I'll get a team. Well, as you know, we're kind of we're moving through our series of twelve repurposed content from over the last year or two through the You Project and also life. This episode is about what we're going to do, be, create, change, learn undo over the next year. What your life might look like from moving forward in a year from now. This is a little bit of a I guess, provocative but also reflective piece. Anyway, wherever you are today, whatever you're doing, I hope you
have some fun. What do you want your life to look like a year from now on Planet you? If things are going great, if things are evolving and improving, and you're doing better, thinking better, producing better, communicating better, what's happening, what's happening in that new and improved version of your life? Think about this. This is not a bad thought exercise, but also not a bad practical exercise.
I've done this many times in my life where I feel like I'm spinning my wheels, i feel like I'm working pretty hard, or I'm investing a lot of time and energy for not much, and when I hit the pause button, I realize that I am in a version of groundhog Day. I realize that I do a lot of the same stuff that doesn't really work, Like it kind of works a bit, but it's not really truly productive and effective, and it's not really compelling me forward.
It's not really creating the existence that I want to inhabit, and it's not making me the person that I want to be. It's a little bit different these days, I think have evolved and I'm a bit better in this space, in this place. But for a long time that was me. And you know, here's the thing, like we you know, we listen to podcasts, we read books, we watch YouTube stuff, we go to workshops and seminars, we talk with our friends.
We ruminate, we think, we overthink, we unpacked, we philoso fiers, we set goals, we we create plans kind of sometimes, you know, and then it's Christmas, then it's New Year. We go, oh shit, where did that year go? And this is what we do? We go, oh my god, didn't this year go so fast? Didn't it? Bloody fly? No, now I didn't. He's exactly the same as last year, depending on the oddly year, of course, but in general terms, same three hundred and sixty five days, twenty four hours
a day, fourteen and forty minutes a day. That's life. That's our lot. It's the same. The variable is not time. The variable as you and me. Now here's what I can tell you is absolutely going to happen. And you think, how would you know? Hear me out? One of four things is going to happen for you and this is guaranteed a year from now. So I want you to look at the date that you listen to this, won't
you think about how your life is currently? And by how your life is, I mean situation, circumstance, environment, job, money, or the internal stuff, joy, happiness, fulfillment. Are you anxious? Are you sad? Are you lonely? Are you disconnected? Are you depressed? Do you have purpose or you're creative? Is their joy? Like that internal world and that external world? Now what's let me finish what I was going to say.
So what's going to happen a year from now? Is you are gonna one You're either going to be dead. Let's hope that's that sounds You're not going to be dead, though, but that's a some people. There's a lot of people right now that they're not going to be here in a year. Let's hope that you and me are two that are still here. Let's hope that. So let's assume we're here. So one of three things now is going to happen is that your life is going to be
worse than it currently is. Your life is going to be pretty much the same, or your life is going to be better. Your life is going to be better than it currently is. And so my question to you is what does that mean? Like specifically, what does that mean? What are the things that you want to do, be, create and change to make that a year from now, that one year from now life great. And so what we do is this thing called reverse engineering, where we
start with the end in mind. So just for now, I would love you to imagine even if you if you're driving, don't do this, but maybe if you're sitting on the train, maybe not either or riding a bike or running, but sitting on the train, you're probably but maybe if you can turn down the busyness for a minute, maybe even if you're multi asking, you're listening to me and you're doing something else. If now it's not a good time, maybe find a time where you re listen
to this and listen to me. When I say to you, what do you want your life to look like in a year When you think about a year from now and your life's going great, what's happening in that great life? What's your situation in that great life? Are you in the same job. Are you in the same job at a different position? You're doing that differently, You're in a different job. Have you started your own business? Maybe you've already got your own business, Have you grown it? Have
you changed it? What are you doing in terms of ongoing learning and personal development? Are you in the middle of a course or a workshop, or a book or a process. And what about your spiritual life? If you have such a thing, what's happening there? And what about your body? What about your health? And what about your relationships? And what about all of these things that combine to equal the totality of your life. Your life is not
a thing. Your life is a combination of things internal and external, scene and unseen, physical and non physical, and all of that stuff comes together to form you your life. Is it possible that in a year from now you're making more money than you are now but you're less happy? Is that it's absolutely possible? Is it likely? Well? Who knows. Is it possible you're making more money and you're happier,
very possible. Is it possible that you've already peaked and where you are as where you need to be in a year from now, that right now you're in the vara and nothing needs to change or you want nothing to change. It's possible. It's probably not likely because you're listening to me, which means you probably want to learn, grow, evolve and do better, think better, create better. But maybe,
But I can't tell you what it should be. Of course, I would suspect that a better life, or your best life, would involve some of that internal good stuff, some of that calm, some of that joy, some of that purpose, some of that fulfillment, some of that happiness, and some of that social connection and love and kindness and compassion. I would guess that involves that, but I could be wrong. It could be all about what's happening in your business.
And that's nothing wrong with that, no judgment from me. So do a stock take of where you are right now, and then put on those one year classes. Think about what life will be in a year from now, and think about when you're in the middle of that good life, that future life. Think about what you need to do now. Think about the decisions that you need to make now.
Think about the action that you need to take now, Think about the stuff that you need to acknowledge, the conversations you need to have the commitment that you need to make now so that in the next twelve months, with work and where it's and discipline and self control and passion and courage and a bit of intellect, you can inhabit that life that you want to inhabit. We'll be back in a minute. All right, we're back, So
just quickly, here's my question. What's one thing, one thing that you can do today that you haven't done, but one thing that you can do today that's going to create some momentum so that this is not just another thing that you listen to that you go, oh, yeah, that's that's a good concept, start the end in mind, and work back. But what if you actually, what if
this wasn't just another show that you listened to. What if that wasn't just this wasn't just another ten minutes or so of your life, but it was actually the point. We're not because of Craig Harper or not because of what I say, but because of you, where you go, fuck it. I'm not ready, it's not comfortable, it's not hast but nonetheless I'm doing it. And then you look back in a year and you go, fuck, remember that day, Remember when I made that uncomfortable, that unplanned that I
wasn't ready for it. It wasn't convenient, it wasn't fun, it wasn't painless. But I did it, and now here I am. You will not magically or accidentally succeed, friends, you will make the decision, you'll do the work, you will get uncomfortable, and you'll grow and learn and evolve, and you will inhabit that better life that you want to inhabit a year from now, or you won't. It's your choice.
