Okay , I'm going to talk about my retraction real quick . So the story was true . They made 3.2 billion of the pennies last year . The us mint did okay , okay , 3.2 billion , which , if they were doing it by a penny , that'd be 3.2 billion pennies .

Why ? Because a penny costs one cent .

No , it costs 3.69 cents in 2024 to make . Oh , so it's actually costing us three cents to make a penny which is supposed to be worth one cent .

So we're losing money .

No , they're not lying . It's just how expensive it's got over the years to make that money . So that's the point that they were trying to make . So they reported the us reported , or the Department of Treasury that they lost $85.3 million on printing or making those pennies . See the article I read said $84 million is what they made . They got it backwards .
