There's a moment every small business owner can tell you about. It happens in the lifespan of every company, and it's a moment that tests and entrepreneurs resolve. It might also be a moment that changes them and their business forever. For Doug and Jason Barrows of Luna Coffee, this moment came in March of twenty twenty.

Well, when I get to the back and it goes anything going on, Everyone's like, no, everything's perfect, and then one person in the corner goes but it smells like campfire.

At that point, we were personally all tapped out. I was going to need to raise more capital and I was going to need to be able to do it quickly.

And telling the stories of how they got through it. I was like the rug got pulled from under my feet. You took all the losses, two million dollars of your own money out the door.

Absolutely have no tools.

Speaker 1

You know, I had no employees, no credit, you know I had nothing.

Speaker 3

These aren't the unicorn stories with big venture capitalists behind them.

Speaker 1

We got a box at.

Speaker 5

Midnight and it said fifty four hundred candles. I'm like, how in the world are we going to do this?

Speaker 3

These are the everyday regular people who you know, who you love, and who decided to take a risk and start a business because with great risk comes great reward.

It was just like a completely bootstrapped hustle your ass off, non stop grind.

There's no giving up.
