An Introduction

Hi, and welcome to web 101

My name is Mark Fischer. I'm a web developer and programmer, and have been working with web technologies since 1994.

I've always enjoyed teaching and mentoring. A couple of years ago I had the great privilege to teach a class in web programming for the Computer Science department at the University of Arizona. I had a lot of fun teaching those classes, and in the intervening years have wished I could refer back to pieces of that material to show co-workers and clients. So I thought I would dust off that course material, update it for 2020, and release it again as a podcast and video series.

There are innumerable ways to learn about web technologies these days, but who knows. Maybe my way of explaining the web resonates with you more than one of those others. Either way, this is a thing I wish existed, so I'm going to make it.

I don't know what sort of schedule I'll be able to keep to, but I want to keep episodes relatively short and focused, no more than 30 minutes. I'm going to try for something every week.
