yes, Tom Sells, Big Ben, Hey, tay

Sean oh Man. Look, look we have a squad back then. You did Patna bring on the Voice of the Detroit business who's also your voice of the Michigan State Spartan football team. We're gonna talk about all that stuff. You're gonna bring on some man the guests. The let me tell you the list of guests that are coming. You haven't seen nothing yet. And we've had some great ones and we have some great one so we be we mean, we'd be flipping through and we'd be like, oh, that's a great

one. You got it. Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be great. Listen, we got continue more of this discussion after this message from our friends over at the house Hoppy Hour starting at six dollars at three pm only from my home and join the rewards program Today. Tony Yell brought up she you can'tnot forget, she'd man the guaranteed guaranteed Wallace, Yeah, no, don't forget to hit the light of subscribe button so you know, shoot, you stays happy and it's not angry. We don't want you to upset. Otis

is on assignment. As we said, you don't you know who you don't want upset. You don't want my straight upset. Nobody wants that, you know, especially met mama straight upset about it. I'm hitting that button, hit that light and subscribe. Tell a friend, and tell a friend to tell a friend, and tell your mama. Damn, we're gonna talking about your mam and m and a little bit of loyalty to a school and then a program. Do people feel like this is just trying to get a sense

of things right now? People think that the sense of loyalty is now gone with college sports, the way things are with the transfer portal and the way that people are now looking at facilities. There's a quote from Maryland head coach Mike Locksley. He says, Look, unfortunately we moved in at the time of facilities have been de emphasized in a recruits mind because they get dressed in a trash can for the cash in a pocket about twenty five grand. Mean,

what are you? What are you thinking about that comment? You know, I just pitched your kids kidding like like I'll take that. Hey, do you want a locker today or do you want that? I've got my con I'm going there. You know, I think you know, I think, Um, he has a point. Um, I still think, you know, the arms race of new facilities and everything is big. Um, But I think there isn't that kids are not some kids because not every we have to you know, let's let's emphasize. It's not every kid you know

that goes to a college it's getting you know, big nil money. Not every kid's getting that. But some of these kids that are in like that ten percent, that eight percent, five percent that are getting these big money and everything like that aren't going because if the facility, they're going because what's in what's going to be put in their pockets. You know, that's the reason that they're gonna be going to these schools. And they don't. They

don't give a damn. You know, you have a slide in your facility. You know, some kids want to be like, Okay, I care about, um, what the training room looks like. I don't care about recovery. I care about the weight room. You don't. Do you practice on grass or do you practice on turf? You don't? Those are the things they don't. They don't give a damn about the bells and whistles.

Nowadays. We used to because we lived in the locker room. We were it was it was the weight room, the practice field, the training room, and the locker room. That's where we lived. That was like our bubble there and all those things. Having a comfy lockey that you could lay in, lay a head down, play a little PlayStation, you know, do all these different things was big to us. But now it's not that case. People are are just are care about, you know, what's in

it for them, and people have these mindsets and everything like that. And you know, we had a the loyalty is not in there anymore. We talked about, you know, a guy that we lost, Keyan Coleman. He was on a podcast and he said, you know, I already had decided that I was gonna do my two year sentence at Michigan State and then go somewhere else. I think he got caught up in a moment in an interview, and I don't think he said what he truly meant. I think

he really enjoyed and loved his time at Michigan State. I think now he's pander into the Florida State crowd as he should. He's there, he's a seminal. Now he should be there. And you know, he did give you know, compliments to you know, coach Courtney Hawkins. He said they have an NFL receivering you know, a guy that played in the in the NFL as a receiver. Um, I'm gonna go and sharpen my tool in

his toolbox and everything like that. I think the thing that Spartan fans got all, you know, upset and in their fields for us because he said the word sentence, the two years sentence like it's like it's a little bid he's gonna do there. But um, you know, overall, at the end of the day, he's like nineteen, you know, nineteen year old nineteen twenty year old kid, you know, you know, talking and everything like that. I don't think what he said truly reflected on his time at

Michigan State as well. Yeah, no, I look, you can't take what's said in a in a in a podcast situation like that, you know, when a player is transitioning and you know, and be upset about it. I didn't. It didn't bother me one bit, you know, not

at all. We know where Kean's heart is. I mean, you see we talked about earlier Ravens still here, you know, and like there's no love loss between the Coleman family and Raven and any of those the folks that have been here before and left you know, let's even talk about it when you talk about guys like Dayton Thorn, he left as well to Auburn, you know, both great schools they both left and went to. But look, we are still happy for their success. You know, we still root

for them to be successful. Right Just because you have to move on and for a career decision doesn't mean that we've kicked you out of the family. So to me, I don't think that the facilities and those things have been completely deemphasized just for money. You know, that's the question that it seems to be that we were talking about in our production men, like do people

do players care at all? Yes, they do. And for those mentioned things that you mentioned, we still see players living in the football facility right now. And you know, I've been on tours um around the country with different universities in the way that they are spending money to keep the players in the facility, feed them in there. You know, they have the recovery,

they have the sleep stuff. I mean, these these these rooms that they have in Michigan States getting this as well, where you can you know, spend forty minutes to take a forty minute nappenance as good as for the six hours of sleep, you know, those are great things for releasing those growth hormones and healing yourself and growing all the things that you need to do in order to be a better version of you. Um, you know that's

that's what's happening now. And I think that you don't want to skimp on that. I don't think the players would say I don't want that. And just giving the money. It's one of those things that you got to hit a certain level, you know, the bells and whistles, and then you know they still want the money. It's both. It's not a some you know some of this that but you know you O a F and that what

said boaf. Both. But the thing is is uh sure, you know I think for four three, two one walk on those that facilities are huge. A certain percentage of those five star guys they I don't think it's it's all that you know, Like I think I agree with you that it is

big. It's nice to have, you know, but these guys stock process, you know, like and I'm talking like the eight that's making you know, big money money that we talk about on here, um are like, you know, I can go and train at home with my quarterbacks coach. I can do this. But the thing that we saw that when we had a bunch of Michigan State guys on the show and said that chemistry was not there because the lack of the facilities. You know that the facilities weren't done

at the time because they're working on new ones. So we saw what it is. When you're there, it means a lot. But going there it's like, Okay, there's a building, there's there's that, you know, but like at the end of the day, it means a lot. It's it's something that's really big and uh. But you know, I think you need the facilities if you want to attract people, you have to. It's

it's a must have and you have to keep up with it. And all these you know, schools has building these beautiful facilities and everything like that. It's great, you need to. The arms race is still going to continue and still be there because of the importance of these facilities and everything like that. But I think to some people, but it's I don't think. I think the percentage is higher for the people who love it and want the facilities

than it is that is oh well question. I mean you're you're gonna see that. Guys are not gonna sacrifice all facilities just for a dollar. You know, they do one, they still want to be taken care of. And you know, think about this when you talk about like in business world, are bonding when people is usually over breaking bread with them, spending time with them. Are you know, going on a trip where you guys are

you know, sharing experiences. May go go to the same hotel, maybe not the same room, but you're gonna go, you know, eat, sleep, trying to achieve your company's Uh, it depends how a chief your company is. There you go, there, you go. It can be any of that. But like those are the meaning that is that is the thing. It's um. You don't we talk about that, and I think

we lose focus on sometimes straight um. Even in your work world. If you go to an office and everything like that and you have a shit office, you have a shitty break room, you have those things, you don't want to be there. That's employee I do I do you know, go and do public speaking at different manufacturing leadership and everything like that. And one of the top things I tell these these um you know, these owners,

these supervisors and everything. I was like, hey, let's take a walk through your facility, you know, and I say, take me to your breakroom. And you go to the break room and you know, and someone's like, hey, you know, will you come and do a presentation on retention to my team why it's important to be here in culture and everything, And so I say, you know, let's go to your break room. Your breakroom is dirty, it has this, that and the other. I'm

like, this is one of the reasons why you have bad retention. You know, empower your employees to be like, hey, let's decorate this, let's put wallpaper, let's do this, let's do that. Facilities wherever you are. These kids are working, right, they don't play the game, they're working. This is their office. It has to be nice. It's just the same thing. You want to go to a nice office when you're done, you want to go to a nice office. Was a nice cafeteria

and everything like that. So that's the thing that's the you know, entire case with that. You have to have nice things. That's why when you brace something, what do they say, that's why we can't have nice things? You kind of have a nice things. You do look Nebraska lore Rue Nebraska dropping hundreds, spent five million on a new three hundred and fifteen thousand square foot football facility, plus rebuilding the stadium. Arms race is the big

ten has heated up. It's true. I mean it took him for all that damn money. He snuggers them. I don't know who who who got away more? Scott Frost swindled Nebraska or Brett Farrest one of those people in Mississippi. There's another ball for two to who allegedly allegedly who's the biggest swindles Scott Frost or Brett Fire your old teammate. By the way, he wasn't

like that. He wasn't swung on those people. I gotta go check that tag on those wranglers that he gave us now to make sure he You know people, man, look, you're gonna he's gonna get a seasoned decision. Farmless swine. You got nothing starting for lin is on it now. You know it's gonna be. It's gonna be farm shooing sharp Pat McAfee. And they never should have fired bow believing that's a great point. That is a good point. Bo Bo was actually nice in there. And then they got

Bill Callahan in there. Callahan, Oh my gosh. And then the guy who went to Oregon State for five minutes. I forget the name of that coach. Can't remember the one lied who Oh no, he wasn't the one. Yeah, no, there just not a very Nebraska, Nebraska guy, you know what I mean. But look, yeah, they said Callahan wasn't a Nebraska guy either, but he's a hell the old line coach. I love them. Yeah, when he was at the Jets, when when I was with the Jets, he was there, Calahan, Yeah, oh yeah,

he's one. That's why we played. Uh I read shirted and we played in the Alamo Bowl and uh no, Callahan was the head coach there when I think that's when the fired bow and the Callahan was like total. And that's when that boy Richie Incognito was just debo and Cagnito, Yes, Chigo, that boy was something else. Yeah he was. That's that's ridiculous, you know. I mean, look, man, Callahan's a dude. When we were talking about Mike Rows and that's the guy that Organ State guy.

Thank you, Tony g We got we got guys in the fact that I just cracked so they just coming off the top of the dome with that, right, will never know, you know, But anyway, Richie Incognito reference, I mean, this is this is great. You know what other show can you get a Richie Incognito reference? Just on a non the script Thursday nowhere but here, Look, Tony said, Richie Incognito will always have a place in my shit list for what he did to Drew Standing. You

don't need to blame Richie Incognito for that. You need to blame John hal Smith and for putting their gonna be starting quarterback on special teams. That's what you needed to do. Yeah, that was pretty damn ridiculous. Yeah, and speaking of Drew, uh, Monday, Monday is his uh, his golf tournament. There. I will be in the building, um Otis will be in the building. I know Harriet will be there as well. Um so you know it's it's for a good cause. Coach Talking will be there

as well. UM so excited for you know, I'm I probably won't report back to you guys on h on Tuesday with a hole in one, but you know, so will Yeah, I'm perfect seeing say hole on one. Yeah, Oh yeah, okay, all right, you golf game, I retire. Yeah, you actually ever hit a hole in one, You're never playing again? Yea. I will find the closest cond hopefully I'll find the closest pond on the on the course and throw my clubs in there. We

want a video of that happening. We need a video. We need an interview with you and coach Tucker. Can we do that for this is Sparta? Can we can we get a little interview while you're there? Find some guys. I know you can do that. And we got our do revive asking when is this is Sparta? M as you golf out? O? That sounds like fun. If its trouble, it's gonna be something that's a

great idea. We're gonna have to do that. That's you know, hey, with all these sponsorships that are hopefully coming you never know we're coming to a city, are you, And we're gonna definitely be doing a lot of We got to catch up with all the ticket giveaways, those things that you were talking about the w W E ain't coming up soon. We got to figure out when we want to do it because August fifth is rolling around here soon. Two people have an opportunity to come kick it with us and watch

a little summer Slam action. So I'm talking about little Summer Slam with the crew of this Sparta. A man shoot and look at the belt the champion shoot man. We gotta get and said, now y'all just have to give me some tickets. Right, we caught you don't worry about figuring got t Listen on a serious note before we go, we do have some sad news to report the passing of Coach Tucker's mother and missus, Brenda Joyce Tucker, did pass away on this Monday. You know, she was seventy four years

old. Prayers and condoleass to the entire Tucker family. You know, when you look at this human side of things, everybody talks about the coach. You know, as you can see, Coach Tucker was at on campus on Tuesday driving kids around in sling shots. You know, just realize some of these are human beings and sometimes it's it's bigger than the game. The things that guys are dealing with while in those positions as being the head coach are

just any coach at the Power five level. So our thoughts and prayers are with the Tucker family during the sad time. Yes, rust and power without question, you know, and outside of that, you you know, I think this is a good show. You know, we have Oldis on assignment, but he has jumped in the chat so he's been listening in the Yeah you're listening on that bandwagon. Yeah, out there doing God's working in the in the world. You know the stuff that you gotta be bringing out you'll

be seeing soon soon enough. Um, if you really enjoy it tonight's show, don't you get to hit that like subscribe button. Shoot you, you know, any final thoughts from you before we go? Um.
