Everyone welcome to the weathering effect episode. 143. Today's date is May 8 Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Happy Mother's Day. I am Duds versus known to the rest of the interwebs and I just popped my chest. I'd ask how your week is. Well, I got to introduce myself. My name is Jimbo. Yeah, you may know me as Jimbo slice 23, I, I would Off Script so much. You Jimbo off? Yeah. Yeah, I didn't even read my script. So Off Script. Yeah, it's Mother's Day.
That's it. It is Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day Mother's. Yeah, my week was rough. A lot of work and personal stuff. I actually took a short week this week. I had Friday off but I spent Friday at the car dealership because my air conditioning stopped working in my car. Hmm. Getting to those summer months to heal. Exactly. Most people, this isn't an issue, especially still at this time of year. But in North Carolina were already in the 90s. What?
Yeah, it was 93 last week. Wow, so it get hot. Oh man, so I'm driving home and the air conditioning just doesn't doesn't seem to be working and the earliest I could get me in was Friday. So I take it in there. I bought an extended warranty on my car. Normally something I never do but my gut told me.
You when I purchased the car spin, the extra two thousand dollars because that's all it cost was two thousand dollars and it covered the car bumper to bumper everything in it for an extra 2,000 bucks for 60,000 miles. Now, did they ask you? If you wanted extended warranty, or did you ask? They did ask me? Okay, so I was going to say, if you ask them, they probably didn't know what to do. Yeah, but we started fumbling over stop. Dropping everything.
Like what? Well, the car had its factory warranty still. Well, okay, but it was only for 10,000 miles. Mmm. So I added an extra 60 on top of that, which meant my car had basically a warranty on it for 90,000 miles, which was nice. That's insane. And the fact that it was only an extra 2,000 dollars and I was already getting a huge deal on my car. Like my car payment is under 200 bucks a month. Yeah, that's a really good deal. Yeah, so it's really good deal. I was like, yeah, worth it.
And then when the AC died, I went, yes, at least I have warranty information because I was pretty sure. It was a heater core leaking. I'm good. So I take it in and they're like what you want to drop it off. I'm like no and then like this is going to take a couple hours ago. Yes, sit right here. Anyone who deals with car dealerships know if you just drop your car off and it's a warranty. Your last. Hmm. They move you to the back of the line.
They're going to do what the people who are in the waiting room first and then you'll come up. I didn't know that. Now I do, hmm. I sat there and I waited and I waited five hours later. They come. Back to me, turns out, there is nothing technically wrong with the are cashing. It was out of freon. It was under 30 percent full and that was the issue. They checked it for leaks. They tore apart stuff. They put some some glow liquid
in there. So if it was leaking, you flash a black light on it and you'll see where it's leaking. It said it couldn't find a leak. They tested the car. They let the car run for an hour to make sure no leaks and then I was cooling properly and I finally get my car back, but Freon is Consider the maintenance saying and it is not covered under warranty. So I'd pay 170 bucks. What? Wow, what are the odds?
Well, the diagnostic test is 140 something dollars and if there was something wrong with the car, the diagnostic test would be covered under the warranty. But because it was a free on thing and freons not considered something wrong with the car. It's a maintenance thing. I had to pay for the test and then $30 for the freon. Yeah, you think be a little quicker than five hours to get it. Out of there, if that's what the issue was. Well, they ripped apart the dash.
Yeah, to make sure because the dash is near the heater core. The heater cores near the dash and stuff, and they checked all through their. Make sure there wasn't blockage in the vents and stuff because I mentioned at one point at these little white specks shooting out the air vent, and it turns out because it was low on Freon. The coil was freezing over and I was seeing little pieces of like ice shootout. Yeah. That was my work week. Minecraft week though. I played a lot of single player
and I really shouldn't have. I almost put a single player episode out this week, but I'm going to kind of wait on that a little bit. I decided to hop on Ripple and I'm making, I've decided to convert my new storage room, into my Village or trading home. And then I'm building another building for stone Smith because I realized I don't have any villagers that trade the cool, the blocks like quartz and
stuff. So I'm going to get those guys set up. We get my Librarians set up in my new bottom, quote, storage room area, and I'm just going to keep reworking my house because I loved this starter house. So much. Just going to keep working it till it sufficient enough to live. Okay, but the big thing like I found last night, I need an auto smelter. I tried smelting, a bunch of clay for some bricks. Oh, you're so slow.
Hmm. Well the first things that build, yeah, even if it's not huge, I think I have a ace eight, furnace Auto smelter now. Still doesn't seem big enough but it works. Yeah, I mean, all previous Seasons. I usually just do an eight furnace one and the one in my house is six, but I'm it's I have to manually separate the items to get the Evenflo. Yeah, and we were like, well what just do them all in there? It's like well, I'm trying to make it the less items.
It's melts, the faster. It goes type of thing. Less fuel you use. Yeah, all that and fuels. Not really an issue. Now, because of the blaze farm, yeah. Yeah, yeah that helps. You don't want to have one furnace done for three minutes while you're waiting on another one to finish up. So, yeah, I need to get a good Auto furnace built. So after the episode that's out and I shouldn't say out. Now, that's coming out. Now. There will probably be a auto smelter built.
Yeah, that's been my week. We recorded some fun stuff last night. Mmm. The intro of the next episode. I'm just did a skit. Yeah, and I nice little skit, I think that's going to be fun. I think a lot of You're gonna laugh at that, yeah, I think it turned out really. Well, it's all your idea. My idea. What? Oh, yeah. This the idea for the skit. Yeah. Yeah, you came up to me and told me a little bit about it. I was like, yeah, this is going to be good. I want to do this.
It was like, I was like, Jimbo, I need you for the skit. Here's the thing. Like, before I even finish. Like, yeah, let's go. Hmm. Yeah, I had stuff to do too. I was like, I got to stop what I'm doing and do this. Yeah, sounds fun. I did a lot of recording this week. No, no. Actually put out. Out three videos, three videos within a week bad man. I've never done that before. But I put out a ripple effect episode. I think I mentioned on the last episode. I was working on these.
Actually, by the time you hear this might be for we're a little bit behind on the episodes, but I've released three this week or last week, ripple effect tutorial and a short shorts are relatively easy. It's getting easier. At least. I have all my settings written down brick, and put my settings. In and just do my editing. That way, makes it a lot easier if you have if you're prepared.
Mmm, but the tutorial I did was for Gathering music discs from creepers, pretty much the tutorial of the killing chamber. It you can hook it up to any creeper form. Really. Yeah. I do show a little example of the creeper form that I built. That was actually doing pretty well. So I put that in there as well. So if you guys need a music disc tutorial, check it out. So I'm going to YouTube Jimbo's. Ice 23, stainless plug. Put a there is no Shameless plug on your own podcast. Right?
Shouldn't I feel Shameless? Anyways, I started building Heaven. Yes, the big project that I have been in creative mode for weeks. Now, trying to build and come up with, I broke ground. I put in the heaven Gates, the portal. And today. I actually test it out because I Forget to test out, not not the portal linking, that worked out that worked out well, but I forgot to test out if I were to die, am I going to spawn in heaven? Like that was the whole idea.
You die, you go to heaven. That was that's where it came from. Hmm. So I was like, I'm going to build heaven because the build limit is a lot higher. I thought it'd be fun to be different and I guess I could save that for my next video. But then, again, I feel like this video be out before the Podcast. So, I spawned in heaven. Nice. Let you guys know. Spoiler alert. I spawned in heaven and I won't have to move anything around because that would have been.
So that woman such a big setback. Another thing. I mentioned this to you earlier. I am using a lot of copper blocks. When I'm building this thing. Yes, my block palette. I'm using gold. I'm using copper oxidized copper. It's got to be fully oxidized. I want the green because I'm using the Prismarine, I'm using prismarine and or the person moving bricks and the warp would use those to grade the green and I went through, and I oxidize them all. I was AFK for a while.
Finally, got all these things oxidize. I took them. I converted them into stairs and I put them in my chest ready to go. And I go back to my build before I start building this thing, just to check and make sure I have all the blocks. I need and realize I'm not using. Copper oxidized stairs, I'm using full blocks and there's no way to reconvert these stairs. So I have like a whole shulker box of oxidized copper stairs that I don't need. So I had to go back down in the caves in mind.
So check this out. I went to the Mesa because I need gold to us. I might as well go to go Mesa. Get some gold while get the copper or get some copper while I get the gold actually, because there's a lot of gold. It took me like 15. Minutes and I had like nine stacks of raw copper blocks. Yeah, there is a ton of caught. I don't know if it's a Mesa thing. There was a dripstone cave there. It might be a dripstone cave thing, but it took me. No time to get this copper. Now.
I just have to AFK and oxidize it again. But yeah, I wish there was a quicker way to oxidize it and getting copper is not the hard part. No, it's the oxidizing, right? Yeah, and I thought Thought I remember, there's a thing, where if you hit it with lightning it you can change it in. My my thought was okay. I know you can scrape the oxidized or the yeah. The oxidized part off of the copper converted back to Copper. I think the lightning does the opposite.
No, it does the same thing. It takes you back to clean copper. So I hit it with lightning and you do another step backwards. So, yeah, I'd you just time, is the only way to do it. You just gotta wait on it and I was on the server for that you like Duds. I need thunderstorm real quick. We can manually change these things using Winters. Whether Rod. Mmm, how's it going? Yeah. Okay, you spun a chat. That didn't work. Yeah. Well that was a waste of time that it work. I got footage of it.
So yeah, my reaction wasn't too great besides that. I think that's about it with the server. I was able to collab with the couple of members. Awesome. You in particular, and oh, I my work week is actually going to be starting. And soon I just got a job. I got hired on with my brother-in-law. Now, he works at a coal plant doing maintenance and he works six days a week. We do get Saturday's off, but I will be working normal
scheduling time for the podcast. So we have to move that time around, but besides that, I don't plan on, you know, leaving the podcast or anything. I plan on keeping my content regular. If I can we're going to see how it goes. But yeah, just letting you know, I I am going to be starting work back soon and I'll be working a little more than I used to, but shouldn't be too hard to catch on. Yeah, my hobby is this. This is what I like to do on my spare time.
So I don't plan on changing that. Awesome. That's about it for my week. I still gotta do my physical for my job and I'm pretty fit. So don't worry about it. If I really want out, I can just flick fall on the treadmill. Yeah, when I do my fitness test, I can't lift these five-pound blocks. That's like fall over twist my ankle. Oh my back. Okay, I can't see anything. I'm totally blind. That'd be funny. All right, but let's hop into the news.
All right, there's a lot of technical changes in this snapshot, but you're going to see a lot of news. A lot of technical changes and a lot of it. We're not going to cover stuff like the new place command or you can just basically plop down entire Villages. Mmm, wherever you want. It's pretty neat. Yeah, there's Chat changes, but it's tough. We're not the best people to tell you how they work. So we'll leave that to the professionals if you'd rather
get that. But some of the stuff we are going to talk about is delays Canal. Follow you. If they can't see you, which is Dice. Yep. I think it's 64 blocks. Yeah, they'll lose you if you're over 64 blocks. Now, my thing is we were talking about this for the show. Why don't the LA just teleport to you? Like all your animals and pets do. Yeah. I don't know. I only thing I could think of is because they have a task. You know, they have an AI to do something. They might be.
Yeah. Doing something. If you leave that area, maybe because they're holding an item. Maybe. Yeah, they would have to teleport all that with them and their inventory. Yeah. Yeah, don't they? I think they freeze if you leave them so far away, at least that's what it was. It kind of frees in that area. Yeah. Mike insistence for the islet.
Is still the same, they're cool. I will have a little buddy, making a auto sorting storage system of these guys seems like it's way too efficient for it's good. Hmm. In the nether if you're doing a small thing I could see. It may be working there. But yeah ice pass water still the main best way. Yeah. There's a there's an example. How in the video we watched the player goes cave.
Being with the islet and tries to lose the Olay, little the islet keeps up, but I can't ever see myself taking in to lay into dangerous situations. Because if I die, you kind of, I guess, you have to get back there, but you kind of lose him and then you're putting him in danger or the the islet in danger, always say him. I don't know, I do that. But the islet is always in danger, if you're in danger, but like I said before, resource Gathering is probably the My
would take the little guy out. Yeah, the only other thing I'd like a change is the ability to have an islet sit. It sounds weird because technically they're not like pets but a way to keep them in the same area because as of right now the only way to do that is really to Kate them. Laughs right? That's true. Don't want to have to cage up this islet. If I don't want to use it, can you put him on a lead? You can lead the LA. So that's something you can do.
Seems mean. Though, it doesn't seem like a mob that needs, you know, a leash, you know, it just Ryan feels wrong. Exactly. So even if it doesn't sit, just hey, stay right here. I'll be back. Exactly. I'll be back home later. Yeah. Sit tight Sam. Yeah. I mean, I guess you could always bring it into a house and let it fly around the house. Mmm. That's not so bad. Put a little maid outfit on be funny or Butler outfit. Some other changes.
The sonic boom particle for when the warden start screaming at you because he doesn't like you. Mmm, Yeah, that's been updated. It looks cool. It looks more violent. So that helps, you know, that's a bad thing. It's not a big difference, but it is a little different. Still in the deep dark. The vibration listeners such as skulk sensors and skulk shriekers and wardens. They now listen to the closest vibration instead of the first vibration. Okay, they're going to hunt you
down. Even better now. It was like, all right there. Oh, yeah. Okay. I thought that meant something different still gonna die in the Deep. Definitely not take it in a lay down in the deep dark. Yeah, unless there's like, you know, you're Gathering stuff up, but I don't know. No, what'd you do that?
For? Actually if you're fighting the warden and I lay probably would be a good distraction with how much it moves around and makes noise because when it moves it makes noise it does that little Chime sound? Yeah, they do have some kind of noise. They make. Yeah, but since I can't see a way to breed it lays yet. That means sacrificing one for a warden seems kind of mean, right? Yeah, they don't come around too often.
No, that's true. They did make it to where, you know, it's not easy to kill in the way, but you can, it can't happen. Yeah. Lava thinks going to be the biggest thing. Keep them clear of lava. Hopefully, they know to track around it, but not sure yet. Haven't had one. Yeah, I haven't seen anyone navigate it around. Lava. Yes, and that's kind of it for the news small update. They're getting smaller and smaller. It's mainly bug fixes. And obviously we're nearing summertime.
So I have a feeling we're going to see a pre-release? Not too long. Yeah, do you think the I could see another bug fix, snapshot maybe two, but yeah, besides that, this is what we're getting what we got now. Yeah, I don't see any other big things coming. No, I think we mentioned on last episode. We were looking forward to seeing what the Birch forest was going to look like. And it doesn't seem like, any
talk about that is coming. So as much as you know, you see the concept art, there is no mention about it besides that. I wish they would just like, say something though. Yeah, be nice. Like we had this with the archaeology update. They just kind of came out and said, yeah, it's not fitting. We were not going to do this time. That would be nice.
Hmm, so At least we know it's a, some people say, yeah, because they have really said anything about the birds Force doesn't mean it's we're expected to get this. But it's just, you know, when you see these things on an update live event. Why wouldn't you expect this to come out? You know, yeah, that's just the way I see it. The only thing I can say in favor of it is we know, definitely not from the past couple years. Anything we see in the Minecon live also. Object to change, right?
Least we know where their mindsets at I guess. Yeah, it definitely seems like biomes are the main concentration for years to come. Yeah, but don't expect it. I should go ahead and hop into some listener comments. Sure quite a few here. We're going to start with short-sighted 222 because this is a quick easy, fun one. And it's what is the sound effect? You like least in the game. And what is the sound effect you like most in the game. The one I use the most is my transition. Titian.
I use a nice quick whoosh effect. They're talking in game Jimbo, not your videos, not my videos. Okay. Well, never mind. Then you want to go first then? Yeah. My least favorite sound effect is the Shrieker scream. Really? Yeah. I don't like that. Creeps me out. And my favorite sound effect is bone block. Whether it be placing it or walking on it mining it. I love bone block. Yeah. I was going to say, boom Block. It's so good. Did place a lot of amethyst blocks recently?
I do like the sound of those Chimes. I don't know if there's any dislikes. I have to be honest. I Know. Carl does not like that. Honey sound in the duck. Oh, yeah. That sounds me. Yeah. Yeah, you know what? That might be my least favorite or just the buzzing of the bees in general. I don't like buzzing. I can see that in their bees. Mainly The Buzz. In game. Yep, there it is, in game.
I said we should fact geez. I was thinking about that when I was reading it in the Discord. I was like, oh, yeah, I could talk about some of the sound effects. I use. Would you like to go ahead and read the one from kitson? Yeah. There's one from kitson here. It says, if you could add a boss to the game. What would it be? I know you briefly talk about the Kraken and probably others since there are currently only two real bosses. I like the idea of localized bosses.
So Like the Elder, Guardian, the prismarine, where their skeletons Nether fortresses, and stuff like that brutes. And yeah, but you localize bosses would be the big thing for me instead of bigger bosses. Like, I don't see the ender dragon as the big bad boss. It's just the boss of the end. Hmm. See I see two bosses main bosses. Well, yeah, that's kind of what they said in the comment, you know, you you're with her and you're dragging, they Because they have a Boss Bar above.
And what were you saying? The one the bosses in game bosses, or you calling those? Oh, localized bosses localized bosses. Yeah, never heard that term before. But yeah, that's a good term for all the other tougher Hostile Mobs. You get you don't see him as often. Yeah. I I keep seeing art concept art. This is it for Mojang but I think it's from dungeons. How they have a king. Blaze. And I think that would be a cool boss to find in a fortress as of
right now. Yeah, I think the toughest thing to come across in the Fortress is the Wither. Skeleton. I don't by any means, see them as a boss because of how they spawn. They respawn brutes are different. They don't respawn. That's true. Elder Guardians. Don't respond. Yeah, maybe a king Blaze. Even if it was a localized boss. Yeah. I saw a couple pictures of that and I was like, man. Man, that would be cool to come across in every Fortress. Not sure what they would drop
though. Have to be something special. Yeah, last question we have is from raker. They asked, what are some of your fondest / most nostalgic memories of early Minecraft experiences. I've got one go ahead. So I built my first survival multiplayer base and it's as large tower. That was very modern looking and I was super excited for it.
It was a curve. Crazy Design that I was super happy with it, but I needed a door and I wasn't about to just build, build a door frame in the, put a wooden door there or an iron door. I wanted a piston door. But because the front of this Tower is All Glass, like completely glass - the door frame. I couldn't hide Pistons or whatever. So I took a 3 by 3 Redstone door Contraption and figure it out.
Out what parts did what and was able to remove a good chunk of it. Basically the outside in the top. So I had a one by two tall door and it acted like a hipster door were all the Pistons and mechanics were underground and it would pull the two blocks down underground and then you could walk through it. And then it would push the two blocks up. And being able to figure out Redstone, even though it was someone else's design to be able to figure out what part did. What? Let me know that.
Hey, you know what? You can figure out Redstone and that's what started, the whole technical building for me. Yeah, the technical building with the Redstone is what really got me, but when I started, I remember when I started, I built, the probably the worst house I've ever seen. It's all Cobblestone. I lived in a cave for a little while. I was so scared because I did not survive. The first night. I didn't know, I didn't know anything about This game. Mmm. I just played it.
I went through I did like the tutorial part. I was like, oh that's cool. You can crap different things in the game and get different blocks because at first, when I first initially got the game, I thought you can mine This Grass and you can place grass. I'm like this is this isn't any fun? You know, this is your only blocks I get. But yeah, you can get blocks by crafting and so I started playing survival and it was the
first night. I don't think I survived I may have but Early, I know I got attacked and I was scared like, it was so I don't know. I was in this game playing and I was scared for my life and I started building little by little to wear. Like, it was everything was real tight and small and eventually I made a mind to go down and I was getting Kabul in this sort of building on to the Kabul.
And then I'd switch my cobbler out for stone bricks, you know, I was finding more and more blocks in the game and I was getting excited, then I Came Upon Redstone for One. I broke it because I didn't know you needed iron. I didn't know anything. Hmm. I didn't know a thing. I broke diamonds.
You know, I did. I broke every rule in the book at the beginning but it has to be some of my funnest and memorable experiences though when you don't know what to do and you're figuring out for yourself when I came across the Redstone and I'm like, I got to YouTube. How do I get these diamonds? And I didn't know they were diamonds. But, you know, you needed an iron pickaxe. So I did that and I'm like, what do? Do with the diamonds.
Will I do it? This Redstone and when I come across the Redstone on YouTube, I was like, oh my God, this game is huge. So, mmm. That's what really, that's what really did it for me. Nice. You almost want to go back. Yeah, forget it all and do it again, but we know too much. Now, we're on another level Duds. Whole nother level still, not that great, but we're not in the upper level, but we're not on the bottom level. No, not on the bottom anymore. Thank you guys so much for those
comments. This Events were from the Discord is the only place where you can talk to everyone who works on the show, easily. Just take Casas word for it. Is this thing on? I'm cast and I'm here to figure out why you have yet to join the withering effect Discord. It's a great place to hang out with order Minecraft enthusiasts and the creators of the show. The link to join the Discord is
in the show notes. Thank you for the Discord, add Cass. And speaking of the Discord is the only place you can get involved in our mending Minecraft vote this week. We asked you to choose between one of three, biomes for us to discuss and improve your choices. Were dripstone cave, flower forest in warm ocean in the winner of mending Minecraft. This week is flower forest or lure Forest. Yeah. Fluor has a typo. I got a typo. Yep. I didn't realize that I was looking.
I was checking the voting numbers. Well, I was saying that. Wow. Yeah, I did been up here for a while, to the far force had 24 votes, 19 for the dripstone cave and only 34. The warm ocean thought dripstone cave is going to win there for a minute, but I was like, I feel like flower Forest should win this. Yeah, I knew warm. Ocean wasn't going to because out of the three War. Emotion. Feels the most complete.
Yeah, there's a lot to it. Few things here on the floor Force. Before we start the flower forest biome was introduced to 1.7 in his place where you can find almost every flower type in the game. The only ones not found in this biome or sunflowers blue orchids and withered roses. Of course, this is the only biome where you can find white red, orange and pink tulips. Wolves. Do not spawn here, but rabbits
can bees and bee nest. Also spawn in this biome or Commonly and Birch and oak trees are the only trees that are generated here. Also, that's it for the flower force and I have 11 fix for the flower Forest, but it's kind of a big one. And I want colored forests. The flower Forest are nice. And I like how you can build a flower farm, like, whatever colors you see, growing out of the ground. That's what's going to
consistently grow there. And that's really nice for or Flower Farms because you can like, okay. I've got a load of different colors in. This one section. I can build my flower farm and that gives me a load a different flowers and load a different dies. When I'm proposing is to go in the opposite direction. And it's just because someone to have pictures I've seen in some Nature, Documentaries, and books
and magazines and stuff. And I've seen these pictures of these thick wooded floor forests where you have, like one color of flour dominating the entire forest floor. So like you would have red tulips. So it would be an oak tree grass, red tulips, that was it on every single block on the ground. Wow. It was just this super thick flowered area, but it's gorgeous. And I would love to have colored sections like that. So they could be a what are they called?
The Box chunk. They could be chunk specific. Hmm. Okay, like this chunks, red tulips, this chunk is Is lilacs alone's stuff like that. I would really like, yeah, the first thing you think about, or at least we think about when you hear about a flower Force, when you come across a flower force is dies, you know, we could farm this, we can get every color almost every color in the game from a flower Forest. That's the only thing I really think about when it comes to a flower Forest.
I'm not. I don't use flowers often in my builds. I don't even you know, don't like the be He's so it's not my favorite biome, but I don't really have a fix. It's what I'm going, what I'm going with it. Yeah, the dies are an important part of Minecraft, especially the more customizable. We're getting the stuff and I do like, the way flower forests are now how you can set up a single Farm in a certain area and get all the colors. It's like that is cool.
But visually see. Seeing these images were stunning. So I don't know. Maybe this could be a biome within a biome kind of like how you have the bamboo inside a jungle. Okay, or could be like if you have large, scaled biomes enabled that be more common to have like, right? Chunk specific flowers. Yeah, that case that flower force would be huge. Hmm. Let's move on to our main topic in this is actually listener. Comment from Helen. Angel is such a good question.
We saved it for the end. It's a Part question. So answer the first part first and then we'll move on to the second part which is a bit larger first. How does the, how does the update aquatic rank against newer Minecraft updates. This was the first large update that I remember. Mmm. And that a massive part of the world changed, but I also remember when it first came out super laggy, right? It was almost unplayable. Yeah, anytime a codfish.
Swam into another codfish. The frames would drop by like half. Yeah, it was pretty bad. Plus we had when we played on the ripple effect. As first time, we got to the ripple effect. Yeah, was during the Aquatic update. So there's 10 people on at a time and that generates a lot of a lot of fish. And yeah, it was, it was brutal Evers brutal. But, you know, eventually after so many updates, it was able to be fixed.
Honestly, I would rather Update or rank update aquatic higher than any of the most recent updates. Hmm, really? Yep, and not necessarily for features or blocks because I think deep slates the best block palette in the game right now, but what it did to waterways in Minecraft oceans rivers lakes bringing in the schools of fish bringing in Kel seagrass turtles. Yeah. It just brought so much vibrant life to the game, that it was something, the game needed,
drastically. And I don't think we have gotten that in any other parts of the Overworld. Yet. We're getting frogs in the swamp, which are going to help. We have birds in The Jungle, which are good, but like you go into other areas. I don't know. It's even though they're they're sheep. There's cows or pick the world. Still feels empty. Yeah, that's one thing about the oh In real life, it's full of life, tons of life. And in the Minecraft game before this update.
It was pretty Barren. They added, what think? There's hundreds of different combinations of tropical fish. Maybe thousands, not sure. There's a lot that there's Dolphins, but not only that, like it paved the way for glow squid, or Turtles. I think Turtles came after the Aquatic update. But yeah, it really did live in it up a little bit, not too. Not too often. I use like the coral blocks or the Oils, but they're still blocks that bring life to an area right?
Coral fans. Yeah, and I'm not saying I know how to make certain areas more lively because I don't so I understand right now how everything's at I would like to see the birds and the jungles fly around a bit more. You don't ever really see any fly. They're usually just kind of sitting and hopping. Hmm. Yeah. I couldn't I couldn't break the Aquatic update as the highest.
I feel like The nether update was my favorite just because I can see that it went all through the nether, you know, it changed another completely. The, the nether I think was more Barren than the oceans were. Well, that's that's kind of hard to say. They didn't even have seaweed at the time. You know, we got this seaweed we got kelp got vegetation. You did get that in the nether, but you still have your Baron parts of the nether.
It can be a pain to travel through sometimes but I feel like I feel like Like the nether did a good job in bringing more to the game. You're going to move on to the second part of the question. Yeah. Second part is, why do you think Mojang stopped adding design loop back into core gameplay after Village and pillage?
Now, I asked for an expansion on the question because I wasn't sure what was being asked, and they glad fully gave me a little bit saying, basically, the core gameplay Loop is the primarily primary way. We Play the game. So for Minecraft, Survival, that would be adding things to give players a reason to explore craft in mind. Another update came close, except it made it too difficult to survive in another. So it had the opposite effect in caves and cliffs. Made it more difficult to mind.
So it had the opposite effect. So I guess more specifically. My question is, why do you think Mojang is intentionally making it more difficult to engage in core gameplay, Loop of Mining and crafting. It's a good question. Good question. Let's focus on the mining aspect in caves and cliffs because that's the most recent thing. The exploration of Minecraft is obviously there. Oh, yeah, that's been amped up to 1,000. Yeah. I think it's an all-time high.
Yes, so that's not an issue and the state, but like, what's being asked mining in crafting, the name of the game has been made more difficult. Yeah. Why the only? Well, I guess let's break it down. How it's been made more difficult. So we can explain this a little bit better as older players. Even some of the younger players will understand you. You wanted to go mining. You dug down to what? Why level 11 and your branch mind. That's how you were getting your
resources as quick as possible. So you could craft as quick as possible. So, you know, the survival aspect was in a struggle for as long now. With the way, or generates going down to the very bottom, you're going to get diamonds, but that's kind of it. You're going to get some coal. You can get a little bit of redstone. You're gonna get a little bit gold, but not enough to really Thrive to get those other things. You have to go to different, why
levels? And some of the things are easier to find when exposed to an AIR block, which is supposed to lean more into. You should cave more than mine. Hmm. I never have liked caving. They could remove all the caves in Minecraft. It would not affect my game play. No, I see. I love caving whenever I'm bored. Like, I could I needed gold right for my build and I am signed up on the server. There's a goat farm. I'm signed up to go AFK there.
I'd rather go find it. I like, I like exploring these caves. I like finding new areas and spawner. Honors and loot. No, you know caves don't have the best loot but I like seeing these new areas. I found this huge dripstone cave like the biggest dripstone cave I've ever seen and it was just cool to see, you know, just seeing that stuff. I like the fact that you know, you have to go on your mining
different. Now, I think mining can be repetitive, it could get boring, but caving if it's there if the resources are there, I definitely rather You didn't do that here. And when I do my caving mining, most of the time, it's in water aquifers because a lot of things are exposed. You can get to the high ones. You can get to the low ones. You just swim around.
And most of the time there are what is it magma box where you can get your air and sometimes those pop in the bigger caves, when you get your resources, you get your oars a lot of times actually, but yeah, I've been, I've been enjoying that aspect. A lot more than before with the mining. You're perfectly setting up or what. I'm thinking. Okay. It's one Minecraft players are different. Right? We all have different likes, we all have different dislikes, but we also have different skill
levels. You have some newer players and some older players the new way of caving. Instead of you're talking about swimming around in aquifers. You still have to be prepared to travel in aquifers. You can't go. On there with no armor, no enchantments or anything. True. Yeah, you have magma blocks to get your your are sometimes but a new player won't understand. You get sucked down and you can die on them. Yeah, you have to crouch being
swim mode. Yep. To gather that are also you also have to run into drowned because pitch black. Hmm. God forbid. They got a Triton. Hmm. So there's that too. How come drown do more tried it than a player? Does never did figure. Get that out, don't know. Feel like it's like 3 hits of dead like what the world. Anyways, there's a lot of threat in mining and caving. That way. It's not something a newer player can under, you can figure out so quickly.
So the idea of the loop, the gameplay Loop now being more difficult is correct. I'm all right. Yeah, that's true. Because you can't just go down to y11 and get the same resources as, you know. Have to either know or generation and copy the mining aspect. But it different. Why levels? Or do what you're doing caving, which is more dangerous. And I think this is happening because Mojang understands their core Minecraft. Players are really core, are aging.
They're older. They're not young kids anymore, right? They're getting older. We're seeing this in the deep. Dark deep dark spooky. It's not the same little Minecraft game anymore. And I'm not saying there's no longer younger kids playing it. There's still plenty of younger kids, but the group of people who grew up with Minecraft have grown up and they still enjoy the game, but they want some added difficulty to the game. And I think that's what we're seeing.
Yeah, I don't think that's a good answer. I think that is the answer to why they've done this. I couldn't really put it in better words. Yeah. Yeah. As Grow the game grows. Exactly. They're going to up up the difficulty. 100%. Correct? You go into The Nether and you look at all the changes in the nether is way easier to navigate now because you have landmarks you have different biomes and stuff. Yeah, you have food, but now there's so much more stuff in another that can kill you.
Yes, still pretty balanced. Right? And like you said before, we play different, you know, everyone plays different. If you don't want to go into these dangerous situations, you don't have to You could mind the old way if you wanted. Yeah, like right now. I am low on Redstone. I think I'm under five stacks of redstone dust and I really don't like Mining and I really don't like caving. It's I'm to the point now where it's like, okay, how can I automate getting some Redstone
because that's what I enjoy. That's what I like doing. Right and the fact that I can still do that is good. But the core gameplay Lou is definitely more difficult than it was safe. Years ago. Mmm, I think every or that you mind and be automated besides diamonds, and I think lattice not mistaken, but can you trade for lapis? You can trade for lapis with clerics? Yeah, so just diamonds. Everything else could be automated. So yeah, you don't have to do that.
If you don't want to one. Technically, if you're only using diamonds for armor and tools, you can do that with villagers to. Right? Yeah, everything that you craft with diamonds, you. Can almost trade for that's another good point me. Chairman tables, one exception jukebox, but do you need that? Yeah, there are like at the beginning when I have my iron gear. First thing to do is go try to get my iron gear. I'm not going to go that far down into these huge caves with iron gear like hmm.
I love the cape. Like I said, even all water aquifers provide you a lot of nice ores but not if you have iron armor on odds are you're not going to make it. Out of there with iron armor on, you want to have your Champions. Like this is something you could do, mid-game level, this kind of caving, but at the beginning of the game, you kind of got to gear up to get in that mindset to go down and do the caping that deep at least. Yes. It is dangerous again. Go back for five years ago.
Day one. You were already down the very bottom of the world collecting tons of resources. Hmm. Yeah. You're almost day one, your You're there. Yeah, you're kitted out. You're ready to go. So, yeah, I agree as to why the only thing I can think of is Mojang kind of agrees with the core groups getting older. They would like more difficulty in the game which is which is true. Hmm, even me who doesn't like
caving, who doesn't like PVE. I'm okay with the game being more difficult, especially because there's ways around it for me. One thing that I was thinking about the other day. I want to bring up kind of goes with this topic. How the fact that they called the end Dimension, the end because if you want to get more difficult, how do you get more difficult than a dimension called the end, you know? And once you Pete the Dragon, which is the end boss, you get to see the credits which is
signifies the end of the game. So to up the difficulty, but still stay under the difficulty of the Dragon you almost have to keep the end the end. If not name the end something else because Because it signifies that that's the end of the game and how would you get more difficult than that? But we'll see. I'm sure they will but we have to end it here thing. That's going to do it for today's show. Before I have Jimbo Reedus out. I want to say a huge thank you to all of our patrons who are
