Sir Jack Drummond, his wife Ann and his daughter Elizabeth travelled to France in July 1952\. Jack was a renowned biochemist who had helped to design the rationing program in the UK during the Second World War. The family were on their way to visit friends in the South of France and had stopped at a farm by the name of Le Grand Terre.
