This is the morning happy Saint Patrick's day, as the legend holds Saint Patrick cast the snakes out of Ireland and into the sea. Whether true or not, there are no snakes in Ireland today, but many slither about in
these United States. And if you were to turn on the television this morning on NBC News or to look at the Drudge Report, then you would have had a chill run down your spine when you heard the news today that Donald Trump is more popular than he has ever been, maintaining his apigy of forty seven percent approval as he degrades America's alliances, insults our allies, wages economic war on Canada, sells out Ukraine, assaults the government, treats
government employees like insects, and rambles nonsensical idiocies from morning till night. But these numbers that celebrate Trump's strength should not make you look away. They should make you look more closely. So we're gonna do something this morning. I'm going to take you through the poll as if you were my client sitting across the table and we had to talk this morning at the meeting about the NBC poll. Now let's get into it. The number that's being sold
to the American people as the news. In the poll is this one that shows Trump's approval strength, this number forty seven, and in fact, that is a high number for Trump. Now here's the way you have to read these. You have to connect two numbers in the poll. You have to connect on the negative side, those that feel very negative I would be one of those people about Trump,
and those that feel somewhat negative about him. And then on the other side of that, there are people who are okay with Trump, kind of like them, and there are people that are really into them. When you add those numbers up, and you can do the same for Elon Musk and for JD. Vance for the Republican Party, you see what they are. You see what those negative numbers are added up, and you see what those positive
numbers are added up. Now, the truth of the matter is that most of America's political media has no idea how to read a poll, has never read a poll, doesn't understand the statistical science behind public opinion research is easily manipulated by people who do. And those people who cannot read a poll do not comprehend what a poll is. Are also very very very limited in their travel around the country and exposure to the American people as a
general proposition. Now, let's look at the Democratic Party's numbers in this Let's add up everybody that has a highly negative feeling and a negative feeling. Look at how big that number is, and look at the number of people that have a very positive feeling. And now compare that number to Trump, who people don't like, to Musk who people don't like, to the Republicans who people don't like. But it's the Democrats as an institution that are wrecked
upon the rock. They are despised as an institution. And this does not mean, by the way, the millions of Democratic voters. It means the hundreds that run the institution from Washington, DC, And it means an awful lot of the Democratic governors who are in whisper mode lately, except for Gavin Newsom, who you can find on his new podcast with every right wing whack job, it seems on a new weekly basis. Congratulations, Governor Gav, You're doing terrific
for me. It wouldn't be the path I would suggest if I was getting ready for a presidential campaign, But who am I to know? At any level? The Democratic Party is simply not in a position to criticize anything that Trump does effectively, because the only people that are
more popular than are putin in Russia. The news this weekend was that Democrats all over the country understood very simply, it did not need it explained to them that Chuck Schumer had given away all leverage against Donald Trump in an act of surrender and appeasement. And this was the reaction.
These numbers, the lowest in the history of the Democratic Party, are before Chuck Schumer's Friday appeasement that will live in infamy as the weakest day on bended knee in the entire history of the United States Senate that an opposition minority leader has ever spent abandoning all principle, all leverage for the proposition I did it for you to save you from Trump later. What Schumer is is a philosopher that holds, let me feed the crocodile first, so that
I may be eaten last. Over to the Democratic House members. Now, what this poll really shows is the urgent and absolute necessity we're there to be an opposition that strikes back, that fights back, and it's simply cannot and will not form from Washington, d C. From the geriatric Democrats, from their failed leaders, from the corruptocracy that produced in a choice a result that elevated Donald Trump. The question is is did Donald Trump off the Democratic Party? Can it
come back? Good news is, since it survives segregation and slavery, it probably will, and hopefully that will be soon. But until then, it's these numbers that point to the opportunity that Democrats have governors and a nascent forming grassroots opposition movement. The American people are experiencing Trump's tariffs, They're experiencing his economy. Look at these numbers. The American people don't like Trump's treatment of Ukraine. They don't like his treatment of Zelensky.
Look at Zelenski's numbers. The American people understand that this man is a hero. They understand that Trump is a scumbag. So three things can be true at once. Zolensky's a hero, Trump's a scumbag, and the Democratic Party is completely ineffectual, which means the scumbag can attack the hero. But in America, the ineffectual party can't hit the scumbag. That's politics, and when a scumbag like Trump and all of his minions are given free reign and they face appeasement as opposed
to iron opposition. The situation deteriorates. The good news for the Democrats is as that Trump number drops, they become the latent beneficiary of it, but not in the way necessarily that they think. What these numbers show everybody is that this is the year to run for office is that this Trump era is just beginning, and the issues that elected him, with the exception of immigration, where his
numbers are strong, are in a state of collapse. Donald Trump ran saying he would end the Ukraine War on day one. Well that didn't happen. What he did was this in the oval, officeless, you don't know, God, bless You're not blessed, you don't know. Don't tell us what we're gonna feel. And now the American people evaluate the
situation like this unhappily. So what this poll really shows, through all the bluster, through all the bs, through all the smoking mirrors of the coverage, is that Donald Trump is failing and the American people are anxious, and he is poised to be attacked, to be hit, to be struck politically, his head can very easily be driven underwater. But it requires a Democratic leadership to be completely changed out. It means that Chuck Schumer has to loosen his iron
grip on power. But Chuck Schumer's part of the me Me, Me, Me, Me, Me Me caucus that will hold on for as long as they can, like Diane Feinstein and like Kay Granger of Texas who just went missing until she was found in the Alzheimer's clinic. Honest to God, true story. Here's
the headline in this moment. When Donald Trump is meandering about the globe looking for trouble where none existed, trying his hand at international statesmanship and peacemaking, sending his real estate developer buddy all around the world to negotiate with Vladimir Putin on Ukraine. This will all end badly. The numbers show the American people into it the direction everything is going. The only thing missing is somebody to stand up and fight back and to say follow me inside
the Democratic Party. Who will that person be? This poll says Trump is strong. It's not how I read it. The pole says Trump is vulnerable. He's leading with his chin, He's failing on the issues that elected him. People are patient, don't give him a chance. But What keeps him up isn't anything that Trump's doing. That's what's pulling him down.
What keeps him up is how pathetic the Democratic Party is in Washington, d C. And because they're so bad, so smug, so ineffectual, they can't hit Trump even though he is a soft, giant target and people know he's failing. The loss to Trump remains mind blowing. And don't let
anybody ever tell you that Trump was unbeatable. He was made unbeatable by Joe Biden's lying, by the gas lighting, but he was not unbeatable, and right now he's not on ole problem is not the American people who see what's going on is the impotence of the minority party in Washington, the laydown party, the we're winning party, the I'll bring my small paddle to a proverbial gunfight party. America has a fascist party, it seems, and a pathetic party,
and it's not working out great for the country. But at any rate, that's what the poll says. This is the warning. I'm Steve Schmidt. This is the warning.
