Look, let us know where you're watching us from. Go to that live chat because that's where the party is at. Guys, listen, we have to start off the show. We got a jam packed show. We've got an exciting guest because we got to we're talking about Midnight Man. That's coming up here as well, but we gotta start with otis

last weekend at the Crown Plaza Hotel. You're all welcome at the Plaza Hotel downtown. We gotta see the video. Let's let just go right to the video. If you're not, if you're listening it, you gotta go to YouTube. Check this out. You know your mind? Lea, They don't know mine, did you? Men, you don't need a person say they got t a handle as a handle and I and things don't help. The

easy racy can keep a boy, believe it. Hey, that was a knockout performance, like man, yeah, flowers, flowers, yeah, Lee, that was some good stuff. I'm time looking at it, man, I'm tired of looking at how the knees doing? You know, you know good good man? We uh, you know, first it was just holding up like man, I wanted to make sure you know how you do dances and you're out here like counting. I don't want to be like that where I was just trying to get it, you know, go get it.

And uh it was good because it's been a while not the dogs does stuff like the dance moves. Man, it's been a minute, it's been a minute, so I was just trying to breathe. Man, there's one there's one pause in where we like cats basically when we turn to each other and it gets like starts to go fast. She would she would go breathe because she knew I was like, forget, I was not bringing you like breathe, like we got one. But no, it was a good cause,

man, great cause. I enjoyed, uh joint supporting the local community care free medical. So they're trying to sign me up again. So we'll see, we'll see how it goes next time. I gotta get my my fundraising game back up. Man. We we lost the entire thing, but we got best stage present. So if it was people's choice for me the one. But next time I get the Uh look at your dancing, all right. I saw Mama Wiley in the chat, so that's my baby. I

love listen. That's that's that's some good stuff. It was. It's it took me back to the whole locker room days and you you're just dancing in the locker room. But now this is on the bigger stage. Graft really good stuff man. Like you said really good cause that you guys were you know, representing there, and you said you already signed up for next year, right yeah yeah, well no not yet. I didn't sign up. I said. I was like, yeah, you know, I'll come back.

But in a moment. Yeah, time time, Well, hold on you. It looks like with that hat on you might be in for it next year. All right, go ahead, you got you light on your feet too. No, yeah, but that's different there that boy going you ain't doing that? That was that was an awesome performance man, for real and wanted everybody to see that. I know it was two and a half

minutes, not that long, but definitely can show your athletic ability. There's a lot of people in the chat talking about, oh this is uh, you know, I thought I could dance do revised. I don't I would like to dance like that. Are I know, I don't know if you could do that one right there? Not many people in the chat hand,

but listen, moving on, man, that was great performance there. We got to give some Spartan honors out a little out of order on our program right here, but look we got to get some Spartan honors and guys volleyballs Taylor, hold them listen, let's look at it. We have it. She was first in points per set and second and kills percent in the Big as a Big ten freshman. Yeah, you got you know, from the

standpoint, if you if you see volleyball. We we got a little known fact of the day that you know, year of year, they're growing, they're they're following, and it's the program is getting that that notoriety back. That's uh. They used to have it back in the in the days when we were playing where they were winning the championships and hosting. So uh, I don't know if you saw. I mean, I know you guys covered it, but you know that Nebraska home game, you know they had it

was eighty eight hundred people. I mean, that's the most of been in a woman's volleyball game in the history. And so you know, think about who we got also hosted, like we're hosting number one Wisconsin at the end of this month. So congratulations to our freshman. That means that coach Leada has had great recruiting success and knowing that freshmen is getting those accolades in season.

So there's a lot of a lot of great players in the Big Ten and just for her to be able to be recognized as the first top freshman, that's good for our program absolutely, And you know this is great and welcome to the chat. By the way, mister State current receiving leader Mon Tony Foster's father joints to chat today, so thank you for joining, mister Foster. But soccer, both men and women's teams are ranked at the top twenty five. Only Big ten school to do that. Yeah, both these

teams are really taken off having great seasons so far. You know, it's really cool to see that the her team is, you know, coming back and putting on a show every time that this step on to to the to the pitch. As Brendan would say, uh there but uh, you know, beating you of them tying. That's really good anytime that you can do that, you know. So it's gonna be a really fun and interesting season

for these for both the men's and women's soccer team. If the games are really exciting, you know, and now the students are starting to go there. It's starting to create a very good atmosphere for the soccer team. And so something really cool to see. Speaking of soccer, also women's team, Reagan Dalton earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors. Every week they're climbing the ranks. Man, and I like it's weird because you know, you say, you know, they go rising, you know, obviously you're

climbing up the pole, and they're like climbing up the ranking polls. But when this this class, like this whole team like a bunch of go getters. Man. Like, if you ever see them off off the street, they're very business avy, like they are hungry for like the next moves of getting jobs and getting connected in the community and doing with you know, everything off the field, and which just kind of transitions to on the field. Like they are on attack as soon as that that game starts to the end.

So if you ever get a chance to, you have to actually come out and support both programs. But women soccer is on fire. So I'm glad we had hospital on too, because I feel like he's you know, as soon as you've been on, they just still continues to put that fire out there. And so they're on the road. Uh So cheer them on and that's uh they're playing Indiana right now. It's tie one to one in the second half, so uh tu in look at go Industry Sparks dot com,

check on the tracker, make sure you're cheering loud and proud. Follow them on social as well. Absolutely, man, you gotta follow everybody on socials and when you're talking about, you know, what's going on in other Olympic sports right now. Hockey's Nicholas Muller was named Big ten's second Star of the Week. Muller had a goal and three assists. Last Big ten gives out three stars for week in hockey, with Michigan and Wisconsin players grabbing the

other two. Yeah, you know, we big, big year in store for the hockey team. We had Coach Nightingale on the show. You know, it was very good. You know, we teased the gruff smarty there and then you know they were giving us some love the hockey team. So this is gonna be you know, hockey is gonna be one of the hottest tickets to come across in East Lanson, and rightfully so, because it's gonna

be exciting play on the ice. This year, they renamed the ice to Ron Mason Rink, so you know, just you know, paying homage to you know, one of the great coaches and he was also athletic director at Michigan State. You know, his family was able to be there to represent him and uh, you know, a great moment and the hockey team they're on the roll, so be ready, be ready. A lot of fun stuff ahead. Yeah, yeah, nine o'clock against the Air Force. How about that. We don't forget, got to give it. Shut up,

Scott worried. I'm about to go ahead, do it? Go ahead. Hey, Look, if you're listening, you've got a w j I M twelve forty and Lansing. But you need a search. Hit that search. But if you're riding in the car, you know, search and go through it. Find it. But also you can listen streaming it on musue spartans dot com backslash watch to listen to hockey tonight. Absolutely, don't forget. Volleyball plays Nebraska tomorrow. That's a big one, big matchup for volleyball.

So it's all kinds of interesting things. This is a big overlap time. But we talked about this a couple of shows ago, me and you owed us about the overlapping of the different sports. Right now, it's exciting time. None more exciting than what's gonna happen tomorrow night in East Lands at the President Center with Midnight Madness coming to town from Michigan State men's basketball. It's gonna be an exciting time for everybody. Excitement and for info. Look,

just make sure it's what is it? At eight o'clock doors open, doors open up to show starts at nine point thirty, where a costume costumes are encouraged. Yes, sirree, but you got Unfortunately we gotta go on the fun on the road with the football team. But I about saying, if Jay you was in town, he's been the Freddy Krueby Friday thirteenth. Yeah, oh man, this guy here, he had from from Chappelle Show,

the most diabolical hated on this side of the Mississippi. All right, listen, speaking of basketball, we got an excited guess we want to get on the show, and I can't wait for This is my brother right here, Thomas Kelly, former mississ State basketball playing a current assistant coach four missig State basketball men's basketball. K. What's what's so y'all doing? Man? Hey, I'm just sitting there listening to y'all over the seeing Freddy Krueger Man.

I'm over here laughing. I'm over here laughing. I look at hey. I love it, man, I love it. Y'all can have fun like that, man, because that's what I do with my old teammates. That's what's because he got the hat on. He got the hat on, he got the hat on. Hey, Jay, you man, just first of all, I watched all three of y'all. Man, y'all had great carisy' all right, but Jay, you man, you're rocking that hat. Man watching I thought it went on. I'm looking like, Man, I don't

know. That's what's uping. You could be anywhere else, man, but you spend the time with with the with the guys. Man, That's what it's crazy, because uh, let's let's go back, man, because when you was in Grand Rapids and working at the local in the local high school community, a lot of training and I remember being at a side and auction outing. I know the team was over there, and yeah, I think after that you kind of fast forward and start getting back into the college coaching.

But talk talk talk about the journey man, like you know, you played for the great time we call them Father Tom. You know coaches well, and you know, talk about the journey man, the journey from playing for coach and then kind of getting back to full circle being back at the Green and Whiteland coaching staff. Well appreciate that. But that said, showing up to you guys, because everybody, everybody the wars and tears of being a spark dog. As we talking about you guys, are we all in

this? We all in the family on that. So I appreciate being here. But no on the real man started off played, you know like all of us. I played fifteen years in Europe. I remember coach came at me like twenty thirteen about I usually he always stopped by a football game before I go overseas to play, so he kind of jabbed at me about getting into coaching. But I but going to your point, oldest man, I always gave free camps and free trainings because I was always okay, you know

basketball and all that. But to get back to the community, I always gave a free camp or free trainings because you know a lot of people couldn't afford that. So that was my way to touch the community. So I will always do that, and it just start going. And then once you know, when coach jabbed at me about it my last year twenty fifteen, it just kind of lined up. A GA spot opened up, and you know then you know going to did just for three years, started with Denzel

Valentine. It was my first year as a GA. Then did that four years out Western Michigan. Then a long story short, Dwayne Stevens when he got the job, of course he was keeping me on with him. But to his credit, he was like, no, I think he should go back home. And so when he when he said that, much respect to him for you know, kind of blessing that making that happen. I much

respect to DJ for that because he didn't have to do that. And coach welcomed me back home open arms, and honestly, man, I'm back at home. I mean it feels good to be back. To be honest, it feels good. Yeah. So that's in a nuts share. Look, we came in together. I remember nineteen ninety four, man, we came in the same time. You know, it was the last year for Perlis and then saving comes into ninety five. But then that was yet times I

think second year as the coach. Yeah, so I remember you saw the evolution of Bastball then like from the Heath coach when Tom took over to where it is now. Now, talk about your experience as a coach now and what do you like most about it? You know, because you know, obviously from players, we missed the camaraderie. But what do you like the most and what do you like the least? As being a coach now in back at the alma mater, I mean, it's crazy. I wish I

was. I wish my parents would have had me younger. I wish I wish I was coming along out with it. Y'all know that with the benefits they getting down with the all their food and the setup, it's unbelievable. But no, man, you're right, because it's kind of like guys like a j and Holgard, Tyson Walker, even j A lot of these guys they like to talk about the old times. They always ask questions, they always want they you know, they want to see where it all came from.

But but like you said, Jason, Man, to be real, I mean, I've seen the n I T in the final four in my years here as so, I've seen the you know, when we was trying to get going and to break through my senior year to you know, I'm missing national championship by a year. But to see that that rise and that to see the culture to what it is, it's it's kind of impressive. And I got to give coach a lot of the credit for that because you know, he was. He was always on it. He was always you

know about the corn, sticking together, holding each other accountable. And at first the first years, to be honest with you guys, like it was hard because we was trying to you know, everybody want to show themselves and do this. But we decided we was tired of losing, and we was like, man, let's just go and buy into what he's talking about.

In sweet sixteen, Final four, National Championship, Final fourd and and that that kind of with that culture and what were on when I when I come in, when I where I come in, when I talk to these guys, they know I'm from that. You know, I witness that. I

seen that, and I honestly know what I'm talking about. So I know when a player is cutting a corner, you know, or somebody's trying to you know, you know, not really given that all because we all know when we all you guys play sports at a high level, we canme and reinvent the will. When we were talking about winning, you know what I'm saying, because that's a you know, that's a whole different type of sacrifice.

And that's why I'm on with our guys because see now I know what when you when you hunting, you know you're trying to go get something like this year, we people feeling, you know, we're gonna we got the bulletsy on our back. So now we got to understand we got to approach it different. So like I say, I've seen n I t I seen the Final four, So I know when people come to get us our mindset and the way these guys competing right now, which I love, I mean

following us. To be honest, our guys are and ain't always pretty, gets sloppy sometimes the time of year, but honestly fail us. Our guys are competing every day and that's just and that's the that's the kind of things we have to have if we're trying to you know, trying to reach the goals we're trying to reach. So to be honest with you, Jay Man, no, it's not really a negative thing when you talk about the coaching side of it, because the kind of guys we got and the kind of

culture we have, you know, our guys are coachable. They won't got a coach effort. You know, it's really no none of that right now. You know, if anything, we got to turn it down something because it gets too competitive. Man, it really does. Wow. Yeah, So coach, you know, with talking with the way the landscape of college basketball and college sports overall is changing, and coach is he's been a constant.

He's been the same you know guy that he was part of, like when you were there too, How is he and you're and you guys as a staff adjusting with the new landscape of college basketball and still saying, hey, you know, Michigan State is the place to be, but we're not going to be you know, hitting the transfer portal, We're not going to be throwing all this nil and everything like that. How are you guys staying with the times but yet still getting these big recruits coming in. Well,

to be honest with you, man, we with that. We still stick to our principles. We have a we have our we have our our staples. Like you're talking about the culture, the you know, the you know, accountability, Like we still stick with that, and we still stick with our thing is we spend time. I spent time with the guards wings, I spent time with him. That's kind of why I'm glad you guys.

I'm glad y'all, y'all came on at the right time because I was spending time with the guards man, you know, putting that time in with him, investing in them, so that that makes it easier to adjust with the times, if that makes sense, Because like I said, you can't reinvent the will, reinvent the will with things. But these kids, you know,

let's be honest, kids love attention. These kids love attention, and but you got to find the balance of that because you don't want to kind of wear and tear them, you know what I mean, Because you know at our time, you remember, just straight on me, we're trying to break through. We're gonna have the three hour meets, the four hour meets,

the you know, we had all of that at our time. No, you can't do that now with them, with the with the you know, with the things that you know, these kids, you know, they need their time. You know, if mental health is an issue of something going on, you don't want to risk that. But we still spend time, Jayu Man, we spend a lot of time. And that's how we were able to maintain and sustained with it, you know what I mean,

because we we give our we give our kids the attention they need. We have spent sacrifice with them whatever we gotta do, and they and they understand and they appreciates that because we got those kind of kids like j Nakin's appreciates that. Tyson Walker appreciates that that you you were able to spend time with him. So that's the cool thing that we have, you know what I mean? Yeah, Yo, coach, you talk about like I think everybody

wants to know. I think we all know. But the makeup of a guard right like Iszzo has his what he wants in the guard and you meet one of his guys and then being able to kind of coach like the current guys and recruit like our guard room is stacked like that I've ever even seen, right, But talk about the makeup of what you're looking at the DNA of a guard that where's the green and white? Because I think that's an element in itself of the guard club. Y'all got Hey, Jason, you're

gonna love this. You think is right? You say that oldest. I go at him every day. I'm like, hey, me, Mattein and Charlie will lock y'all up. Oh, y'all talk that to U to Tyson to a j and jaydon you know, because I'm like, all three against y'all through we'll lock y'all up. But I'm saying that to say, like I have to say to your point, when you talk about the guard players,

say, you've gotta have some mental toughness. You're gonna get challenged, you're gonna get you're gonna get pushed, You're gonna get you know what I mean. So the thing is like Jeremy Fears, young kid man, he don't lay it down, man, Oh my gosh. So you right right, So you got you got, you got, you got Jay nakeds like that, you got Tyson like your a j you know. And then Trey Holloman because Trey Holloman got some football in him, right, you got some

of that football. And so y'all y'all know what that I'm gonna take you. I don't like playing full basketball, none of y'all. Man. I don't like playing basketball with like place to go rest, you just trying to come to hoop with us. I mean, one time he trying to bully me on a post. I'm like, hey, man, hold up, man, you know what I mean. Like, no, it's just gonna be that now because that's when we started lifting with coach Nanny in a little

bit too. So I'm trying to bunt with him and grind with him, saying, Irvan to come and play. You know. You know it's like you know, y'all, y'all move different, you know what I mean different. But I'm saying that the same with that mind, Frank, because coaches gotta he got a coach love. First of all, Football is coaches personal love. Trust me, we have football passing practice. Back in the day

we had on that. I witnessed that personally. So I'm saying for a guard at Michigan State, mental toughness is the first thing, you know what I mean. So because you know, as we always say, if the head dies, the body follows, you know, So our guards, all of them, I put all of them in that in that in that group, so they all got to the mental toughness. They challenge each other, they go hard. That's the first thing you better have through the door when

you a guy in Michigan State is mental toughness. And the rest is, you know, mental toughness, being ready to lead and bringing people with you. Man, we big on that, like I'm big, like watching feel like I make Jin grab the rest of the wings. We're finna watch him and he's just gonna be you, you know what I mean. So we we big on that. But you gotta have that. You if you don't have that mental toughness and trying to lead and willing to get people to That's

why my team was so great at it. You know, you you're a flint dude, the oldest man, you know what that is. So my team is with that, and that's what and that's what. You got to have that through the door and fears got it. Aj they all have it in their own way. Man, We got some mentally, this is mentally tough group they are. They are ain't always you know, they got some

They stubborn now, but but that makes them who they are. So you know, keeping my player hat on with that, I understand it because I was stubborn, you know what I mean. So I'm able to relate with them on that. They know we can talk about it then, you know, I joke with them like, hey, right now, I played pro ball as long as y'all can't see me yet, although I know they coming to get me because you know what I mean. But so that mental toughness.

Oldest man is big. It's big man, coach TK we're talking about there's there's some comments in the chat right now about this, and you know I hear the voice I talked to. We ain't even in mid season. Now you already like what goes on in the walls and practice. Hey, man, all summer. Man, I don't know what man, he was talking about some hot tea. That talk don't work. Man. You know

what I'm saying. I'm taking hot tea all the time. And but to stay on these dudes, man, to stay on them because to your point, Boja, I mean, you know, man, y'all know we can't. We can't. I can't let them. I don't like to let them cut corners. I'm always talking and I always tell them clean his day. I don't care if y'all get mad at me. Y'all know where I come from. Y'all know I got love for y'all, So get mad at me.

You know what I'm saying this coach, you know you talked about it earlier on in the conversation, saying the bullseyes on Michigan State this year. How are the coaches? How are the players? Embracing and embodying that. You know, all their attention is on. It's in East Lanton this year. That's why I said they can. Man, Hey, man, Jay,

y'all gotta oldest member. Comebody practice Jay one time. Man. I mean real talk because right now, being real with you guys, the energy that they like I said, they ain't always perfect, them boys competing and I think they know it because to your point, I think they know now remain to be seen when we play against somebody else. But right now they

know it. Man. They know they people come to get them. They know they you know what I'm saying, Like, they know what's expected of them, and they bring it every day literally everybody willing to do the extra and you know, wanting to be pushed in all of that. These guys are on that, you know what I mean. So that's why you know, I'm I'm excited like y'all too, to see what they are when they line up across somebody else. Because going against each other right now and the

boys is battling. They really are, man, they really are. I saw I witnessed Jeremy fear As Trey going at tie, going at AJ and them all going back at each other. But yeah, they playing like they're not on the same team. Like that's where you think about Like those championships are in practice court I don't mean interrupted, and the thing I love they

don't like to lose, you know what I mean. So it's like even from an open gym to a scrimmage and practice like literally like fears think you know what I'm saying, he think they should win, you know what I mean. And you know AJ and them ain't gonna let them the games gig up seventeen eighteen. You know whatever, these boys be baling. I love it because and they get mad and so y'all know, being players, man, y'all know, as a coacher, I'm gonna let you be for a

minute. Walk that steam on. I love you got that steam though, you know what I mean that you're mad. You know what I'm saying. I love that, And we got that, man, we do. It's just not saying like we gotta clean some things up. We gotta do some things because it's still October. Ain't nobody We don't want to be trending like that right now when it's you know, we're trying to get to trying to get to Phoenix. You know what I'm saying, as a boat, we're

turning the right way. We're turning the right way. And Andy and they buying in. Man, But y'all being football guys and being competing and the sports y'all bottle for a while, y'all love how we compete. Man, y'all would yeah, because tomorrow, I know we got Michigan State managed. It used to be Midnight managed, but Michigan State team. You know, tell spartanation of what to expect because everybody comes in and you know it's it's craziness. But you know, we can't you can't get it. You can't

get the trades form. What is all gonna come out on Halloween? But what to expect on this scrimmage? And like the atmosphere as you give an open scrimmage showcase to the to the spartanation, well you know they're gonna see some some good some some solid students, some solid yo. Man, these dude, these guys gonna be gonna be good to the people, gonna be you know, it's gonna be a short brief now. Now, like I said, now, I don't know how it's gonna get with that scrimmage.

But if they you knows on that now, it could be fun and easy. But I'm even knowing coach where how we get because how we get too, because I don't like to lose neither, you know what I'm saying. So we're gonna see how the scrimm it's gonna be. But it's gonna be exciting. Man, you're gonna have you know, because I know these I

know these guys gonna they've been waiting for it to. You know, it's it's time to start getting out here in front of some people, because I bet they tied to being out there in front of us already, you know what I mean, because practice starting earlier and earlier as we see then with the summer work we got because that's the one thing if if you know what I mean, like back in the day, we weren't allowed to in our

time. I'm going like Jason, like we're so old. But in our time, like we weren't allowed to, you know, we got Now we're allowed to coach them in the summer, impact them in the summer like we didn't have that. We kind of have to be on our own, you know what I'm saying, but we have an impact them over the summer. So you think about the fellas we started in June, July, August, septenth. You know, these guys ready to start getting out here and showing

You know, it's that time now, you know what I'm saying. So it should be fun. Man. I appreciate. Man. You gotta figure out how we get this, uh, you know, basketball guy frequently. You know, man, you're gonna have to come off time. Man. But yeah,

I'm on the part to hang out with you. I mean, because like I said, when I look at y'all, like in my own way, I've seen every last one of y'all playing football game. So I got some copy from Afar to like, I'm in Europe saying I'm watching y'all. You know Jay, you and y'all young kins man. You know what I'm saying. So you know me and my man Jay, I seen y'all young gins. Man, I seen you, but but I know y'all y'all y'all grind man, So I know, yeah, man, it's all right there.

I mean, right, dragon, that guy's on you there you you you're gonna pull out the best and anybody that wants to be successful listen, I'll take that voice versus sneaming voice. So you are got some head coach vibes. And that's what it's crazy how they got the voice and to walk. If you saw that video, like they all get their likes and mannerisms all

through up manner. I love it, guys it this is the winning national championship. After that, you know, celebrate. But I wanted to show

I wanted to show him that because clearly he obviously paved the way. Like the foundation, like we talked about, like guys now with the coaching staff that we don't know who's coming in and who's gonna get hired, but got to be committed to like it took us a minute, But we had to be committed to like we are rebuilding, like we are the foundation, and once you embraced that, I think that's the element where things start to come and play, where this is bigger than you and I think that's when we

finally start to you know, shooting attest to him because d came over. It's like you had to get get to know the staff and understand the goals objectives. But like, I think you're showing that that national championship with the Flintstones is that they started with coach Izzo taking over and understanding that t K was part of that foundation and now full circle. I just think it's bigger than you like and they still are are but they say thriving off the results

and the fruits of that labor from back in the day. So I just want to say that that's that was That was a good interview because we needed we needed some of that juice and showing that like Friday, man, it's kind of like basketball's coming in and that crossover, it's like we need that on campus, man, And if you saw it is on camp out, you would know it's it's ready. It's ready. They for sure ready man can't wait for minn man. It's at Sparking madness. That called said sparking

madness. It's called Michigan State mans, Michigan State Madness. He used to be yeah, because they couldn't practice until midnight. But now hey, that's all over with. But listen, guys, we got some football to talk about. Rushers, miss states on the road. Where we're at, where we at straight and he say we're going to the red gust awaiting jay Z. We have been true

to that since day one, and we're not gonna do it now. So the talk has been since we last talked about a football game was who's gonna play quarterback? Who? So here we are today, we're gonna break it down. We're gonna see and take evaluation of both Noah Kim and kateen Houser. Here, guys, let's get at it. Let's yeah, buddy, don't get scared now. You want to ride we out here. So we have a we have some plays here we want to break down, and let's

let's bring up here. What do we have first? Is this Noah? This looks like this is uh Noah from the Richmond game. This is uh Noah here getting a lot of when he's in in the game and he has to protection. It has to time. You know, he can make plays like this. So let's go ahead and run the Let's run it. Lots of time, receivers running great routes, getting some some uh you know, separation from their guys, and Noah can have the ability to place the ball

in the brad basket just like that. A good play action fake because you see that. If we can go back to the beginning of this play, because what what a lot of people don't realize is look at look at it. Let's go back to the start first, all right, now, I want you to take a look at the safeties and take a look at the linebackers. This is what we always talk about. A run. A good

running game is gonna help the passing game. So if you see that and you see this hard play action here, because we've had success running the football throughout the game. So when the ball snaps and that that running back puts his arm up like he's gonna get the ball. You're taught us to running back, get the ball, burrow your shoulder and rock the baby. The quarterback is gonna give a hard play action sell. And what will happen if

you do that? Well, because you've been running the football well throughout the game, you're gonna get that safety in those linebackers sucking up and then boom, you can go over the top and things like this can happen. You see those linebackers and say that safety was recute because that like oh yeah, and now the next thing you see is tail lights. So the best thing about it. You have to be able to run the football, and they give your quarterback this time here, and Noah will be able to do things

like this. All right, Noah Kim in rhythm there, throwing a nice ball for a touchdown to Antonio Gates. Junie. Yeah, now let's look at another play, keep it rolling. This is Noah Kim. The first play was Noah him good and just know him not so good here. So this is an interception that he throws. You see, he's going for his receiver going across the middle in a in a deep drag or some will call it an over route there and he just having to have that ball hanging up

a little bit there so we can go ahead and play it. Ooh. You know it's crazy though, because like you know, you talk about this linebacker dropping down where clearly he's supposed to be covering the hook curl, but he sees there's nobody there. So he just rereaded eyes on the quarterback, and I think that's where the element of you know, you thought he was supposed to be where he's supposed to be. Clearly, he's reading your eyes. So as soon as that ball comes up gets released, he's already a

motion to intercept that ball. But you know, to your point, no, obviously you don't see it. It's like a blind side right like if it's that half right side with blinded or what. But uh, you know we seen him throw make great play, it's great, great great throws. But in that standpoint, there was no distress. He wasn't getting no pressure. I think that's just an element of the decision making of throwing that ball where he should through it earlier clearly versus holding like you said too long.

Yeah, what I would like to see, you know, from Noah going for this, I want to see him look off defenders, look off the safeties a lot. Sometimes he has a tendency sometimes to stare down his receiver. And in that play there, like you said, otis that defender was reading his eyes and he knew exactly where that ball was going. So if I want to see him as he progressed in the whole. The maturation process

of being a quarterback is looking off defenders. Now, you know you you saw it with the play actual he was able to do that and suck up the defenders. Now now he has to be able to look off the safeties, look off the linebackers, and those things will open up for him. Yeah, like like it's okay to do a pump thing, you know what I mean, like sports in football, I don't understand it, but yeah,

you're right, guys. We now let's break down Kate Olser here, we have some of that tape right that was got a looks like a good play from Caton. You know, it's kind of like like last year where Noah was coming in for Peyton Thorn. You know, it's an element of uh, you know, he's seen it. Obviously, we have no points on the board, so it kind of gets some opportunity to just really kind

of let loose and see what he can do. So coming out there, fresh you know, fresh mind, you've been watching that defense for till like till fourth quarter, so you should have some element to come out there and say, hey, I know that this can be open on this post, but this play man that was a perfect pass, perfect catch from a snap

to throw only you know, finishing the play with the receiver. But that was the biggest pass we had almost all game, you know, with that that post and so you can see very poised in the in the back back end where you get that protected halo you know from the office of line and you know straight you can attest to it. If you give him a perfect halo and he makes plays, then you know that's the element from a great

quarterback. Just aggressive. You have the opportunity to be aggressive. There's nothing to lose. So there's a different mindset, right You're playing trying to say, I just want to give us a spark. No, I can't make up for you one points, but I don't give a spark. And he's

aggressive similar to what Noah was doing when he came in last year. So you know, I think it's an element of how can this battle kind of now be in season and you know you're going to give Kateen a chance and you know, just know, like I think we may see two quarterback option or opportunity depending on how this game goes. Yeah, you're absolutely right. Some of the strengths that Caen has Kayten has a strong arm and he you

know, he's a he's a bigger body quarterbacks. So if you want to do those like Philadelphia Eagles have coined the tush push, if you want to do that, Kayten is a guy that will be able to Honker down and get those you know, tough short yard each there. As you saw even when he was you know, running. I hate to see a quarterback diving, you know, on in second down. I hate to see a quarterback

diving and stretching his body and putting his body out there like that. But that's the competitiveness that Cayden Houser has and both these guys are very, very competitive. But you know, just like the same thing with Noah. You know, you talked about good good plays going through and making the right reads and you know, getting the ball down there with strong with you know,

with strength. You know, there's also the bad side of it. So we have an interception here from Caydenhuser on a screenplay just gets it up, you know, over gets it up too much. And if you go back to the beginning of that, yes it's a screenplay and you can play it, but you always you want to see a quarterback set his feet a little bit on the screen. I know, you're taught as a quarterback to drift, get yards, drift, drift, drift, but you can't be back

pedaling and throw that. You're not going to have the control as you would on you know, on on the football there. And he just happened to sail that right into the arms of the defender there. So those are some of the things for the good stuff that and we see this for Michigan State quarterbacks this year. The good stuff that you see, you know, the strong throws, the good decision makings, and then there's times that you you

know, there's just head scratching plays that you will see. But I think it's you know, it's an open competition, you know, Coach Barnett said, you know, he's not gonna say who's gonna start till we get there. But both these guys can play off each other. Well, they're both competitive guys. And so, you know, like otis alluded to, do we see you know, a two quarterback, do we see different packages for different guys, you know, or do we see spark guys? Guy go

in and try to create a spark for the team. So that's what we're gonna have to keep an eye off for. But for whichever quarterback that starts the game, what I want to see from them is command of that offense, staying on schedule, and when I say staying on schedule, keeping it keeping as you're supposed to be. First down, you pick up four or five yards. So with second and four, second and six, you know, that's what you want to do. Second, third downs. You don't

want to be behind the chains. You don't want to third and twelve, third and ten because it's a lot tougher to get out of those holes too, you know, as a quarterback. So I want to see the quarterback have command of that offense, have that confidence for going out there, and limit the mistake. The self inflicting wounds has to stop. Second yeah, yeah, you know, you know. And I see in the chat people talking about the play call on the third three yard line for a screenplay.

I don't understand it either. Listen. I can't sit there and be like, oh, well, this is what you're right, run the yeah, yeah, yeah, I was right, Like, it's the same situation we first attended the reds zone. Yeah, we want to pass the rock now, I know it's a different circumstance with the Maryland game twenty four nine. We could have scored and it would have been a ball game. He still had six minutes left. But like, why why, like you said,

why make that pop path call? When you get on the first team, like you said, get you can get positive yards and make the car of four or five yards pop? So why not why not just handing off to see what we can do in second down? All right, let's let's mix, and let's mix a mingo on the pass and run. But it's just mind boggle. That is a thrown in our offensive side right there is getting down there and you just forget what got you down there. It's mind boggling

from a defensive mind. Stand boy, I'm on there, like man, we got score, Like I'm sitting there looking come on man, and I'll tell you, like, you know, why would you make that call? It's easy you could predict that play. So momentum killers, drive killers, team killers. Hey, you know, I mean shoot blooding uh beast mode on uh in the chase whatever it is. You know, when he's talking about that play, you know everybody talks about that with the Seattle Seahawks and

the Super Bowl, don't. I mean you got a dog like that to get you down there. It's on the three inside the five yard line, run the ball if you got to pass it. All offensive coordinators out there, young ones, I'm not talking to ours young offensive coordinators down in the red zone, like, especially inside the five yard line, is you're gonna throw if you have to throw boots or rollouts with options and if you don't see it, throw the damn thing away and it back in it and zone.

Right, And that's what everybody knows, right, yeah, absolutely every all all the boys on the in the trenches and the boys that catch the ball and get all the pretty girls all agree. Okay, that's what you do. You just don't do this kind of stuff. We don't go. We don't get it. But listen, a quarterback as a quarterback, I got one anyway, but look like theres a quarterback. You should have all the clubs we talk about having all the different clubs and golfing, you know,

not just the driver. You also have to be able to chip and put. That means being able to make the touch throws. Just because you have a strong arm doesn't mean you need to throw through somebody in order to make a play. Sometimes you got to be able to take something off set in your feet helps that whoever the starter is. You talked about this go ahead, yeah, no, and you you talked about that. You have to be able to have the touch plays and everything. That's when when we

saw I believe it was the the Richmond game. You talk about touch throws. I wish we had this here. When Noah Kim had that touch throw to a tight tight end Hopper, you know, right across the middle there when he got in there. It was a beautiful, beautiful throw just to

touch pass that. He was the only one that could be able to you if you miked his hands up, you wouldn't hear the ball hitting his hands because that's how soft that ball was thrown over what Hopper eventually got hurt on that play, right, No, no, no, that's he scored a touchdown on that touchdown. Yes, yes, he scored a touchdown on that play. But then going later on in the game, he got hurt on that. But that's the that's what to Straight's point, that's what you have

to understand. You have to drive for show Puttford Doe there you go, let's go into Rutgers more like like okay, so that's a quarterback breakdown and we're gonna get in the game day stat breakdown right now. Brought to you by Maine Financial Group, Fellas Main Financial Security Future with Maine Financial Group called Fellas over two four eight three four seven Main Main Financialgroup dot Com. Fellas. We got plays, I know we've been. You've got got a basketball

interviews, We've got quarterback breakdowns done some Olympic sports. We got to get into some place where there are opportunities for Michigan State here, both both offensively and defensively to make places. And this is we're gonna show someplace here for what is this the Rutgers defense I believe? Yeah, so this is this last week Rutgers was playing against Wisconsin. Right here, this is the defense

is so this is Michigan State's offense. If you're looking at this, we have trips to the right, no tight ends in the game to and just one running back, just one running back. So now, as as a defender, now you know your your keys go. You know you look at the guards. You know what what's gonna happen there? If these guards pop right up, it's a pass. If they're staying low, you know, it's a run. If so, if you don't know, let's let's go ahead and play this on they pop up, they pop up? What is

that? That's the oldest play. That's the oldest play when he used to come and cut your knees out. I absolutely hate it. I absolutely hate it. But to your point, man, uh, that's your keys. Like from a defensive standpoint, Rutgers, if you look at this d N left the end, I mean this gets the guy gets off the ball quick. Where he's having this tackle is having problems at every snap when you watch this game, but they start to see that these guys keep flying past the

breaking point. So it's wide open. That's where I feel like we used Our office needs to look at these tendencies man, like you need to be able to be aggressive, sell the pass, and able to give that drawing. That's Toto's favorite players. With the ocean wide open, He's party. It's just you and whoever that small linebacker or that dB where you can abuse abuse those guys. Yeah, to otis this point that Rutgers defensive ends. They're very aggressive, So what you want to do is you want to try

to take advantage of their aggressiveness. Just like you saw there. You know that little shovel pass that they did, and the beauty of that shovel pass. If he drops it, it's an incomplete pass. It's not a fumble anything like that. So they want to take avengers those guys are coming upfield or if they're crashing. You know, if they're coming upfield, the middle is going to be soft and ready to go. But if they're crashing down, now you start to look at maybe, hey, let's look at a

zone read here. If this ends crashing down, I'm gonna stick that ball and then running back to belly, pull it as a quarterback and go around the edge there and help. If you even want to get a little cheeky now, stray, you know you you do that. You've noticed that m's crashing, crash and crashing. You stick it in, pull it out, and you pull a guard out there, that guard one on one with the corner or they can't cut anymore. They can't cut you to create a pile.

So it's it's that that corner or safety has to make a business decisions. Man. I am, but look, I'm picking choose. It's a long time. You have to make that business decision. Now which one listen because because the thing is, like, the best site for a running back is to be running and you see those hamhocks by a big jersey like a sixty five or seventy nine in front of you, and just see those booty cheeks just bouncing boo boo boot lineman in front of you. There, that's

the beauty thing that a running back wants to see. The scary thing UH defender want to see, especially a corner of safety is a big seventy nine to sixty five whatever coming at you. Because those boys are like, this is my opportunity and banging heads with lot with d lineman linebackers. This little cat right here, this is my opportunity for film. When we're watching film the next day, I'm gonna yeah, yes, sir. Or the draft

highlights. You know, you're trying to get some draft highlights right there. If you get out in space and the dvs don't want that, yeah, you gotta close the gap. Let's look at this play right here. Let's let's let's keep it going with the ruptors defense talking about all the different options with the quarterback. Run here you go. Yeah, let's go ahead and let's play it here. See once again, the dns are coming down the quarterbacks. You want to step up in up you can't get as a quarterback.

Now you have to realize now those d ns are gonna be really aggressive, really aggressive, and if they're going outside, old lineman, you can just ride them outside. Quarterbacks, This is not the game to be going lateral. No, this is not the game to be going lateral. Now, you trust your trust your offensive line. They're gonna create a pocket for you and step up in the pocket. Just like that step up in the pocket if you want that, you're still gonna have the opportunity to throw.

If the run lanes there, run the football. But the quarterbacks, you can't go lateral on this Rutgers team, especially with their defensive ends, how hard and aggressive they play. You see that linebacker getting the conflict right out there. You see that right he's in the conflict. You don't know if you've got to cover or come up and make the play that like, that's how you brought It's a tough analysis because we know Wisconsin linemen are very sound.

They are like legit blockers like they're all American blockers, so it's tough to really kind of get a breakdown on the two D tackles because they can't get off these one on one blocks. Look at it like there's no pressure in the middle. So for us is we gotta hold our own in that middle, because yeah, these guys are coming off firing off the ball. But that one on one, if you can protect that, I mean there's gonna be those gaps and those holes, and hey, like we said,

the four holes gonna see some production. You know, you gotta get more production than the four hole. Let's go, Let's go to the other side of the ball. Brugers offense here, Let's look at the offensive personnel now listen, like listen, like, let's pause on here because we saw last year, how uh he gave him some problems last year, Like young QB. This is a different coordinator. Cornet just gotta let go. But this

is a young QB who is talented from just raw talent itself. Now with a new coordinator, now you see him more poised because I know we got after him last year. But if you're looking right now, we're trips right and the Tennessees are like the same. Like on the other side of the ball. What are these offensive alignment doing. They're firing off the ball clearly quick snap, there's no quick read. He's going straight to the flat.

Now this this this outside linebacker slash the nickelback right here. That's head on mono, mono. It shouldn't even have a flat route to beginning. But snapped the ball, but nobody's touched up. So we talked about our defense are having the struggle of getting hands on your receiver in a reroute. This reroute would ultimately just eliminate the pass route passing the time in the QB passed

to the quick flat route. If you get hands on just the first guy off the ball and then ride it to the flat, this is a PBu or it's a quick tackle, or it could be an interception if you truly are reading your keys. But look how quickly he's not wasting any time. He's staring it down. And so for us, everybody should be flying to the ball, eyes on the ball, and so the pressure if you go to the next play, this this this offense for for us, these guys

are gonna work hard just like we work hard. Like this is a great Ciano's office. This is a team that's strictly, strictly mentally tough. They don't care about what's happening. They're gonna play hard. But go ahead, you got to got Gavin winsat is a quarterback. But don't forget number twenty one to Johnny Langan, Johnny Langham, he's he's a guy he played for the first couple of years he played quarterback and then he was a guy that

they will bring him in when they're inside the five. He said, tough, hard nose, hard nosed guy that they will run the ball with him inside the five. So if I'm Michigan State and I see Johnny Langham number twenty one, number TWENTI if I'm no, no, I'm just saying, keep your your antennas up. Because he he was the former quarterback now playing tight end. So majority of the time the percentages, he's gonna run the football. But if you're inside that five there watch that little t bow jump

tam. Yeah. So you've got to stay hold of that safety now, otis because you can be conflicted because you think, hey, he's gonna run the football, but they could run that tight end could they call it an old old shoot screen? There the tight end blocks one one thousand and two one thousand slips out and you know, doing a crossing around there, that quarterback takes two steps lower, his shoulder, pops up and jumps it in

there because that safety is sucking him thinking it's a run. So listen, whim sat is a good runner himself when he exactly jets on too, so so you know he's fast. Shoe lads, shoe lads, then run the play, run the play, run the play. Yeah, look quick. Then oh my god, let's go back. Let's go back. We gotta go back because this was this man was beat from the jump. Now you he signed, young young boy. This is like this is a kid at

a candy shot right here. Look at this, like go back to go back to twinkle toes fifty five, Like if I'm looking at this immiliately on the snap, look at these feet, Oh my gosh, don't even kicks went on the inside was like, look look at the games out you slap

that down, He's going down. He looked like what yeah, but look look at the speed, Like on the point of that, our dns need the wakest move and get to quarterback because this is a great ball obviously to your boy to one right, not me, but but from a standpoint, look, look where number twenty one is coming from though it's a yes. So we all have that kind of like sloop hole of our linebackers haven't really got them much depth. Now we've been playing way better, like obviously we're

getting takeovers, we're getting turnovers. But somebody's got to put a hand on the receiver coming off the ball, and that's tied here. That's anybody come up. Somebody's got to get one here here, let him lose, but slow it down so it messes up the time, and I don't it's it's inherited. It is vital to get a reroute. And I don't know why it's getting lost in that transition or translation on the defense, but reroute,

reroute, reroute. You gotta slow speed down for your quarterback makes a guess like, oh, he's not there when I throw the ball because somebody held him up. Got them right, and it's okay to push them on the ground too, like in that fight, it's okay to get this man down. The thing too that you said with the important part about that reroute is

for quarterback side of things. It throws off the time. And you know, like you said, it was if you reroute and then if you have the opportunity, then that could be oh, oh he's not there, pump fake. And then our defense and the aggressive ours defensive line has been playing, and the way that we bring pressure, you have the opportunity to get and put hits on the quarterback. But it's imperative, like you said, otis to put hands on these wide receivers and get that reroute and disrupt their

routes. You know, there was a question for Otis here from Darren Tatum. Otis, how do we get our dbs to turn their head to see the ball come into the wide receiver. You know what, I'm not trying to get my chicks and trades because you know, this is something that I'm to get paid for. You know, this one thing like and and Dylan knows this probably saying because because Barnett, I'm sure he still says it. You gotta go to cool school. There's no there there is no room for

panic when you are out in the back end covering. When you are no you are a hip to pocket. When we talk about hip to pocket. We talk about here, here's the receiver, here's the dB. This is out of phase right you. If he's running arount, you are out of phase. You should not be looking back. That means you're in desperation emergency

SOS. You think you're faster looking back, you're actually slower. But when I get to hip the pocket and I know I've got a hand on the hip, and then this is where I start to learn the tricks of the trade. Is I start to look at the receiver's eyes right like if it almost it's weird man. But sometimes like that, noise gets canceled out, like it's quiet, right like you start to see the look to what you

just do. Yes, you started to see the receivers. You start to see the receiver's eyes get big, and then you looking straight into pupils and you're sitting there waiting. You see that have kind of reflection where he starts to look up. That's when you need to look up, and you need to look up and not go with the short arm. You gotta go with the long arm because if you miss, we always talk about the longest arm.

If you miss, then you're able to hook and tackle, but you got to go for the PBu or if you're in the right time, you can get that interception, a beautiful interception, So for it for an instance. Sometimes it comes too quick, but you gotta at least have some hand up to if it hits you. You know I will. You know Malie Spencer, it hit his hands. Man, it was a perfect interception. You know. Dylan Tatum comes on that quick little comeback the boss b lining,

but he's in hip the pocket. But sometimes you can't get your eyes quick round turnaround. But once you stick, you got to turn and look and move right. So that's an element of you've got to go to cool school. And I'm still enough for Coach Barnett because he's told us that time and time again. Don't be panicking, don't be running desperation looking then you're gonna make a jump, a miracle jump and get extra five feet a vertical to think you're gonna get that. No, you got to get to the

hit to pocket and then that's where you're able to look. But that's where the element of quarterbacks too, like Norre Dan was keen for this underthrowing the ball so receiver can jump up and you know, get a pass interference. So it's a tough it's a tough position to play. But when you know and trust your trust, your your instincts, you trust your keys. You know that you've been watching film on this guy for all week. You know the mama, you know the daddy. Know you start to study these guys,

you know that I gotta lock this guy down. And that's an element going to cool school. That's all I can say. Yeah, that's the that's a big thing there that you that you brought up about learned studying the guys, knowing what they like. I remember specific for as much as we you know, we laugh at John l you know, and his coaching staff,

but they had us. We knew the guys that we played. We had what they called, you know, are before we left for any road game, before we went to the hotel for home games, or left to go to the airport. He you sitting in there, You'll be like, hey, Jay telling me about their middle linebacker. Hey, he's number fifty five. You know he likes to go with the bull rush. But sometimes you will spend, you will spend move on you. You gotta stay firm, you gotta stay hard. With them tough on him there. You know

he's studying sociology. He's in his third year. You know, he lives in this apartment. Count the more you know about the person, the easier it is that you can go out there and you can just play. So that's the big thing is that that film study. For as much as football's physical, a lot of the mental side of things is where you really win

the football game when it comes to that mental side of things. When you know your opponent, you know what route they're gonna run, what their favorite route is, if the quarterback's rolling out to his right, if it's a scrambled drow, what does this guy like to do? When you understand that, you're gonna put yourself in position to be successful every time, oh day long. This is all beautiful stuff right here, guys. You know, like before we wrap this up, the last time Michigan State visited, I

guess remember this play right here? Do you remember this guy and you believe it? You better believe it. These boys remember that, remember looking at that blocking j Reed. Yeah, look, this handshake is cold blooded, but you know they can remember this. Naylor and Red all three, Uh, you know, done on that we haven't had that since and now we need to get it back now, all right, we haven't had that long run since. We'll get it. We'll get it now. It's homecoming.

It's homecoming, so the but it's gonna be jumping. But that's how it's true. Test. Hey, these world wars man, it's gonna be testing the character of our men. And we got to come with it. Show up, show out, Yes, hometelling and family weekend and piscataway, so you know, we got to show up. The Cardigan sweaters. I mean that that means that they expected to win. They scheduled us for their homecoming.

Yeah, right now, football, I absolutely hate they third down, they they're oh my gods, and you you know where that is they do that, you know, yes, Oh my gosh, that irks you. If that doesn't irk you when you step on that field, fellas, I don't know what else that's worth. It's almost second best to that that Nitney Lyon roar and rap. Oh gosh, that lion one. That's the worst. That's that's the wordy. Rain gonna be nasty, fifty six degrees and

rain. Not a beautiful day, So pray for you as he's down there on the sideline giving you guys all O is gonna come up in the boat and get you out there that you can go wherever you want to go.
