All right, everyone, this is Memphis Mark coming to you on May ninth of We're gonna do the NXT review for the upcoming a premium event.
I guess you would say battle Ground, but tonight it's the first show after the raft and I have to say, uh, you know, a Zoe Stark I think showed up and showed out. I like like that. Uh So, uh, I guess we can just go ahead and jump into the review. Uh. Tonight they started off with a you know, Indie was there, uh you know, uh talking about or they did the recap of her relinquishing the belt and setting up this tournament they're gonna have now.
H they're gonna have a women's top eight for the title, uh for the for the ladies, uh you know, championship and uh so the first match is gonna end up being uh a Trish Stratton and Gigi and um, you know, Trish has come a long way. Um. I normally refer to uh you know because when they first got in, I have to say her soul, you know, and this the new young lady that just come in. You know, they're gymnast and they're coming in, but you have to
take the bumps. And uh, everybody can do it in school while they're down there and going through the training. And I know most of these people are professionals already and to have traveled through the indie circuits and everything. But um, as far as the gymnasts that come in, these these people have to learn to take the knocks for a long period of time. Anybody can come in there for six weeks and go, hey, I did it. You know, look at me and they're in shape. But maintain that shape
and then carry on. But anyway, I'm getting off course. But as far as to nice tonight's match, Trish, I really think uh kind of took it up a notch man. She had a you know, some strong she had a strong stomping there that I saw she did with a really hard version of the moon sauld. I mean it's she had a solid match.
She's sold good. Um, I can't complain on anything on that. But now Gigi can do the promos and she can do all the pictures and do all the Instagram and do everything, but as far as in ring, she just seems a tad bit slow. And I know they were playing off the bad shoulder to night and uh and everything, but just uh, I don't know, I don't know. I think she I think Trish may have surpassed somebody like an an ex Lady Tag Team champion that should be far above Trish,
I would think. But no, uh, but uh, all right, you know so uh. And then there was one other thing. I hate to harp so much on this, but when Gig did get a chance to make her push her offensive push, I'm getting a little tired of now shinshk. He does a deal where he buries himself in the ground and says, come on, and he does the finger motion come on, And I'm seeing a lot of these wrestlers using that finger motion, come on, come on. But now they're directing traffic in the ring, and it's it's a
little funny. I think Gig was It's like, okay, now come for you know, come towards me, and uh, it's like directing traffic. And I don't like it. I think they're overdoing it a little bit. But that's there again, that's just an old guy's opinion. That's my get off the lawn moment, or get off my lawn moment. But they go into a Diads gives them a moment, a little promo, and uh, look, Gaysey comes out and and he says it, look he's gonna take
Ava's advice, and um, he's gonna do something for himself. Right. So I'm thinking maybe you know Camcoon, you know Aruba, you know Turk's cacos, you know, something like that. But you know, I don't know, but he does have terrific looking glasses. If you're seventy one or above. Look, if you're over seventy, these are the coolest. I'm
sure they block every ray. But anyway, they do the good little promo and and Gasy, you know, says, hey, we're gonna send Ava out to the ring and you just do what I would do, because you know, they are four roots one tree. Uh. So, after good little promo, uh and then and then they got trick and mellow and they
got him in the barber shop. I think it's called a cut wise or something like that, you know, and uh, you know they're chilling in the in the barbershop, and and uh, you know, that's a common thing, and it's a great place to go. It's a I don't know for the female side because I've never done it that way, but I can say on the male side, some good conversation or you'll hear some outrageous UF story. You never know when you go into the barbershop, at least the
way the way I go and the way I was brought up. But anyway, they're they're chilling at the barbershop, and uh and and Trick comes out and says, hey, you know, uh uh I'm on a new level. But I mean, you know, he's saying he's been training and and and he's ready because you know, he's you know, I'm on a new
level. So uh you know he's ready for Braun and uh so and and Mellow goes, you know, hey, I'm you know, I'm not medically clear to to uh to compete, so uh you know, hey, we've got a match for our main event, which will be Trick Of versus Braun, a breaker, so uh yeah. Then after that we've got a tag team championship match. And this actually is a good match you got dad, which is of course part of skis them. Uh and uh you got Eva out there too, and you've got the tag champs you you know, so
you know, you've got the old school guys out there. You know, you got the Coffee Brothers, you got wolf Gang and uh and they come out there and this, you know what's gonna be a good match, and it actually actually is a good match. Uh. This is one if you have a short on time and you want to go back and look at uh, you know, a shorter version of the show. You know, this is the first one you start off with diad uh and uh in Gallus and uh, it's a great match. Look you have Booker t making a free
Bird reference. Uh, so you know that's how they you know, that's a that's pretty high accolades. I mean, you know, uh, you know ps Michael Hayes and uh, well back then I knew him as Michael Hayes and Terry Bam Bam bigel not Bam big Oh my goodness, but Terry Bam Bam. And you know they always had they had a couple different guys uh in their trio. But look in the Dallas area, the free Birds toward up they saved the territory towards the end. So that's a very high
praise. But anyway, we go back to the match, and uh, the match is actually good. Gallus of course is old school. They've got that tie app wrap it up. Uh. They give you that feel of of Billy Robinson. Uh you know uh uh you know the younger people would you know, well, your parents, your younger people's parents would know Stephen Regal, Steve Regal when he wrestled, I mean that European tough style.
Uh and uh man, they pull it off to a t uh. And so the match is a few minutes in, and then you've got Stacks and Thorny d Thorny. You know, they're up in the muffett, the the Abe Lincoln Sweet up in the top of the place, you know. So and uh and and from up there, I'm sure they can see mister Fowler's of dad's is freshly shaved head because he's tan in that that head man. Anyway, Look, he looked pretty funny on a big screen TV when he got into headlock. But uh, yeah, good match man a wolf Gang.
Wow. I mean these guys are old school. Uh, you know, they just never disappoint you. Got a little taste of like a Ole and Arn versus the first time the Rock and Roll Express come in. They were doing some moves and Ole and Arn were they tied up and ground in pound or maybe the Midnight expressor input your own tag team that was popular for a four or five year period in your younger years. And that's what I'm referring to. The dad did some great moves, some flips, some uh
you know guy ducks down somebody. Uh, he's able to use him for a stepping stone up for a big move in a corner. So yes, some good tag team wrestling. You know, Mark Coffee though, is just a beast. He's as strong as can be, you know, So a good match. And then Ava Ava gets involved. And then during this they did play a little clip to where like the Creed Brothers are making in fun with mask with Ivy Now and she told him, you know, it ain't
funny. So Ava gets involved in this match. One time she pulls a foot under or whatever it may be. And then the second time she climbs up on the apron and that's when Ivy Now comes out and lays the smack of down with and so it causes distractions, distractions, big move by Gallus bang, Gallus wins. So that's how that goes. A little chase you promo after that with the guys wondering where Andrea is and uh, and you
know they're waiting on Duke because he's grading papers. But big body Ivey comes in trying to get a little airtime there, and he when he talks to Duke when he arrives after grading papers, which THEA apparently got an eighty eight on kind of not digging this so much, but they did turn it into a match. A big body is setting it up, going, hey, when you do take over chase you and Duke does have a slip up, so they are setting that up somewhat. Uh. And then yeah, the
match. You got Duke and hive and look Thea's nuts. Uh, they're both good. Uh. You know, um, it's kind of self explanatory on how the match is gonna go. Hive's gonna sell, Duke is gonna have some big moves. Duke doing the razor ramone, the cutting edge. You know that That's how I remember that move, you know, I just remember that Scott Hall really took it to another level because I'd seen other people do it, when Scott Hall did it before, Raiz Ramon the bad guy
before all that. Uh, so you know, uh Duke wins Uh you know. Okay, so you had the match, the Gallups match earlier. I told you to go watch, all right. So and then they they bring von Wagner and mister Stone in and they do a little promo with him and uh, they're they're doing a little word association and doing a little something.
Okay, filler time, I'm not bad with it. And then they keep bringing Vaughan's picture back up, a childhood picture where he had had some surgery, and they bring some Gibernian uh to make a joke about it, and of course Vaughan's gonna snatch him up, and they have a comical in to that. So yeah, uh you know. Of course after that, after Ivy gets involved, you got a little clash with the Gallus guys and the Creed brothers. So uh, they got to talk a little smack them
and they will have another match. But hey, look they've got Eddie Thorpe and and Damon Kemp coming out for a match. And look, you know, Eddie Thorpe is following in the Native American theme. He comes out with a modern version of what I used to see Why Who McDaniel are several other uh Indian native Indian wrestlers that would come out and they would wear their uh native ring garb and everything. It was it was a great show. They you know, it was a three or four minute entrance uh and everything.
So uh, Eddie Thorpe a great kid. Uh looks really like a modern day why Who McDaniel with the big chops and everything. So uh and he got Damon Kemp, which is freaking great ring wise because of his MMA background. But look, Damon's been working and he's it's like he's in time, but he's a little slow. I mean, he's that close. I can see a faction or something coming up because he's almost ready. But look they had a pretty good match. You know. Uh, Eddie gets the win
in this, so Damon is going to give him the push. But you know, um, Damon keeps impressing me. You know, he's a solid, solid prospect, uh you know, so you know, and and and of course after that, they do a little Braun promo and bronze uh kind of you know tweets out or Instagram or whatever. These wacky kids are doing today. But he puts out a message that he's going to put Trick in the same hospital that he put mellow. Uh. So that is the update
on that. So we go from there to a dragging Off and die Jack match, and look, drugging Off is freaking great. I love him. I love him, you know, uh, since finding him about a year ago and uh and uh going back through some tape and everything, I freaking love him. Uh, you know, and Jack Jack's big uh. And so they have a match and they're building their building died Jack, but they got a match. Uh, Dragon Off comes out man and his chops.
Uh you know Dragon you know, his entrance is great and everything, but man, he starts off the match with just echoing chops to the chest, just lights died Jack's chest up. Uh. And then and Jack took it tonight, you know, for a while, you know, you know, and and you know and and of course you know, everybody's got to sell. But tonight I saw a you know, and not a young by Backlan, but I saw a season Bob Backling with dragging off, dragging off.
Uh. So, man, it was it was just a good match because man, look uh uh dragging Off is not gonna let you down, die Jack. You know, he had a he threw dragging Off at one point in the match, and he threw him like a rag doll. Uh And that was pretty impressive on that, you know, uh, that one thing. But the ending, the ending was weak. The ending was weak. Um d Jack goes that and gets a chair. He you know, he
brings a chair in, He throws the ref uh. He he gets him outside, he does the uh. I guess you'd say the Alabama whoop. I own him outside. I just the he pushed the stairs over and you've got a gap in there, and and it just didn't look good. They penned uh, they penned Tyler. I mean they penned dragging Off up under the uh uh the uh ring steps and uh and dragging Off got up and stood on him victorious and and all of that good stuff. It just it's
almost like he had enough room for a puppy up under there. So I just it wasn't a good look. Weekend Weekend but mentioned mentioning Tyler bait, which man, you put Tyler bait and dragging Off together, you got the modern day. Uh, you know, Hollywood blondes or something like that. But anyway, you got to Tyler. A little promo with Tyler baton Westley. Westley lets him know that, hey, you were there for me last week. I will be there. But uh, you know, west drops
a little good one. He They're in the steam room, you know, and Tyler's doing meditation and everything, and he walks in and he goes, I hadn't seen this much smoke since I was hanging around with riddles, So I kind of like that, you know, good little reference there, getting back on some drugger have there if they anyway, they go from that to
a Charlie Dempsey and Tyler bait match. The megaleleg guy man that he looks like freaking tree stumps Charlie Dempsey. Just another reference back to Billy Robinson. Man. Just a solid wrestler, a solid match. As you go back and watch this one. This is two matches now that you can watch European style. Just good match, just freaking u you know, they got a Claudio type spin by, you know, I mean, it's just a good match. Now. Dempsey's going to end up winning this match, but it's
not without controversy. So of course you gotta get gays involved, and then West gets involved, and then Drew gets involved, and I'm blaming it on Gaysey's glasses, but yeah, Gasey gets a cheap shot in rolls up. Uh, you know, dragging off, you know, it is what it is. Dempsey wins the match, uh, and in their building towards it. So I, you know, I got no problem with this, but this is not a good you know, bad match, And so go back
and watch watch this, you know. Uh, they come back with a little quick promo that Mellow sees the tweet that Braun put out, so he decides not to get lined up tonight. And he's just gonna going back and and and and and stand by his man so or stand by his friend. Uh so yeah, so they go back that and after that they're going to a Brooks and Briggs you know, Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen, uh, going against Hank Walker and Tank Ledger and uh, Tank Ledger, you know,
tough guy, you know, loses a tooth in this match. So you gotta love a guy that if he didn't lose it, he sold it. So so Hank Walker and Tank say they want to get some you know, some repetition they need in ring time, so you know, they get the match with their good old buds and uh they start off like a haymaker. They just go into it and they're tearing butt up. So good start, you know, good energy with the whole match. Uh, you got some young guys, but nia in this situation, Brooks and uh and and
Briggs are both the elder statesman as you would say. But yeah, pretty good match. They kick a little butt tank loses the tooth and they shake hands. Sounds like a a tipin County or a Memphis Friday or Saturday night in some places I ran back in the day. But they go into a promo with this number or no m dar uh and uh. You know they're really pushing him, and you know they got him with dragon Lake coming up. But Nathan Frazier comes looking like a freaking rock star out of this good
segment there. He's even passing the torch on the uh the little promo segment of the little talk show too, dar and uh and just good. You know, I think uh, mister Frasier's is called enlightened. I think it's what he calls it. But wow, good good segment. Not just a filler in time, and then they go back for the you know, the second round of the qualifying matches for the Ladies title against Yanna James and Lyra
Vicara. And then look strong match and this is another go back and watch because I'm gonna tell you both these ladies, Um, you know, they could be competing in the main rosters. Uh. Look, man, they they put on a hell of a match. You know. I gotta say I was, you know, pleasantly surprised. Um. Uh you know, I hold it to a Charlotte Flair kind of degree of everything. But look,
man, it was a great match. U Both ladies I think got over h you know, I mean it's just it was solid solid uh you know, uh Val wins Um. You know, I didn't like to set up towards the end, but hey man, these ladies are going to be knocking on some doors. Uh. So they go from that to ah, you know, Tony din and Stacks. They just they just roll up in
Gallis's Pub and and try to get a title shot. And they roll up in there and Joe Coffee, you know, I think he takes a little uh a little offensive, you know, and uh, you know, and Tony lets them know how your state side. You know you're here, I got friends and uh and then towards the end, there's a tire checker, a eighteen wheeler tire checker that's brought up or I call it an attention getter, and um and some other backup comes up and the guys decide to hey,
you know, live to fight another day. So from there, you're gonna have a trick and Braun in a in a a good match. You know. I got to say, the crowd was really behind trick, of course, but man, uh Tricks got to look. Uh, he's really got He's so close on the mic. Uh you know that you know Ben from Memphis whoop that trick is played at all of our athletic events and everything. It's a Memphis song and uh so yeah, they were hollering that, you know, with the good luck. You know. Hey, but hey,
look, Braun, I'm really digging the switch. I really liked the switch. And Braun's taken to it pretty easy. Uh so, uh you know, hey, you know, could he pull an upset tonight? You know, but when they start the match out, Tricks comes out strong and uh, he's picking Braun up and moving Braun and a lot of times, like when when they were doing the Goldberg push, whenever Goldberg they did put him up against somebody that tried to give a good look. He didn't look
right. When they were like shoulder you know, shoulder tackle him or moving him into the corner to set up for move. He just, you know, he just didn't look right. And early in Brock's career, you know, the same type. So you know, you can go back to some of the MMA guys back from the nineties, Kim Shamrock. But they learned and they they got to it, and and and and Broun showed me that he uh, you know, he had that like, oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm getting picked up kind of look, you know, And
I think it would sell. I think he's, uh, he's really pulling this off, you know. I mean the crowd was behind Trick. Uh. You know, Trick had a couple of big, you know chances towards the end. You know, you know, I like it. I like the match was good. I mean I definitely say go back and watch it. So he got three matches out of this, uh show that I recommend, you know, two ends one, ladies. Uh, you know, Broun brings up the kind of Scott Stuna. Look, you know some of
his actions. You know, he does the push ups and uh you know he can do it all day, you know, and you know, so Braun maybe kind of on a different level in this kind of dear uh you know deal. But yeah, he gets a big spear. Uh you know, he does the recliner, uh, the Steiner recliner, and of course he's going to go back after the match and uh and throw down on him
and put him in the hospital. And uh, once he gets started, Melo of course comes out and Melow does his thing, and he does a couple of little things, but then he gets caught and he gets caught coming off those ropes with his move and uh speared out of his boots. Braun looks great. The show goes off the air, So that is going to give you a little a little review there of the end x T show this
