Hey, what's up everybody. We're gonna do this short and sweet show and uh, you know we're gonna get it in. So this is gonna be one of those quick shows. We're gonna talk about a few things real quick. Look at this out the way, Stray and Swerve are out doing visits with their boys. So they're around the country parts unknown. Uh, you could probably follow if you follow them to the social media, know what exactly where they are. But yeah, we will be doing a lot of audience

participation today. But let's just let's get to the man of the hour, Man Jay Batt. Dude is head here. He had a good press conference. I will say that he came a lot of energy, probably had some of the better energy of an administrator we've had hireder damage you in a few years, honestly, Like, what's your opinion about them? Like, what did you think if you saw the press conference? I liked I'm gonna echo Swerve. I liked that he said that we're going to paraphrasing here

that we're going to get championships. He made that emphasis like we're gonna, of course, graduate student athletes and we're gonna, you know, get a good education. Basically we're gonaet championships. Appreciate that he said, you know, we're gonna take care of the sports, but football is gonna be a priority. Appreciate that. I love that because we definitely have been long suffering. I was gonna say long stuffing. Long suffering

is like an extreme. We've been We've been down a little bit, you know, we've been down a little bit. Spartan family and oh hey, hey, Marine, how you doing, Hey what do you hate? Marine? How you guys doing? Thanks for joining the chat. We love you, We love you. Don't forget to hit the like button. But it's a yeah, man, j J Back comes from a good background. Me and everyone's been saying to that nauseam. But like I'm what

you guys, what's your guys opinion? It's a like, I don't want to put too much on it, but like I know, some people are like, he's gonna save everything, and some people are like, just another if he came from Georgia tech, And I mean, both of those things could happen, like you know, you know, but he's a good track record. I shouldn't say both of those except he's a good track record. Man, he's making. He made He raised a lot of money at Georgia Tech, a

smaller school, even though it's a Power five. But it's not a power four. It ain't. It ain't Michigan State tell you that, hey, Woody, good to see you back in actually good to see you, good to see you what he in the chat? So I mean, obviously if he can raise like over seventy million at Georgia Tech and like a short amount of time he did, I can't wait to see what he does here, right. That's the big thing. We need money. We need money at

a high level, like we talk about every week. You hear it, not even just that's the news that mister State every they got money where they're doing, like I'm sure we have them. Well, I'm sure we have good amount of money, but we need more. So this guy when he comes around, it's like what is it at the at the press conface yesterday right before it was reported that he had already made a message for fundraising, like right before, like right before the event, which that's

sintuitive sectuitiveness. He doesn't even start working here for like another week or so, what's marine saying? I could tell you that I've had some fundraising contact in lest twenty fours that I've had a long time that you haven't had a long time. Okay, I like that. I like that.

What case say more say more marine, But I'm telling you man, like there was rumors about, you know, maybe the Spartan Fund and a few other things kind of went to the wayside, like it wasn't as aggressive like now I got called by the Spartan Fun a few times. Obviously is an alumb but you know, it was just kind of like, you know, sort of Spartan Fun. It's normal.

It's not bad, not good, but now it just I know, hopefully the fan bases older folks can get behind this because you know a lot of people who I see talking online and being negative about the way NIL has gone or like the older generation because they're like, why can't things be the way they were before? And I understand that change, change is scary, change is different, but we need to get behind us because statistically, older folks got they locked up most of the wealth and the money.

So we need y'all to open them pockets if you want them championships like the good old days too, Like you want an actional championship in football, you want the big trophy. You want the big trophy in basketball. You need to open up them pockets. We need to be able to We don't want to be the brides Midi anymore for you know, Jabari Parkers of the world. You know what I mean. We want to be able to keep Devin Booker, you know, in the state of Michigan

going to Michigan State. We want to be able to drop them checks to keep them short thing players here, or to go outside the state, drop a bag or two, grab somebody who we knows a different difference maker. You know what I mean. I'm not saying drop two three million on some kid who had a good year somewhere. But you know, you don't quite know we're talking about like Cooper Flag at Duke, they said he got twenty eight million in nil for a year. I mean, that

may sound crazy, but they almost won national championship. Now, let's Duke right that they're gonna put money into their basketball program. Look, you've already Lewis in the video that he puts that. Yeah, yeah, definitely, definitely you're right. But twenty eight million, that's we gotta be able to do something like that if that may sound crazy, but that's gonna be cheap in a few years. I'm telling you it's there. And people talk about like this dorn and

fatigue this and that. I mean, that might happen, But like I said, I've met I brought this up another conversation with somebody. You know that there's people who have like, let's think about let's look at like gambling, people who know they shouldn't be spending no money, those laxino every day because they think they're gonna hit it big. People who like anything that's addictive, like winning, winning, the thought of winning, the thought of giving over the top is addictive.

Like shoot, man, if I was if I had money like that, I'd be dropping millions on the athletic department. I won a championship, Like that's the way. Why else would you be a fan if not to be not to see the big trophy, not to see the winning. So I digress to get back to j Pat. The point about Jpat, he's great at fundraising. He seemed really like. He also brought up a point of having building relationships like he really does. Seem like he gets in the trenches with his folks to try to build and I

appreciate that that leadership style. It's really it's really how you hold people accountable because when they see you doing it, it makes it easier for them. They follow his lockstep, like like any type of organization or any team, like you know, they say the old axiom, that's what you

said that the players reflect their coach. Well, your athletic department's going to reflect the A D. And if he's coming out here first press conference with good energy talking about you know, we and championships and what we're going to do and putting football's priority, you got your national championship basketball coach coming over there giving them big ups, talking about raising money in NIL with a smile on his face like this may be the first time is

O came out and said something about NIL. It didn't immediately double back and say, you know, grumble about it. Like he seemed happy. He felt it felt like the possibilities for him cross his by, like oh wait a minute, we're gonna get some money. We're gonna get some serious money. Now. People will say that, you know, Tom can get any type of any type of bag if you wanted to, for real, for real, if you needed it. But he's

look at it this way. Should you have to go to that type of situation you had to pull those cards. It should just be people throwing money into a bag for you, you know what I mean? Like it shouldn't be shouldn't be nothing. And so she'd be like, what we need? We need this kid when to get over the top. Let me check the bank. Oh, we got it. I gotta call up by because people are already funded it. That's where he needs to be at. Let's rite Donald, the bat era has begun, go grit. I like that

the bat era. Okay, we said we got some positivity. We got some positivity. Man, it's it's it's feeling good man, it's been Yeah, we do need to see some stuff he needs to come through. We like that first move where he was doing the fund raising thing before the message before the press conference. That's good, but we need to see some action. But it feels good. This feels like a good hire. This feels like like we are

getting back on the good foot. And I I'm not gonna say anything else about because I don't want jinks it. Let's see anybody else in the check and opinion on Jay back before we move on. Yeah, let me see here. It was the next thing. So, like I said, it's gonna be short and sweet. Less we get some participation. Moneyball once again, twentieth year. Watch your favorite players from Michigan State. And you know former players and players from around the area coming who played in the pros are

still playing the pros. This might be the summer league June twenty fourth through July. Let me put that back up through July thirty first. Now, I love Moneyball. I remember taking my little cousins up there with Miles and them. We're playing in Michigan State. It's a great time. It's free. We actually got some highlight film of Moneyball from when I went down there last summer that you could see

up on the channel. And some people say it's like there's no defense whatever, But you see what guys are working on. You see their game. There's times where people go to Moneyball and Iszo or coach might tell this is hypothetical. I'm not a coach, so I don't know what they say exactly. Where there's like hypothetic like hey I don't want you, I don't want you, like probably something the Cohen card be like hey, Cohen. We know you want to dunk, we know you can. We love it.

We want to see someone. We want you to work on your game, work on your ball handling, work on your shooting, and you might see him just do that at moneyball. You're like, why is he not dunking more? Because he's working on his game. And it might look really good some games, it might look good all summer. It might not look good at all. But people are working. They're showing you what they're working on, and that's always interesting to see people develop, Like development is key Man,

especially this sill every year. But I know some people were a little skeptical about the transfers Is brought in and Trey Ford and I believe the other guy's name was Caleb. Forgive me for I can't. I can't find his last name. If someone in the chats wants to throw me. The other other kids who transferred in, he's like six seven, small Ford power fork type, big shoot the three. I saw the film on these kids. They're

they look legit. They're bigger, kids are stronger as though obviously it was like, hey, that was our main weakness this year, Like when we played usc U E l A and of course Auburn they had bigger they had a bigger guard forward situation going on, and that was

really what took us out our game. So like what this past year, little if I can you know, break down a little bit this past year for those who really are in our basketball heads, we had a we had a good depth situation and we were beating people in waves. We were all tough in people and it was beautiful. I mean, if you had some good bigs, you might be able to do something with our biggs for a little bit, but we'd wear you down because like,

what's that going to do? Back to the basket. You know you're gonna you're gonna dalk on us for two and we we run up and down the court getting fouled and we're getting three. I mean, that's just mathematics, you know what I mean. We were destroying people, destroying them, especially especially scum Caleb Green, Thank you, Donald, thank you. On a marine what you say? Moneyball was the first proof that Kenny Goings finally had a three point shot on Marine. Let me tell you something, God, that was

a special season. So let me tell you how good Cashius Winston was y'all for those who want to go down memory lane. Cashus Winston was so good. He lost two first round picks, and he took a team of starting back court. The starting team lineup of himself, depending on who was healthy, was Langford, Matt McQuaid or arms at the two or three and a walk on and Kenny g Zion Williams career ender extraordinaire and who plays, and of course Xavier Tillman. He's the only man on

earth who has more kids than me right now. Incredible, incredible, like he look think about that. That's how good Cashus Winston and those guys were. I'll just say Cashus Winston, he took a team where people thought we would have no chance. Team was injured going into the tournament injured. Be they what they said was the best duke team ever with a walk on shooting a three. Tell me where they do that at God, that was a great season. I love that. Just so sad they ran out of gas,

but it loved it. Marlon, what you're saying, what a fan? Y'all know the vis Yeah, we do know the virus man. Well, come coming in, let me see poo what you talking about. I remember when Tom tumb first came and it was summer aim high for Moneyball and he looked all word than in the games real love. Yeah, Thomas Temas shooting threes. Thomas shooting a lot of threes and Moneyball that I think one summer and I was just like, oh my god, we finally he's shooting threes. Is gonna be amazing. We're

gonna We're gonna get to the next level. And he didn't really do that during the season. Let me hold on, let me get some of my my blas. You know, slow sipping, that's that's the screen name right now, my producer Shine, right now, that's a slow sipping you know. This is this is what we're doing, the short and sweet show. Let me see what else? Pooh said. What's your thoughts on people saying Michigan has a better roster this year than MSU. Who are you referring to football

or basketball? Can you put that in the I'm in retire five? Absolutely? Donald, Absolutely. Matter of fact, somebody everybody put their favorite memory of Cashus in the chat. Let's talk about that for a second. I still play the dude every but what he once a month at least once a month, at least at least once a month. Crazy game. I remember my son was born the day

after that game, my first time oldest boy. I remember talking to my wife after winning that and I was just like, can you hold him in one more week Something in my spirit told me if he had just stayed one more weekend, we would win the national championship. I still think about that. God, that was who what are he? Oh? Yeah, Marine, Yeah, it was just that was a special time. Oh you know, I'm gonna go

back to Poo's question. I'm assuming because we were talking about basketball ball that she was referring to the basketball roster. You know, I don't know, So I don't know to who people roll off the balls. And that's just the honest answer. We don't know. We don't know. We were supposed to. They're supposed to have a better rosters this year. You see what happened. We beat this, We beat the brakes off them. We dogged walk Michigan twice. We probably

dog walked in the third time. What he said, Matt dunk and back this That that was that was a sweet move. I remember that. I remember that Quato Quato Cuato was a was a mad man dude. He was. He was everything that. Let's go back here for a second. Matt McQuaid was like everything Russell Bird was supposed to be. If anybody remembers Russell Bird, Russell Bird was supposed to be one of the good, the best shooter in America. Didn't do that when he came here. I'm not talking

bad about him as a person. We just talked about basketball skills and everybody running. Tell somebody, I'm talking crazy, But yeah, man, Matt McQuay came in. He did his job. Man. I think it was Who's where's he working on? I know he was working for Michigan State for a little bit, working under his I think he's another he's an NBA right now coaching. He might be. I did a double check on that. Someone in the chat tell me. But yeah, man, that was a special season. We can get back to that.

We were the lead eighth this year. So don't don't let people tell you that, Oh we got some bad transfers. We don't know, but on paper we got bigger. That was our That was our main weakness outside of three point shooting. The guys they brought in are there was I think they're both at least thirty five thirty six percent plus three point shooters, your Brian three point shooters.

They're taller, they're they're both like though I think for trade Ford is uh at least at least as tall as Acres, if not taller, So he's at least six six four sixty five. They say he's like a muscle perpon. What do you want? Man? Like, we're trying to fill in the holes. I mean, of course you could spend the money, but like I said, unless you're going to spend the money on absolute sure things like there's got Look what happened to Louisville. They paid some kid three

million and he ended up not being that good. I mean, I want us to spend money now, but I want to spend money on you know, some kid who got upset, who was like a who's like a top, like a five star or whatever, but he's not. He don't want to go to league right now, or something happened, he had a bad situation and we know he's good. Pay him the money come missions of state. That's what I want to see, or we see a sure fire like Cooper flag. If Duke is paying twenty eight million to

get Cooper flag. Damn it, pay somebody thirty million. Who's the top gonna be one number one pick in the NBA draft. If you know what's a sure thing, spend the money because you're gonna make the money back with the commercials, the games being on TV. Every every game you got on TV, not on the big ten networks. Sometimes you know, then we got that strange Big ten plus situation or Peacock, they gonna put us on the

Prime Show. I mean, I guess Peacock would be Prime, but I'm talking about with that we can you know the money's going to be there. What is Ron Ron saying? I think im as you missed on maybe two titles. The one we lost to Yukon Absolutely that was heartbreaking. When that season Keith shared is his wrist hard? Do I remember when that happened against North Carolina? I was like, we just lost the national championship. That was in the regular season. I just knew it. I should probably say

it out loud because words have power. But and the one is a bench. Jared Jackson at Bridges in the twenty sixteen was favored by the most to win, then lost to Tennessee. That that Jared Jackson one Ron Is. There's a lot of attention with that. Jared has otienly said multiple times that he just had a bad game that day and he would have benched himself, and the stats proved that. But like it's that's not even all the way true. Is everyone was bad that day, like

no one getting a shot. If I could check the stats, I'm not gonna do that right now, we live on the show. I'll got nobody else talking. Was it was like got three born basionitis had to be like terrible, Like we weren't doing anything. We could attack zone and like you've seen since Thenzo has implemented better zone offense because we haven't been able. We haven't got hit by like that that that paus On offense like that since then. But it just that was that was kind of heartbreaking.

That was sole crushing. But you live me learn, is what you say. I met that team back to Miles Bridges here in Hawaii. I went to the practice. Okay, okay, well you see hey Steve, Hey, Steve, how you doing, how he's doing? How you doing? Cool? Cool? Yeah? Man? A lot of people still talk about that about that Jaron thing. But you know, speaking of Jaron. He's he missed what a three hundred and twenty five million dollar

contract because of because of votes? All star votes are all NBA votes now, isn't correct me if I'm wrong? Isn't all NBA vote on by the media. So like people who don't even play the game were able to get into his pockets. That's crazy, That's that's crazy. I think he lost twenty million dollars because of people other people, not because of his performance, because his performance warranted him to do well. But I don't I don't like that.

They gotta fix that. I'd be like, yeah, I need to know the names of the people who messed up and took up two undred million dollars on my pocket? Was Alito Jefferson. I hate that we as fans live on that Duke win, but we didn't win. A little jenrenalized forty million, not making all envy. I thought it was so what was it? His guaranteed contract was gonna go to three twenty five but now he's only gonna get like, what is it forty million? Because it was

it was still forty minute. I'm still pissed, like you ain't you gonna take forty million? For me off of some votes. I don't like that they got. I mean, how you read performance. I guess it's in the contracts you got all. That's that's still kind of I don't like it. And they say it was about one vote too. Don't tell me that. Keep that number to yourself. This said, I didn't get it. Don't tell me it's about one vote because now I'm gonna think about who the one

person was. But don't do that. Don't do that to me. Yeah, but but yeah, man, that's that's kind of it for tonight, folks, unless you guys got something else. But uh well, who who said that? Who said that? Right there? Who do y'all think was better? Denzel or Cashes? I think Cashes was Cashes did more with less. He proved he could do more with less. Denzel had a pretty pretty loaded team that he went with as his senior year because

Brent Forbes was the NBA player. He had Aaron Harris who was a pretty good player, Deontay Davis, he played. He had a cup of coffee in the league versus Cash is who the only person on the team who, like I said, he had he took a was a walk on made a walk up became a starter and they they got they got to the final four like only other person, only person like Cashes was a second round pick and exabered, and tell me what was the second round pick? Cashes is playing overseas right now, still

making money. Ex's still in the league. But Valentine had way more help. Uh let's see here, Valentine might have just had a great senior year, right his other three wasn't as good as Catches, you know, I mean Valentine had all right, he like it was steady improvement, like he started. I think some games since freshman year, like Spots places. So I'm poo pooing a Valentine. Valentine was

definitely a good player. But if we're gonna talk about like actual accomplishments when you're leading a team, when the Cash got the team and his junior year, he took it, he took as far as he can go. If it's like there's people this like they there was an ESPN statistical uh fake tournament when COVID happened to see who win that tournament and they picked in Michigan State ended

up winning. Like you're before you go to foul four and then you were the odds on possible what like it was you and Kansas were the statistical favorites to announced championship that year. If it wasn't for COVID, we might have got that second championship for izz. Oh you know, we could have had three championships in Michigan state. But we'll never know. That's the heartbreak of it. Stole the

whole season because because of a virus. That sucks. But I mean, I'm like, I'm not poop pulling a Valentine love it was Valentine. I'll say this Valentine had more tools than Cash is like Valentine was always flaired from triple doubles. Cash may have been crafty, he was probably I don't know if I could say he was a better creator because Zell was also the same year he was. He was cruel and it was going crazy. But I think that in terms of floor raising, Cashes was a

better floor raizer. And when you when you can raise the floor raises your margin of error. Like there's people who are like wildly like they have crazy potential, So your ceiling could be super high, but if your floor is also super low, that's too much variance. And Cassius wasn't given much variance, like we were beating the breaksaw people with cashes, like he could take over games like we don't forget now Michigan State holds the record. I

think they might still hold the record. And basketball they did at the time for largest comeback victory. It was against the same school. We have a football against Northwestern and we have it in basketball also against Northwestern, and Cassius was on that team that brought that had that comeback. So yeah, but what is it? Yeah, guys, I mean that's that's the news for the day. Uh. I just wanted to think, oh, slow sippus hold on Lettos like we ain't we ain't cutting we ain't shutting off the

show yet, slow sipping. People say, Izzo Imasu hasn't won since two thousand. Do you think it's good? Want to just gotta be luck or is it just hard to win more than people think. I think it is harder to win than people think. Isil even said that who who who got hurt on Cincinnati that year. He was like, if that guy didn't get hurt, that we might not have won two thousand. I agreed that. Oh thanks Steve,

Thanks Steve, Oh, now let it. He's gonna ask the question and leave all right, find out offans this and then I guess we can wrap it up knowing that's any other questions. It's hard, it's hard, and sometimes it can get in your own way. Like I remember when Keith shared Kenya Martin, thank you, thank you. That's what

it was. That was what tim. I didn't want to say it because that wasn't a hundred percent sure that year that Keith shared his wrist, that was a year that was that was bad luck when we ran to that but saw Scott the Skywalker. Okay, whati we ran to that? But Wall and Valentine's senior year saw with all the three point shooting in which I that was kind of like the foreshadowing of where college basketball was going to. Then we became the test subject for it.

What's another year? Uh? I mean it really wasn't like we didn't have a big chance No. Nine because North Carolina like they were stacked, but we were there. If you get to the championship game, you got a chance. Draymond's senior year was not junior senior year? What year was that? Was that? His junior year when Gordon Hayward fouled him and he didn't get the file. That was another opportunity. And it's just see things like that, little things out of your control, like that whole you can't

make the reps call foul for you situation. But we also we could also say we got to the final four is off a humbug a couple of times, you know what I mean. So like Travis Trice's senior year, that was a wild run. Travis Trice was actually could have died that season. I don't know if people know this, but he had like some type of like brain virus or something like they didn't know he was gonna play

basketball again. And then he just got better, like right before the season starts to play basketball and he played out of his mind, out of his f and mind. Got to the final four. That was crazy. Then we got beat by Duke. But you know it's just it's just a tass up. But you lowered, Like let's go back to the nil situation, and like how let's go back to j batt and Iszo the money and him? Now you know, like I don't want to throw a bunch of money around. It's easier to get the extra pieces.

I want to spend the money when you just got it, you know what I mean, Like, you ain't like, oh we need an extra couple of million, Let me call my guy. And then you got to call people and you get you know that relationships aren't a good when the ad is alreadyhidding up people's money in their pockets time after time after time after time. And now we got a big war chest. You don't got a call as often because you got the money. The group that is the fan base is raising the money. It's making

it easy. So now now I'm thinking, Now Isla might be like, I don't really think this kid, he might help us a little bit. He's asked for too much money. But then you know, maybe one of his assistants whispers, You're like, you know, you know, we got a good budget. You know, I think we can we can take a chance. We can take a chance. Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't. But now you've got an extra guy who even if there they say they think they're an elite player,

but they're just very good, very good. And you got a bunch of very good players that might be it. Man. You might just need to turn the key again, you don't know what could happen. Little uh. Travis Trice that year was a monster money raw pro. He had a monster moneybrow pro before the season. You see your two. I don't think I went to the Moneyball that year, but I'll take your word for it. But again, Moneyball, we talked about it. It's coming June twenty fourth of

July thirty first and Hold. This is Hold High School. So if you just put high school into your GPS for people who are trying to go, it is a good time. It's free, Joel, it's a good time. It's free. Take your kids there during the summer. If you look for something to do, you get to meet the players. They oftentimes will sign autographs. So I like your chat. Your son or daughter wants to go take a picture and get an autographed whatever they normally do it. They're good,

they're good kids. You know you can buy moneyball merch there. It's it's just something fun to do during the summer. It's now. If you're not near hole, like if you're in the Detroit area or something, you're gonna have to leave work early because the games start like at I think five six o'clock. It's a couple of games every night, like Tuesdays and Thursday night every night. But try to go to the first game. I will say that, try to go to the first game that is of the season.

That is normally when you will see this. Most likely you will see former players like Draymond has been there. I know Jabari Parker came one year. He wasn't a foreign player, but he just loved Michigan State. You will see former players, NBA players or whoever. People come from overseas and they'll come in and do their celebrity thing and play like you're getting that for free. Who can beat that? Hold on? Marine, got something to say? Fy

I just attended the Spartan Fantasy football camp yesterday. If you love MSU football as much as I do, please attend next year. It's such an awesome look from behind the scenes of our program. We will have to we will have to We'll have to throw that out there. Marine. But you know you're the coach, so you were probably like, you know, coaching the players, coaching the folks who are in the thing we know about you know about you, Marine, Little start six pm. Jabriar Parker pulling a show when

he came absolutely, thank you. Six pm. You gotta get there, gotta get there early because it fills up, and because traffic sucks, because if you're coming from where I live at six ninety six, is still crazy, absolutely cr I don't know why it's taken so long, but yeah, all right, all right, it's not. This is the slow and short and sweet. This has been thirty minutes, all right, y'all. All right, if less anyone else has anything else they want to ask to talk about, and we'll wrap it up.

I'm gonna give y'all ten seconds or until I finished this last little step. All right, It's been a great time.
