Seventy seven days until the day of decision, when the American people decide whether this man who descended an escalator in his gaudy building a decade ago will become the commander in chief again.
This is the warning.
This weekend, Donald Trump continued his spiral.
Let's watch. It has to be seen to be believed.
I'm a better looking person than Kamala.
They used to call a TiVo dow.
They have TiVo all the I think it's the single greatest invention.
I think they should reimburse me for one hundred million. I don't ramble. A really smart guy, you know, really smart.
I don't ramble. It isn't just a Donald who's melting down. It's his fan base, his supporters. At the Republican National Convention, we saw some MAGA delegates, really cult members, tape bandages to their uninjured ears in solidarity with Donald Trump. It's strange, it's not normal behavior at a political convention, and it's important to talk about it. This guy, let's look at him. I don't know anything about him, but this is a
weird guy. And I can tell he's a weird guy from the key shirt and from the cuppies holding look at it. This movement has gone off the rails. At some level. There's weirdos like this guy, this strange couple, that are probably harmless. But then there are people like Stephen Miller and Stephen Chung who are certified grade A
little likemans Howard in their hands becomes very dangerous. Stephen Miller was in the Oval Office and he was rebuked by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff when he asked if the military could open fire on migrant boats filled with defenseless women and children off the coast of San Diego. Again, power in the hands of a great many of the people around Donald Trump is existentially dangerous for me, for you, for everyone you love and
care about, for your children. Donald Trump is running for the most powerful and important office in the world, and he's incoherent. He is delusional, and he is spiraling live on the stage in front of three hundred and fifty million people. He has dominated America's culture for ten years, and now this gathering in Chicago should be the beginning of his end. Because what ends Trump and trump Ism is better, and the Democrats this week must offer a vision of the future that is better, that breaks.
Out of the Donald Trump era.
That doesn't just signal a plan to defeat it in the election, but to end it for all time, to move on from this. There was a great consensus in America about how we share power. It's why there was a peaceful transition of power for over two hundred years. But that's all done now because of Donald Trump. And so we live in this fraud space wondering if our democracy will survive, Can it survive, can it overcome the cancer that has attacked it?
And this is the cancer. The cancer is Trump.
And so now at this Democratic Convention, we will see figures of the past. We will see President Clinton and Secretary Clinton, and Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. But this election is not about the first decade of this century. It's not about the second. It must be about the third, fourth, fifth, at sixth. It must be about the creation and sustainment
of peace in the world of another American century. We are a nation that has gone through a long season of political crisis, and it must end for the sake of our children. The consequences of a complete collapse of trust in every institution that I can think to name in the country is the election of someone like Trump. When a people believe in nothing, when they think everything
is rotten, this guy becomes possible. And there is something that must be said on this the first day of the Democratic now National Convention, when President Biden speaks and delivers a valedictory. Had he remained in the race, defeat would have been certain, and the defeat would have been for American democracy caused by Joe Biden at the hands
of Donald Trump. Democrats came very close. They have evaded an avoided disaster through an act of surrender and submission by pretending that a candidate who is failing and could not win was winning.
Thankfully, that's all over.
Now. The Vice President has performed lawlessly, in fact, more flawlessly than any presidential candidate ever for a sustained period of time while introducing herself. It has been an extraordinary season leading into this Democratic Convention.
But now the tough part begins.
Kamala Harris will leave the convention with momentum, She will leave the convention with energy, and she will lead the convention ahead. But those poll numbers in the week ahead will stop stretching out and after Labor Day they'll start to fall back. Gravity will adjust the race, it will tighten it, and when it does, there will be a lot of panic in a time where steadiness is called for.
Don't get too up, don't get too down. Maintain and even keel is the best advice I can give to everybody who feels passionately about this race and is rooting hard for Kamala Harris to be the president, though she has not had her first one yet. There will be tough days. There will be days where it seems that Donald Trump has gotten his magic and his luck back, But those days are not going to determine the outcome.
The American people are, and the American people have a serious, monumentally important choice, this qualified woman versus this adjudicated rapist, this abuser of women, this convicted felon, this insider of insurrection, this demagogic loser.
We should not have.
Malice in our heart for any weirdo, even the ones carrying JD Vance's sperm cups. We just don't want them to have any control over any of our lives. I don't want my daughters to have to sit in the ob GYN office with these people, with Lindsey Graham looking over their shoulder. What does election is about is the American people. What the cause the election is about is American freedom. We saw a lot of weirdness at the
Republican Convention. We're going to get to see a lot of America at the Democratic Convention, the full beautiful mosaic of the country, our extraordinary nation. It will look different at the Democratic Convention and than it did at the Republican Convention. Because the Democratic Party is America's party. It is a party that reflects what the country looks like. And our country is made up of all the world's people. They've come from every corner of the earth. In our nation,
every language is spoken commonly every day. Every religion known to mankind is practiced somewhere every day. Our country, made up of all the people from the world, has fed more people, liberated more people, clothed more people, and cured more people that all of the other nations put together since the beginning of time. And we are a young country, not yet two hundred and fifty years old, just getting started.
What are these days about? When the American Revolution was won, in the moment of victory, the Marquis de Lafayette, Gilbert du Montier a young Frenchman who had come to America to help fight for freedom, said, humanity has its victory, liberty has its country. And he went on to predict this country of freedom and liberty would abolish slavery and would save the world. The Marquis de Lafayette was right.
America is not a perfect nation. But this week in Chicago, a perfect idea and ideal will be celebrated, and an American woman will be tapped on the shoulder by destiny and become the nominee, the standard bearer of the oldest organized political party in the world, the Great Democratic Party of the United States of America, the Party of John Kennedy, the Party of Franklin Roosevelt, the Party of Harry Truman.
This party, Democratic Party, has been called forward by destiny many many times at hours of grave crisis for the United States, and it has put forward the leaders that have saved freedom time and time and time again. And now the party has chosen another. Kamala Harris and Tim Walls are the candidates who will stop these two this rotten, rancid, maliced maga. Cause the Democratic National Convention is open. Democracy is being practiced. This is the warning seventy seven days
to go. Get involved. You're an American.
