This is the morning. Good morning from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I've spent the last few days driving across the country. I've driven from Toronto, Canada, crossing the border down through the path of old Route sixty six from Chicago to the gateway to the West coast, Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Santa Fe Trail one of the routes that carried Americans west. It's quite an astonishing thing to be able to cross a peaceful international boundary and then drive for
thousands of miles. There are no checkpoints, there were no military vehicles on the roads. There was no evidence of a mass deportation, no roundup, just freedom to drive to go wherever it is that I pleased as an American citizen heading west into California. Later today thought about that, I thought about the country, and I thought about what's coming thirty nine days from now. The country will be transformed radically and profoundly if Donald Trump does the things
that he says he is going to do. During the election, people myself included of valuated Donald Trump's words, his conduct and concluded that this wasn't conservatism, it was fascism. In the aftermath of his victory, which was not a majority but rather a plurality. Donald Trump has declared a mandate. The fact is he has one of the smallest mandates that any president has received over the last hundred years. When all the votes are counted, he'll fall in somewhere
between sixteenth and eighteenth place. But what is Donald Trump? Is he the danger that his words suggest, or simply a P. T. Barnum a show an incompetent leader, a blustering politician, and there's not much to worry about. This is the fundamental and most important question, isn't it? What is and who is Donald Trump? And why can it not be revealed by an American media that focuses on the connection between the things he says, the lies he tells,
and the actions he undertakes. What's coming in America is an age unlike anything that anyone alive has ever experienced. The corruption to come will be beyond imagination. For example, Elon Musk, in just the period since Donald Trump has been elected, has expanded his net worth from two hundred
billion dollars to four hundred billion dollars. Forty percent of America does not have four hundred dollars of cash available for an emergency, and Elon Musk is functioning as much as anyone ever has, with no nomination, no confirmation, no appointment, no election. Has a type of deputy president with a license to do what he wants while reaping in untold and unprecedented billions in government contracts, and none of it will be scrutinized or opposed by a client and compitulant
United States Congress. Let me introduce you to Jony Ernst. She's the United States Senator from the state of Iowa. She is a combat veteran, a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, and a sexual assault survivor. When Joony Ernst was a candidate, she ran an ad that helped elect her, who was made by a consultant named Todd Harris, and it's one of the best ads of the last twenty five years. Let me show it to you. I'm Joni Ernst.
I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm, so when I get to Washington, I'll know how to cut port. This is why Jony Ernst was elected. And now many years later, she sits in Washington and she's about to make a vote to confirm somebody who, it has been reported, is often drunk, frequently unable to control himself, an alleged rapists, and the most manifestly unfit person ever put forward by any president over eighty years to lead the United States
Armed forces. He's as unfit as the FBI director Cash Ptel. These people will provide a marker, a waypoint in a dissent into the ABYSS. If there are not four Republican Senators who just simply say no on the merits of who these people are, the promises, for example, by cash Ptel to lock up his political opponents, then in many ways, the Republic is wobbling because there is no check and
there is no balance. One branch has subordinated itself to another coequal branch, not on the basis of any type of law, but simply the dominance of one man's personality in the reach of his propaganda machine. It is remarkable and appalling to watch, and of course none of this could possibly be happening absent the moral and political capitulations playing out behind the newsdesks in the American media power establishment.
Let's talk about this tirade from Joe Scarborough and why it's so important now I'm going to show it to you, and I'm going to point out a couple of things in advance. Joe Scarborough is very angrily going to justify the meeting, and he's going to say a couple of things, the first of which is I had to go there to cake Trump's measure, but didn't he take Trump's measure already when he said this.
This is not a reach. I could go back and talk about Nazi Germany and I do it. I do it without any concerns whatsoever. And if people can't start drawing the parallels, well you're just stupid or you have your head in the sand. Are you're one of them?
And this You can do two things at the same time. You can say he had fascist rhetoric and still go in and talk to him. Yeah, you know why I do that to get the read of the man. And this you know why I went in and talked to mcclan to get the read of the man at a crucial time in the EU funding and NATO funding.
Joe Scarborough, I think he misunderstands what the job is. Nobody relies on Joe Scarborough to take anybody's measure and report back to us with actions. What the job of a journalist is is to reveal the subject at hand, to ask the questions that let that person tell who they are to the public. That's an action that's in
the public interest. Now, when you think about the question of taking someone's measure, Joe Scarborough's aptitude has to be weighed against his taking measure of Joe Biden and stifling the debate that should have been had but was not because he created, as the host of the most important morning show, let's call it, an impermissive environment. He may be great at asking questions about people that helped them
revealed to the public what it is there about. He did some of that in twenty sixteen with Trump, but he doesn't seem to be good when it comes to understanding who these people are. So here's the problem with the mar A Lago visit. The purpose of it is shifting opening lines of communication. Is different than well, I needed to take his measure, but again, the measurement had been drawn, had it not, And it all I added up to Trump is America's hitler. So here's the question.
Did Joe Scarborough discover Trump is not hitler? Because he should tell the country or did he make a deal with Hitler now deals with Hitler. The real one never held up because every deal was built on a foundation of appeasement. It's a big word. What does it mean. Well, if it was a philosophy and it was applied to feeding crocodiles, it's the philosophy of I'll be the first to feed the crocodile, so that I may be the last person that the crocodile eats. It's not an enduring
strategy as an entire generation of humanity discovered. With thirty nine days to go, there is a lot happening in America, a lot to think about. Bill Clinton is thinking about some things. He's thinking about the targeting of the former first Lady of the United States, a Secretary of State, a United States Senator, and the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. And he said he's open to hearing from Joe Biden about a preempt of pardon. Again, no,
Secretary Clinton did nothing wrong. She must not accept a pardon. The remedy to the abuse will be general strikes by the American people over the next two years. Who will be the that polices and puts a check in balance on Donald Trump's coming exceptional constitutional abuses. We will know if through the votes to confirm, if Pete Hagseeth makes it, and Tulca Gabbert makes it, and Cash Ptel make it one or all. What it means is that for two years until a tragedy happens, there is no check in
the United States Senate. The damage that will be done, The orders that will be given will not come in an email from Trump. They will all be implied, and there will be a competition to please Donald Trump to see him. Nobody has to tell the runner at the start of the race that the goal is to get to the finish line first. In the same way, all of Trump's power appointments will understand what it is they
are to do. If it's Pete Hegseath, it's to decapitate the command structure of the US military, to fire generals, to purge them through a guilt by association campaign that justifies the destruction of careers service to the country that's lasted thirty thirty five forty years. Cash Battel will gut the FBI. He will strip it of standards, he will give it teeth, he will sharpen them and then turn
the FBI loose on domestic descent. The worst abuses by the FBI in American history took place during the Civil Rights movement. If he becomes the director of the worst is yet to come. And there is no person more dangerous than Tulsi Gabbard, more unfit for the nation's secrets, less responsible for the men and women out there on the knife's edge, gathering them at great risk. Lives will be lost with these people nominated and confirmed into positions
of responsibility. And there is no argument, logical, one, substantive one that justifies their confirmation into these positions. The question that Trump has put on the table, and he is always when it comes to dealing with anybody in Washington, the superior negotiator. What he has done is make the excess the issue. What he's saying is I dare you to stop me? And when he knows that, there is no red light and there will be no speed limits
regarding the abuses. And that's why this moment matters so very much. We are in the calm before the storm, and we are already seeing all of the behaviors, the appeasements, the capitulations, the panicking that undermines the ability to form a coherent, tough, focused, honest, decent opposition. Soon, the American people will rebel against the abuses of authority and the vast taking by a few from a great many of
things to which they have no right to take. During the months ahead, and opposition we'll find its footing in the midst of a sea of abuse and a sea of idiocy and corruption. Arrogance is what will undo MAGA, and it hopefully will stiffen the spine of a great many people who said a great many things that they have no basis in reality for changing unless they know something the rest of us don't know. And if they do, by all means, Joe Scarborough and Mika, please tell us
we deserve to know, don't we. The coming months will test the American system and the resolve of the seventy five million people who said no, No, go to Donald Trump. We lost an election, but we're not wrong about anything. Not when it comes to him. There is nothing new to learn, no new measurement to be taken. He is what he is, and for that we can be grateful for.
There is no mystery about Donald Trump, nor is there any about what he has promised to do because he has told us, and it looks like he means to do it, which means when the first abuses come, they must be opposed with the end in mind of stopping them. No American should ever be afraid to speak out about what they believe is right. This American will not be
intimidated ever. Join the Warning community. Here you will learn the truth about what is happening, why it is happening, and be able to orient to it to figure out. You don't need somebody to take the measurements of what is plainly in front of you, and you definitely don't need somebody who when they did it looked at Joe Biden. It came to the conclusion he came to. And then at the first opportunity he got after calling Donald Trump hitler,
he went to the Burgoff hat in hand. During the weeks and months ahead, a toughness that has not yet been evident will need to form. When it does, Trump's progress and abusing the country, the constitution and the American people will slow until then. This is the warning. I'm Steve Schmidt.
