In doing this, we appeal to Almighty God, just as our forefathers did. George Washington, the founder of the War Department, appealed to God's providence during every step of our improbable revolution, on prayer, on bended knee, on the battlefield. Ron Reagan did the same, appealing to Heaven is the world hung in the balance? We do the same today, with Jesus Christ as our God. May He grant us the wisdom to see what is right and the courage to do it.
May God bless our warriors, and may God bless our great Republic.
Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hagsath appeared at the Reagan Library, and while there he talked about the reason why one million Americans gave what Abraham Lincoln called the last full measure of devotion to the Republic. Here's the question. Did those men die like Pete Hagsath said, for Jesus Christ, they did not. It is Tuesday, December the ninth. This is the morning the Secretary of War Crimes is profoundly
unfit to lead America's military. And though he stood up at the Reagan Library and tried to claim the mantle of a Republican president, that believed in peace through strength. He failed. There's a simple reason for that. Ronald Reagan knew a drunk when he saw one. His father would be passed out on the steps when Ronald Reagan and Dixon Illinois would step over him and root into the inside of his boyhood home. Ronald Reagan didn't like degenerates, and never ever would he have put one in command
of the US military. Never ever would he have put a man like Pete Hegsath in the chain of command for the release of nuclear weapons. No serious person who was born in nineteen eleven, who witnessed World War Two like Ronald Reagan did, would have ever entrusted Pete Hegseath with any responsibility. He is an untreated psychiatric patient, married three times, accused of abuse by his former wives. He's a man who jumped up on a table and yelled in front of his colleagues at a nonprofit Kill all
the Muslims. Pete Hegsath couldn't run a five million dollar charity. He is a literal version, real life of the Humphrey Bogard character Captain Quig on a search for who stole the strawberries. Pete Hegseth is paranoid. Pete hegsath is giving members of his team polygraphs searching for the hidden traders around him, like Hitler might have done, or Stalin insecure, paranoid, somebody whose ethos is don't blame me, It's not my fault. It must be the private. Ronald Reagan would have despised
Pete Hegxa. The man who said this, would not have supported the carving up of a democratic nation between corrupt administration officials and their Russian counterparts.
Yes, let us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in that totalitarian darkness. Pray they will discover the joy of knowing God. But until they do, let us be aware that while they preach the supremacy of the state, declare its omnipotence over individual man, and predict its eventual domination of all peoples on the earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world. It was C. S. Lewis who, in his Unforgettable screw Tape Letters wrote, the greatest evil is not done now
in those sordid dens of crime love to paint. It is not even done in concentration camps and labor camps. In those we see its final result. But it is conceived and ordered, moved, seconded, carried, and minuted in clear, carpeted, warmed, and well lighted offices by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth shaven cheeks, who do not
need to raise their voice. But because these quiet men do not raise their voices, because they sometimes speak in soothing tones of brotherhood in peace, Because like other dictators before them, they're always making their final territorial demand, some would have us accept them at their word and accommodate ourselves to their aggressive impulses.
The man who said this about the honor of the US military would not approve of murder on the high seats.
Two hundred and twenty five came here after two days of fighting, only ninety could still bear arms. Behind me is a memorial that symbolizes the ranger daggers that were thrust into the top of these cliffs. And before me are the men who put them there. These are the boys of Puentejoe. These are the men who took the cliffs. These are the champions who helped free a continent. These are the heroes who helped end a war. Gentlemen, I look at you, and I think of the words of
Stephen Spender's poem. You were men who, in your quote lives, fought for life and lift left the vivid air signed with your honor. I think I know what you may be thinking right now, thinking we were just part of a bigger effort. Everyone was brave that day, well, everyone was.
The man who said this about immigration would not approve of the overt racism and the cruelty inherent in so many of Pete Hagsas's public pronouncements.
You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany, or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk or Japanese. But anyone from any corner of of the earth can come to live in America and become an American. Yes, the torch of Lady Liberty symbolizes our freedom and represents our heritage, the compact with our parents, our grandparents, and our ancestors. It is that lady who gives us our great and special place in the world.
For it's the great life force of each generation of new Americans that guarantees that America's triumph shall continue unsurpassed into the next century and beyond. Other countries may seek to compete with us, but in one vital area, as a beacon of freedom and opportunity that draws the people of the world, no country on Earth comes close. This, I believe is one of the most important sources of
America's greatness. We lead the world because, unique among nations, we draw our people, our strength from every country and every corner of the world, and by doing so, we continuously renew and enrich our nation. While other countries cling to the stale past. Here in America we breathe life into dreams, We create the future, and the world follows
us into tomorrow. Thanks to each wave of new arrivals to this land of opportunity, we're a nation forever young, forever bursting with energy and new ideas, and always on the cutting edge, all leading the world to the next frontier. This quality is vital to our future as a nation. If we ever closed the door to new Americans, our leadership in the world would soon be lost.
Ronald Wragan revered the American military, and he entrusted to its stewardship for eight years as commander in chief, did not abuse it, did not politicize it, and never did the things that Trump is doing. Ronald Reagan was a man of strong convictions and opinions, who respected his political opponents. When he was shot and lay near death, his friend, his opponent, the great Democratic Speaker of the House, Tip O'Neil, broke into tears and got on his knees and prayed
for him. America is a country born from revolution. One million Americans have given what Lincoln called the last full measure of devotion. And no, they didn't do it for Jesus. They did it for the constitution of the United States of America. They did it for the Union. They did it for their descendants so they could live in liberty and freedom. What Pete Hagseth said is sick, and that he said it at Ronald Reagan's library in front of the people who tend to its memory is also sick.
In the end, if Ronald Reagan was here, he'd be the first guy out there in the Republican Party calling all of this out. And not in a million years would he have ever been afraid of Trump, nor would he have ever gotten on his knees. This is the warning. I'm Steve Schmidt. This is the warning.
