Episode description

Remember that time I mistakenly called Bruce "Brooke" and we all had a good laugh? Well, Bruce and I are back at the mic, and this time we're inviting you on a spirited journey through the podcast universe, complete with a charming nod to Lily's "Enjoying Being Human" as she prepares to unleash new episodes over her spring break. But it's the allure of the "Makeshift Stories" podcast that truly ensnares our fancy, spinning tales of science fiction that captivate and inspire – and we're thrilled to showcase their work during our show.

Amidst our revelry in content creation, we take a stark turn down memory lane with Alicia, whose unsettling experience of the Mandela Effect in Rosoli, Italy, has us questioning the very fabric of recollection. The Rosoli disaster, a catastrophic event that seems to shift its details with each retelling, steers us into a narrative labyrinth. Alicia's pursuit of truth against a backdrop of lost memories, skeptical strangers, and an estranged uncle captures the essence of our fascination with history's mutable nature.

As we navigate from the shadows of the past into the celestial wonders overhead, the anticipation for the 2024 eclipse stirs within us a mix of awe and conspiracy. Biblical tales, prophetic towns, and even emergency planning – who knew an eclipse could hold such power over the imagination? We wrap up with a salute to the youthful exuberance of Lily's podcasting endeavors and a heartfelt appeal to support the voices of tomorrow. Don't miss out on this eclectic episode that promises to entertain, provoke thought, and maybe even alter your perception of reality.

Podcast Episode Showcase

Bruce

Hello , wait a minute , sonny . Wait a minute . I got something to say before you go on with your introduction .

Sunny

And what would that be , brooke ?

Bruce

Well , I want you to stop calling me Brooke for a real good reason .

Sunny

Oh no , why , why , why why .

Bruce

Because I'm using that AI to do my transcripts now , and when you say Brooke , it doesn't know how to handle it , how to spell it , and I have to go in and change it every time you say it . So , if you don't mind , call me Bruce and it'll make it easier on that stupid AI and I will get my money's worth out , okay .

Sunny

Oh , um , I guess .

Bruce

Really that easily ?

Sunny

Yeah , I'll easily go on with .

Bruce

Um , okay , Well , let's go on with the introduction then .

Sunny

Alright , here we go , hello everyone .

Bruce

And welcome to the Quacking Duck Podcast . Alright , that was a great introduction . Again , I've noticed , although , sonny , that you slid in that slide whistle . You sneakily put that in there . I didn't know that was coming .

Sunny

Oh , I did , didn't I ? I hope you like it . Well , I like the surprise .

Bruce

I always like something new . You did a good job once again . I guess you'll keep your job for another podcast episode . Yay , yay .

Sunny

I hope so .

Bruce

Yep , me too . Hey , I heard you doing a podcast with Lily . That was cool .

Sunny

Yeah , she invited me and I said yes and I went right along and we did a 15 minute episode for her podcast enjoying being human . That's a cool name .

Bruce

Yeah , it is . She's actually been working on that quite a bit , but she's been doing a lot of schooling , of course , and that's what 90% of life is when you're young like that , so she hasn't had time to put it together . So hopefully she can get her listeners back and they will realize she's back in the saddle and she can do more of it .

You know she's doing her spring break the next what ? Two weeks Week . I don't know how long , but maybe she'll have more time to do that .

Sunny

Well , she said she's going to invite me again . So yay , I hope so That'll be cool .

Bruce

Yeah , it will . That'd be really cool . Speaking of cool , I'm going to go right off the introduction into our new part , well , this episode anyway .

Sunny

So what is it you want to do , Bruce ? I called you Bruce .

Bruce

You really did . That's cool . Thank you very , very much . Well , you know how I like sci-fi stories . I try to write my own and then I try to read them , and the two doesn't go together . I need to write them and have somebody else read them . That's what a lot of people do and it works out so much better .

Sunny

Yeah , it does . I don't know why , but you get tongue tied when you start reading stories .

Bruce

I do . I don't know why either , but I do . But anyway , I like a lot of podcasts . I listen to several different podcasts out there and here . Of late I've been listening to a new one that does sci-fi stories . Usually it does it twice a month . They create and read these stories on their podcasts and they're quite good . I enjoy them very much .

So I contacted the podcast and I asked let's see if I can remember his name . I guess it would help if I told you what the name of the podcast was , wouldn't it ?

Sunny

Yep , I think it'd be very important . The listeners might want to know . All right , yeah you're right .

Bruce

Okay , so the podcast I'm talking about right now this week I want to showcase . I want to bring it out and highlight it and tell people about it . Hopefully they'll get more listeners . Plus , maybe my listeners will get as much enjoyment out of as I do .

The name of the podcast is makeshift stories and they produce an episode every two weeks , or twice a month , I should say , which is a pretty good system . I've done that for a long time , except for this last month . We had some family members in the hospital so I couldn't get to work on my podcast Barely could make it to work .

But anyway , that's all said and done and it's doing better now , so we'll leave that alone .

Alan Hare is his name and I emailed him , contacted the podcast and asked him if I could showcase their podcast , one of their episodes , and what I want to do is just play it from the beginning to the end of the story and that way you'll get the full story , the full filling of it , and you'll get , hopefully , capture the excitement that I get and , like I

said , it will give them the opportunity to get more listeners and that's always better for our podcast . So what I'm going to do is just start the podcast out and play it for everybody and then , after the end of the episode , I'll come back and I'll finish my episode off . So hang on .

This episode may be a little bit longer than I usually do , but hey , that's all right . I can do anything I want because it's my podcast , right ?

Speaker 3

Yay .

Sunny

Yay , I like that , I like it , I like it , I like it . Let's go for it , brooke , I mean Bruce , sorry .

Bruce

That's all right . It'll take you a little while to get the hang of it , but we'll get there . All right , here we go .

Memory and Reality

Speaker 3

Today's story , episode 273 , the Mandela Effect , read by Kathleen Connolly . Opening and closing theme by Matthew Erdman . Somewhere and sometime , history might have been changed to alter the present .

Speaker 5

Alicia stood at the back of the small crowd around the modest cenotaph at the center of the newly rebuilt plaza as Rosoli's current mayor concluded her remarks . Let us stand in silence for a moment to honor and remember those who died in the conflagration that consumed most of our beloved town on this day 25 years ago . The mayor concluded In her mid-fifties .

Dressed respectfully in black , she clasped her hands and bowed her head as the group stood in silence , alicia could hear the rumble of traffic from the nearby busy autostrada . She couldn't remember when the road which had once run through the center of the town had been moved , but it was some years after the accident .

The ceremony ended with the mayor laying a reef . Then the crowd began to break into smaller groups to talk . Alicia didn't know anyone and soon found herself standing alone . She hadn't returned to Italy or her grandmother's town since she was a child .

She had an uncle still living in the area , but he had chosen not to come and she hadn't seen him in decades . As her mother hadn't gotten along with him , she never understood their estrangement . Now it seemed pointless .

After her mother's death , there was only her and her uncle left , having traveled thousands of miles to attend and not wanting to leave yet , alicia made her way over to the cenotaph to look for her grandmother's name etched into the stone , then moved on to the commemorative plaque , the bronze rectangle featured before and after photos etched onto its surface , and

below them a description of the tragedy which had seen the center of the town burn down , killing dozens of people , either in the fire itself or , like her grandmother , later , from burns and other injuries .

Following the date the plaque authoritatively stated , at precisely 2.35 pm , a catastrophic collision occurred within the heart of our town center when two transport vehicles laden with highly volatile lithium ion batteries destined for electric vehicular propulsion collided head on .

The batteries were torn apart in the wake of this cataclysmic impact , resulting in a ferocious conflagration that rapidly consumed the surrounding vicinity . In the face of this inferno , our local first responders found themselves confronting a maelstrom of unparalleled proportions , their valiant efforts rendered ineffectual against the relentless advance of the chemical blaze .

Tragically , the merciless flames claimed the lives of no fewer than 47 individuals , leaving behind a trail of indescribable devastation . The repercussions of this calamity were far reaching , precipitating a seismic shift in national policy In response to the gravity of the incident .

Our federal government made history by becoming the pioneering nation to enact a sweeping prohibition on electric battery-powered vehicles . This watershed decision reverberated across the international stage as numerous nations swiftly followed suit to avert such harrowing calamities in their territories . That's not how I remember it .

Alicia muttered what do you think happened then ? Someone said in American English . The question startled Alicia . She had barely whispered the comment . She turned toward the voice and found a striking older woman dressed in dark gray . Like Alicia , she was North American . You said you didn't remember it that way .

The woman reminded I didn't mean to say that out loud . Alicia apologized . So what do you think was different ? It's the trucks that crashed . I'm sure they were carrying gasoline . Interesting why my grandmother survived the fire but was badly injured . Alicia explained defensively . My mother and I flew here to see her in hospital .

I was only six or seven but I distinctly remember her telling me they were fuel trucks . She died of her injuries shortly after my condolences the woman offered . The accident became such a watershed moment that I'm sure the plaque is correct . You were young . You must be misremembering . Our memories can play tricks on us , especially old ones .

Details get mixed up . You might have seen a tanker truck on the way to the hospital and your brain has , over the years , merged the memories . You see , the brain stores memories in two ways . Newer ones tend to be verbatim . Older ones are just basic concepts . Like you saw your grandmother in hospital .

The specifics of that moment are not remembered , so we tend to embellish the recollection with details from other experiences . Everyone does this , especially if it is an early memory . Are you some kind of psychologist ? Alicia asked , getting annoyed . It's common knowledge . The woman retorted in a way which implied her word was final . It made Alicia uncomfortable .

Not wanting to get into an argument , alicia excused herself , turned and left , but she could sense the stranger's gaze burning into her back . Alicia found the whole encounter a bit creepy . She was sure her memory was correct . The plaque had to be wrong .

She wanted to talk to someone about it but didn't feel comfortable approaching the mayor or anyone involved with the memorial . She could only think of one person to talk to her uncle , who lived in the next town , although she hadn't seen him for over two decades . I almost didn't recognize you , federico .

Alicia's uncle admitted , kissing her on each cheek a few hours later before standing back to look . You were only eight or nine when I saw you last . You've changed so much . I'm glad you came to see me . I wasn't sure if you would . When you told me you were coming for the 25th , I assumed you would be there .

Alicia protested , waiting in the doorway for her uncle to invite her in . She wasn't sure how he'd react , but the aging man , to her relief , seemed genuinely happy to see her . Come in . Come in , he beckoned . I went to the annual memorial for almost 20 years . Such a tragedy . Then I stopped . I mean no disrespect , but it was time to move on .

I don't like to dwell on the past . Going this year would have reminded me of things I would prefer not to think about . I know we didn't get along your mother , grandmother and me , but that was then , and now you are here . I'm so happy to see you . Please sit . The room was surprisingly modern and bright .

Alicia had been expecting something old and tired looking . She sat in one of the comfortable armchairs , positioned to make conversation easy . Federico offered her a glass of wine then sat down opposite her . So tell me what you have been doing , he asked . It took almost an hour for Alicia to quell her uncle's curiosity .

Finally she had a chance to ask him about Rosoli . Did Grandma ever mention anything about the type of trucks involved in the disaster . I saw her several times while in the hospital . Federico said we both knew her time was limited so we spent it trying to patch things up . We didn't talk about the accident . That's an odd question . Why do you ask ?

I remember quite clearly that she told me she saw two tanker trucks racing through the town just before they collided . Alicia explained but the plaque on the cenotaph claims the trucks which caused the fire were carrying EV batteries to the car factory . An odd woman there heard me mutter that and was quite adamant I was misremembering things .

I was hoping Grandma had said something to you . Federico shook his head . No , she didn't . And my mother didn't mention anything about Grandma knowing the type of truck which caused the fire . Her uncle shook his head again . No , we never talked about it and I haven't seen your mother since you and she visited a few years after the accident .

I remember that trip , alicia admitted . We flew into Florence and rented an electric car . At the airport Mom got lost and was freaking out about our battery level until we stumbled on a small charge station . Federico looked confused . You mean petrol station ? He corrected .

Battery-powered cars had been banned by then because of the fear of another Rosoli , you would have driven here in a gas-powered car . He insisted . Are you sure about that ? Alicia challenged I swear I remember watching the battery level indicator because mom was so worried we'd run out of power . You were young and old memories are fuzzy .

Federico consoled Sometimes we add things to recollections that weren't originally there . Maybe you were watching your tablet's battery indicator and your mother was worried about running out of gas . Your brain just remembers her concern and filled in the detail with the battery indicator over the years . That's sort of the same thing .

The woman at the cenotaph was implying . Alicia growled , looking accusingly at her uncle . My memory is perfectly clear . I know I'm right . We were in an EV and grandma saw fuel trucks before the accident . You're as stubborn as your mother and grandmother , alicia Federico noted , so I'm not going to try and convince you .

However , I suggest you go to the regional archives in Frabina . They'll have the original reports on the disaster . I have a friend who works there . I can let her know you're coming . The archives were in a restored medieval stone building in the old regional capitol's triangular central plaza .

Anticipating staying for a few days , alicia rented a room nearby and a motor scooter to get around . Federico's friend turned out to be the associate archivist , who was more than willing to help Alicia track down the official reports , news stories and photos of the village before and after the accident .

Oddly , there were no photos of the trucks involved , or even a mention of what they were hauling , in the news articles immediately after the tragedy . Even more unusual , alicia thought the official report just referred to the cause of the disaster as a collision and recommended routing the autostrada around the town .

It wasn't until the first calls started coming out to ban dangerously explosive batteries that the trucks cargo began to be identified as such . Are these all the reports , alicia asked , after having spent two days combing through thousands of digital files ? That's everything we have All the reports and articles in the regional and national papers .

The Truth Behind Rosoli Disaster

The archivist confirmed I take it you didn't find what you were looking for . No , alessia shook her head . I didn't . I hoped there would be a description of the trucks involved in the Rosoli disaster . They were transports carrying batteries . That's common knowledge . The archivist replied without hesitation .

When Alicia pointed out that the reports immediately after the disaster didn't mention what the trucks had been carrying , the archivist just shrugged it off then added that someone else had recently been interested in the same thing . I think his first name was Angelo or Antonio or something similar .

I believe he lives in the region , she said , but couldn't recall anything more about him or what he had discovered . Defeated , alicia thanked the archivist and left . She walked the half block back to her scooter and was about to get on it when someone behind her spoke , startling her Nice scooter .

Personally , I'm not brave enough to ride one on these crowded narrow roads . Alicia couldn't quite place the voice . It was American and she had heard it recently . But where she finished buckling her helmet then swung around to see who was trying to talk to her .

The creepy woman from the cenotaph stood a few feet away , watching her with more than casual interest . She was dressed in trendy tourist attire which , in Alicia's opinion , appeared to be more of a disguise than an affectation . I'm here visiting relatives , the woman explained with a forced smile that didn't reach past the ends of her lips .

What brings you to Fribinia ? It's a bit off the beaten path for tourists . I came to visit the archives , alicia replied . And my uncle has friends here , she added , hoping to head off any other questions . Are you a medieval history buff or interested in more recent events , like the Rossolly incident . The woman probed with a knowing , predatory smirk .

Alicia's cheeks began to turn red . The strange woman had an uncanny ability to get under her skin Family history . And why is it any business of yours ? She spat back defiantly . You know you won't find anything to prove your memory is right . The woman countered . Her veneer of pleasantness gone . You should drop it and enjoy the rest of your trip .

It might be another 22 years before you make it back here . Alicia didn't answer . Instead she started the scooter and drove away in the opposite direction from her hotel . She tried to convince herself that it was just a lucky guess . The woman couldn't have known it had been exactly 22 years since she and her mother had visited her uncle .

Alicia drove around until she thought the woman wouldn't be able to find her , then doubled back to the hotel and parked the scooter where it would be hard to spot from the road , just in case the creepy woman was following her . Why did the woman care about what some other attendee remembered ? If the woman thought she was discouraging Alicia , she was wrong .

Her uncle was right . She was as single-minded as her mother and was going to dig until she proved she was right . Alicia decided that spending any more time at the archives was pointless , so she ordered room service , stayed in and searched the web looking for other incidents of people's memories not agreeing with historical records .

It didn't take long to find dozens of groups , including one devoted to the Rosoli accident .

She was relieved to discover people worldwide who remembered reading news articles or seeing videos about the Rosoli disaster , which clearly stated two fuel tankers collided head-on and burst open on impact their trailers , spilling thousands of liters of gasoline into the street that caught fire and destroyed the center of the town .

However , no one could find any of the reports supporting this . Hoping someone could help , alicia posted her story in the Rosoli disaster forum , then went to sleep . When she woke and checked her laptop the following day , a person calling himself Veritas42 had responded . I agree , digital records are easy to change and I believe they have been . The message began .

I'm convinced this is evidence of time travel , someone from our future attempting to alter the course of the world . They changed the critical details of a pivotal moment . That's all it would take , but not all .

The evidence of the original timeline is erased , so they send people back to clean up and get rid of the inconvenient bits and pieces that don't agree with the new timeline they've created . Maybe your mysterious stranger is one of them . I'd be careful . Alicia laughed Time travel , give me a break .

She was excited and was about to move on when she saw another message from Veritas42 . Curious , she opened it , expecting a rant on time travel , aliens or alternate dimensions . Instead she found something entirely unexpected . Reading my first response to your post , I think I came across as a bit flaky .

I was excited that someone else witnessed one of the people directly involved in the Rosoli incident saying the trucks carried petrol . My name is Angelo and I live in a small village called Stalis , about a 45 minute drive from where you are . I visited the archive as well and , like you , found nothing .

My father was part of the first EMS crew on site after the accident . He told me the trucks were tankers . Before he passed away last year he gave me a video on his phone proving it . It might be the last bit of physical evidence of the truth . I will share it with you , but you can't tell anyone about it .

Make sure no one follows you , especially that woman . The next day , alicia found herself riding along a narrow , shoulderless road which snaked lazily through the countryside between the regional capital and the village of Stalis , where Angelo lived .

He had suggested the route to avoid traffic on the AutoStrada , telling her that the main roads were too dangerous for scooters . The sun was out and Alicia was enjoying the ride through vineyards , fields and ancient stone buildings . She came to a sharp jog in the road where it veered around a farmhouse .

She slowed to make the turn and a car , some European brand she didn't recognize , pulled out onto the road behind her . At first Alicia didn't give it a thought . Her rented motor scooter hummed as she weaved through the picturesque landscape .

Her thoughts were lost in the beauty of the countryside until she glanced in her mirror and saw that the car was following her a bit too close for her liking . A creeping unease settled in her stomach and her intuition prickled On impulse . She quickly turned onto a nearby lane to confirm her suspicions . The car followed suit .

Adrenaline surging through her veins , she accelerated the motor scooter's tiny engine growling fiercely beneath her . As if sensing her escape plan , the car gunned its engine , overtaking her with an aggressive surge . Panic gripped Alicia as she fought to maintain control . When the car swerved toward her , she had no choice but to veer off the road .

The scooter , jolted and bounced , narrowly missing a gnarled tree , then skidded to a halt in a cloud of dust and leaves , throwing Alicia to the ground . Bruised and shaken . She pushed herself up , her eyes stinging with tears as the dust cleared . She caught a glimpse of the car's driver in the rearview mirror .

It was a woman's eyes and she immediately recognized the cold stare , determinedly fueled by fear . She pushed through the pain , righted her scooter and headed back to the regional capital to file a police report . She was trying to force me off the road . Alicia complained to the Polizia Stradale officer .

He listened , occasionally jotting down a few notes Without a better description of the car , or photo or license number . There is not much we can do , he explained , and you are sure it wasn't an accident . Some drivers can be aggressive and get impatient with tourists taking their time .

Plus , the roads are much smaller than where you come from , so it's not uncommon for a foreign driver to be involved in an accident . She intentionally swerved into me . It wasn't an accident , alicia insisted , trying to contain her anger and frustration as it became clear the police were going to do nothing . Please remain calm . I just had to confirm .

I will file the report and if anything comes of it , we will let you know . Alicia knew she'd never hear from them . The bus dropped her in the center of Stalise just before noon the next day . Situated at the crest of a hill surrounded by orchards , it was more a collection of buildings than a town .

There was only one café , which made it easy for Alicia to find . However , angela was not there when she arrived . No one spoke English , but Alicia managed to order a coffee and then waited and waited . She was about to give up when a disheveled and frantic looking Angela finally appeared . I'm so sorry that I'm late . He apologized profusely .

I'm glad you waited , but I have bad news . I went to a friend's for dinner last night and someone broke into my home . They cleaned it out , then started a fire . He cried on the verge of hysterics Everything , everything I worked on gone . It took a moment for the implications to sink . In the video Alicia gasped Gone . He confirmed .

My father said the gasoline was running down the streets like rainwater . He gagged on the fumes and had to put on a mask to breathe . That's how my father explained it and the video showed he stopped in mid-sentence . They've won , alicia . They've erased the last bit of physical evidence . You'll go to the police , right ? Alicia almost pleaded .

There'll be fingerprints or something that would be pointless . Defeated , angela dropped his head into his hands . The police can't chase thieves through time , but if we leave out the time travel thing , put our stories together and tell them what is happening .

Tell them that someone has been trying to prevent the truth about Rosoli from getting out and that they'll resort to anything to do it .

I mean , someone tried to run me off the road and now , with the theft and the fire , even as the words left her mouth , alicia knew how outlandish the whole thing sounded , without a shred of proof , and knew that this was the end of the line . He had physical evidence , a video .

Alicia told her uncle , having decided she had hit a dead end and could not achieve anything more by staying , she had stopped in to say goodbye on her way to the airport . His father was an EMR , one of the first on the scene , and took the video on his phone . She added and you saw this video ? Federico asked skeptically .

No , I told you it was stolen or burnt in the fire . Either way , it's gone . Federico sighed I really think you should drop this , alicia . Go home and forget about what you think your grandma told you that day . But other people remember the fuel trucks as well , she protested . Federico shrugged .

I don't know much about psychology , he admitted , but there are people who are convinced that Nelson Mandela passed away in prison decades before his actual death . Maybe what you are experiencing is something like that . Alicia was about to object when her uncle handed her a packet of yellowed envelopes , held together with string .

What's this , she asked their letters , some from your mother , some from the lawyers dealing with your grandmother's estate . I'm not sure why I saved them there are not that many , but I thought you should have them . Since your mother's death I've been meaning to send them to you . Her uncle apologized .

Alicia looked at the packet , examining it like an artifact from some long dead culture . She never trusted electronic communications . Federico explained she felt that anything important must be put on paper and sent by registered mail . Please take them .

Alicia thanked her uncle , put the packet in her bag , said her goodbyes , then left , trying to convince herself to take his advice and let go of the memory . The plane had been delayed and Alicia found herself trapped in a crowded and stuffy waiting lounge , restless to pass the time , she decided to examine the letters .

She dug around in her bag until she found the packet bound together by a frayed string . With a sense of curiosity , she untied the string and carefully withdrew one of the faded envelopes . The paper crackled as she opened it , revealing words from a lawyer addressed to her late mother . The letter began my condolences on your mother's passing .

Alicia's eyes widened as she read on , her heart racing . That incident involving the two fuel trucks was abhorrent . The letter continued and someone needs to take responsibility . I am contacting you about a possible legal action against the truck's owners . Alicia's breath caught in her throat . The letter was the tangible evidence she had been desperately seeking .

She glanced up , her eyes filled with triumph , but her elation was short-lived . A shiver ran down her spine when she noticed the woman from the cenotaph and the street outside the archive , seated just two rows away . Her predatory gaze locked onto Alicia , sending a chill through her veins .

Alicia hastily returned the letter to her bag with trembling hands , hoping to conceal her find . Desperation clawed at her as she scanned the lounge for an escape route . Just as a sense of impending danger overtook her . A faint acrid odor reached her nose . Her heart raced even faster as she realized the smell was coming from her bag .

Sex swept over the lounge as the scent of burning intensified , and alarmed glances were exchanged . Alicia's eyes widened in horror as she looked down at her bag . Smoke billowed from it and the entire thing burst into flames . Before she could react , an ear-piercing alarm blared , causing chaos to erupt .

Panicked passengers scrambled in all directions and security guards rushed in to contain the situation . In a state of shock , alicia stumbled away from her blazing bag , her eyes darting around wildly . Then she spotted the mysterious woman who had calmly risen from her seat , a chilling smile playing across her lips .

With a final unnerving glance , the woman walked away , disappearing in the chaos as Alicia's only evidence turned into ash and smoke .

If you like their show , if you find value in it , they are part of the value for value program . Also , help them out , go there and give them a little bit of financial support . Give them a little bit of feedback and tell them what you thought of the show . Do something for them .

Alright , again , we thank you , alan , for helping us out , letting us be part of that , and I hope that you get something out of it .

Sunny

Alright , Alright . That was a great show . I know why you like it now . That was cool man , that was cool .

Bruce

Well , I'm glad you liked it . I try to do something good every now and then . Don't do it very often , but every now and then we try to do something good . Well , that was a little bit of time there . That took up a little bit .

That's usually about how long my episodes are , but I'm going to leave this one a little bit longer and talk a little bit more . There's something coming up and I was going to do it on a separate episode , but this one took me so long to get together because of all the little , because of everything .

So what I want to do is combine a little bit of time from the one I was going to do in the future and what I want to talk about is the eclipse . Of course , everybody's talking about the eclipse and it's , you know , a very unique , exciting thing getting ready to happen . We had one back in 2017 , and I got to enjoy it .

Where I worked , we just took time out , we had glasses , we went out to the parking lot behind the building and we watched the eclipse happen . It was pretty neat . It wasn't , you know , anything really spectacular Like they're planning now , but we got another one coming up and this one is going to make an . X or another path across the United States .

It's going to go southwest , up to the northeast and it's going to crisscross the old path , making a cross over what they call Little Egypt in southern Illinois . That's going to be the crisscross place for the two eclipses , one in 2017 and one April the 8th , on 2024 .

And if you listen to any of the theories or conspiracies or anything that deals with the eclipse , there's many people talking about how that there was actually another one . It wasn't a totally eclipse , but if you put the three together , it makes a hebric letter which stands for God .

Again , a lot of these things I can't prove or disprove because I don't have that kind of knowledge . All I can do is pass it on , but I find it very interesting . But , however , no matter what , there's going to be a eclipse on April the 8th , or that's what they tell us , and there is a lot of conspiracies , a lot of theories going on about them .

There was seven , I believe , towns in the 2017 eclipse that it passed over , and they were named Salem , which is a lot of people say is the word for Jerusalem .

It also means the beginning , but anyway , there's going to be seven towns named Nineveh under this new eclipse this year and if you understand the story of Jonah and the whale , that story talks about how Jonah was spit out from the whale because he wouldn't do what God said and the whale swallowed him while he finally conceded and confessed that he was wrong and

he went on to go to Nineveh and preach repentance to those people .

Well , at the same time that was happening , right before he got there there was a total eclipse over Nineveh which blackened the skies , and so you have this man being spit out of a whale probably looked like a bleached man because he had been in a whale for three days and the sky had just been darkened and he shows up preaching repentance and they did .

In fact , he was a little bit disappointed because they did , and there's a whole story behind all that .

But anyway , the whole point of this is there's seven towns named Nineveh that the eclipse is passing over and there is a constellation that it will be under which is called Cetus I think that's how you pronounce it C-E-T-U-S , which means the whale , so interesting .

Sunny

Are you making all this up ?

Bruce

No , I'm actually repeating a lot of the other things that I've heard . Maybe they're making it up , I don't know . Again , I don't have the wisdom to know all this stuff . I just have to be able . I just hear it and repeat it and you guys all dissect it and do what you believe is right .

But speaking of the 40 days that were given to repent before God judged them , did you know that Simpsons had a cartoon back in 2005 ?

Well , they've had a lot of cartoons , but they had a particular one back in 2005 , which introduced the rapture happening on May , the 19th , 2024 , right after the eclipse Actually 40 days after the eclipse which I think is quite interesting .

I think they're probably wrong about the rapture , but it correlates with Jonah and the whale story for 40 days , so that's something to be interested in , isn't it ?

Sunny

I think you're making this up , Bruce . You better watch it . They'll come and get you here . They come , Dum , dum dum .

Bruce

Oh my yeah , no , I'm not making this up . And have you heard about all the emergency planning going on for and around the eclipse ?

Sunny

You're making this up too .

Bruce

No , I'm really not . The National Guard has been called out . I think Oklahoma has called the National Guard out , along with some kind of chemical poison or something . Responsive team I'm not exactly sure exactly what they call it , but that's been called out to Texas .

There's several counties in that state that has made emergency decorations where they're telling people this is not the only state , but there's many states that they need to be prepared for rashings or lack of food , lack of water , communications going down , so they want people to prepare and have extra food , extra water , have your gas tank filled up .

And I don't know if they're thinking that all the traffic is gonna cause problems or there's gonna be an emergency and they're not gonna be able to handle it , or my thinking is and I'm a conspiracy nut my thinking is they're probably gonna plan on our government's probably the biggest conspiracies or terrorists ever and they're probably planning something .

But I didn't say that . But anyway , yeah , they're making sure everybody's geared up and ready for some kind of emergency . Maybe they're gonna have zombies , who knows ? But I do know that it's gonna be dark for a while and the animals are probably gonna be affected .

Sunny

Yeah , I bet they will . I'll be freaked out and get dark in the middle of the day Weird .

Bruce

Yep , it's weird , but whatever's gonna happen is gonna happen and we can deal with it . Right , the Lord's gonna be with us . But I just wanted to bring it all to everybody's attention how weird it's getting and how they're planning on it being weird .

And you know , in the past , when we had eclipses , they told us to do what Put on eye protection If you're gonna be out in the sun , watch out for traffic . This time they're going crazy with all their emergency planning and it's almost like they're planning on something happening . But I didn't say that I don't know , and this is a podcast about sci-fi .

One other tidbit of information that I've learned , and then I'll leave the eclipse alone . But apparently some of the smaller towns in Texas where the totality is gonna take place are charging $1,000 a night to stay in their hotels , and that's quite a bit . I'm just saying .

Sunny

Wow , you are bringing a lot of gossip into our show .

Bruce

I don't know what you're talking about , but yeah , hey , this has been a sci-fi show . Today We've had a story , had another podcast that we've brought out and showcased and I hope everybody liked it . And we have a little bit of story about the eclipse .

And I'm gonna not do the earthquake this time around because I don't want to run the podcast too long and make everybody hate me even worse than I already have . But I do know one thing I want to do what's that ?

Sunny

Bruce Tell me Yay , I know you want to stop and shut it down .

Bruce

No oh .

Sunny

OK , I got another guess you want to give me food , I need food .

Bruce

Not yet , but that's a good idea . But no , we want to give her by the name of the last song that we did , last episode , which has been about a month ago now , and then we want to do another song , so they will know what's going to happen next month . So are you guys ready for that ?

Sunny

I am , I am .

Bruce

Awesome , so let's go forward . All right , the last episode we had the song picked out , and this song that we picked out was a Christian song and it the hence was . It was a Christian . It talked about fear and about standing or the stand or a stand , and the author's career started out like a morning star and he was born in 1979 . Anybody got any ideas ?

Sunny

No , I didn't hear anybody .

Bruce

Well , I didn't either . I guess they didn't shout loud enough , all right , so the morning star was . That was the hint that I gave about where his career started , and it was actually . He started out serving as a worship leader at the Morning Star Fellowship Church . So there's that hint , that's where it come from .

And the song that I was talking about was about actually from him and Bessel Music Collection . That's the group he joined , and then he moved to California . But they , but between the Bessel Music and guess who ? Nobody got a hint . Nope , all right , josh Baldwin , that's all music . And Josh Baldwin did stand in your love , which is a really good song .

I enjoy it and I hope you will go to my website or to my podcast description , pick up the link and go to YouTube and listen to the song . That's why we do this , so you guys can have fun guessing it and then go listen to it and you can get a little bit of enjoyment out of it also .

So again , it was standing in your love , bethel music and Josh Baldwin . Yay , now for the next one . So for this episode , which is have I mentioned which episode we're in now ? No , I don't think I did . This is season 5 , episode 4 .

So for this episode , the new song that we are giving you hints about is a country song , hint one country song , and it was ready . It the title , is an art form which consists of body movements . That's the only hint I'm gonna give you about the name .

And it was written by another person and produced , sung , however you want to put that , by this very well-known American country music singer , and it was a single in April of 1990 . So there you go . That's the hints for today . If you want to know what the song is , check back , neck it next episode all right , that sounds a lot like never mind .

I don't know well , you will know , if you hang in there , next episode we will give you the song . All right , I think , I think , I think , I think I think we're pretty well finished up the show for today . This is episode 4 , season 5 , and sunny . I think we need to say good night all right , I can do that , bruce .
