Be following is a presentation of play Fly Sports properties. Hey, everybody's still partying from left last week that big road win and we got a live feed into a flight somewhere around Minnesota where we had alumni Kirk Cousin celebrating the wind over the line, nin cause you that wow. Kirk was celebrating them far up, my favorite cousin. Yes, sir, yes, sir, get it, get it on. We had the fact that the Vikings are seven and one, maybe maybe that was the case, but he also celebrating them

sparks, little spartans go. By the way, this is spartan, I mean, oh, Jason Strayhorn along with her co host Otis Wiley and Jayu Chootchu Cochrik. Michigan State obviously has that good feeling going on, winning on the road to a very good in line nineteen twenty three to fifteen last week. But now we turn the page to Rutgers. Rutgers Greg Schiano lead Rutgers Scarlet Knights invade the woodshed. They've got to come to East Lansing for a

noon kickoff this Saturday in East Lansing. Both teams four and five. Both teams have similar defensive style coaches. Both teams like the chop. We're going to get into that. Michigan State likes to keep chopping. They say that they've done. We gotta get into this. Otis JAYU exactly what? Who? And why? But Michigan State is going to have a ball game, and let's just get right into the I Hop Game Day Summaries brought to you by I Hop The two by two by two breakfast combo equals one delicious meal.

Enjoy two pancakes, two eggs your way, and two pieces of bacon for only five dollars only at I Hop. Hurry in and enjoy this deal for a limited time, guy, and then only price and participation may very restrictions do apply. Gentlemen, what side of the ball you want to start off with? I say, before we start off, if there's a question that you and I were talking about, okay, okay, okay, all

right, there's there's we gotta settle this. Because Jay, you and I were talking in champagne after before the victory, as a matter of fact, and there was a question about relieving oneself during the game, and I said, you know, you know, you got to go to the bathroom you know, no big deal. And Jay was like, what do you mean, just need to go in your pants? We're talking number ones and I said, he said, he looked at me like I was. I'm looking

at him like he's We're looking at each other like each other. It's crazy, And I'm saying, no, no, we just don't get down like that. He made it sound as if it was very common. So we asked you, ohis if you have to go during the football game, do you go to the locker room or you just go right there on the sideline? Oh, on the sideline all day back then. Back then we didn't

have those pop up tens where you can disguise yourself. We had the trainers or you know, holding up the town and then you're peeing in the open trash. Can I know for a fact though some of our office in line was just peeing the pants. Just what we're talking about, right in the pants, that's absolutely not possibly. I learned because I was I was. I was the guy that I would run to the restroom, to the locker room. But then talking to the linemen, they were like, hey,

we just do it. And like talking to Pete Clifford, all those guys, they just pee and then take a bottle of water spray in front of their pants. So I did it. So are you saying you started doing it? Yeah, that's why you not that way. That is exactly why you that way like I did in my defense, I've heard that in like three or four times. Many game. Would you do if you're on the side, like in full uniform garded game, you go to the locker room likes or do you be just just go in your pants? You guys?

Tell us again follow us. Click the link in our bio to follow on whatever your social media platform oh choice is Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok. Click on that link tree and then find us on either platform, follow us, subscribe, do all those things because you're going to get links to ticket giveaways and much much more. But also we need to know why or if how what it's blown my mind that you would relieve yourself if the urge, if nature calls you during the course of the game,

what do you do? This is kind of like Mark Slater f the ESPN analyst used to be an offensive lineman for the Denver Broncos, had about forty eight surgeries on his knees. They call him big stink. It's probably why, you know, but uh, we just need to be confident. You need to be confident that you have hydrated to where you know your pee is going to be clear. Now that's why so much. Oh my gosh, no, man, like, there's no way I always feel comfortable doing that.

I can't know. You can't know, like like it's it's tough for something some of us like, Okay, you're in the pool, Jay, you brought this up. You're in the pool at the you know, in the swim up bar. He says, I'm camping out for eight hours. I'm not moving. No, I'm a people. I'm a pool pier. I don't let me in your pool. I'm a pool pier. That's why I don't like public pools, because I know there are people like me when it's cold and it gets real warm when you do be in the floor.

Well, ever since like ever since the movie the movie Grown Ups, when they did the blue thing. So now when I go to a public pool and I feel like, you know, I want to pee, this is I want to I will I will start, I'll get it, let a little pee and then run to the across it, so in case the blue thing comes up, I'm not around it. And then I see there's no blue thing. Then I'll just let it go. The blue thing you mean the red dye. It's whatever, people, the blue thing, grown up

blue blue. That's where I got from. Oh god, man, we started, we started. We started this as this episode off of that question. Man, incredible. People want to know what would you do? Put in the comments sudden change happens to run in the locker room and the defense picks the ball off and run into the one yard line. You know that's too true time, I can't risk it. They say, when you stop, you stop in mid p That shows that you have a strong core.

Yeah, so you just stopped. I mean you won't. You won't get out in time. You running like, let it, let it go. Take about the gatory bottle spray the front of you. Good to go, and nobody I said. NFL player last last on Sunday pooped himself, right, DK metcalf. Yeah, and I had a teammate with the Jeff Larry Izzo. He took a dump on the sidelines of the Patriots of the game, Bill Belichick gave him the game ball. See, I wouldn't go that

far. I would not go that that's a bit much. Yeah, what about if you know you got you gotta you gotta got him take you gotta pass gas. But it one't gas. We digressed to the point of no return. I mean, here we go. This is Sparta, this is spared to talk about everything. You know, we're getting real close here, everybody, you know, we're it's like being on the couch with the fellas

in the locker room, smelling room. But since we're talking about hot and crazy situations here, Otis is placed in one right this week here when this game, isn't he no comment? Yeah, you talk about those house divided situations that what you're talking about. Absolutely m hmmm. Hey, we know who pays, We know who pays the checks to get yourself, So we gotta be where the loyalty lies is, where your bills are paid, and

we know who that's happening through. So all I gotta say is that we're good and uh but just know we better take their business because that's the South, that's the South Jersey in her she ain't gonna let it live down. She's gonna let it down. So uh yeah, we will see on Saturday. Yeah. Man, those Jersey girls don't take no you know what, man, Jersey stand up, j stand up. I said. Clan. The fame her claning. The fame was, you know, we beat y'all

when I was a senior high school. She was a freshman and that was the Ray Rice Days and we went over there and I believe we were ranked or they were ranked one of the two were. Yeah, we were, and they spoiled us and they stormed the field. And that was her first experience as a as a college student athlete running track for Rutgers. And uhr. Her mom was there with her and she wouldn't let her run out on the field. So yeah, she would let her run out of the field.

I was like, oh yeah, Well, for those that don't know, we're talking about Otis's wife, Yes, yes, and we will he we will prevail. We will prevailed. Now now, she was ecstatic when Sheiano came back. You know that little what he went to the league didn't didn't suffice. They were calling for him to come back and uh, the Chiano magic. They thought that, uh it'll be better than what it is right now. But you know it sounds like he's doing some good stuff.

It's kind of like where we're at four or five, but waiting on the recruiting class to come in and you know, do the Shiana way. But we all know Shianto is a guru and those special teams and those guys play. So let's let's deep dive, man, let's get it done. I know you put me on the spot. Man. I didn't want to say not name correctly, but you know, you know, you know what it

is. Look. Look, Rutgers rings in the eighteenth ranked defense in the nation, only give enough about three hundred and ten point six yards per game. They're nine and oh since twenty twenty when they do not give up a turnover in the game. So we've got some interesting things. They also have a good punter too. We've got the best punt of the nation. There's there's this number four. So this is kind of an oddly evenly matched type

of game here that we're going to experience. Guys. Yeah, absolutely it is. You hit the key points there and Otis alluded to it earlier. Coach Cianos a special Teams guru. He takes pride in that he puts He takes time you know, for special teams in practice, it's not something that just gets breezed and glazed over. This is something that they take time and

they put schemes in there. So special teams is going to be a key factor in this game coming up here because these these two teams that you know, Rutgers coming in with a very good defense, Michigan State's offense is starting to find its strides right now. Michigan State's defense is starting to play well getting key pieces back. So special teams is going to play a factor in this game. Yeah, I mean, special teams wins the ball games.

Man, It's kind of the way you kind of turn the tide. It's like when you know you don't mess up on special teams and you take advantage of what you get. You know, I want to see a part return return for a touchdown with that boy reid Man. And we know when you score apart return the way it develops because you see it in the making and then you just split on that sideline and it almost seems like he's going one hundred miles per hour. I mean, we gotta do we gotta do some

big things on that end. But you know, we look at their offense compared to ours. Man Like, you got two quarterbacks who got a total of twelve interceptions collectively, and they kind of split in time and you just don't know the rhyme or reason of They're just trying to figure out which guy wakes up, you know, appropriately to win the game or show up. And so, you know, I feel like our defense, what we're playing now is how do we how do we balance and how do we game plan

against two quarterbacks? You know, one brings to certain advantages and has strengths and other has weaknesses, but you know they kind of flip and flop. And so you know, we're gonna take a lot of that film that was last last weekend against that team down the road and see how they answered the call, because it did start out last se last week. It started out a little bit battle back and forth, and then you know you start to see you know, Rutgers unraval and so you know, I'm looking forward to,

uh seeing them come into town. And uh, you know there's some history with our coaching staff with mil Tucker and and and Chiano and you know with the mantra and we all know, you know, we grey Ciano apparently started this this slogan of keep chopping, and you know, we as a Spartan nation have keep chopping as our mantra too. And so you know that's a battle of the two guys that use the same slogan. So the battle

of the job, you know what that should be a wager man. They should call each other to say, whoever wins this game gets to continue. They win the trademark, and you award that to that winning coach. Keep on chopping. Whoever wins, gotta gotta meal at the feet and give it, give the keep chopping to them, something like that. You never know, make it interesting, man. So so you have you know, we'll think it's been trademarked by Rutgers that keep keep chopping and then chopped Life has

been trademarked by Michigan State. Is that correct? Goers correct? Yeah, yep. So you know we got to keep We got chop live trademarked, chop in with I N is trademark from uh from Ciano and uh, you know it's one of those things that you know, that's what we've you know, last year was like that's where it developed, right like we kept saying that as whatever hit hit us adversity or whatever came our way was like just keep on going. So you know you kind of see us now. We

still make the signal. You know, you're still with chop chop chop, right, and you know that's the crazy game we we we live in and playing in athletics of you know, working in the this side of the of the the business is that you know, licensing. Licensing is very prevalent. It's very uh at the forefront of kind of all that we do. You know, people don't really realize that, you know, spartan nation, like the Nike wear that you wear or the logo that you see with the helmet,

it means power and branding in the play for it. So you know when you see things that are say not knockoffs, but knockoffs and like illegitimate swag that people are you know, utilizing the marks and logos without having proper channels or approvals. You know, that's what you do with on a day to day here. So you know, yeah, that's where we're at right now. Yeah, that's not good. Can't use those marks and logos and marks if you haven't paid for them correctly. If I'm hearing you right,

yes, absolutely. I mean, looking at trademark behind you just right, you know it's the trademark circle. Yeah, at the bottom of the bottom of the spartan looking at TM that is trademarks, right, and so yes, that's right Nike, Nike. You ain't gonna see that spart of helmet on a on a n Adidas or an under Armour or a new Balance.

You know, it's Nike through and through. So you just you know, you start learning that an educating square a nation of you know, don't infringe on the rights, you know, play in that lane, Stay in the lane or we'll be calling. Don't want to get that call, you know, because as we talk more about the actual game a week ago, Rutgers actually did leave the school down the road seventeen to fourteen at be half.

I saw some of that game. We watched it, and after the half it seemed like the wheels kind of came off and Michigan goes on the score. I think it's thirty eight unanswered points. Korm had a big day, obviously, Donavan Edwards and you know, everybody seemed to have a pretty explosive output on the road in Pascataway, New Jersey. This time New Jersey.

The guys Rutgers has to come into East Lansing. We're looking for an electric environment to make it tough on the guy in the scarlet night uniforms to come in in the high neon game. My first noon kickoff, I believe of the year. Yeah, absolutely, it's a noon kickoff. Spartan Nation. We're gonna need you to wake up early, go to what's that it's your favorite time? Yeah, yeah, it's a new game. You get to

eat. You wake up early, you go to ihop, you get some breakfast, You go to the game, you watch the game, you have dinner with your family after you can hit up ricks in the land shark after dinner with your family. How great is that? Doesn't get any better than that, Spartanation. We're gonna need you this this game. You know, I understand. You know it's not the season that we wanted. Right now we're four and five team, but we're still vying for a bull game for

bull eligibility. So Spartan Nation has to come to the woodshed. Pack the woodshed. If you leave the game with voice, if you leave the game and you can still talk, your voice isn't hurting. You did not do your part as a Spartan fan. So we're gonna need you to come out and show out. And and like I said, the players feed up their energy and that you you yell give them something to give you something to yell about. Yeah, hey, get that. I have dinner too, right

otis Yeah, I haven't had it a long time. But you know that that that those pancakes and the French tilts slaps to something real. Man, that bacon you already know, so you know I always want to know read this, you know, two for two for two, but you know I

got enough one for you. Man, hold on, listen by two by two breakless combo equals one delicious meal and joy, two fluffy buttermilk pancakes, two eggs your way and two pieces of increye smoke bacon or two sausage link Sizzle to perfection for only five dollars only at I How that's enough to put a smile on even Jay's play purty in and enjoy this deal for a limited times only at Dying In the only price participation made. Very restrictions apply.

Sizzle bacon, Maybe sizzle, You're gonna sizzle? What's gonna have to sizzle this week, is Michigan State's offense. They're gonna have to continue that sizzle. Uh astray the the old line. Have you played well last week against Illinois. They're gonna have to continue that, have that trend because I saw them actually mauling guys moving downfields in Unisons. The big thing, you know, when you run these outside zones and everything, all the all the linemen

moving together in Unison's coach Stoutlin, the great uh old line coach. He used to call it elephants on parade. And you know that's a sight to see if you're a running back, seeing those linemen, you know, go out in front of you like that. So Michigan State's offense is gonna have to run the football this game. You know, shoot for that over the hundred one hundred yard Russian Marcus. What that's gonna do is gonna continue for Jay Johnson, open up the playbook, do a lot of unique things with

what the offense. If we can run the football, that's the only way that we were able to throw the ball and do things and hit different receivers like we did last week. Yeah, I mean, you look at the Rutgers offensive tack man, like their number one receiver last last last weekend had a great day. You know, he didn't convert him into touchdowns, but you know he had eleven receptions for one hundred and eighty four yards. And so you look at that where this guy's getting open and he's giving a target

to the quarterback, regardless which quarterback we're going to face. And so from our defensive secondary standpoint is how do we eliminate the main target and allow the other guys to have to you know, pick up from where they're leaving off from, you know, setting down their number one coin or number one receiver.

And then we talk about big plays, like I feel like we sometimes will kind of get so complacent when we're playing you know, these types of teams where you got to eliminate the big plays or the third downs where you got them locked, locked and loaded, and then something happens where quarterbacks slips

out, throws along pass, or gets the first down. How do we eliminate those big plays and get those guys to hunt the ball to us on a daily weapon And Jayden Reid, I feel like as a defense, we haven't utilized that last line of weapon weaponry that we have in Jayden Reid in

our part return game. And so it's gonna be interesting seeing how Scottie and the defensive defensive staff draw up a game plan that we don't make sure that these guys truly like you know, get wings or you know, try to be heroic when it comes to truly having a guy who you know, we never not say never heard of, but came out and truly bought out against us versus. Like, let's let's keep the main thing the main thing and

play spartan football and carry over from last weekend into this weekend. Yeah, as you guys talked about earlier, offensive line had its best day last week on the road in Champagne, and you expect to see more of the same. Now, all that's gonna do is build more confidence. You had Brandon Baldwin get another start. I think he started the first game of the year and this was his second start against Illinois at left tackle over Jared Horse.

Now he seemed to have a lot of success, great feet, very athletic player, playing with a lot of confidence. And then Brian Green, you've seen him the transfer from Washington State, rotate in there at guard a little bit. When you say JD been playing and mc kerrett kind of move around a lot themselves. The one main stage, the two main stage. You see Nick Saint Mac at the center position and also Spencer Brown over at the

right tackle. They've been doing a phenomenal job. So just do what they can to open up those lanes and make sure that Michigan State can pound that ball, especially running it with Jalen Berger. Be it Elijah Collins or Jared Bassard who had the eleven yard touchdown against Illinois, who looked to be a lot better, a lot fatter. Guys are getting better. You're seeing the development of all the different players on the offensive side of the ball. You

can clearly see it. Peyton Thorn has to be him, you know, as you talk about in the special teams game, Jadeen reed there was no way he could receive a punt last week because of the wind it was. It's impossible. It's really difficult for anybody to feel that he kicks. Expect him to get in the game and get in the mix this week. If they don't kick away from him. They do have a very good punter.

So let's see if jade Wee can get his hands on that ball and be the playmaker that we all know that he can be and get that big return and need to see that in front of the home fans, guys in front in the woodshed this weekend. Our long snappers better be ready too, because last week Michigan blocked the punt for it. I'm sorry, Rutters blocked the punt against Michigan for a touchdown. So our long snappers better have their stuff ready ready to go. Get that snap off to our best special teams player

there in in Bryce and get that ball out of there. So, like Otis says Ghianos, a special team's guru, he's licking his chops watching our long snappers. Yeah. Question for you, Jay, you is what are

you what are you coaching up with the long snappers. You know, I'm not saying you are specialist in snapping, but like, what are you going to tell the snappers during practice this week to get that that timing off the off the ground to to our partner quicker, What are you gonna what are you gonna coach them up on. I'm gonna first tell him, listen, they can't cover you, they can't hit you. All We're telling you to

do is snap the ball and run down field. So get your head down right, get your get your grip, your release point, come through, follow through on your release because that's what's gonna control the punt, to keep it from going high and keep it from going low. You have your aim point for your punters, the belt buckle, So the belt, the waistline, there's where you want to get that ball there and your time and the snap has to get back to the center within one point three seconds, so

you have to do that, and the release points huge. It's coming from a personal protective personaltive those long snappers ever, I mean, that was just false information. You just gave everybody that information. Never you will never talk to the long snapper. You don't even know his name. You don't want to know that, you know. Let me tell you a long snapping story. We had a long snapper at Michigan State who I'm not going to use

his name. When I was on the scout team red Shirt, and so we would just say to heck with this, we go and full out on this block to make a name for ourself. And we had this long snapper. He would be like, we'd be down in the stands ready to go. And he looked at you be like, yo, yo, chill out, chill out, I'm working on a new snap. I'm like, bro, how many new snaps you got? Snap the ball back there. I'm coming after you there. So that's one of the things too against long snappers.

They want that little easy pass out. Long snappers and kickers have no mercy for mister culker. You don't play with the kickers and long snappers. Absolutely. If you look at if you look at Rutgers season, uh, and you look at the scores, I mean you look at where you know you have wins in the win columns, you know they're only winning by you know, a touchdown or two points. The only really blow out they had was against Wagner and so uh they Boston College scraped out with one point.

They were beating the Braska or lost in Nebraskat by one point. Iowa played them really tough. But you know, I think what you look at how they're scoring and faring against opponents is that they're going to fight to the end. And you gotta truly come out on top and truly fight to the end to the zero zero and you're gonna get the best of Rutgers, Like you're gonna get the best, the best effort every time you play these guys,

and like every time I've seen in person. You know, there was one trip that we took out there and this is when they had carew and uh, you know we went out there and we I mean, we almost fumbled that that game and it was like came down to the last second when you know, if they had a quarterback that year, they would have won that

game. And so you got to continuously fight into the end. And I feel like we need to carry, like I said, the momentum from last week, start fast, finished stronger and quicker, and truly manage the game in the time of possession. U let's strategically conventionally win this game this weekend. No, totally agreed. And for those historians of the Bunch, if you can remember and Mel Tucker's first game as a Spartan head coach, he

faced the Scarlet Knights in twenty twenty season opener in East Lansing. It was a wire a wire game that Rutgers beat the Spartans thirty eight to twenty seven. That was a great Ciano led team there. Greg Ciano is two and two versus Michigan State. As a head coach of the Scarlet Knights, gentlemen, as we prepare for this game, as it's fast approaching this Saturday, what are your final thoughts? Yeah, my final thoughts is michigan'st they have

to do what they did last week. They've got to control the ball offensively, control the time of possession to get their defense from rest. The defense have to come out firing around Coach Hazleton. You know, keep that scheme. Put guys in positions to be successful. Guys that are there, step up, make a play, make a name for yourself, and you don't

just go out there and continue to play Spartan football. Yeah. I like what you said there to you is, you know, I want everyone to be flying around, and when you fly around and you make mistakes, they're easy to be overlooked. Now if you fly around, you're making plays like we did last weekend. Like, let's bring that atmosphere and that vibe back home and let Spartan Nation take full advantage in embracing and having a great time

back in Spartan, Spartan Stadium, the Woodshed. I think we start fast when we win the toss. I truly hope that we accept it and get on offense and dry down the score first. Uh. People might not agree with me on that one, but you know, I feel like we can set the tone. If we set the tone of offense, you know, we know the defense can truly match it. And so I'm looking forward to a very high intense energy game knowing that we're playing our first noon game uh

this season. And let's just pray that we have some great weather. But it's nothing like a nice cold, fall brisk morning when you're tailgating and coming out there at Sparta Stadium in noon. If the sun breaks in the clear skies, it's a great day for Spartan football. Baby, without question, the one guy's flying around. You want a cold, brisk football Saturday afternoon, and you definitely do not want Jayu Culchrick in your pool. Gentlemen,

it was a phenomenal show. That's gonna put a bow on it for all of us. This is Sparta. I'm Jason Straighthorn for Otis Wiley and Jayu Culchrick. There you go. Do not let jay you and your pool, good God blessed, go go away.
