Welcome to the intersection of faith and culture. It's WallBuilders. Thanks for joining us today, always a pleasure to have you with us as we rebuild the walls, you know, just like it says in Nehemiah arise and rebuild the walls that we may no longer be a
reproach. Wow, that... if that doesn't feel real to you today, folks, if you don't look at America and the things that are happening, the types of things we're exporting to the world, the types of things that our own government are championing, when the President of the United States is requiring local schools to let boys in the girls bathrooms, those kinds of things. If that doesn't tell you we've become a reproach folks,
come on, we got to wake up. I mean, there's no doubt that America is not the same America that our founding fathers founded and that we became, that, you know, the greatest, most powerful, most free, most benevolent nation in the history of the world, the wealthiest
nation in history. Those things didn't happen, because of the values that are now being, I would say, forced upon places across his country by a political elite, that has completely become unmoored from the foundations, the values, the principles that the nation was built upon. So yes, we'd become a reproach. So what do we do we rebuild the walls. That that's exactly what WallBuilders is all about. I hope that you've been to our website today.
WallBuilders.com , you're on our email list, that you're staying plugged in to the things that we're doing. My name is Rick Green, I'm a former Texas legislator and America's constitution coach, here with David and Tim Barton. David, of course, America's premier historian, and our founder at WallBuilders. Tim, a national speaker and pastor and president
of WallBuilders. And we're all three here to help rebuild those walls, to equip and inspire and educate, to give you the tools you need to be the catalyst in your community for restoring biblical values and constitutional principles. Alright guys, we got Floyd Brown with us later today from the Western journal also was the Young America's Foundation for years, actually was running it
when I went at 19 years old. So that must mean he's a little older than me, but anyway, has been in the movement for a long time, very involved in helping to have a countercultural response to these Marxist out there that have been trying to take over the nation. He's got a new book out, called Counterpunch, an Unlikely Alliance of Americans Fighting
Back for Faith and Freedom. Of course, this fits right in with our, you know, message and tone about the fact that we can't sit on the sidelines, we have a duty and responsibility. We've been given the talents. And now the question is, are we the wicked and slothful servant that buried it? Or are we actually the good and faithful servants? Are we engaging in the freedom that God has gifted us here in America, and Floyd is going to be talking about a peaceful way to do that
within the system. And to use the freedom we've got to save it for the next generation. So looking forward to have Floyd on and fit right perfectly with the things we've been talking about.
And you know, Rick, where we are at this point in the country, too, there's a lot of Bible lessons that are really pretty consistent. And one of those lessons is you can't be neutral, when bad stuff is going on. You have to take an offensive position, you have to get involved. The scripture says to those who know what's right to do and don't do it, to them, it's sin. Well, wait a minute, I didn't sin. Yeah, you sinned by not jumping in and doing what was right when you knew it was
right to do. And so the thing of being an outside observer, and I don't want to get into conflict, I'm going to watch. You can't do that. You have to get involved. And we're going to be judged on whether we do get involved because we have opportunities, every one of us has opportunities. We can even make opportunities to get involved. You just can't be neutral in this. And we're at a point now, where that we're watching the culture head and a really rough direction. And we're shaking our
head. And we're saying that tisk tisk tisk that's really bad. And we're finding in polling that the majority of the nation is not agreeing with where the nation is going. But they're keeping silent about it. They don't want to get engaged in a fight. We've seen polling says 77% of Americans self censor for fear of being attacked, if they jump into the woke debate. And you can't do that. And cowardice is one of the things that God
does not respond to well. That is one of the things that will get you thrown into the lake of fire and Revelation 21:8. And so we have to get some backbone and courage and start standing up to this and, you know, Floyd's got this book Counterpunch, which is we got to start punching back. You can't just stand there and be a punching bag. Because then you lose your country, you lose the 330 million people that are
with it. And if we could have done anything to save and help the country, and the people will be held accountable if we did nothing. So there's a lot of Bible instances where you cannot be neutral on this. And it's time for us to decide to get in this fight.
Well and Dad, to your point, I think the challenge is that we have to get involved. And also, I'm going to give kudos to some people out there because there are people over the last couple of years that have begun waking up. They are getting involved that there are more people now showing up to school board meetings than
ever before. That there's now more people paying attention to their local races or local elections to what Mayor, what city council is doing, there are more people paying attention and waking up now than we've seen in decades, if not maybe for our entire lifetimes. And yet, even though there are people waking up, there are still probably people listening to us right now who are sitting on the sidelines. And then there could be a variety of reasons, right?
There might be people saying, well, I'm willing to do something, I don't know what to do. And of course, this is maybe a great plug for taking a Biblical Citizenship course. Because there are things that can be outlined here are great ways to get involved. Here's a foundation of truth you can stand on. Here's things to do with that truth. And this is really, I think what Floyd's book is about as well is giving perspective of how do we engage
culture? How do we fight back in a truthful, loving and just way? How do we uphold the standard of justice and righteousness? How do we push back against some of these lies and some of these false attacks that are going on? And so if you're listening, and maybe you're just going, man, I'm not sure what to do, there's a lot of great resources out there. And certainly, we could tell you [to] plug in and WallBuilders.com, you can go to PatrioAcademy.com , there's a lot of places you can go and
find information. And even if it's something as simple as maybe getting more involved at your local church, maybe going to a local political meeting. There's so many simple steps. But it may be for some people, there is a paralysis by analysis, because I'm trying to figure it out. And maybe I'm overwhelmed by all the options. And it's just more simple. At some point, we have to recognize that the journey begins with the
first step. And at some point, we have to get up and get off the couch, we have to get more engaged. And some people will probably say, man, I'm so busy. I don't know if I have time to
do stuff right now. And Dad I think often about the example that I've heard you use many times with Benjamin Rush where Benjamin Rush said that for him who Benjamin Rush Founding Father, signs of declaration, helps ratify the Constitution, serves on three different presidents administrations, he's a founder of a Bible Society, he's the founder of the Sunday school movement in America, is the founder of an abolition society. I mean, the guy's
resume is amazing. But as much of a leader, the strong Christian, outspoken Christian that he was, as much of a family man as he was. He said that first, obviously, God has to come first. He said, but then you got to focus on your country, and then you have family. And we might look at that and go, Okay, bro, you're totally wrong, right? It's God, and then family, and then country or whatever else. And even though we could have a legitimate debate, he made a point, that it's really kind of
interesting. Why would you put your country maybe before your family? And what the Founding Fathers recognized, even under the tyranny of the king, is if you don't fight for your country, your family will never be able to enjoy the freedom that God had ordained for people to be able to enjoy, those inalienable rights, that we know we have God given rights. But if they're not politically protected, you can't enjoy those
in the same level. And so at some point, even if we have a family, and we're like, man, I'm so busy with my family. At some point, if you don't get involved in the process, then there will be no freedom left, and the family that you love will now be living in a communist Marxist nation, because you didn't take time to get involved to defend and save freedom in your country. And again, for those going, man, how do we do this?
This is why we said let's talk to Floyd, let's get Floyd on, so that he can lay out some of the thoughts, some of the strategies from his book, how can we get engaged? What can we do? So that we can't just sit on the side saying, Well, I didn't know what to do. At this point, Dad you mentioned a verse, to those that know the good they ought to do and do it not, to them it is sin. At this point, we want to help people know, what's the good we ought to be doing?
Because if you know the good you ought to do, then the only option is, am I going to do it or not going to do it. And that's why we're going to talk to Floyd so he can lay out some of the thoughts that he has and certainly written in this book. What should we as Christians be doing to engage in culture?
Floyd Brown, our special guest. Stay with us, we'll be right back on WallBuilders.
This is David Barton with another moment from America’s history. Today, numerous court decisions demonstrate that there’s often a conflict between the courts, the law, and religion. Has this conflict always existed? Not according to James Wilson. James Wilson was a signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. He was a law professor as well as an original justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. James Wilson saw no conflict between religion and the law. In fact, just the
contrary. He declared, “Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is divine. Far from being rivals or enemies religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistance. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other.” In the views of Founding Father James Wilson religion and good civil law were inseparable.

Welcome back to WallBuilders Thanks for staying with us. Great to have my good friend Floyd Brown with us. New book out Counterpunch. Yeah, I have a bad habit of wanting to counterpunch. But he's going to give us a way to peacefully, yes, peacefully, save our country Floyd, great to have you on, brother.
It's good to be with you. You know, it's been just an amazing, really disheartening and almost depressing week we've been through. And, you know, in my new book, actually, I go through a lot of false narratives. And the reason I do that is because all of these false narratives that have been pushed on us are intended to make us feel powerless.
Yeah.
But in Jesus, we have amazing power. And my book is all about helping people reclaim the power that they have, through Jesus Christ, and the power that they have, personally through the US Constitution, and the rights that came to us from God, as opposed to from government. And we can save this country. I know we can. But we just have to get up off the couches and start fighting for it again.
Well, and one of the things, Floyd, that I think gives people the most hope is knowing that there is a way to do this, as you say, it's a practical, biblically based plan. And when they realize that, when they start seeing, wow, there are solutions, then that gets rid of the despair. Because you go okay, here's a step I can take in my community, here's the thing I can do. That's just so important to empower people with, yes there's a plan, yes, there's a secret sauce. It's not complicated.
Good stuff in, good stuff out, bad stuff in, bad stuff out, you know, and we're just changing the inputs. That's really what you're talking about doing.
Right. And I know, you know, both you and I have been fighting this battle for a long time. It's not a new battle, it actually goes back all the way to the Garden of Eden.
Yeah.
So, you know, Christians, in particular, have been called to this battle for a long, long time. But one of the things I do is, you know, I run the Western Journal, where we write the day's news every day. But what I wanted to do in this book was step back from that process of writing the news every day, and give some context, from my 40 years in politics about why we've been successful sometimes, why we're not successful sometimes, and what we can do to become more
successful. The left looks at politics completely differently than we do. We look at politics as something we want to get away from. So it's like, hey, let's get this over with so I can turn around and get back to my business, my family, my church, my life, because we're not obsessed with politics. For the left. They literally worship government. And so as part of their worship, they're always engaged in government. And they are often engaged right at the
grassroots level. And it's that kind of involvement, where we're missing an action. We sit back and say, hey, can't Donald Trump come in and save America? Can't Ronald Reagan come in and save America? Can't Newt Gingrich come and save America, and all three of those people, you know, lead us in Wave elections where we captured more political power each time than we ever expected.
But the truth is, is that the left at the same time, you know, they were running for school board, they were running for town council, they were running for sheriff, they were running for county auditor. And a lot of times these lower level positions, which often have elections different than the national elections, have
tremendous power. And, you know, if we really want to change our country, we've got to do it from the local level up, as opposed to always waiting for somebody to ride in on their white horse to Washington, DC and fix this.
Yep. Oh, man. So many things you just said that I want to get into. I mean, just the idea of not just showing up in November and hoping whoever you voted for is going to save the day, but instead making this... this is a way of life. This is part of, well Charles Finney said it 200 years ago that politics is part of a religion in a country such as this, and Christians must do their duty to their country as
part of their duty to God. So he's basically saying, I mean, this is just like, it's just another part of our life and we can't just enjoy the blessings of liberty, show up to vote once a year, and think that it's going to continue. We've got to devote some portion of our lives, fortunes and sacred honor to constantly being involved and constantly being salt and light.
And what you're doing is you're giving people a handbook on how to do that and actually to fight back in a biblical way, but there's a time for civil disobedience, there's a time to show up, there's a time to rally the troops, rally the people in our community. And that's essentially what you're calling people to. And not to just do it for a short period of time but start saying, hey, man, we got to look at the long game here and be dedicated for years to come.
A sustained pattern of persuasion.
And she's on the school board? Yes, yes!
And so the... You know, here, I live in Phoenix. And right here we have a little school district called the Washington School District. And I'm on the Board of Trustees of And she's on the school board. And she's the one Arizona Christian University. And the school board members started objecting to having student teachers come from Arizona Christian university, because they were Christians.
And so, you know, as I looked into this, what was so interesting to me, is here you have someone on a school board, who sexually identifies as a cat? I mean, they're not a man, a woman. This woman claim she's a cat. objecting to these students from Arizona Christian. But you know what's so interesting to me, is that there are a number of mega churches in that school district. And so they were so asleep at the wheel when they could have controlled every single school board election.
They were missing an action. And these LGBTQ activists, actually embedded themselves... They didn't even have kids, but they embedded themselves into the school board.
So how do you turn that? Like, how do you wake up those churches then? I mean, I know that's what the book is calling them to do. And so when people...
You know, part of it is there has been a heresy that has been sponsored by the federal government that has
That's right. affected the latest generation of pastors, and they've got to be woken up from it. And that is this heresy, that Jesus doesn't
Jesus came to save every part of society, including govern all of life. Okay. The Jesus I serve, he governs every single bit of my life. He governs what I do. He governs my hobbies. He governs my government, he governs my church. Yeah. But he governs everything. Jesus wants to be on a list of one. And so the truth is, is that what we have to do is this heresy that somehow, oh, we have the sacred over here, and we have the government over here, and the two aren't ever
supposed to mix. That just isn't that truth. the government.
And he said, teach them to obey everything I've commanded you, not leaving anything off limits. And my buddy, Paul Blair, pastor from Oklahoma, and this is like, the fifth time I've given him credit for this, which is way more than I normally give. Normally, I take it as my own after about two times. But anyway, he always asked pastors, he's like, what part of your life is Jesus not Lord over? Because that's the only thing you should not be
preaching about. And of course, the answer is nothing... it should be nothing, exactly what you just said.
Right. And, you know, he, you know, the way I kind of say that is he wants to be on a list of one.
Yeah.
You know, we live in a nation of idolaters. People worship everything in America. They worship Hollywood stars, they worship sports leaders, they worship cars, they worship, you know, almost everything. And this is idolatry. And Jesus calls us... and this is why the church has to first... You know, the number one stewardship you
have is of your own heart. And so we have to make sure that we're always following Jesus as the only one on our list, and that everything revolves around him and that he gets 100% of our worship.
It really... What you're saying, Floyd, is I mean, for the neighborhood to changed, for the community to change, state to change, the nation to change. We have... It starts with us. We've got to fully submit, fully surrender. He's got to be Lord over everything in our life, and then that will spill out into all those things.
If we're saturated in His Word, if we're living that, you know, every part of our lives submitted to him, then we have to show up, because we realize, wait a minute, I have a duty here. I'm a citizen in a country that puts me in charge as, we the people, I'm Cesar. So now, what is the Bible tells me to do when it comes to voting for a school board member that thinks she's a cat?
Yeah, well, and so you know, I know. You know, WallBuilders is such a great organization and everything you do you spend so much time studying history. And, you know, we've become a nation with amnesia. We just need to remember history. We need to understand the gifts that our founders gave us to govern our own country. As last I looked, the US Constitution is still the
law of the land. The Bill of Rights, including the 10th Amendment are still the law of the land and this is such a great gift that's been given to us by God. All we have to do as citizens is claim it and make it alive today.
Amen. Amen. That's it. It's right there. It's sitting there for us. We still have the freedom to participate and do these things. Do we have challenges? Absolutely. But we're still the greatest, most powerful, most free nation in the history of mankind. And we're about to lose it if we don't step up. counterpunch is the name of the book An Unlikely Alliance of Americans Fighting Back for Faith and Freedom,
Floyd Brown. Before I let you go, Floyd, just your... I mean, like you said, you're running the Western journal. And then also just speaking across the country and all the organizations, you're involved in, your sort of 30,000 feet view of the temperature in America and are people waking up, as this push from the transgender thing? And I see... I mean, all the stuff that's happening. Do you see the wakeup happening? Are people responding?
It's very dark out there. And in darkness, light shines brighter, and I believe people are waking up. I believe that, you know, if we can come together in unity, and that's why Paul always talked about unity. We have to seek unity with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. And if we seek unity, God will rescue America. Yes. I believe the tide is turning, Rick.
Amen. Good stuff. Counterpunch is the name of it. The Kindle and the paperback available, now. The audible will be out in just a couple more weeks. So get the book, Get educated on these things. Get fired up. Start hosting a biblical citizenship class right there in your church or your home and start applying these things, and then share the book with other people. Go buy 10 copies and give it away. Floyd, God bless you, man. Appreciate you coming on.
Thank you.

Thanks to Floyd Brown for joining us as well. The book is Counterpunch an Unlikely Alliance of Americans Fighting
Back for Faith and Freedom. Guys a little bit of a rabbit hole here. But unlikely alliances, I've been noticing that a lot lately. People that we would not normally think to team up with or expected to have worked with us on some of these issues. With us all the way to save liberty at this point. They don't have to agree with us on everything. And we've said that for a long time here at WallBuilders. And you're not going to find people that are with you 100% of the
time. You lock shields with those who are standing in defensive whatever that issue is that you're fighting for that day. But that Unlikely Alliance, we've got to be more open to that, I think even that wasn't the topic of our interview very much with Floyd. But we need to be teaming up with anybody that wants to save Liberty right now.
Yeah, we've got to, and also the worldview, you know, we talked about it earlier, Floyd talked about it. And he was talking about how that for liberals and progressive, they see government as their God. And that's also an impediment for a lot of Christians. Well, I'm not getting involved with their god. Government's their God, that's... no, no. If you're involved in a biblical viewpoint, you understand that government is something he made
you a steward over. The fact that they may worship it and see it as their God. And that is the end all be all, they'll sacrifice for it, they'll do everything for it. That does not provide an excuse for us not to get involved because it's their god. And I'm not going to follow their God. No, no, this is the thing where God has given us scripture after scripture. We talked before the book by John Locke, the Two Treatises of Government, less than 400 pages
long. He did it in 1690. But it's got more than 1500 references and allusions to the Bible in their and how civil government shall operate. That is God's institution. And God gave us those institutions, and he told us to be good stewards and take care of until he got back. And that's occupy until I come Luke 19:13. So this is an area that just because right now it's dominated by the left and by progressives and others. We can't give it away. This is
God's institution. And you know, as Tim you mentioned earlier, Benjamin Rush talked the thing about you serve God for First, country second and family third. Why country above family? Because if you lose your country it becomes the great enemy of your family. This is why we have to get back involved in this stuff, to be able to preserve the stewardship that God's given us. And so Counterparts, that's a great title on it. We're told
to be offensive minded. Proverbs 21:22, the wise man attacks the city of the mighty, tears down the stronghold in which they trust, it's time to Counterpunch and get back in there, and get those things, get those institutions back in the right hands and get them moving in the right direction. That's something we can do.
Well we appreciate you having been with us today, folks. We encourage you to visit the websites again WallBuilders.com , WallBuildersLive.com and go to PatriotAcademy.com .
