God, I'm Sam Wood. This is your motivational moment, and it would be remiss of me as we wind up twenty twenty two to not get you to start thinking about goal setting for twenty twenty three. Now. I'm not at all saying you need to start actioning these. Enjoy your December, but I do see often people rush their goal setting. It's the fifth of januarinely, oh, I haven't really said any goals. I'm any miny money and I'm just going to do that and it doesn't really work.
You really want to give it some thought. You want to give it some time. It should be really personal to you and that will give you the best chance of success. You don't need to have too many goals. I mean, there's always the smart principle when it comes to goal setting, which just as a reminder is it should be specific, it should be measurable, it should be achievable, it should be relevant, relevant to you, as I said,
and it should be time based. So this is what I want to achieve within a one month period, of three month period in twenty twenty three, whatever it might be on that last one on time. Don't set a goal for the whole year. You can have an idea in your head to where you want to be at the end of twenty twenty three. But I see much greater success for people that either work in a one month or a two month block. So just think, for now, what do I want to achieve in January. That's going
to be building block number one. That's going to again, it's going to be achievable, it's going to be measurable, it's going to be very specific. I'm going to set that twenty eight day or one month goal. I'm going to achieve that. When I achieve that, what's that going to do. It's going to give me self belief, it's going to give me momentum to carry through into the month, the other months for the rest of the year. And it's going to be the first building block that I'm
putting in place as I tick these things off. And you might have a different way one month goal for your health, as you do your work, as you do your family. You might have three goals, but they're all a one month goal each or a two month goal each. So I would absolutely recommend that that's where you start. Don't look too far ahead because you'll lose your way, you become disenchanted by it, or you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, you kind of
forget what that goal even was. You want to write it down, You want to see it regularly, you know, write it on the mirror, in a whiteboard marker, put it on the fridge, put it somewhere that you're going to see pretty much on a daily basis, so it's front and center. You don't lose your way. It's not too big because it's only within a thirty day block, and it's not too far away because it's only in the thirty day block. I'm really really big on that. The next thing I'm going to say is it doesn't
have to start on gen one. Gen one is just one of three hundred and sixty five days. If you're not ready, and by that I mean if you're not in the right psychological space, not in the right environment, if it's not the best platform for you to give it the time and the focus that it needs, don't start it yet. I see great success from people from a fitness perspective when they start on the first Effeir.
Kids are back at school, I'm back in my work routine, all of the social activities that involve alcohol and structures kind of out the window are slowly dissipating, and I can finally now look after me because I've kind of been taken care of the whole family. I see this with mums a lot. They're juggling everything, they're looking after everyone. They tend to put themselves last. They try to start a goal on the tenth of gen and it lasts
about three days and it doesn't really work. And what really sort of breaks my heart is they almost think that, oh, well, I tried, I tried in that year and it didn't work. But if they'd started it three weeks later, it would have stuck, they would have seen it through and the whole year could have had a different story. So wait till the right time, remove the distractions or way till those distractions naturally dissipate, and then be really specific with
what you want to achieve. As I said, for the next thirty or sixty days, over the next couple of weeks between now and Christmas, I want you to write down one, what is your goal You're thirty or sixty day goal. I'll let you choose two. When is going to be the right time for me to start that. And then three go through that smart principle as a bit of a checklist to make sure that you've done it right. Is it specific, is it measurable, is it achievable?
Is it relevant to me? And then from a time perspective, yes, it's thirty to sixty days. But when it's wrought Tom to staff, H
