On October 2nd, 2006, Frances Elaine Campione drowned her two daughters, three-year-old Serena and 19-month-old Sophia. She was in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband, Leo Campione, who she had divorced due to allegations of spousal abuse. Instead of risking him getting custody of their daughters, she chose to drown them in the bathtub before attempting to take her own life.
