A phrase that we always bring up pretty much every day for you and I we see each other, as we always say, energy is so real.
Yeah, positive energy.
Yet, well it could go either way. When you have negative energy, you just see all Yeah, it seems like all these negative, negative things keep happening to you. But it goes for the other side too. When we say you have good energy, usually good things happen. And we always say we believe in it. We we've talked about
it in podcasts before. How energy is so real? And I mean it's happened in our past where you know, I've had negative energy and you just see all these negative the negative thoughts kind of continue or maybe it enhances the negative things that.
Happen or come back.
Yeah. But then we always say, and it's easier said than done when someone is going through it. It's easier said than done, obviously, but it's real when you have good energy. And I don't know this example that I'm going to say, I don't know if it's good energy or bad energy, but it's energy. A couple of weeks ago, well this was a few months ago. I paid off my car. Yeah, and part of the deal on my my monthly was a roadside assistance that was connected to
the dealership. But I paid off my car, so I did get something in the mail saying that if.
You want to continue to this, like you have to continue to pay or some.
Yeah, something like that. And there was a few months where I'm like, nothing ever happens to me anyway. So, like I was enjoying the no car payment for months and months, and just last week I was like, I feel like I need to have something just in case with all the driving I'm doing. So I decided to be a Triple A member again. I was a member years ago, but I applied for Triple A, you know, just because in my head, I just felt like, just
in case. And this was a week ago. And a week later, fast forward to a week later, my car, my tire hits a pothole and it pops the tire and luckily I had Triple A. Yeah, and I'm like, WHOA, Like I was just talking about something happening last week, yeah yeah, and boom, luckily I had it. So I don't know if that's good.
Energy or bad energy, good and bad. I guess bad that like it happened to you, but then good that you made that move to get triple A just a week before it had happened, because then you would have been like double dissed.
Let me ask you this, when something happens to your car, like you need roadside assistance, are you stressed out or do you just take it for what it is?
I mean it annoys me definitely in the moment. Okay, Like we were talking, like I had to take my car and actually this week for a couple of things that were like wrong with it, and that it like annoys me. However, the things that I did take in like were covered, but it's still like annoyed me that, like shit was happening with my car.
Yeah, I agree, there's definitely annoyance because it's, you know, we always believe, you know, time is very valuable to us, so it's taking time to get this taken care of. But I did I didn't feel a lot of that when this happened. I felt relief that I relieved that I had triple A. So it was an easy call there, like we'll be there in thirty minutes. I happened to pull into a restaurant, so I was like, I'm just gonna have lunch. Just much time I'm gonna have lunch
while I wait for them. And my energy was just like, I'm cool with this. I know I'm gonna have to repair this. It's gonna be a few hundred bucks. Like I was fine with it.
It was was it because you knew that it could have been worse?
Maybe?
Maybe that's what the energy felt.
Like, Yes, like what if I wasn't covered? Like who's gonna tell who's gonna toll my car because I don't have a spare tire?
Yeah, and then you're paying for that.
Yes. I was just like, it is what it is. I'm fine with it. And I was just my spirits were fine, and I even called you. I was like laughing, like, yo, guess what happened. So now I had to the tire place, which they just told it it's covered, and the tire guy was looking through my records and he was basically looking and he was saying, oh, the tire costs like one hundred eighty bucks. And he's all, oh, but I see here that you've been a loyal customer to us.
And I haven't said anything. I haven't said a word I had, I had my credit card, yeah, and he's all I see You've been a loyal customer to us for years. I'm like, yeah, I like, I like this place, and he's all, it's covered, don't even worry about it. And then he did the wink. He's all, us, something hit you in the road, because if it's your fault, it's not covered. But if it's like whatever, he was like yes, and I was like thank you so much,
and boom, got it taken care of. And I don't know, I just felt like my energy was just in a positive mindset.
Yeah, So not only do good things when you're in this like positive energy, not only do you just feel that back, but even the things that are bad aren't so bad because the energy is good or like it kind of fixes itself. So that's kind of like what happened with you. Yeah, I wonder it was a bad situation that could have been a lot worse, but because of like the positive energy, in the end, you just lost time. I guess you didn't lose no money.
I'm glad this didn't happen, But what if it was a negative energy When the tire pops? Now you're annoyed and you're upset trying to call for a tow truck and then you're annoyed for the tire you got paid for, and then everything just stacks up.
Yeah, that's that is how it feels.
So what I'm kind of getting out of this is negative things are happening around you all the time. Is your mind noticing it or do you refuse to to pay attention to it and just stay positive? Again, I understand that this could be easier said than done, because sometimes when you're going through it, don't it's almost like you fight yourself from being positive. Yeah, but energy's real, man.
This would give me fire podcasts. What up? I'm Gizzo. That is John Magic and we are back.
Is this the first podcast of twenty twenty five or did we do one already?
I think we just did one. I'm trying to remember what we coming out of or coming into the new. Damn, it has been a while since we've done a podcast. There's been some things going on. Obviously, you were out of town for a little bit. I was out of town for my birthday, and then our schedules haven't lined up. So I think we've only done one in this year.
Yeah, and again, we don't get paid for this, but we love doing it yea.
Yeah, yeah, but at.
The same time, Yeah, like you said, life is lifing. Yeah, we had vacations, we had things we were doing. I had a friend who I visited just recently back home, and she wanted to start a podcast. Yeah, and I was excited for her. I was like, do it. I'll help you as much as I can with like equipment that you need, like I'll tell you what brands and all this stuff. And she was just going about what
her ideas was, and I was telling her. The thing probably that we've learned through this process of doing one hundred fifty five hundred fifty six episodes is it's tough for content. It is, and I'm sure every podcast goes through that.
Yeah, there's some podcasts where I feel like this is even tougher, where they only stick to one like genre or one topic.
Yeah.
Some of those podcasts are popular though, where they just have like one thing that they talk about. Sports could be easy because there's sports happening every day. But in a situation like this where we don't necessarily have a theme for our topic, it does get common difficult.
You know, the big podcasts that have celebrities all the time. I mean they're such a conglomerate that they have a team, they have a booking agent that books celebrities guests to be on their pod and and you know, these bigger pod podcasts are so big that a lot of celebrities
want to do it anyways. So you know, I know, we had a good run of getting a guest in here, and we want to continue that, and we we we are going to continue that because we're already booking some booking people, but even just locally, that even gets tough of like, you know, who's with the with the topics that we want to cover.
Yeah, and not to mention like we got to be on their schedule too or when they're available, and a lot of the people that we have on our show, you know, they're busy people too, so it's it's tough getting people. But we definitely got some more guests lined up that we're going to be doing probably the next few pods, which I'm excited about looking forward to just yeah.
And at the same time I get messages that they also love this part of it too, where we just talk about anything and everything.
Yeah, which is kind of like what we're doing today on this podcast.
Yeah, So since we don't even remember when the last one was. This is almost like a catch up. Yeah, what's been going on? Things we share? I know a popular thing this week?
Yeah, oh yeah, go ahead, it has been the super Bowl.
Yeah that just that just passed. Oh, speaking of good energy, Yeah, you know when you go to Super Bowl parties, it's common to have those squares. Oh yeah, everyone knows what the squares is, where you fill out a name in a box and then there's those numbers, numbers you know, you know, Yeah, if you need an explanation, just to googgle it. But it depends on the score. Whatever the last number is on the score, and then you match the squares. Whoever's in that square gets the money. And yeah,
I won a bunch of money. I won the squares like I won them.
You were the ultimate winner, I was.
I won at halftime, So every quarter is a cash prize. I went at halftime and then I won the last quarter. And the wild thing about that is and I bring up energy because I was having so much fun at the get together. Yeah, it was just when your friends are there, good energy, food, drinks. The squares is is secondary. That's that's more just for funzies, and you know, I was happy to win the second quarter. That was cool. And I don't know if you remember the game, but
the game was basically over. It was basically over after halftime, but there was a minute and something left and you know, there's there's no way of coming back. We thought they were just gonna run out of time, and so they started congratulating. They're like, oh, Alfred, it looks like you're
gonna win because the game is basically over right now. Yeah, and so he's excited and Mahomes throws that deep pass to Fresno zone xavier' worthy and scores a last minute touchdown for no reason, just that guy, and then they make the two point conversion. And by the by the way, I threw away my paper at this time, because yeah, they were already congratulating the other guy. So even with that touchdown, I was like, oh, then someone else won. I wonder who, and they're like, Magic, it's you and
I was like, whoa, that's funny. So won the Grand prize. So super Bowl was fun this year for me.
The game wasn't though.
The game wasn't.
Yeah, I didn't go no watch party, a man, I haven't did a watch party in a minute. I kind of just been doing it at home the comfort of my home. And the game was just like I had the Chiefs winning. I thought they would. I thought they would do the three peat. Not to mention, you know the Eagles. They're the same division as a Cowboys, so I can't be going for the Eagles. But the game was like really born and I felt like it was
over so fast, like first quarter. I was like, I don't know about this, Like I don't know if the the Chiefs had it in them. They like nothing was working. And based off of that, I just the game was boring and then it ended up being a blowout.
Yeah forty twenty two. Yeah, so I'm a Niners fan, so I'm like you. But see I was torn. Yeah, I didn't want to. I didn't want to go for the.
Chiefs because they be the Niners, because.
They beat the Niners, same division, but also the Chiefs they have Exavier Worthy for Fresno.
Yeah yeah, and they popped off by the way.
And they have Remigio. Is that am I saying his last name?
Right? I don't know.
Oh man, this this sucks because I've been saying his name all past week because he's Filipino.
Oh okay, he plays on the Chiefs.
He's the returner.
Oh nice.
Wait and you don't know you don't know the lesson either. He was the wide receiver for Fresno State.
Oh he was yeah, Remihio, Remihio, Remihio. Yeah, oh wow.
Two years ago he was one of the leading damn.
So they got two. Well, one went to from.
Fresno, one went to Fresnel State, and the one from Remihio is Filipino. So I'm Filipino. We always like cheering for our own, but they're on the Chiefs, So I was kind of torn. I wanted the Eagles to win, so I don't cheer for the Chiefs, but I wanted the Fresno so so yeah. So now I was just watching it for it to be a good game, which it wasn't.
But lopsided the halftime show, actually before the halftime show. What else was weak was the commercials. I usually look forward to the commercial for Super Bowl and nothing like really stood out to me. The ones.
Steal one is the one that stood out to me.
But I feel like there's usually some big like Budweiser, Pepsi, Doritos, and you know, some of them had their commercials, but nothing was crazy. Nothing really stood out to me. Nothing was really like a classic.
Yeah, dunkin Donuts tried to do like the same thing that they did last season, almost like a part two.
But yeah, that that didn't do it for me.
But yeah, the Seal one is the one that stood out to me two reasons because Seal they made Seal a seal yeah while singing his his hit song. And Becky G you know one of our artists that we play here. Yeah, yeah, Becky G is looking super fine. And that commercial, So yeah, that was a That was the only one that stood out to me.
But yeah, I want to go to the halftime show. What was your thoughts on the halftime show? There's a lot of back and forth. There's a lot of it was the best, there's a lot of it was boring. Where are you at in there? In there?
Do you want me to start what I thought of it as I was watching it, or all the craziness that happened.
Afterwards as you were watching it.
As I was watching it, I noticed how minimal it was because I was so used to extravagant staging. I'm used to a lot of special guests, more than one special guest because Kendrick hats sizza. So I was used to live bands basically basically filling out the stages because you know, usually there's a lot of the stage is so big that they fill it with a bunch of dancers, instruments, band. But this one was simplistic. So that's the first thing
I thought. Visually for TV, it was cool. I love the visuals, which is what they do.
Super Bowl performances are basically made more for TV than the people actually at the game.
So yeah, that's what I was thinking. I was actually thinking that throughout the performance was that the people watching this is not getting what we're seeing.
No, we got to see the best angles, but I mean that's what they do it for though, so it's not like it was his specifically. That was like that most most of them are made just for TV with the angles and stuff like that, so it's not really built for the stadium.
As I was watching it, I understood the performance. I understood what he was doing, and that's why I enjoyed it. Yeah, but the part that I was like kind of disappointed. I wish he could have added more hit songs his catalog is so big. He kind of stuck to more of the newer album gn X. But I was hoping he would do the the choruses, you know, of the hit songs, mad, just a bunch of other stuff, just the classic where people can sing along to it. That's all I wanted more of. But what we got I
was fine with it. I was was it my favorite super Bowl show? No? But I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. I loved Samuel Jackson, that whole thing of narrating it. I love the how he teased not like us, is he gonna do it? Is he not gonna do it? So that whole thing was cool. So overall I thought it was good.
Yeah, I liked it. I actually liked it more than more than a lot of the recent performances. And even if we're going to compare it to like the other rap one with Snoop and Dre and Eminem, I actually liked it more than that. I liked the artistic side
that he went with with you know, the choreography. There wasn't necessarily like dancing going on, but there was, you know, there was like a routine going on with the performances and all the subliminal messages that were hidden throughout the performance, the easter eggs there were throughout the performance, the meanings of certain things that he did. I thought all that was dope because you got to remember, for a rapper, it's it's always going to be different, right because they're rappers.
They're they're usually on stage, were just themselves. They don't really dance like if a Chris Brown was performing, or there's not band members so they can do so rappers really don't have much to do before him to be by himself, and what he was able to do are from an artistic point of view, I thought was really dope. So I enjoyed it, uh not to mention, you know, the memes that came from it have been hilarious. You know the Saye Drake with you know, Kendrick walking and
he's smiling. There's been so many memes of that, which is always funny that we can get some of that. But is it top five for me? Probably not. You know, I still put Michael Jackson as the best halftime performance I've ever seen, but I definitely did like it. For a rapper to hold his own up there, I thought was really dope. So shouts out to Kendrick. You know, Sizza. The Serena Williams cameo was dope. The Samuel Jackson it was dope. I've enjoyed it. I've watched it multiple times.
Yeah. Yeah, and you you find more things that you didn't notice by watching it more. And then you also read into things. For example, the controller, like.
People break down the performance.
I don't know if this is true because I don't play video games, but the controller, you know, the PlayStation controller, circle triangle, all that it lights up a certain way, and I heard I read somewhere that that's like a code for for what's that game that everyone plays, the what is it? G T G T G T A. Is that what it is? Yeah? Yeah, so I heard that it lights up with the cheat code for a cheat code, so I could believe I could see.
That, and they had the little game over in the stands at the end. Yeah, I thought it was I thought it was cool. I mean, shouts to Kendrick for doing it. I don't know if people know this. It's just like a side note, but they actually don't get paid for the halftime performance. It's always been like that, so everybody that performs at the halftime show. They actually don't get paid for it, but obviously it's the biggest stage, all the people watching, and your streams go up. I
know his streams have skyrocketed since then. Scizza's has skyrocket since then. Not to mention, it's just like a really dope platform to be on.
So you know, people have to get paid for putting together the stage and all that stuff. You know how it's it's Apple Music. Yeah, like brought to you by Apple Music. Are are they the one pushing the money to.
I'm a worker because I I you know, I actually talked about this on the radio when they were looking for dancers and people to help with the staging. They do get paid, but it's like minimum wage. It's not much, you know, I mean, but the performance itself. Like Kendrick, he didn't get paid, but obviously he's getting paid after the fact. But yeah, I mean, just to just to close the book on that Super Bowl week performance, liked it? Commercials eh, That's how I felt about it.
Well, can we just speak on real quick the wild comments afterwards, which part just so the next day and this is nothing out of the ordinary. People are going to have opinions about the Super Bowl, if they liked it or not. We kind of just said our opinions about it, and that's fine if there's negative opinions about it, But the hate opinions is what is wild. I saw a meme that says, like, tell me you're racists. What's the saying like.
Without without telling me you're racist?
And it's the new where oh it's something where they say, just ask them what they thought about the Kendrick performance and you'll know where they stand there.
That's the thing. I just understand that hate, because yeah, why they hate. There's been performances that may be an artist that I don't care about, but I don't hate. I'm just like, oh, it's not for me.
It's not for me.
Things that I don't like, it's not for me. It's never hate. And just when people don't like things, it's always hate. And why can't it just be like, oh, I'm not the demographic for that, or this was not made for my age or whatever.
I'm not familiar with the artists, which is.
Fair and it's completely fair and completely honest. And that's my response when I don't understand something or get something like I don't understand the Taylor Swift hate. We'll throw that in there, since she was at the super Bowl she got booed, like they paned to her in the crowd and they were booing her, and it's like, what's
the reason, Like, She's hasn't done anything to anybody. You may not be you may not like her music, may not be familiar with her, just like me, I don't necessarily like her music, but I don't hate her like I just I don't understand, Like I don't know the hate stuff is people just it's that whole negative energy shit that we like people just bask into that. They
think it's funny to hate. They they're just like angry people in the world just basking hate, especially if you go through comments of certain things that just get posted. We've talked about this before in plots, like I'll see a post and it might just be something that's not for me or I can't relate to it, and I'll just be like, oh, I don't like that, or that
wasn't funny or whatever. But like people just feel the need to, like I need to let people know how I feel about this, and just the amount of hate that goes on in the comments section is fucking wild to me.
Yeah, y'all gotta get out of that energy, all right. So yeah, that's so yeah. Super Bowl boring game, Like you said, pretty good performance. Good performance, and go Niners next year.
Let's go because I know people always like when we do this, and it's been sometimes since we did it last time. But what you've been watching lately, what's been on the stream for you?
Well, I've been catching up on shows that you've recommended that I haven't gotten to watch yet. So I'm back on The Penguin. I think I'm on episode four. Still, there's like so many things to watch it. I'm like kind of spreading everything out, but I'm watching The Penguin on Max.
That's a good one.
There's a show what Man you might have. I hope you have it on your notes because or do we already talk about this about the It's it's the same as The Remnant. It's like that the American.
But that's the name of the movie you said, the shows like that Prime I don't know how to say. I know what you're talking about. It's on Netflix, American, Prima Primeval.
I'm all saying it wrong.
Yeah, that's the one that you h it's called prime Val.
Oh there's no American.
A notice American.
It's smelled like prime Leval.
Right, it's smelled like prime Val. P R I M E V A L. I think it's we're.
Just we're just radio DJs.
Don't just I sucked in English.
Uh.
Yeah, that came out top of the year. That was was like once. It's like a short series, short series, one season, and I enjoyed it. Yeah, it was like a good watch. Yeah, that was trending for a while Netflix. I haven't got a round to it yet, but I was a fan of The Revenants and you said, it's kind of like that, right, it's same vibe.
Same vibe, you know, because that movie was about kind of like survival. Yeah, so this kind.
Of reset in the eighteen hundred.
Yeah. Yeah, So I recommend that because it's an easy watch. There's only one season. They don't plan it have another season, so you can just knock it out. That's on Netflix. Another show that this is just recent for me. I told you about, but it's still on the I'm on episode four, but it's still on the fence. And this one is called Paradise and it stars that it's.
On Hulu, right, Yeah, it's on Hulu. Yeah, you told me that you were going to see how it is, but you said the first episode, you said there might be something there in your episode? What now four and you're still not sure about it?
Well, now I'm kind of stuck because I want to see it's a murder mystery.
So you want the answers. I want the answer. What is it entertaining to watch?
Or is it?
Because right now it's kind of sounded like it might not be worth my time.
See you just saying is it entertaining to watch?
I don't know.
I don't know. It's still like I'm on the fence. I mean there's some there's some things that like, oh cool.
But now at this point you just want to find out.
I just want to answers. Is why I'm watching it? So that one's called Paradise Little Murder Mystery slash.
That's how I felt about that True Detective. Remember we were trying to watch that.
Oh yeah, the new one.
Yeah, this was a season four where they were like in Alaska or whatever. That was one where it was it was not for me, But I started getting towards where I was like, I guess I kind of want to know what happened. I ended up looking it up that I don't know if you ever found out, like who know?
But no, I'm gonna ask you after this.
I'll tell you after the pod because I don't want to ruin it out there. But yeah, that was one of those shows where like I was kind of just watching it just to see how it ended, but I couldn't even do that. It was fucking born. So I just googled the answer anything else you've been on lately?
So this is I watched this late last year. So I don't think I've mentioned it before, but there or maybe I have mentioned it, but just in case I haven't. Fargo. Fargo was a movie, but then they have on FX they have the series Fargo. Okay, but each one is a different like each series.
Are each season.
Each season is that it's its own story.
That's like how true Detective is.
Right, Yeah, now, yes, there's no Actually I take that back. There's a connection with each one, but you don't like different different characters, different times, even different the universe, same universe. So they're the recent one, the twenty twenty four. Maybe it might even be twenty twenty three. But this recent season was really good okay, and it stars the girl from What's the Soccer Show on Apple? Starts with his name the tea ted Lasso, So the girl one, the
blonde hair, short girl. But she's the star of it. And it's while watching her act on this because she has to put on an American accent. Well not even in the Minnesota act.
Wow are you talking about she plays Yeah.
She plays Keeley, so she's the main, main star on this. She's the hero and she has to have a Minnesota accent.
So ugly, gotta be one of the most ugliest American accents.
But she's English, so it's like it's like Double Action did a great No, No, it's she she plays American, so like man good on her great acting on her end. But the storyline is pretty cool. So if you haven't seen Fargo but her season, recommend.
Okay, yep? Is that is that all you've been on lately?
Yeah? And then just watching little things like Hell's Kitchen Okay, just out of nowhere, out of boredom, I'm like watching this recent season of Bachelor.
Okay, I just want I haven't jumped on that yet because remember last year was the first time I ever jumped on Bachelor. I haven't jumped on this new season. I think I'll wait until like it's over it till yeah, and then I can watch it. Yeah, watch it simultaneously. Has anything crazy happened?
It's all the same.
There's always like the same type of drama.
Yeah. Well, I'm only I got my episode two, but it's yeah, I just look for any like, is there any cute girls anything?
It's not a Love Island, which, by the way, speaking of those type of shows, Love is Blind, we're getting a new episode starting tomorrow. Okay, yeah, Love is Blind. We're a fan of that one, Yeah, we are. Those are always funny to see people's reactions when they see what these guys are these girls really look like last season last season yeah it was okay, yeah, but the season before that was the one that was like really good.
Yeah. Yeah.
Was that the girl that said that she thought she looked like making fun I don't remember what two seasons ago. Yeah, okay, looking forward to that. So that's on the way. Uh, I don't know if you funk with White Lotus, No, I do. And there's coming up, yes, yeah, that's coming up on the sixteenth.
And if you're a K pop fan and specifically the group Black Pink, I'm a fan of Lisa is on the show. She's gonna be on the show. She's playing one of the hotel like I'm servers or workers there. But I'm super excited for her because she's making her acting debut. Yeah, I'm a Black Pink fan and I'm looking forward hopefully she has They're making it sound like she doesn't have a lot of parts, but hopefully I'm hoping to see her a lot in the series.
Okay, one of the shows that I'm on right now that I was getting trying to get you on, it's on Max right now, is The Pit. So this is a show about the er and they call it like the Pit because it's just like craziness that goes down. But the way they set this show up is actually pretty dope. So it's it's an episode each week and they're about an hour long, but each episode is an
hour in that day. So for example, the first episode starts with the doctor walking in at seven am, so it'll be like seven to eight am is one episode, is one episode. The next episode is at eight to nine am. And I think there's supposed to be like twelve, I want to say, twelve or fifteen episodes, So I think it's going to be like a twelve hour day of what the whole day is like, and that's what the whole season. So the whole season is going to be one day, hour by hour, and just the amount
of like craziness that goes on in the er. I've never been to the er before, have you, But I've heard horror stories about like waiting hours just to be seen, like in the lobby, just hours, like people bleeding and just waiting because there's just not enough room, there's not enough doctors. And this show really portrays that really good.
I mean, I'm sold now if you just explaining it. So I'm watching that tonight. It's similar to when what the early two thousand show twenty four?
Did you ever get into that twenty four? Was that set up like that?
Or yeah? Each day was one day?
Oh really? Okay?
It was twenty four hours?
So yeah, so that's same concept, but it's hour by hour and the whole season is going to be one day. I like that, So I've been watching that lately. I highly recommend that a show that came back recently that I got into. It's on Peacock. It's called Traders. That's like a reality series. It deals with people from Survivor, people from I think it's Real Housewives, the Challenge. So they put all these like reality TV stars into this house and it's like a murder mystery. It's like clue,
like who's the murderer in this game? So that's that's like been an interesting show that I've been watching that's on every Thursdays. The one that I was trying to sell you on that I recently watched was land Man.
Yeah. I don't think I have the.
Hair amount.
Yeah, I don't have that streaming service. So I've heard things. I've heard good things about it.
So I know if you know who like Taylor, I think it's Taylor Sheridan. I don't know if you if you know who he is, So he's a writer. He's written like movies like Sacario, and he's done Yellowstone. He's done all the Yellowstone spin offs. So he's like a really good writer. And he's one of the writers on this show. And this show stars Billy Bob Thornton. This one takes place in Texas and it's about the oil industry and it's only been one season, just came out.
But that's a really good watch. That's on Paramount Plus. I recommend that one. And that's kind of been. That's that's that's all I got.
I wish there was stuff on Apple TV because I have that three month free thing.
Oh you just got it?
Yeah, and there's nothing. I mean, I know they're pushing that one show. It's their second season to it. It's that weird.
Is that what it's called?
Yeah, yeah, that's what it is.
You you started to.
Watch it, started to watch the first season.
You told me about it. I think I watched one episode and I couldn't get hooked.
Yeah, I pushed to like four episodes, and I'm like, I don't understand it. So I think the people that understand it are way smart.
Does it even get good reviews? Because I see it everywhere, but.
The first season did. That's the only reason why I started watching it, And that's basically why I start watching shows, is a lot of people start talking about it.
That's kind of how like we all do.
Right. Yeah, So I wish there was better stuff on Apple because I have three months free.
So yeah, there's not much I want to binge watch something Ted Lasso. Yeah, that's so long.
Yeah, but did you tell me that the last season, the last season was kind of weak. Yeah, because I saw both seasons.
Movie. I don't even know if there's like movies on air. Yeah, there's there's not much going on Apple TV. It comes with my my plan that I had my phone plan.
Speaking of movies, I know there's a few movies that are coming out. Anything you're excited for.
Excited? No, I mean the recording of this podcast. I'm gonna go see the new Captain America movie tonight, which I've been seeing bad. So I honestly have no like hopes or I have no expectations for that movie.
So you're gonna go into it knowing it's bad.
I know right now I do.
No, But remember we talked about Madam Madam Webb, how I went into it knowing it was bad, and it was like, all right, that was cool.
So maybe it won't be so bad.
Yeah, you gotta go in to it. No, that.
Movies coming out, I would say maybe. I mean, if we're sticking with the Marvels genre, I'm definitely looking forward to the Fantastic four. Yeah, that's an amazing cast they put together. Did you see the first trailer?
I did.
Okay, so you know how the dude that plays cousin and the bear, Yeah, yeah, he's playing thing. And you see how they kind of had like a reference to the bear because he was, yeah, that's his character was like cooking. And then I was like, oh, I wonder if that's like a reference to the bear.
Yeah, I'm sure that's a little easter egg right there.
So I'm looking forward to that. What else is coming out this year? I know the Michael Jackson biopic movie is coming out this year, but it got pushed back. It was supposed to come out in like April May or something. Now is coming out at the end of the year, so obviously I'll be looking forward to that.
It's just wild to me how obviously this started at when the pandemic, when the world shut down, How the movie industry changed and.
It's not the same. Man.
I hardly go to the movie.
I know. I'm a huge moviegoer, and even I have pulled back a lot for the past couple of years. And it's just disappointing because I'm a fan of the movie experience, you know, watching it on the big screen and you know the surround sound and the people that would just immerse with you. And I walk in even like on a on a bigger movie, and I walk in and I'm like, yo, I can count everybody up in here is like ten people in here, and this is like opening weekend. I don't know.
Should they go back to first come, sit anywhere you want?
Maybe we should get it. Maybe we should get Andy on the podcast again. Andy is one of our friends who manages a movie theater out here, and we've had him on our podcast and he was sort of talking about the movie theater industry and maybe we should get him back in here and be like, Yo, what's going on, bro? Like, can we get the movies to get like be popping?
I mean, the world is just changing and we're kind of changing along with it, you know. Street The whole streaming thing is just it's all about convenience.
Venience. Watch it when you want to the comfort of your home. You don't have to pay for it. I know movies have gotten like pricier over the years. The concessions have gotten pricier, and if you're taking to your family, I mean, if it's a family of four, you're pushing like a hundred bucks over.
Easily over one hundred bucks because I think I took my two nephews. I forget what we watched, but yeah, it was just us three, and I hardly ordered anything. It was over one hundred dollars. Wow for a concession.
And not only that, to your point about streaming, they're putting movies on streaming faster than they used to.
Yeah, Wicket just came out.
Yeah, that movie came out in November. Yeah, so I don't know. I think people are just waiting for them to just hit streaming, which you know, I guess you saved some money.
But well, it goes back to energy. I think that's what I and you just mentioned it. So I'm kind of piggybacking what you just said. Was the reason why I enjoyed going to the movies, to the theater was the energy of everyone there.
The last time I felt that was actually not that long ago. But this is that feeling that I would get all the time is watching Deadpool and Wolverine, those event type movies, you know, like the new Star Wars that comes out, or the new big Marvel movie that comes out. Watching those movies with like the crowd reactions is always fun because it feels like we're cheering the screen and you just don't get that no more. You just don't.
Yeah, I mean, you know, I'm an advocate of you have to move with the world. For me, this is just kind of like where we live right now. But you never know, things can kind of go back.
Come back around. Yeah, there's been some things that came back around.
I've been always saying that that, even in radio when we talk about our business. Yeah, how I feel like maybe we should start doing old school things. And my reasoning for that is the new people or the new generation I like it, right, they don't. They're not familiar with that. So when you do old school bits or old school way of how we used to do radio, I wonder if to them they'll be like, WHOA, what.
Is this crazy? Yeah, I don't know. Maybe I'll do that on my show. You should do it. You should do bring back an older radio bit or something like that. All right, anything else on your end, No, that was a good ketchup. All right, good ketchup. I know we're going to get some guests on the next few pods so appreciate you rocking with us. Until next time.
